Australia and New ZealandSydney requesting another police certificate
I received the same when I did mine. Missing Police Cert ... it wasn't but they told me they would complete the case, forward it to Sydney and to have a copy of my PCC for the interview. I had a copy of it but they had it in my file at the interview and never asked for it.

You could always track your file and email the Consulate about it once they receive it. Best of luck ... :star:

Australia and New Zealandstill missing some documents- should I send or not?
You're better off waiting for the documents. It will take longer if you receive an RFE from NVC for those missing documents.

Australia and New ZealandMedical exam
You should all check on the MMR. When I had mine (after the titre testing), my GP told me that the boosters were free for anyone born before 1986 because apparently the vaccine has a lifespan of 20 years which is something they did not know back then. So, I didn't pay for that shot and I only ended up paying $40 I think for the Tdap.

Medicare didn't cover the titre, it was $158 but the panel physician's assistant (in Qld) advised me to have all this done beforehand if I could.I should also add, if you don't already have one, have them complete the yellow vaccination booklet. It's issued by the WHO and it's accepted in worldwide. It's easy and compact.

Australia and New ZealandNSW Police check - so difficult!
Best of luck. Seems everyone has trouble with the clearance in NSW. I would wait for it. I sent mine with my packet to NVC and still received an RFE for it. It took 2 weeks for me to clear it up and have my case closed (without a PCC according to NVC) and with instructions to take it to the interview when I receive it (#######?).

So, err on the side of caution and wait it may save you some aggravation.

Australia and New ZealandAustralia to US schools
I waited until July to move. One of the reasons was school for my daughter. She was in 5th grade in Aus and started 5th grade here. The maths was very different but a tutor helps and will be easy to catch up on. Spanish was new to her but she caught up very quickly. The school here contacted us over the Summer before she started and set us up with other parents so she would be well versed in the school system before she started.

I don't believe our kids are behind, just the cirriculum is a bit different but once they're used to it ... it's a breeze. The accent made my daughter hugely popular from day one so we've never lacked from a social aspect. Best of luck.

Australia and New ZealandMore police check confusion--the NVC says...
I received an RFE from NVC for this when I did mine. Missing PCC for Qld/NSW. It wasn't but I spoke to a supervisor, they completed my case and told me to take it to the interview with me. I know I had the right check done (NIB) but I had a copy of it. They had it in my file at the interview and never asked for it.

If you know that you completed the correct check, call and speak to a supervisor and make sure they're going to complete your case and send your file to Sydney anyway. Best of luck ... :star:

Hope you're all well & happy and had a great Christmas and fabulous NY's. We are freezing up here but on the bright side, my husband has new orders and we will be heading South in a couple of months and I cannot wait! We'll be in Nashville and I'll get to say G'day to Keith and Nicole.

Flights booked back to AUS for a couple of months... rofl. Employment contract earning infinitely more than US Companies helped, but it was certainly a tough decision.

In the interest of a working future, I feel it's for the best ;D

ps. no it is not my intention to "lose" my US permanent residency :)

Best of luck with both.

Reading the posts from those that are ready to ROC. I can't believe it has been that long already. Hope you're all well & happy and loving life. I'm loving the unusually warm winter without the 3 fee of snow. :) I went to Wegman's and my daughter found Ribena ... *&^%$(^ $6.99 for a small bottle.

Australia and New ZealandAustralian Passport & Name Change process
It's all Australian passport holders who are affected by the legal name change - if you're not Australian by birth you still have to apply to the BDM in your state to legally change your name. You also have to show evidence of residing in that state for at least 12 months eg. electoral roll or letter from GP. (I am foreign born and still have to go through this process)

In Qld - Qld Transport does accept overseas marriage certs as proof of name change. I had no problems with them or the banks. It's only my passport that is left now. It's because of the process that you've just highlighted above that I really want it done BEFORE my interview because the Consulate will make the appropriate changes.

Yes, and usually only the first dose that is required if there is more than. However, I am not famiiiar with the requirements for Vietnam so it may be different for your Consulate.

The number for NVC is 603 334 0700.

