Australia and New ZealandMOVING TO AUS...HELP!!
Hi there, just saw this but here is the link for the visa options. Last I checked the application fee was AU$1,735 (plus any medicals, PC's etc).

http://www.immi.gov....isa-options.htm

Also, the application does not list income limits the way the US process does. Aus immigration may request a bond which is either $5,000 - $10,000. Note, they 'may'. It's not very clear. Depends on the circumstances, country of origin etc. and this is held by Centrelink for a period of 2 years.

Best of luck to your friend. Hope this helps. :)

Australia and New ZealandWhat happens after I-130 approval?
Forgot to add:-

The only thing done at Consulate level for CR1 is the interview. NVC processes everything, completes your case, schedules your interview and only then sends your file to the Consulate. Once your file is at the Consulate and you're ready to go, you can request to change the date.

Australia and New ZealandWhat happens after I-130 approval?
Hi - don't confuse the CR1 process with the K1. For CR1 no IV fees are paid at the Consulate. These are all paid at the NVC stage.

NVC sends the DS-230 packet for the beneficiary and the I-864 for the petitioner. These two run in conjunction so you do your bit and the petitioner does their bit. One doesn't have to wait for the other.

DS-230 once completed is submitted to NVC by the beneficiary. You will need a cover letter with the following:-

DS-230 Part 1 & 2 (only sign part 1 from memory. You will sign the other at the Consulate when you have your interview)
Original Australian Citizenship Cert + copy (if not born in Australia)
Police Clearance Cert + copy
Original Birth Cert + copy
Original Marriage Cert + copy
Copy of passport biographic page
2 x US passport style photos

*Include any evidence of previous marriages and divorces if applicable.

I used the Express International Courier at the Post Office. Not sure what state you are in but I waited until I had my interview date to schedule the medical because Brisbane did not have a wait for it. I did the titre blood testing while we waited for our I-130 approval and had all my shots before I did the medical. I waited for the DS-230 packet from NVC before I did my PCC but in Qld the clearance only takes about 10 days.

My husband requested all his tax transcripts while we waited for approval as well.

The Consulate does send the DS-2001 but that's just a checklist to make sure you bring whatever they request. Again, take 2 x US style passport photos. I forget them but had them done in the Food Court at Martin Place before my interview. I'm glad I did because that's the pic that ended up on my Green Card and it is so much better than the others I sent. You will also need a 5kg Platinum Express Post satchel. This wasn't on my checklist but thanks to VJ members I knew I needed one.

If you're wondering why they tell you to wait, it's because the PCC is only valid for 12 months and so is the medical. That's all I can think of at the moment. Let me know if I've not made sense.

Best of luck .... :star:

Congrats Wayne-Rachel - I love her name :D

Of course a puppy counts - then again we have 3 dogs and 3 humans so I had to have the baby to move the odds back in to our favor lmao :)

And as requested please see attached picture of the divine Miss Isabella. I've never had a maternal bone in my bone but dang this baby has knocked my socks off :D

Congrats! She is adorable. I had a baby boy on May 5th. They induced even though I wasn't due yet. My age made me high risk (apparently). :star:

Thank you, ladies. That's just about what I figured, no way to tell. Hopefully, I manage to find someone who is not having a bad hair day. And Vanessa, you've just reminded me that I need to notify USCIS about the new name ... :bonk:. Wish me luck!

Hello all ... long time. Hope you're all well & happy. Just a couple of quick Q's.

Has anyone been to a SSA office for a name change with their marriage certificate? Was it quick and painless or painful?

Has anyone been to an IRS office to have their ITIN #'s and SSN's merged?

One thing I have noticed, going to a doc is painful here. I've received quicker and better treatment at the emergency room than with my supposed family doc. I miss home ... :). TIA.

I came to check on the ex-Brisbane people. I had friends over here for Xmas. They went home last week to devastation. Kind of ruined the trip some what. We were all stressing wondering if their houses are OK. Apparently, my house was fine although the whole street was a river. So sad. Someone told me even Anna Bligh cried.

Hope you're all well and happy. :)

what EXACTLY from the medical does she need to send/take to sydney for her interview?

thank you for any information!

-clifton

Her medical was done by a US panel physician? Results take about a week, they ring you pick up your packet, it contains the DS-3025 with the pathology reports and the X-ray results. I know the panel physician in Brisbane used my yellow book for my vaccinations to list on the medical report.

