Cool and overcast here so far - only 77 - I still have the windows open. We had a huge storm come through yesterday - I was working about 15 miles away when it went overhead and we lost power. So I ended up driving home going back through the storm and beating it to the house where about 10 minutes later it came over the house too - rain like buckets being dumped. (At least I didn't have to water the garden!). The temperature plummeted from 89 degrees to 72 right after the storm but after the skies cleared it went back up to 88. It cooled off overnight though and it hasn't done that for a while, hence the open windows smile.gif . More storms expected today but right now it is that quiet ' waiting' period before bad weather moves in. I kind of like it like this.

We had a big storm here the other night!! Very, very rare for us. A thunderstorm that lasted for hours!! Usually, IF we get thunder and lightening it will be like, 10 minutes, and gone. This one woke the whole Valley up in the middle of the night. There was more rainfall that night than we would get for the month of July. I guess over 800 lightening strikes were counted! blink.gif

Oh and speaking of selling things - we sold our car yesterday, the guy is picking it up after work today. My Husband posted it on craigslist, one guy emailed him (the car is for his wife) - the two of them came to see it last night and he called back a few hours later and said they would like it.

I wish I didn't get so attached to vehicles, it made me kind of sad laughing.gif

That's great your car sold! Sorry you have to say good bye. I posted an add for my dog on craigslist, and got a response the next day. I really wanted to bring her, but after spending some time with Tim in April, and discussing matters, there are several reasons why it wouldn't work. sad.gif It was a hard decision I had to make, but I know she's in a good home, and I spoke with the girl that took her, and she's getting spoiled!! Perhaps in time, after we settle into married life together, we can choose the right pet for us. (children won't be in our future)

Just about to head off to physio -I've had a 'frozen shoulder' that started in January and reached second stage about 6 weeks ago. Therapy helps but it is expensive- copay is $40 and I need to go twice a week. Big Sigh. still, I am getting a little bit better range of motion - but it can take up to 2 years to resolve!

awwww I hope you feel better soon.

Here ya go! ( I can't find a part that sounds like upsetting cows, I had to check. I love this song!)

The Proclaimers

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) Lyrics

When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you

If I get drunk yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you

When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man whose lonely without you
When I'm dreaming yes I know I'm gonna dream
Dream about the time when I'm with you.

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

Well done!!! Believe it or not, I hadn't heard that song. So in reality, I have no idea how fast or slow it is. However, I work for Curves and every song is fast!!! You should hear what they did with Wake up Little Suzie!! LOL LOL It sounds like the Everly Brothers on Speed!! Not to mention some of Elvis' songs! LOL LOL So...most of the song, to me, is very fast with words running together quickly, and unless you already know it....*shrugs*...guess the 1000 miles said fast sounds like..."upsets cows"...LOL LOL never thought to add the miles together!!

There's a song at work."walk 500 miles" or something like that. I don't know who sings it, but I'm almost positive there is a line that says..

"I'll be the man that upsets cows".... blink.gif

Now I know that's not right, but it sure sounds like it! laughing.gif

That's got to be "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers. But I can't imagine anywhere where it says, or even sounds like, being the man that upsets cows. laughing.gif

So..... we've had our trip to Vancouver and Seattle all booked since April, blah blah blah. Well, my husband's employer has scheduled him for a business trip to Denver during the last week of our vacation. blink.gif So now he's going to be leaving early and flying there, then he'll meet me at the Orlando airport when I fly back from Vancouver. Alone. Like all family vacations turn out. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

I think the line is something like *hee hee, you'd think I'd know it, because I hear it at work lots*...

I be the man to walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more...
*then the line about upsetting cows*....laughing.gif

I really could google it. I'm just lazy... blush.gif

Um...makes him work when he's away from home? Like no one else can go to Denver?? Sheesh!! He doesn't have a choice in the matter? I'm so sorry. Maybe something can get worked out.

