Just got an email from my brother, he found Max this morning. He was sitting on the back step of the house waiting to be let in. Poor fat Max.

That's great. I hope everything is going alright for everyone else, considering.

Great laughing.gif

So this house my Husband popped by to see last night, on his way home. It's pretty darn cute - older house very near downtown. The rent is 1095 - but the utilities - that's putting me off. I haven't called the guy back, I will - but i'm thinking it's a no-go.

Hope you're able to find something soon and to you're liking!! And that there will be no pressure for anything...

Ugh. Ain't that the truth. With my first pregnancy, all I could keep down was Red Delicious apples for the 1st trimester. For my 2nd pregnancy it was milkshakes. For 3 entire months I consumed nothing but Red Delicious apples or milkshakes. Yeah. I don't consume those anymore. Kraft Dinner I don't want to eat...but peanut butter....YUM!!

So the interview went well yesterday.

I have a follow up interview on Monday with the Manager who makes the final decision. I think yesterday's interview was more of a "Lets see if this person can handle the job" type interview and if they make their recommendation maybe we'll hire her.

Because Kettler is where the Washington Capitals practice and hold events and such, all employees have to have extensive background checks. I told him I've passed quite a few, so you shouldn't have a problem with me laughing.gif

One of the questions he asked was How would you react if Alex Ovechkin walked into the Pro Shop. I told him that would be pretty cool, but I wouldn't freak out like a crazy fan or anything....my husband on the other hand though... whistling.gif

So we'll see how monday goes!

I do know about the arms out deal. But it only happens in Canadian airports! I have a barrette in my hair and it always sets off the metal detectors. But never the ones in the States. Yay!

I had to bring Canadian corn syrup to the US so I could make proper buttertarts. The American corn syrup is so different it changes the results. For some reason they don't sell individual tart shells in the US. If you really don't feel like making your own pastry, just buy the pie shells and cut it into tart shells.

Thanks for the advice!! I didn't need the syrup for the squares..maybe that's why they tasted different..and I'll remember that about the pastry....

*Going to have to contact a family member for a care package* laughing.gif

Hope everyone had a great weekend smile.gif

I really love my new job, I was supposed to be part-time until January and they asked me to start full-time in 2 weeks! They said they are happy with me and can see I am a great addition to their team luv.gif Everyone is so sweet and nice there. I was kind of looking forward to part-time for a few months laughing.gif But I'll be happy to be full-time! More money and responsibility, yay!!

That's great!! I'm still loving the fact I'm not working..laughing.gif Course, by spring it may be a different story..

Well, my Nanaimo Bars were a hit today!! Even without the custard powder..*but then, no one here knew any difference..laughing.gif * And I also made some butter tart squares. They turned out good, but for some reason didn't *quite* taste like butter tarts, probably because it wasn't in tart shells. I gotta find some of those or at least the foil cups to make my own pastry. *Ugh...very difficult...I've done it before* The main thing is Tim liked them...

Gotta bring in some Canadian cooking around here...And the fact the Naniamo Bars were founded only an hour away from where I grew up!! smile.gif

Boy I'm feeling homesick. I just got an email from one of my best friends and things are just not good with her at home right now. So she vented a little. Makes me with I could be there for her. I bought her some souvenirs when on our honeymoon, so I think I'll get those ready to send to her, may cheer her up a little. That and we'll make a "date" to chat online. ( there's a 3 hour time difference between us now).

Any one ever find Bird's custard powder anywhere? I could get it easy back home, but I get blank stares when I ask for it here laughing.gif I want to make some Nanaimo Bars, and read I could use instant vanilla pudding instead. I hope it works good! I think I need a care package..

Awww. I'm sorry you're homesick, Joyce. rose.gif Where did you move to? I always get my sister to bring me Birds Custard from England, but if you have a World Market near you, you might possibly find it there. That's nice that Carla will send it to you if you can't find it, though. I love our Canada Forum family. luv.gif

Thanks... I wish she and I could get together and have girls night. I'm now in SC and she's still in BC. We used to stay up till 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning sometimes and talk, and talk, and talk...

We can get Birds in BC, I used to get it from Safeway all the time. Guess I'll just see how these bars turn out without it for now.