Thanks for your help Deb+Steve. I'm slowly getting my head around all this. I think it's most frustrating as I kept underestimating how long the process would take. I guess we forgot how grueling it was last time... The K-1 seemed like a much easier process... but I guess that might be my forgetfulness acting up :)

No worries, just remember everything goes to the NVC. They forward it to the Consulate. The only thing you take with you to the interview (besides your evidence, of course) is your medical. No need to take the X-ray. If you're organised you can be done with NVC in about a month. Best of luck ... :star:

Hi Deb/Steve your account has been extremely helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to write that for us. I will be sending my husband to look at your post. A couple of questions. What is the cover sheet you mention with the I-864? Also, is the supporting documentation his tax history? How long did it take before it showed as paid in the online portal after the payment is made? The cover sheet is printed from the NVC payment portal. Here is the link, once you have your NVC case # you will be able to start logging in.

https://ceac.state.g...ice/signon.aspx

Takes about 3 business days for it show as paid. Supporting docs will be his tax transcripts for 3 most recent years, most recent pay slips (aim for 3 months), letter from his employer. If he rings the IRS he can have the transcripts faxed to him.

When I submit the DS3032 is that to the Sydney Consulate? Or sent stateside? DS-3032 will be emailed to the NVC by you. The instructions and email address will be attached to the email they will send. Takes about a week for this to be accepted. Once this is accepted by NVC, your IV bill will become available to be paid. Same deal, about 3 days for it to be showed as paid. Again, you print the barcoded cover sheet to send with your DS-230 package.

When I submit the DS-230 what original documents are requested? I was thinking it was the whole shebang including a police certificate, is this not the case? I'd really like to have everything organised to that I can send it to them same day, but I don't want to get a police certificate if I don't need one. :) Is the DS-230 etc. submitted to the Sydney consulate, or does it go to the US? Original docs are your Birth Cert, PCC, Marriage Cert, Divorce Decree (if you've been previously married), evidence of any name changes (such as a marriage cert if you've been married before), copy of your passport bio page, Naturalisation Cert (if you weren't born in Australia but have an Aus passport), 2 x US sized passport photos (NVC case #, name and DOB written on back) plus a copy of each of the original docs. Write your NVC case # in top right hand corner of all your docs (I used pencil so I could erase it). Don't forget the barcoded cover sheet from the payment portal. I will check my packet to be sure and let you know but that is what I sent from memory.

Trying not to pull my hair out too much over this process :) Serenity Now! ;)

Cheers,

T&J

Have we worked out if its okay to cancel the return leg of the airfare for our journey over?

Even looking at the prices right now, its $2k for one way and $1.1k for return... its bloody rediculous.

Hey Bex - V has one way flights to LAX all through August for less than $600. That's what we bought and the husband booked our domestic flights to Tampa from LA.

Australia and New ZealandLAND DOWNUNDER, Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi
Hey TJ

NVC is split between you and your husband:-

1. About a week after you receive NOA2, you can check the NVC AVR for a case #. Soon as you have a case #, speak to an operator and give them your email address and your husband's email. For reasons much like yours, my husband and I created a joint email purely for immigration.

Petitioner - pays AOS fee $70. Your husband will receive an email with the invoice. When it shows paid in the online portal, he sends in the AOS package (I-864, cover sheet + supporting docs).

Beneficiary - submits the DS-3032 (choice of agent) to NVC. When that is accepted, the petitioner will receive the IV fee bill.

Petitioner - pays IV fee ($400).

Beneficiary - when IV fee is paid, submits DS-230, cover sheet, original docs + copies.

Wait for P4 (interview letter).

The only pre-interview stuff you do as a CR1 is the medical. You will need your husband to pay as they only accept payment from an American bank account. You will have access to teh portal so you can pay it from his account if he is not able to. This is also where the joint email comes in handy. NVC will email you everything once you've given them your emails. Once your case is completed at NVC that is when you book and have your medical done.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else ... best of luck :star:

Hi everyone :)

I'm going through the visa process now. My husband and I have a kind of unique situation but I won't bore you with the details. I've been searching for the answer to my question but I just can't seem to find a conclusive answer...

I live in New South Wales... does the police certificate get sent to me, or to the consulate? The reason I ask is, I want to get it now, while we're still waiting for the NOA2 to come through. If the certificate is sent to my home address then no problem. If it is sent to the consulate, big problem as the consulate won't have a file on me yet and be confused. Am I right?

