So, at the end of my visa interview @ the Vancouver Consulate, the agent told my that my visa will be ready tomorrow. He also noted that a K3 Visa is a multiple entry one, so even after I cross with this visa, I can in fact come up back up to Vancouver anytime I wish to visit.

Me: "Even when I apply for AOS?"
Him: "Even then."
Me: "For how long?"
Him: "2 years, when the Visa expires. By then you should be in the process of the Green Card."
Me: "And when I receive that, can I still come back up?"
Him: "Yep. This is one of the perks of having a K3 Visa."

Can someone who is a K3 confirm or negate this?

K-3 is valid for multiple entries until receipt of greencard or expiration of visa... the CBP person was absolutely correct.

Cool!! Congrats!!! Does this mean you can keep you job for now??? *still wondering how all this immigration stuff works..lol*

Hey everyone My husband and I went to our interview on Tuesday. Our interview was scheduled for 7:30 AM so we got there at 6:30AM what were we thinking. well we went to through the security checkpoint and joined the long line of people. we got our number it was A118, A man named Kevin cracked some jokes and gave some directions. Shortly after they started calling numbers 106, 137................................ almost everyone in the room went and then it was just me and my hubby. we sat their and talked and played with each other some PDA but not much. Finally A118 was called by a lady at the end window next to the wall, she asked for the little paperwork they had given us and my husband's Medical and if he had ever been to the U.S before and then asked us to take a seat and wait for our number to be called. About 10 min later a young white lady she is American called out number. She asked me who I was and asked for my ID. She then had us swear in and then asked me to sit, asked my husband to pick up the phone and interviewed him. She then called me and interview me. She asked him where I lived, what I did for a living, do I have any kids, how long have I been in the states and when I would be leaving Jamaica and I almost forgot, she asked how we meet each other. She asked me Do I have kids, Does he have kids and what the Childs name was and do I plan on filing for her, How did we meet and what I did for a living. She then told me to have my baby join me and then said.... YOUR VISA IS APPROVED. I started crying and kissing my husband. paid for DHL to deliver it to Kingston so we can travel to pick it up..... I am soo happy now what is best Air Jamaica or American. I can come home to my best friend every day and he and I can talk side y side every night.

Congratulations on your approval kicking.gif Enjoy your new life together

Ok I apologize in advance. Today I had such a bad day and I just want to be held by Deus. I was accepted into grad school today which is great but I could not stop crying. I still have not called Deus to tell him my great news because of the time difference. I was sitting in the bathroom at work crying and I could not figure out why. I have been so caught up with everything else in my life I did not realize that today represents six years since my mother moved on to heaven. This is one of those days that makes me realize how much I want him hear to hold me. I am trying to be strong but the tears will not stop flowing. I know there is nothing you guys can do I just look at you as a part of my extended family now. This is really I hard journey to have to go through alone. crying.gif

awwwww natay, I'm so sorry. I know how hard it can be. My late husband passed away 5 years ago, and since meeting Tim, I always found it hard we weren't together. Especially since the date is July 4th and I really want to celebrate it with Tim. It would be a good change of how I normally feel that day. Next year however, we'll be together. It will come...hang in there.

That's great news about grad school!! I'm sure that's got to be exciting for you. You'll get so busy preparing for that, the rest of your journey is going to go fast! Best wishes for all of it.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support
I have a new question for this..

Tim owns his house...no mortgage on it. I would imagine that it could be considered an asset. Plus he has an IRA (?) I think that's what it's called..

I also own my house...no mortgage. When I sell it..would that be considered as well? I'm going to get a good chunk of change for it. I bring in a monthly government income as well. Not a whole lot, but rightfully mine, ( a survivor's benefit ) and I can still receive it after I'm married. How can that affect the income levels.

Tim is on disability, and although he is looking for work, there are MANY jobs he is not able to do for physical reasons...hence the disability...We're really trying to see about all other options before seeking a co sponsor.

Oh. I'm also going to be looking into the fact that I can collect Unemployment after moving!! ( I think I have to wait for my EAD)...but will that play into affect anywhere?

Thanks so much for you time and answers...

