^_^

I didn't remember doing it for way back when, and I definitely didn't do it for now...

but I just had a brain fart and thought "dammit, it said 'certified copies' of everything" lol

thanks d+s...

paperwork has left LA, so delivery should be monday/tuesday...

then I can't track it anymore and its all up to nvc... :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Currently I think it's taking a week for the AVR to update. Have you checked the May NVC thread? I know it's slowed down a bit in the last couple of weeks. But not drastically. 2 weeks for a SIF still ain't bad. Margeritas and Mojitos the day you SIF ...

And by the way ... $1200 on Qantas for a return?? Really, grasshopper?? I swear I checked those dates 2 days ago with Qantas and de nada!! Too expensive.

$3000AUD?? That's insane! Tony and i can fly to Australia return for US$3000 for the BOTH of us. Maybe you need to re-think your planned trip? Maybe could it be the July 4th holidays that are bad? Or summer holidays start here in about a month so maybe that's it too?? I know in August it's not too bad price wise but I looked at late November (to visit aus) and WOW, an extra thousand or two.

I was thinking it was July 4th holidays as well. But that price is for both myself and my daughter. We were expecting/hoping around $2000 because that's what I managed to find for May but then he was working on coming here instead. I did not expect it to jump so much in the space of a few weeks. We flew in August last year and the flights cost me $3000 back then as well but it was planned well in advance so the money wasn't an issue then. After this whole process, him flying out here next week and everything else ... money is an issue now! I think we're just gonna have to suck it up.

Good luck with your trip ... bet you can't wait to get back home ... :star:

I've also just been thinking...

With all the original docs that you have to send with the DS230... the travel.state.gov website (here - page 4), in regards to the biographic data page of your passport, says:

Submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s and the applicant’s individual family members’ valid passports. This is the page that shows the applicant’s name and date and place of birth.

Note: Do NOT send the applicant’s passport(s) to the NVC, just the photocopy of the biographic data page.

Please tell me that I didn't need to get it certified by a JP before sending it off to the USA?

Hey Bex - no, you didn't ... LOL.

I know how you all feel. We thought we had it all perferctly planned as I want to leave after June 30 but the cost of the flights is horrendous. We managed to get him here for $1300AU return. I only booked it 2 days ago and he flies in next week. For us to leave when I want, it's going to be $3000AUD ...#######??

Really? I had a look at the reviews here: http://www.visajourn...&cty=&dfilter=5 but they're all GREAT reviews. Are you looking somewhere else? Or are you a member of an Aussie CR1 thread or something and those people haven't done proper consulate reviews?? I saw a CR1 in Jan 2010 and it was a great one too.. maybe I'm missing something? I even tried looking for bad ones but the most recent was 2008...

I'm sure you'll be fine. You'll log on here and tell us how easy it was I'm sure :D

I know, right??? I read ALL the Aussie reviews from the past 12 months and they were all great. Then in the last 2 weeks we had Bacon, then Emilyjane and then OMG - I forget!! They DCF'ed just 2 weeks ago ... why the hell can't I remember and apparently they got grilled even down to specific dates ... :bonk: So I'm freaking out and I tell the husband. He is better with our dates than I am!! So now he is coming over because the military is finally cooperating and we have a 10 day window ... yayay!! He is like all excited ... leave starts on the 31st May and he can fly out same day.

Guess what ... because of the time difference he flies in the day after my effin interview ... :bonk: Why am I even friends with him???

horrible interview experiences? :uh oh:

I'm guessing I don't really have to prove anything to the consulate about having a good relationship with my mother etc etc do I?

I figure if I'm blood relative and have been waiting long enough, surely they'll just say yes without needing anything silly like that?

Show off ... :bonk:

Awesome Deb ... it will all start happening now I bet hehe

When do you leave?? You must be jumping out of your skin.

My interview is in 13 days ... It's Bex who sent his DS230 on Monday ... wohoo!!

Anyways, I'm not freaking out ... much!!! Horrible interview experiences coming out of Sydney at the moment ... :crying:

Anyone here from Queensland?? I filed an I-130 for my wife who lives on the Gold Coast and it was approved at USCIS and sent to NVC. We paid the AOS and IV bill. Now sending off the DS-230 with accompanying documents and I'm confused about the police certificate. Do I just have it sent straight to the Consulate in Sydney? Because it says that on the consulate web site that if you live in QLD or NSW to send it to the consulate. I just want to make sure that the petition doesn't get delayed because the police certificate wasn't sent to NVC....Thanks so much!!!

Qld Police sent mine directly to me so I could submit it with my DS-230 package as per their instructions.

Only member I know of who had issues with Qld Police was Sassy - they told her they had to send it to the Consulate ... not true, all the other Qlders I know of on here all had them directly sent as she will put the address for mailing on the application.

Hope this helps ... :star:

Am I supposed to sign the back of these 2"x2" photos?

I can't see where it says to on the website? :hehe:

Hey Bex - is this for the DS-230? Write your NVC case #, DOB and your name.

