hahah!! These pics are great!! I love the cat pics, and the kids, and the cute sneaky kiss.. tee hee!!

Here's one of my faves from my fiance's most recent visit. We had a picnic, and I took off my shoes, then decided to try to take some pics in the flowers when we were done eating, so he put my shoes back on for me laughing.gif !! This pic was 1/2 by accident... haha

That turned out great!! I wouldn't have thought it was an 1/2 accidental picture! laughing.gif

Here's one of my favourite pics of Gene. We were in Homosassa Springs, and we always get our pics done in these things. He used some dried seaweed to surround his face, and it looks like blond locks! laughing.gif

I love it!! We were there last October!! Funny, but I don't think I remember seeing this, otherwise, I would have made sure a pic was taken! We got there a wee bit late, so didn't really have much time.

CanadaCredit options for us Canadians
sharing your pain about the credit rating... At least I have a visa, even though it's connected to Tim's account. Once I start working then maybe things will slowly change.

I did apply for a Belk card, but that's only because the lady said I'd get a discount on my purchase for just applying!! I was turned down for the card, but saved another 15%

Yup...K-1. And thanks for the reassurance I needed. If "someone" (not saying who) :bonk: would stop procrastinating, we should be sending out the application before the end of January. lol

 Oh I know all about "someone" procrastinating....

Best wishes Erin!! Keep us updated!!

CanadaWords won't fit onto G-325A
I don't think it will be an issue. I typed all my forms, and when I ran out of room and the little "+" was on the page, I just left it! Usually it was for dates, and such. I printed it off, and sent it in as is...seemed to work for me. Could be that most of the real important information was already there. I don't think there will be any harm in typing what you can, printing it off, and filling in what you need.

CanadaEvidence at the Interview

Thanks for the heads up Joyce :) I didn't think they would want to talk to him really, I just thought if things are going south I could say "He's here with me today actually!" ... fingers crossed it doesn't come to that :P

exactly. I'm so glad he gets to be with you! Tim was going to come up, but then decided about 3 weeks or so before the interview he'd rather put the money toward the wedding and honeymoon!! Hrrrmp. As if THAT was important

They are all very sweet in Vancouver. Oh, and you know about bags, cell phones, etc. Well, across the street of the consulate, I believe there's a passport picture sign in the window, it's a small store, they will hold your things. They have bags of different sizes, so the cost will vary. I had a small purse and it cost me $3 for the hour and half I was in the consulate. *Unless of course you keep everything in your hotel room*....

CanadaEvidence at the Interview
I just did the screen capture too!! That way...it was easy to choose the parts of the conversation I wanted. When we discussed trips to see each other..and wedding plans etc.

As a side note: You said you'd be in Vancouver? When I was there last June there was another woman with her husband/fiance. ( not sure which ) and she alone was called to the window. They never asked for him to come up. So be prepared as if he wasn't there. If you have Hong, the woman interviewer, she's a sweetheart. I really liked her. She'll ask basic questions, and actually, when she asked me for proof, I handed her the stack of pictures I had, she looked at the top one, and handed it back. She didn't look at anything else.

Smile,be confident, and be organized. It's better to go with a little "too" much proof, than not enough. You just never know what they're going to ask for, but I believe you'll be just fine!

CanadaMy Montreal Experience
Hisgirl - I'm so sorry! Like the others I hope it gets resolved quickly. Maybe even disclosing a bit of information, either in this thread or the CR-1 thread, and you may find someone in a very similar situation. Then, perhaps just start private messaging each other, that way, no one else needs to know all the details. I hope you find all the solutions. (F) (hugs)

CanadaWhich Forums Do You Like to Check Out?
I used to stick with the K-1 and OT threads a lot when I first joined VJ. But now just seem to stick with just the Canada forum. Although I love meeting new people, and it doesn't matter what nationality they're from...it's just that this forum makes me feel closer to home...

Just as a side note; I got all nostalgic and looked at pic's from home..... wish I had taken more, and more videos...

CanadaTransferring money from CAD account to US account
I signed up with custom house. They are out of Victoria, and will debit your account in Canada to a US account. It does take some doing to set up, have to email them I.D.and they wanted to see some kind of proof that I was moving by having mailed delivered to my new address, but other than that it was painless and I got it set up.