QUOTE (Gary and Alla @ Jan 21 2009, 05:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
They will have no mercy, are you kidding??? These guidelines are what support the "welfare industry" and MUST be adjusted up every year in order to keep the same (or more) number of people "below the poverty line" in order to justify billions of tax dollars wasted to support government agencies to care for the poor. there is no intentiton to ever "end poverty" there is far too much money and government control in "fighting it"

Editorial comments aside, (moi? ne pas moi!) the poverty guidelines will be adjusted UP on March 1, 2009 and take affect at the consulates on April 1, 2009 and the amount of adjustment will be whatever the government needs to keep as many people dependent on them as last year, or slightly more so they can say poverty is "worse" and we need to confiscate MORE of your income. It is, roughly, connected to the Cost of Living index. Expect a 4.5-5% increase this year.

Thanks!! I think.... wacko.gif Not sure I wanted to hear that...LOL...However, I passed it on to the one that's supposed to support me!! I'll just let him deal with it!! whistling.gif

Hi! If anyone can answer this, or at least know where to point me in the right direction...

I just saw a form that shows the 125% above poverty level for the USC to have for sponsoring. It does say however that it will change in the spring of 2009. Just wondering if it would go up from what it is now....or will they have mercy because of the economy!! LOL....

I'm sure my interview won't be until summer sometime, so it possible that Tim will fall under the guidelines, and I need to be prepared in case it's risen.

*which...like everything else...it probably will be...*

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDO YOU HAVE TO HAVE PROOF OF WEDDING PLANS AT INTERVIEW?
As far as I know that except for another letter of intent that would be addressed to the consulate, ( the same kind that went into the initial package) you wouldn't need other proof. I'm not sure if the letter should be from both of you or just your fiance. Any marriage intent that you sent with your package, would be at the consulate when they receive the I - 129F as well. Just make sure you bring additional proof of relationship in case that's asked for!! star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBe with the spouse for the consulate interview
As I'm going for K-1, I've asked Tim to be with me during the interview. It will be done in Vancouver, and I know that it's ok for him to be there. They may or may not ask him anything, but I know that for at least myself, I'll feel better just knowing he's there. From what I understand, it's a great way to show a strong relationship. I understand however, that not everyone can do this, especially with the way the economy is, but I encourage if anyone can be there, then go!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionconcerned about the support issue....
Thanks so much for these great suggestions!! I will be seeing him soon, and I'll be showing him this, and we can research out what we need to do!! If this visa was denied.....well...I just won't think about that yet...

I do own my home too!! With no mortgage. And of course I'll be selling it. I did read that although my income doesn't count, assets might have a chance...so hopefully, there is that. All we need to do is sail through the next few years to the removing of conditions part and by then, I hope to be working and that will help.

If anyone thinks of some other avenue to check out, I'd really appreciate it!! star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionconcerned about the support issue....
Although my interview is FAR into the future, (so far that I can't even see it right now), the only concern I have is the affidavit of support. Tim is on disability, and definitely will fall short of the required amount. (Which I'm totally confused about because I thought it was 125%, then I read 100%, and he's not military, never was, *heads spinning with this*). Anyway, I mentioned about a co sponsor, but I don't think that sat well with him. I think the way he looks at it, he's petitioning for me, so he should be able to support me. ( I can really appreciate how he feels).

He will be with me at time of the interview, and what I'm thinking is that if he had all the right documents of a co sponsor, (bank statements, tax returns, etc) with him, but NOT included with the package to present the interviewer, just going on his alone, then if it was said to me "everything is good, but you need a co sponsor", I'd be able to go get it then and there.

Not really sure I'm asking a question here, (it's the blonde in me), but just seeing whether or not this would be a good idea. I know we need someone else. It's not like they actually need to support us, but it's for the approval of the visa. Tim owns his house and holds no mortgage, so I hoping that might be a factor somewhere along the line.

Oy ve!! This whole process sure does question ones sanity!! wacko.gif

Hi Prima and Jay
I am panicked that we will be asked for a co-sponsor at the interview too. Can I ask why specifically the CO turned you down?

From what I have read if this happens the delay will be 2 weeks from the day the consulate courier collects signed forms from co-sponsor...am i right?

Sorry things weren't smooth sailing for you.

Aoife.

his gross on the tax return was just below poverty level, recently changed jobs. she didn t accept employer letter all they are conerned about is the tax return

Sorry to hear it didn't go as smoothly, but know that you're not turned down! If getting the requirements for a co sponsor is all you need, then that's good. I hope there is someone available. Did he not have any assets to claim?
