Canadaform 156, 156K-not in packet 3
QUOTE (minnew @ Jun 7 2009, 07:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am confused TimandJoyce, did you fax back the DS-230 Part I to receive your interview date as it says in Step 1 of Packet 3? There is also the Part II of the DS-230 which I brought to the interview in case, and they took it, but I cannot remember if they made me sign that form when they collected my documents. I think there was two forms to sign in front of the person who collects the documents but which ones I cannot remember. I brought a copy of the DS-230 Part II, DS-156 (2 copies printed off) and the DS-156K to the interview.

Edit: Vancouver does not use the online DS-160, just the DS-156 and DS-156K

No, I didn't get the date because of that. I did fax off part one only of DS-230, and like yourself, bring part two with me, just in case. I got my appointment after faxing off the checklist, except of course, my medical is the next day, and they are aware of that. (I'm bringing the emails to show that too!) I had heard that Vancouver was booked up all of June, so I faxed the check list in early May. I was so happy to see a June 23rd date!! Maybe because I put intended date of marriage as Sept. 5th. (even though it's gotten changed since then)

wow I did a lot more printing off of things tonight, pics; forms, etc. I think I'm going to be ready for this!! happy.gif Waiting for Tim to send up some goodies for me...you know..the support issue.

I left another note in the Vancouver interview thread, if anyone can answer. I'm curious about the "self supporting" part of the evidence of support.

If I remember right... part 2 of one of the forms was the same as the 156 and possibly the 156K. Also, if I remember right, since the online form was still be "tried", we had to do it ALL! LOL So, my guess is, they've worked out the kinks of the online forms and the duplicity is being reduced in forms/information.

I'd recommend emailing the Embassy/Consulate for verification. Good luck!

Yeah, I was thinking that. Course, I'll also have the packet with me, including the instructions that I printed off and they can see it didn't mention it. I'll email them, and if they want me to do it then I will, and also bring the required forms, because that was what they expected of me anyways?

Did that make sense??? blink.gif I think I need a coffee....

How Strange. I got my instructions, for the Vancouver Consulate, in early May, telling me where to go on the website, to fill out my forms and 156 and 156K are on them of what to bring. This was the revised 05/06/09 forms. No mention of the ds-230. I'm going to guess that my instruction where sent out before the change? My interview is soon, and with no contact as to fill out the new form. I'll fill out the ones from the list and hope they're happy!! unsure.gif

CanadaWhich flag do you put out?
Well, I really can't answer in the poll as I'm not south yet!!

I don't put out a flag here at home, and Tim doesn't have a flag at his house either, but if it counts for anything, we're going to have a small Canadian and American flag on the head table at our reception. wub.gif

Huggles!! I found that website!! I hope it's ok to post it here....

http://www.hrsdc.gc..../survivor.shtml

Just scroll down until you find the question: "what if I move?" and click on the direct deposit link, it will take you to a new page, and then see the question about direct deposit in other countries. There is a phone number you can call too for more info, but you have to notify them in writing about your bank account in the States.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the help.

You're very welcome... happy.gif glad I could help.

I knew I forgot something! I receive a survivors pension as well... It expires in September anyways, since I won't be enrolling in school in the fall, but I will be receiving it in June, July and August. I have no idea where to start on how to contact them... wacko.gif

I think I just googled survivors benefit for Canada...something like that..and found a great websit! Course..did I think about putting it in my favourites..of course not!! wacko.gif But it's a government site so shouldn't be hard to find. I'll look for it a little later.

What I did read was that it looked as if it was ok to contact them even after moving by sending them a letter, and I think there was a form to print off, and that they can even direct deposit into an American account as long it was American Bankers Association. I sure like that idea!! Even if I'm taxed a bit, that's ok, as I usually just pay taxes at the end of the year on that.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Denied K1 visa, 3 years ban
I'm so sorry for your experience! I really don't know to much information on those types of visa's, but I think that a lawyer may be a good idea, especially if it was one that you found out too late there was something wrong.

Shop around with lawyers though! There are good ones out there I'm sure, but it takes a little digging. I hope someone else here can give you insight to the waiver forms and processing. Maybe see if a congressman or senator could help too. *shrugging about that one, as I'm not familiar enough with their authority*

Best wishes for you both!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Need help! visa denied under section 212(a)(2)(a)(1)
QUOTE (PB&JAM @ May 23 2009, 02:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
"your visa has been denied under section 212(a)(2)(a)(1) of the immigration act A waiver of the applicable is available." This was due to convictions from 13 yrs ago involving thefts committed by the UK citizen when he was 19. (i am the USC).

It will be easy enough to prove he is rehabilitated but I have no idea how to prove extreme hardship. I read the pinned thread and those examples dont really apply to us (no kids, etc). I am so heartbroken I cant think clearly right now. Some people say get an attorney, others on here said the prices are outrageous and one doesnt guarantee anything. I have no idea what to do right now. I am beyond gutted! All my dreams came crashing down! crying.gif
Has anyone been through this? Is there any hope?

So sorry to hear this. Hang in there. I pray everything comes in your favour. star_smile.gif

Anyhow, I'm sure I'll have questions going forward, and my SO is from Scotland so I found it more appropriate to post this on the UK forum,
as my SO sucks with anything paperwork related, from the NOA 2 forward this could turn into good comedy good.gif
Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Just about 30 minutes ago this notice popped up on the USCIS website and email was received stating the same:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On June 24, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

I just called Alla and she is still in shock. "You joke?" "Really?"

Documents will be finalized this weekend and sent off. I predict a Sep 10 interview and maybe the following weekend she will be here.

And I updated the timeline.

Phil

Hard to tell. I'd probably go with the suggestion of sending in the correct form, or possibly calling or emailing the center you sent it to. It could be a while to talk with someone, or get an email back. I think that sometimes, these "little" mistakes are overlooked.

Tim put on the affidavit of support that I was divorced, when in fact I'm widowed. The consular either didn't notice, or didn't care. I got the visa.

Now..here's hoping AOS doesn't wonder about it.... wacko.gif