The fiance and I just bought a new TV, its pretty snazzy and jumbo sized... If you're going to do it, do it right... right? laughing.gif

I have to share this!
I had posted my Vancouver Consulate experience in the same thread I started about getting my visa. In case you missed it, the woman, Hong, asked what Tim did and I told her he was a retired jeweler. So she asked if he knew where she could find real coral earrings!! She lost one of hers. *Um...m'am?? Could I get approved??*

So, the next day when I went back, I gave her Tim's email, and a note to say he'd be willing to help her out and probably make some. She just emailed him this weekend!! laughing.gif She sounds very nice even in her emails. Asked him how his July 4th weekend was etc, and described the earrings she was looking for.
Tim emailed her back, and said that because of the weekend stores would be closed but he'd look into it as soon as he could. He also thanked her for approving my visa and that we are excited about our upcoming marriage. She emailed back, with a little more detail of what she would like, and stated that she felt that we were really blessed to find each other. Wow!! Wonder if she could be a reference during our AOS!! laughing.gif

Actually, I think she approved me because I had an in with a jeweler that could solve her missing earrings. Too funny!! Bet emails between Consulars and petitioners don't happen too often.

Wow...have I got a challenge!!

One of Tim's very good friends is helping with the wedding and reception. She has some great ideas, and with me not there, well, really hard to do things..

Tim asks her what she wants for what she's doing, and she didn't want anything. She just wants to help. But she did say that a pair of Canadian earring would be nice. laughing.gif

You'd think those would be easy to find! I live in a small town, and thought there must be a store that has them! Hmmmm I'm still looking...

I'm going to Edmonton next weekend so maybe I'll find some at the WEM. As long as I'm not too busy on the rides... whistling.gif

It's not a loss if I don't find any, but I thought that it would make her day. Of course we're planning on doing something real nice for her later.

Hi everybody,

well after 4 weeks away from VJ, i am back !!!
My reasons? At the begining of December I found a job and started working so i can't be on VJ during the day and at night I didnt feel like being online anymore. Ii was so tired at night, I guess swtiching from being unemployed to being at the office all day kicked my a$$.
Then it was christmas break and we went to Florida for a week. Was not able to be online.
Then we went to France and same reason, i didn't have time to be online that much either
We just came back to the US last weekend so time flies, it's been a month since i posted something.
Oh and the green card was AWESOME at the airport, so proud to show it :)

So what's up, what's new :)
HOpe everybody had a good holiday and has good visa/immigration news :)

Welcome back!! Hope your trips went well, ( like they wouldn't..) We went to Florida too just before Christmas. To St. Augustine. Wow...love it. We have to go back! Ummmm we didn't get to France though.... *snicker*

Great news on the job!!

Congratulations!! That's so exciting.

I agree with you on the organization part. My interview ( for K-1) was done in Vancouver, and she hardly looked at evidence of relationship because she could see lots of pic's and piles of emails.. All her questions were very basic too. Canada10 months to citizenship. I am going to do it.
I too will most likely become a citizen when the time is near. For one of the main reasons stated by Ant.... the cost. I'm in the final stages of receiving my two year GC.. *still giggling like crazy about that*..and when I move to the ROC part of my journey....I wonder...how much will it be?? The cost of the K-1 increased by the time Tim and I applied, and it's a strong possibility of the visa ITSELF increasing drastically! We'll have to pay whatever the cost is in two years anyway, but I really don't want to pay again in 10 years after that. (besides, I'll be about 58!!) Not that there's anything wrong with being 58..but I really don't want to be dealing with USCIS by then...

Man, you people in Vancouver are lucky, not having to bring the envelope *shakes fist*

Anyway, good luck!

I brought mine. I wasn't able to stay for the next day and pick up my visa so they mailed it to me.

That's one nice thing about Vancouver. You CAN pick up your visa the next day in the afternoon. I did my interview on Tues, my medical on Wed. and couldn't afford to stay two nights, which is why they mailed mine back.

I know I'm a CR1 but I think I can honestly say, you are NOT nuts and EVERYONE goes through this.
You'll be fine.

I keep having this horrible fear that they'll ask me a question and I'll sit there like a dumb-dumb totally drawing a blank regarding something I know!

You're going to do well. You've gotten so much information that you are going to just floor those interviewers!!

Same here! My fiance will be with me there and I am also paranoid that HE will draw a blank and it will look like our entire relationship is a big farce.

In conclusion ... I think our fears are normal :P hehe
