QUOTE (odette @ Jan 24 2009, 11:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello guys, my fiance just called me and told me that he got the letter of approval for our K1 Visa! Yeay!
I've been reading a lot of posts here but this is the first time I'm writing here.

Now, I just have a question. Is it ok to set a date now? It's Jan 24 now and we're thinking of June 27, 2009 for our wedding. Do you think that's possible?
I know there's still the interview and medical and all. I'm pretty healthy and law abiding citizen. smile.gif
I'm just concerned coz everything requires a deposit and all are non-refundable. I just don't want to lose money.

Thanks a lot for your help. You guys are awesome! biggrin.gif

Congratulations!!! kicking.gif I had hoped to get married June 27th too!! But that turned out to be a busy day for something else, so then we picked June 20th. However, judging the time line and everything..I said..."Maybe we better look into August".... blush.gif I was a hopeful thinker that we'd get approval by March...LOL

Best wishes for the rest of your journey! I'm going with Vancouver Consulate too, so post how it goes!

Sorry to be so ignorant, but we see "Touched" a lot in personal timelines...we were trying to figure out if it was the couple that were able to touch or what?
I'm seeing by this post that the paperwork is being touched... how do you know this..I ask this because I see dates by "touched"

Anyways...Congrats!! good.gif

If you're able to track your case online, ( you get your # from the back of the cashed cheque, or the NOA that was sent) and you track your case, if you see a new date, ( I think, don't quote me on this..lol) then it's a touch. I believe it may say "update" beside it. Hopefully someone else can clarify. Tim's doing all the tracking...and I'm doing all the writing!! See? We have a balanced relationship! laughing.gif

I have too! I really REALLY wish I had seen this site before I sent in my application, but too late now! At least I'll be able to ask my 20 questions (or more like 7593281 questions!) when it comes to NVC, interview, POA, AOS, EAD time...

Get everything in order now, what ever it is that you missed, and make sure you have copies of everything! That's real important too. If you missed any copying before you sent the package in...don't panic. Just pick up where you left off. When and RFE comes, you'll be ready... happy.gif

As it's been said already, not to worry. At least you know what to send back, and how, and once they get it, I'm sure it wouldn't be long before that beautiful NOA2. I also wanted to add that your spot on Igor's list is comforting to know, and that it would make sense to be prepared "just in case". We moved up 10 spaces from this morning. Still quite far down the list...but wow..sure seems to be going fast!! And I'm not sure I'm ready yet!! blink.gif

My heart goes out to you, and to all that's waiting...nothing more frustrating than not knowing when you can be with your loved one.

Tim and I JUST started this process, but I have a strong feeling that even though our timeline estimates the end of June, beginning of July, we'll hear something before then. Seems to be the average around here...

*Course...I've been married twice before, so who knows the goodies USCIS found when checking out the "families"...LOL

Tim is so impatient with all this. He doesn't understand there is NOTHING we can do, except PRAY. He want to contact a Senator now... whistling.gif and I said...um....don't think that will do any good yet...lol...It's going to happen...take a big deep breath. I bet you hear something soon, and then suddenly, it won't feel like it took that long! Just go over everything you need for the next step, and have it all ready....

I have a crazy question for those of you who filed your AOS. I was thinking about starting the G-325, and any other forms we could, just to speed up process after we get married. But do I do it in my married name? Or the name Tim used when he petitioned for me? I'm so confused. wacko.gif Thanks for your help!!

If you want your GC to have your new married name on it, put your new name on ALL the AOS forms.

Ok thanks! I'll do that then. From what I've read; travel isn't that hard when you have your AP/GC and marriage license with you. My passport will be in my name now for a long time..laughing.gif

So I just got back from my interview...only took about 15 mins and the guy was really cool. Seemed like a bit of a gamer like us (hubby is behind me saying "not a gamer, more of a snowboarding Bro"), though we were the first couple he's interviewed that met on WoW. Oddness..

Anyway, easy questions, we had more than enough evidence and he was satisfied with that. Then he asked if I had the I693 (vaccination supp)...I said no, I hadn't been RFE'd for it and I sent in the one from my medical which was less than a year old.

He leaves the room for a couple mins..

