QUOTE (neiks @ Jul 9 2009, 01:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
People in general aready assume you become an American automatically when you marry a USC.

Isn't that the truth? I've stopped explaining to people that I really can't become a US citizen for about 4 years from now!

CanadaHawaii Honeymoon, Anyone from this forum stay in Waikiki??
How exciting!! I met Tim in Honolulu!!! I won't answer your question about where to stay, you've enough suggestions to think about right up to the time of your wedding!! laughing.gif

I love that place!! I hope to go back. Tim and I won't be, just because of $$$$, the wedding is going to take care of that! Explore, explore, explore!! I think it's the Shorebird restaurant that is right on the beach, and you grill your own dinner, etc, but what a view to watch the sunset!! Course, anywhere you go is a good view for that!!

Have a great and fantastic time!!

They sure do want a lot of verification!!

Yes alot... it's kind of annoying but well worth it in the end! They have to prevent money laundering, fraud, etc.

I'm going to sign up before I leave, and use Tim's account for now. I assume it would be easy to change later if I needed too?

What kind of I.D and verification to they need? I hope I don't have to scan anything to send them, as my scanner/printer broke a while back, and I don't want to buy a new one! The closure of the sale of my house happens the day before I move, so I will want to transfer some money to help pay for wedding/honeymoon/AOS...

CanadaHelp me
wow Beans...I'm so sorry. You have to send Woking medical results from your own doctor to explain the situation? And then they will forward on your results to the Consulate? Not sure if I read that right. Get someone to make an appt. with your doctor ASAP and get home. I'm sure this will all work out, and it's only going to be a small delay. Did you give the Consulate a X-press post envelope? That way they'll mail out your visa etc? Did they keep your passport? Those are all good signs.

Hang in there Beans. We're all rooting for you!

Ohmygosh, you guys are so awesome! Thank you for all the b'day wishes. luv.gif

So.... the bio facial. Basically, it was a light acid peel and then some sort of stuff worked into the skin which freezes the muscles (I'm pretty sure she said "freezes" but I could be wrong). Anyway, there was a definite difference. My face isn't paralyzed or anything laughing.gif but the fine lines around the eyes are gone and my lips are all plumped up. (She laid some sort of gauze soaked thing on top for a while.) It also came with a foot and shoulder massage, which was awesome. And then I had a bit of a natter with the people who worked there and one of the other clients. I felt like I was hanging out with my friends at a social event! I got caught up on all the gossip of the town and everything! laughing.gif It was so much fun.

Oh! The surprise was flowers! He had to go out for them because 1) he takes them one of my vases because I already have a zillion of them and I don't need a zilliion and one. And, 2) the last time that florist delivered me flowers at Valentines they stunk to high heaven of smoke. The delivery guy just reeked of it. Unfortunately, they are the only florist in town but, personally, I would just buy flowers at the local Albertsons because they stock some really lovely ones for a very good price. But it's the thought that counts so I wasn't about to complain. laughing.gif

Then he took me to my favourite restaurant in Orlando..... Sushi Katana. And then we came back to our town and had gellati. It was a really lovely day, really.

Ah yes!! Just the way to get spoiled! Glad you had a wonderful birthday Krikit!!

I have to admit, I'm sooooo looking forward to next Feb. when I'll get to spend my birthday with Tim again. He kinda likes to spoil me too! *gushes*

. I'm working on a medical transcription course so I can eventually work from home in my PJ's and not have to deal with people much at all.

Whats this all about. I'm interested to know!

I'm taking a course through Career Step. Basically you transcribe doctors dictation on operations, clinic visits etc. While there is quite a bit of medical lingo you need to learn, it doesn't take long to figure out new words based on basic root words. I'm at an advantage as having grown up in Brampton, the 'English as a 2nd language' folks sound perfectly normal to me. smile.gif Once I've graduated and am employed, I'll be working from home. Of course, it is performance based, so once you get the swing of things, there is pretty good money to be made.

You know...I'm kinda interested in looking into that myself!! Wish I knew about it here first before now..but only just heard about it recently. I think I can type fast enough..several online typing tests to be found, and so far my highest is at 47 w/p/m. Not real fast as some jobs go, but hopefully fast enough for this. I would LOVE to do this from home, and you can certainly control how busy you want to be.

OOPPPS forgot to add, I'm currently working for Curves for Women. I love that job too, so if I look into taking the course for transcriber, I'd love to be able to keep working for Curves a couple days a week. One never knows. The girl in SC asked if I'd be interested in staying with the company when I move... happy.gif

I was going to call them as the first page looked a little confusing; residing country, reason for transfer, etc. And I had hoped that it would be ok to use Tim's account for now, and possibly change it once I had my own. Tim uses a calling card called Penny Talk. He has it automatically updated online when it runs out. It used to be 2 cents / minute to call Canada, but I think it is now 1 cent. And apparently you can use it out of Canada now too! Before you could only use it in the States.

You're right, they don't issue the visa the same day, it's always the next day. We were there a total of three days, we had the interview on Tuesday, Medical on Wednesday and then picked up the visa on Thursday. At least you live a little bit closer by, so it's not so bad.

Is that common? To have the interview first and the medical the next day? I guess if you know you're healthy, it's easy to see that on the results when you go back to pick up the visa. Probably the best thing then for me to do is try to plan the medical as close to the interview then, providing I get the results right away. I know a few people on the Mainland, so hopefully I'll be able to stay with someone then...cheaper that way.

$350? Sheesh and I thought $275 was too much. The staff that works there are nice people. But I absolutely loathe the gotta be there at 6:30AM and be there until 2PM approach to doing things. I could never get there in time from Van. Island. So I had to stay the night in Vancouver. Seems like every other office in Canada has you go in and you're done within an hour. None of this hang around for 8 hours bored out of your tree routine like in BC.