I'm wondering about these 2 photos I have to send with my DS230 that are supposed to be 5cm x 5cm...

What did you all do? I'm guessing I just have to go to a photo shop, give them the specifics from the iv.state.gov website and hope that they are correct?

Photo places like Rabbit do US sized pics. However, they're a rip off!! 2 for $17 (he did give me a discount because I had 12 done in all). Wish I had read on VJ first about what others did before I went ahead and paid for it.

I can't actually view that topic...

In other news, the June bulletin came out today... It's jumped 2mths closer to my priority date.

It's at 08NOV2004 and my date is 21MAR2005...

Could it be July? Fingers crossed.

If I can be living in Colorado before Christmas, and then it snows for Xmas.... This year will be one to remember :D

We had Xmas in NY and it snowed Xmas morning ... it really was magical. Never could understand the fuss until I experienced ... everyone should at least once in a lifetime.

Congrats on the PD movement!!

That's what Ham thought too. And possibly the fact that two hours after his interview is when I started submitting the evidence. So it showed that we were in constant communication and both really involved.

Average is two days to Visa in Hand after approval but since everything we've had so far has taken a bit I'm not expecting it until at least Monday. :P

Grats!!! ... very happy for both of you ... :star:

I'm sorry but like Vanessa's written - it's not an outright denial. Hang in there!!

I don't dislike the US. It's a great travel destination. It was never (and still is not) my choice of where to lay my hat for a permanent home. I dislike the chocolate, the bacon and the bread. BUT those are not deal breakers. I can live without those things.

I just love my life in Australia. I would not change it because I have no reason to change it. The ONLY reason I am doing this process is because my husband is in the military. That was a choice we made together. We get married and I give him the next 3 years until he retires then we can either move back - or by that time I may not want to move back to Aus. So, we shall see. I am approaching it with an open mind. Unlike a few others, it always has just been a holiday destination for me. I've never lived there so I try to not comment on that aspect of it. I also have to say (after reading a few other posts), my in laws (even the MIL) are fantastic. I don't think I could this if I had half the problems of others!

That's my 2c ... :star:

Fingerprinted tonight for my PCC. They reckon 2 weeks for it to be mailed to me.

Apparently it would've been easier to fingerprint me if I'd committed an offence though

If you're in a hurry, I rang Qld Police after a week and spoke to a lovely lady who asked me what I needed it for. So, I told her for a visa and that I needed it X date. They rang me the next day and told me it was ready. I couldn't pick it up though because they're on Roma Street in the City.

Australia and New ZealandHow did your family take the news your moving??
I don't have family to worry about but my friends are quite often really negative about it. I also have 3 kids (18, 13 and 10 - so any advice on form filing for them will be greatfully recieved lol), and my friends constantly bang on about what will happen if Josh and I break up? I just tell them that I wouldn't have married him in the first place if I thougth he would oneday leave me high and dry. i also tell them that i know my friends love me and would help me come home ;-P. I honestly just try to remember that they only say these things because they will miss us and dont want to see us go. Believe it comes from a good place and it is easier to deal with.

Australia and New ZealandAussies - which airlines do you use?
thanks for the info guys, definitely not going to do American, travelling with 3 kids mean individual entertainment is a necessity lol

Australia and New ZealandAussies - which airlines do you use?
Thanks guys, I usually fly Delta (syndey, LAX, Cincinnati) and book direct. They have usually been the cheapest for me. I also liked that there was no terminal changes, just into the hub and out of the same hub. I decided it was time to broaden my horizons and see if I could shrink the budget!
Amanda and JoshFemaleAustralia2011-08-28 08:33:00
Australia and New ZealandAussies - which airlines do you use?
So what airline do you usually fly back to the states on? Do you book directly with the airline or do you have some other tip for the cheapest fares? When we first started dating it was like $1300 return and now it is nearly $2000 and with 4 of us moving, i need to look at all options. Also how did you guys get your stuff to the states?

Australia and New ZealandCurious...
I understand that fear that you will get denied at the last point. I am still waiting for our NOA2 and am stressing that we will get denied at interview because I have a child with cystic fibrosis! My daughter is well, it's not on the exclusion list and my husband's insurance will cover her but still have this nagging fear.................
Amanda and JoshFemaleAustralia2011-09-15 16:14:00
IndiaI messed up

Well, I misunderstood PCC to Police Clearance Certificate instead of passport clearance certificate. Now the interview is scheduled on 16th August and today i came to know when i went to submit document at VFS that I need Passport Clearance Certificate. I am from Ahmedabad. The government offices are closed due to Holiday this week. There is no way I can get it by my interview.
I will appreciate your help. Just lost and do not know what to do next. I am trying to get an appointment but it is not available. How does this affect me? will it affect my visa approval? What if i submit it after my interview? How long will that delay the process?

Contact the consulate and explain your situation. You may find that your interview date will need to be pushed back.