Comes back and tells me that they have to have that sheet, and they will give me the RFE to come back with it on the 9th or Sept. He says we are lucky because they have DENIED people AOS for not having that sheet lately O.o He buttered up his superior and was able to just issue the RFE though. So now I have to go get the last of my effing gardisil shots (my 2nd one bruised me internally so bad I felt it 3 weeks later) and get my form filled out by a civil surgeon.

So I'm envious of all you that got transfered to CSC..I don't know why I didn't but now everything else is pushed back (ie getting my damn license, getting my SSN changed)

anyway, thats my vent...I should be happy it's over with, but I'm left feeling a bit down.

Sorry to hear about the extra information. Strange that you weren't RFE'd for it, or at the very least, it should have been listed in the things to bring to the interview. On the positive note, you're not denied!! It will all be over before you know it! star_smile.gif

eek, trying to make sure I have everything together for my interview friday morning :S It's montreal nerves all over again!

and we are going to have to leave so early. My interview is at 8:45 in Durham, which is about 1/2 hour away. But we will have to try and get through rush hour and I need time to get through security there. I have a feeling I won't be sleeping too much Thursday night. Luckily hubby has Fridays and Saturdays off, so it didn't disrupt work for him.

I am getting kinda low about finding a job though. I've had my EAD for a little over a month and I've put out at least 50 resumes and nothing sad.gif What's worse is that I have a degree in Criminology which should be great...except most of it was Canadian law sad.gif I have to learn federal and state law before I can do much in my field *sigh* Oh well, just hope for the best I guess smile.gif

I'm sure you'll both be fine..but I can appreciate how you feel. I really don't like interviews! And best wishes for getting a job in your field! I'm sure you learn what you need to in no time! With the knowledge you have now, it won't take long to add federal and state law, would it. I mean, it's not like starting over is it?

It's definitely true that AOS applications are being processed fast - I just received an email from CRIS saying they've ordered production of my green card. Only took two months, no interview because my file went through CSC.

Just as an FYI - I only sent in a copy of the vaccination report from medical, I didn't have it re-transcribed. But I also didn't require Gardasil shots, not sure if that makes a difference.

Wishing you all speedy approvals on AP/EAD/AOS! And thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice and tips I found on this forum - couldn't have gotten through this process without you. I almost can't believe it will be, like, two years before I have to fill out and file and track any more paperwork. I feel like that's all I've been doing for the last year...

Congrat!!! kicking.gif

I didn't require Gardisil either. I just have my copy of the vaccinations too. Watch everything change by the time I get to AOS and they'll want me to have it! wacko.gif laughing.gif

My goal is to get my package in the mail before September, we'll see how that works out! Its annoying because our officiant is going to mail the marriage license in for us, but that will take a week or two to be processed and recieved. We can't bring it in ourselves because we're leaving for the honeymoon early the morning after the wedding... So hopefully it doesn't take any longer then he says it will.

How long will you be gone for? We're leaving the night of the wedding and doing a 2-3 week road trip around the eastern States. I'm hoping to get as much done for AOS that we can, (forms etc) and then when we get back, hopefully add the marriage license, and anything else we can't get till after we're married. If all goes well, the beginning of Oct. for us. Still within plenty of time before my I-94 would expire.

Best wishes for the AOS. I hope your AP and EAD comes in sooner than you expect. star_smile.gif

Did he have any taxes withheld? If so, i twould be prudent for him to fill out the paperwork to see if it would be beneficial to do . To me, it isn't fiscally responsible to not run though the numbers at least. The government might owe you money and he'd never know it... and the US government isn't someone I think should have an ounce more $ than they are absolutely due.

He can do it online for free to see if it'd be beneficial. Sounds like your situation isn't too complicated so it wouldn't take very long, either.

Hmmmm no, no taxes withheld. His last return, or filing was for the year 2007 when he worked the last two weeks of his job before filing for disability. That didn't start for him until August or Sept. of that year. He hasn't filed since. Guess he figures because I couldn't work here last year, I have nothing to claim. I don't know...I'm so confused...

I'm going to try to talk with again later. See if he'll at least call a tax center and ask someone. I'm hoping if someone in "the know" at least tells him what we should do...he may listen...