Haha told you how thing works in india, and it is totally up to you, actual fees to get an apostille in India only cost 50 Indian Rupees if you go in person...!!!

Wow - India works like Aus then! It's not the actual apostille that is expensive, it's getting the Public Notary to certify it! Can cost up to $150 per document for that alone. I had to shop around and there were not that many to start with.

Agree with Darnell. If your wife cannot get to an embassy/consulate then try the passport issuing authority in India. I'm not sure how it works over there but in Australia, it is the Passport Office that do the apostilles.

Hope this helps.

Asia: East and PacificBrisbane Medical Review

Hey Deb,

What do you mean extortion? Did they make you jump through hoops to get the "discount"?

I was actually considering giving the doc's a call before I leave in the morning to see if there was any sort of "parking" for the medical centre... might do it anyway just to see if they mention Sofitel...

Hey Bex - parking was not an issue. Just have the medical centre stamp your parking ticket and take it to the Concierge desk.

I was referring to the medical itself. I don't know what anyone else experienced but I did an eye exam, he tapped my joints, did a breast exam, weight and height, took down the details of my vaccinations from my yellow book, asked me Q's (at the start) and that was it. Then I went for bloods and X-rays. The medical without the bloods and X-rays is $270 and you can't claim any back. Lotta money for what was actually done. Cost over $800 in total for the offspring and I. He was nice, though. I had Dr Kable.

Asia: East and PacificBrisbane Medical Review
So, I had my medical today and firstly:-

I HAD A BAG BIG ENOUGH FOR MY CUP ... thank you, ladies. Appreciate the tip.

The dragon lady at the reception tossed my serology results that cost me $177 and told me that it had to be done on the day of the medical. This is NOT correct. I rang and confirmed this with them before I did the testing. I didn't bother correcting her and instead told Dr Kable who replied with ... 'we won't need it' ... nice.

I didn't have to bend down in my undies or anything. He mostly chatted - he was lovely. Did my ears, eyes, joints, breast exam, height, weight. Took my little yellow immunisation record and told me I had everything so didn't need any vaccs.

Also, I was not even asked about my last pap smear. So, I think if you're going to book ... try and get Dr Kable. I was done with everything including the Xrays and blood test in about 90 minutes.

Parking at the Sofitel is only $7 - the medical centre will stamp your ticket and you'll get a discount at the concierge desk. It was extortion, though. What they did and what I had to pay for the offspring and myself was ridiculous. We get ripped in Brisbane!

Thanks a lot for all your help! You're right about the spelling of Moldova :). I spelled it phonetically.
Isn't it weird that they would require that certificate? I wonder how they knew that my mom lived in that part of the country. They had not received our DS-230 at that time. I guess I will never know ...

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI need help understanding later part of the process
Medical - you will receive instructions on when to submit your medical, PCC etc. You book it with a panel physician in your state once you receive your NVC case # once your petition is approved and you've received your NOA2. The costs vary per state. The panel physician in Brisbane charges $470 which includes the Xray but the vaccinations are extra if required.

Passport - yes, you leave your passport with the Consulate (if your visa is granted) and they mail it back to you with the visa in it. Apparently, they request that you come to the interview with a 3kg Prepaid express post satchel.

The interview is scheduled by NVC with the Consulate. The process is different to the K1. Also, we waited just over 4 months for our NOA2 (125 days). Won't be long now for you.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Bank Account: Married(US citizen + Romanian citizen)
Well, the US regulations on bank accounts must be a whole lot looser than ours if people are able to walk in and add randomly to their accounts. My husband could add me to his account with no problem, I couldn't be issued with a card until I had a valid SSN/ITIN or presented in person which I couldn't do. (I have the ITIN so it's a non-issue for us now).

The ITIN wasn't a PITA to obtain. Better planning perhaps or understanding what is required to obtain one. The painful part was paying for a public notary and the apostille on my passport biographic page. Took the IRS less than 4 weeks to issue me the ITIN.

In Australia, no bank would touch us unless he appeared in person and presented 100 points of valid ID. I couldn't even make him a signatory or give him authority to operate in the event anything happened to me unless he appeared in person.
