Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC for K2 children after adoption by USC
I'm glad I found this topic. I had a Q about this as well. I was also told that even if my USC husband adopts my daughter, we would still need to file to remove conditions.

I guess it's so that USCIS can update their records. Keep us posted, as I will be going through the same process.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGreen Card ~~ Last Name Change

thanks for this thread.
I realized I would just wait until my removal of conditions I-751 before I change my green card from my maiden name to my married name.

But can I change my SSN and driver's license to my married name even if my conditional green card is on my maiden name?
Anyone who has experience on this?

Yes, you can. I changed my SSN to my married name. Received new card about a week later. Did an infopass to local USCIS office to ask about GC name change. They told me to wait until I file to remove conditions because it would take about 6 months for the new GC not to mention having to pay $$.

Spoke with my other half who is an Army recruiter and he says that you must have a 10 yr GC. He hasn't heard of anyone swearing in without it.

Best of luck. Keep us posted ... :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPetition for removal of conditions after divorce - spouse appointment
Give her an affadavit stating same with a copy of your orders as your reason for not being there to attend. I don't understand why you would have to be there anyway if she filed on her own because of the divorce. Hope that helps ... :star:

Just go online and complete the AR-11 for yourself again and send in the I-865 for your spouse. They will send you an NOA to confirm.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGathering Evidence ...
Gathering evidence and have utility bills in my name (maiden), the bank statements are in both our names but again, my maiden name. SSN is in married name. Bank statements and tax transcripts are in married name. GC is still in maiden name (cost and processing time made it a moot point).

Should I change the bills and bank account to reflect my name change or is it fine as is? TIA (hope it's not too confusing). :star:

Sarah! Congrats. Yep, here we go again. I'm due to file next month but Steve is away for a few weeks with the military so I'm going to wait until he gets back (just in case). It will only put me about 3 weeks after my window officially opens.

Congrats to your sister ... hopefully no dust storms ...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPart 3, Question 10

For the form on part 3, question 10.
"Is your spouse currently serving or working for the government outside the US?"
Does a deployment count as yes or no? And if so, are a copy of the deployment orders a sufficient explanation, if attached on a separate sheet?

Yes, you should attach a copy of his orders and write across the top of the I-751 'ACTIVE MILITARY'. Not sure if it will speed it up, but we'll see how mine goes as well. Best of luck.

I'm glad I read this topic because our lease is an issue. It's leased to the US Govt and only has my husband's name on it as being the occupant. It's not military housing but private housing that they pay for.

I am going to ask the Landlord for an affadavit and hope that this will suffice because I doubt I will receive anything from Army housing in time to file.

Same thing happened to me re the address ####### because I didn't have an active case on the system :S

When is your husband getting home? Do you know?

I'm glad it wasn't just me then. We find out on Friday (hopefully) when he will be back. Spending Easter alone but Easter doesn't seem to be a big deal in his family. Kinda weird for us, you know?

Our window opens in about 2 weeks. We received a letter from USCIS advising of this to our old address (lucky we still have the house in Fla) and when I called USCIS to enquire because I did the AR-11 and filed the I-865 (have the NOA's for it) over a year ago ... they told me they couldn't check my address on the system ...

Anyway, we'll be joining April filers maybe if my husband ever gets home ... :crying:

Not much movement from VSC! We applied for military expedite about 2 months because my husband got orders and we leave here in 8 weeks. We have not heard a thing. Faxed them all the info they requested and no one can tell us anything. We have even requested call backs and no one has called us or responded to our emails.

We did an infopass this morning at our local office. They requested our file so they can adjudicate locally so we should know in about 2 weeks if we need an interview or not or if they are going to adjudicate without an interview but at least we will know in the next month!

Well tried to do a walk in today at the Seattle office for our Biometrics appointment. It was a failure!

I knew the Seattle office was one of the busiest, but thought we would try since original appointment was on my due date. Got there at 7:30am and biometrics desk doesnt open until 8am. They let me in and stated to go to that desk when it opens and they will let me know. Went to the desk and they advised they could call our name if they were able to see us. So every hour a new influx of people showed up and every hour we were waiting. If you had an appointment you were there for about an hour. You walked in with a number they called it and then they let the person who needed the bio to go back. They wait in the back for the bio and then they are done. It was hard sitting there 9 months pregnant with no food for 5 hours and seeing everyone go back and leaving within an hour. I did ask later when did they usually let people without appointments back and she said it depends on when they have one of the biometrics staff with no one to service. Not sure when that would happen with an new batch of people scheduled every hour. We watched the room fill up and empty 5 times before I finally gave up. I will just have to reschedule. At least then I know the appointment will only be an hour!!!

That sucks. Best of luck and congratulations!!

I did a walk-in last Friday and waited less than 10 minutes. We were in there for less than 30 minutes. I won't be in NY on my appt date so that's why I did it. I was prepared to request a new appt with USCIS if it failed. I doubt it's going to make any difference with the actual decision.

We did a walk-in for early biometrics yesterday, 08/03. It took less than 30 minutes BUT I was given a whole spiel about how the field offices are no longer supposed to do walk-ins and I was supposed to change my appt with USCIS. However, she took one look at my 12 month old son and melted. No lecture, called us 5 minutes later.

Thanks for the advise! Our location is Seattle so I'm hoping we don't have to wait to long! I'm definitly play the pregnancy card! :help:

I'm doing a walk-in on Friday because my original appt day is a Friday. I read somewhere that if you pick the same day of the week that your appt is scheduled for, you should be fine.

Hm... we ordered ours too, but i didn't have patience to wait for them anymore and sent the package..ironically the same day the transcripts arrived (of course after i already mailed the package). BUT i included the first page of our tax returns for 2010 and 2011. On the NOA says that if we haven't done so to send deed, insurance, tax returns etc. Should i send the transacripts or just wait and see?

Wait and see ... don't send anything unless they ask for it.

PhilippinesBad news on interview for child
These are not obstacles ... it's life. It's easy to want to throw in the towel (been there many times in my head) but when do you stop yourself and realise that there are things in life worth fighting for. Like family. Don't jump to conclusions. I know of one couple who had a TB scare and it turned out to be OK. Don't lose hope and definitely don't project your current feelings onto your wife. I can only begin to imagine what it must be like for her at this time.

If your employment situation is not the best at the moment then maybe that is the blessing for you ... not a sign to end it all. Don't make this a self-fulfilling prophecy. We can only speculate, so here's hoping that your daughter is well.

Will say some Ohms for all of you ... :star:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFun and Interesting things to Do when she or he gets here?
We've been to Florida (will be living in Tampa) so did Orlando. We've done LA (meh) and Vegas. But the coolest for me was driving from NYC to Buffalo over Xmas. Loved driving in the snow. Saw some of the prettiest scenery in New York State but damn was it cold. So for me, can't wait for the next American road trip ...