Please let me know from your experiences whether I can get it now and have it sent to me, or have to wait till my package comes through from the consulate.

Many thanks in advance!
Jess

You're doing CR1 so the NVC will request it be sent with your DS-230. Not sure of the NSW application form, but there is a part where you can specify your address. Best of luck ... :star:

Called them right on opening time - no time on hold = WIN!

Turns out that my case was completed on 10th of June... and that this "checklist" is because my police certificate was meant to go to the US Consulate in Sydney, not to NVC? (WEIRD)

Anyway... I'm sighing relief now because my case (Operator AND AVR Updated) is completed.

Might call the AFP tomorrow and see if they can send the Cert to the Consulate JUST in case...

Strange though - I'm guessing my SIF doesn't happen until my visa becomes available, which will be pretty soon according to the July Visa Bulletin :D

I'll be much happier when I'm not waiting anymore and I can just get on with life... hahaha

There's a couple of people who haven't had a SIF but their cases were completed so don't think it matters anyway. Qld Police don't issue copies because I had the same issue and checked with them as well. The NVC will send your documents to the Consulate so it won't be an issue at interview time. Mine was in my file.

Fingers crossed you have a P4 with a July interview heading your way soon ... :star:

Weird thing is, the RFE Checklist has all the details about getting police certs in every state EXCEPT QLD...

I'm guessing this means I'm about to spend a few hours on the phone to NVC to confirm ####### they're on about :(

We've all been done for that, it's a false RFE. Ring NVC and speak with an operator to confirm that you've sent the correct PCC as per their requirements. If you wait a couple of days, they'll confirm that they don't need it ... :star:

Today my best mate - house mate and brother from another mother of ~7years left to move back home to Perth.

With him he took the two cats that his ex gf and himself got about 1.5yrs ago...

I managed to hold back the waterworks watching them load the cats into the plane, but I'm a f$#king mess now that I've come home and there is complete change. No cats to annoy you or "not" give you attention... no best mate to speak sh!t with and be random... Its just a half empty apartment.

When my mum left to go to America, she left me here in Aus by myself and I think I did pretty good for that situation to get by etc etc... (I don't even remember being emotional about it - which is probably a bad thing  )... but this is just out of the ball park...

Webjet email this afternoon - V Australia Return flights per person - $987...

So I rang V Australia and spoke to them about the one way fares and they advised to book the return (cheaper) and make the return leg as far out as possible, fares are only available for the next 10 months BUT I can then change it. So, I'm thinking that we can use that return leg for when we come to Aus on holiday because they will tack it onto the trip back to the US as a return. At the moment, the cost of a change is $250 for that fare but well worth it.

Here you go:

I didn't check that you were CR-1 but you can see from the letter that it says "immigrant visa" interview. The envelope is the last one in the list. If you list doesn't mention it though that's not your fault. If you wanted you could always buy one and not address it unless they ask for it, and then you could give it to family/friends to use if they want to send you stuff.

Hope it helps. Oh, also, bear in mind my interview was a while ago now :P

Thanks, Vanessa!! Lord, my list looks nothing like that. My list mentions photos but not how many and it doesn't even mention bringing a passport and just like Candice ... nothing about taking a ticket. Thanks for that!!

When you get P4 you'll get an attachment that will list things you need to bring. There is a long list and they just put an X in the box of stuff you need. At minimum you will need to take your passport (duh :P), visa fee receipt (the amount will be listed in the letter and is paid at Aus Post), and a 3kg express post envelope.

You will self-address the envelope and they will stamp the sender stuff. If you like sometime tomorrow I can upload a copy of my P4 letter so you know what to expect. I'm just not at my comp at the moment otherwise I'd do it now.

Thanks, Vanessa. That'd be awesome ... my P4 has none of that listed. I checked the Consulate website as well and it only lists the documents for IV's which were already on my P4 and already received by NVC. We don't have to pay the visa fee because we had to pay that at NVC. Nothing about an Express Post bag but luckily I can read forums ... :bonk: So according to my P4, I just need to take my medical. I'd give anything to NOT have to collate evidence (see how well that works for me  )

It is cause of the holiday. Ham's been looking for flights for his family to come over before the wedding which is on July 10th.
