CanadaTim Horton's Coffee Song!
That was so funny! Can't wait to go back in October and get me a double double!

I loved 'We stand on guard for Canada but we line up for thee!"

 I do too. Plus the bit about how we get mad in line up in traffic, but no problem when were waiting for the coffee! And that's the truth! I remember those lines!

CanadaApril Fools on the Internets!
No doubt the link is probably gone... :( But yesterday I saw on the Canadian MSN page that Canada bought half the Hawaiian Islands in order to help the US with the economy crisis!

I knew it was a joke the moment I saw the title, but had to read it to Tim.. it was good.

CanadaPreparing to book flight for med/interview in Vancouver, quick question

Wow, Vancouver is so much more accommodating than Montreal!

It is! My interview was actually the day before my medical, as I could only afford one night in Vancouver. So I just gave them my envelope to them on Wed afternoon, and flew home that evening. My visa arrived in the mail on that Friday :)

Just remember too, that the medical is early!! I strongly suggest to be there before 6:00 am. Between 5:30 - 5:45 would be ideal! They'll start seeing the patients at 6:30 and generally in the order you arrive there.
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-04-06 21:41:00
CanadaWhat??ARG
awwww Coralie!! I do hope you hear some positive news soon. Don't give up...keep knocking on the congressman's or Montreal's door!!!

CanadaAnyone have experience with filing for AOS after the 90 days?
I would think that it is better before the I-94 expires, however, you do have a legal right to wait until that 90th day to get married, and so it stands to reason that AOS would be done after the expiration date. Just get as much info as you can for that now, so that after you get married, you'll just need the final touches; marriage license, etc.

You will be MUCH better off making sure the actual marriage took place before the I-94 expires, than when you filed AOS. I'm sure they compare dates with everything.

CanadaVancouver consulate
I found these emails for you...maybe they'll help.

# Specific visa case inquiries - vancouverNIV@state.gov

# Fiancé(e) visas - vancouverK@state.gov

I think it was the second one I used to see how they wanted my interview set up with the medical. I actually got everything together for the checklist, sent it off and waited to see when the date was, before booking the medical. The interview was on Tuesday, and the medicals, (in Vancouver) are only done on Wednesdays, very early in the morning, ( 6:30 am) The interviews seem to be booked for 1:00 pm. So I flew from the Island that morning, did the interview, (approved pending medical), stayed the night, did medical the next day, took results to the consulate that afternoon, flew home that night, and the visa arrived on Friday. I only had to stay one night then.

Vancouver consulate is very accommodating, and they are all very nice there. I'm very excited for you. Enjoy your time together. :)

Ahhh I can understand! :)

When we received that beloved email for the NOA2,(April 16th, 2009) I was in SC at the time, and didn't get back to BC ( Vancouver Island) until the beginning of May, and Packet 3 was waiting for me. Don't know if it helps with timeline and all, but it is pretty quick. Have you started getting things ready? You can get your police check, and proof of relationship etc. I think on the Vancouver's website is the check list you'll receive. Also check Woking Medical. I think that may be the only place for that, unless there is one in Alberta  I think Packet 3 will let you know the CS you can go to. At least you can get an idea of all the updated immunizations required for the US.

How exciting...

I remember all this!

CanadaZed or Zee
Well, I'm one of these bad Canadians that says "Zee"...lol. Thanks Sesame Street! I actually don't recall teachers in school saying "zed" but maybe they did?

I did put down Timmies, but only because it's not here. I lived close enough back home for it to become a real habit, but hardly ever went there...

Can't really think of anything else *food* wise that I miss...hmmmmm love chocolate bars, but my favourite is kit-kat and I can get that here, ( when I want one)

Oh...the "ou" thing stays!! and so does "cheque"...

hmmmmm the "eh" thing slips out, but I tried not to say it to begin with, (even in Canada) because, well, I just don't like it.. so it's easy not to say it when I'm not around people who say it. However..the first time I go home..???? I might be saying it every chance I get!

Canada4 years later....Time flies by, indeed!
Cool Ant! Happy Anniversary!

I kinda know the feeling. One year ago this month, I came to visit Tim, (after my trip to Greece), and spent the month making wedding plans. On April 16th, it will be a year since we got the NOA-2 email. (L)

Now I'm married and have a GC, and don't need to doing anything until November of 2011. Ahhhhhhh *sits back and relaxes*...

CanadaPrescriptions of the 'Ladies Only' kind... ifyouknowwhatimean

My cousin got married when she was 18, and they had their first child pretty much exactly 9 months later (hummmmm right? :P) But anyways, only a few short months after they had their first child, she found out she was pregnant with number two. So, he went and had the procedure done at 20 years old. Well, unfortunately like a lot of young marriages, it ended. He tried to go get it reversed but it didn't work. That was a pretty pointless story but I've always found it oddly interesting!

As far as IUD's go, for you gals who have had them put in, whats the procedure like? For some reason I have this idea that it's a rather uncomfortable and painful thing... I guess I don't see how having something shoved up into your Uterus won't hurt  It's probably not something I'd seriously want right now, but after we decide to have a baby sometime in the next few years, it might be a good alternative to going back on the pill.

Wow!! That's pretty young to have that kind of surgery done!

Ummm I've never done the IUD thing, because my sister got pregnant when she was using it. And of course she miscarried. It was very painful for her, and ummmm the IUD was thru the baby... :(

That scared me enough to never want to use it myself. It was just one of those freaky things, but I wasn't going to take the chance of that happening to me.

CanadaPrescriptions of the 'Ladies Only' kind... ifyouknowwhatimean

Funny story--well not if ur a guy, lol. My cousins husband went in a few yrs back to get snipped after their 3rd child was born! Procedure took place right at the DR office. DR told him that he may feel some "discomfort" during the procedure. So the DR (so he thought) freezed the one side and snips snips! Guess he wasn't paying attention to the patients face as he was grimacing in pain!!! DR then freezes the 2nd side and NO PROBLEMS!!!! Patient asks when he was going to snip snip the 2nd side, and DR stated the procedure was complete!! lol Turns out the Freezing on the first side didn't happen, lol so he was in extreme pain, but didn't want to say anything, lol

:o ow!

*said quite loud*

CanadaGoing to get Washington State Drivers License

In South Carolina they didn't take my Ontario license away from me(yay!) although I think they were supposed to..lol and they only took one of my Ontario license plates..so I have kept my Ontario plate on the front of my car.

I'm in SC too, and I asked if it was possible if I could keep my BC license as a keepsake. I just thought they'd punch a hole in it or something. She said, because it's out of country, they can't keep it, but if it was just out of state they would, so she gave it back whole. Yay! I have the "pretty" BC one, and I know that they've gone back to more of a "bland" one.

Just tell them you'd like to keep your BC one. They may just punch a hole, (or not).

CanadaThe Canadians-in-D.C. Area Get-together Thread!

I count 5 couples. 10 people is a get together.

I would think that would be sufficient for a get together. Even if it were 6-8 people. Still be fun to get to meet each other...

....but I'm just saying..

*We wouldn't be attending...to far away....so my vote really doesn't count*...

Hope ya'll have fun anyways!