You can also call a toll free number and they are very helpful. If you're looking for quick transfers they'll do it but I'm not sure the cost. Otherwise it could take about a week to get the money. The first one takes a little longer.

If you want something now...I''m really not sure how to go about it. Maybe check out Western Union. I think they have outlets all over.

Oh..and just a normal transfer with Custom house is free.

CanadaImmunization
How interesting. If I remember correctly, I didn't need a consult with a doctor ahead of time. I went into the local travel clinic and said I needed a Tdap and they made an appointment for me. I did, however get a call from the nurse there and explained what exactly it was that I needed, as I really didn't need updates until this year. ( gasp...better find out where to get them!) So I made the appointment for actual "travel" immunizations that ARE NOT covered by medical. It was about $40, and no problem to get.

Is there only one travel clinic near where you live? Oh, and just get the blood work to show you've had chicken pox. You only need a requisition from your dr. for that. Too easy, and thankfully THAT one is covered!!

quick edit here. I'm originally from Vancouver Island and only had to go to the Island Health clinic.

CanadaDid NOT Receive I-94 at POE for my K-1 Visa Activation
Oh my gosh Ashen!! I'm very sorry you're going through this.. (F). I would still file AOS after you get married, and write a letter explaining what happened about the I-94 and that you're doing your best to replace it ASAP. You'll probably get an RFE which hopefully will buy you a little time to clear up. I'm sure there is another solution other that the expensive one.

Did you happen to post this in another forum? Perhaps there is someone else that had the same thing, or knows of someone who did.

((((hugs))))

Oh, and if you need an SSN for your marriage license, you can use your alien # instead. At least that's what I could have used here if I didn't have a SSN.

Canadarescheduling interview in Van....
No problem about a Tues interview and Wed medical! I did mine that way because I could only afford one night in Vancouver. What they will do is give you a sheet to say you have authority to come back the next day with the results and your passport. ( They will give that back because you need it for the exam) You will pick up the results of your medical at 2:00 pm in the afternoon on Wed., and bring them to the consulate.

The other nice thing, they will also let you know if you are approved pending medical, so if you already know you're healthy.. :)

The visa, however, still won't be issued until Thurs. If you can not stay that long, bring the xpress envelope to have them mail it to you. That's what I did. I flew back to Vancouver Island on Wed. night, got my visa in the mail on Fri. :).....

wow...seems so long ago now....

edit. They can move it to Wed afternoon, however you still won't have the med results with you as you need to be there by 1:00 and the results are ready @ 2:00. You could be there for a couple hours or so, depending on how busy it is. The visa is still issued the next day....

CanadaCan I ship belongings to spouse before entry?
Something else too. I asked the gal that worked at the Post office what to put. I explained to her the situation, and she said, " People do this all the time" Ask at the PO what they suggest as well. Sometimes, you can say it's gift sent back to sender. So maybe some of your things could be gifts he sent you. I had a variety of things in the two boxes I sent, so I labeled them as "pictures, books, frames" etc, but also had a few clothes and other things mingled in there.

The boxes were under 2 feet long ( 20 inches), a foot high, and 1.5 feet wide. It's amazing the things I fit in there!

CanadaCan I ship belongings to spouse before entry?
Hi there,
Just to let you know I mailed for medium sized boxes from Canada with my personal effects in them. Book, pictures, clothes, scrapbook goodies, etc. The first two I sent down with just gift written, ( and what's basically in the box) and fragile stickers on them. They were all about 50 lbs or so. After I moved, I sent my son a copy of my visa and I-94 to put on the other two, ( important numbers blacked out) and he sent them. I got all of them no problem, and I probably could have mailed the other two myself.

I'm sure if your parcels aren't too big, you should have no problems. :)

CanadaMontreal Consulate Interview Review
Wonderful review!! Sounds like both consulates have great people in them. I know Vancouver does. I almost .....almost...wish I had pushed for CR-1, only because it was a great excuse to go to Montreal!! I have always wanted to go there.

I'm sooooooooo happy, ( or hoppy ) for you Lgg!! I KNEW you'd be alright with the amount of information that you've received. And I KNOW all the others will be just fine too!!!

I'm excited for you!! :) congratulations!!
