So, apparently getting a shipment from NY to VT is complicated and requires you to go WEST to TN before moving NORTH... haha... come on FedUp! I want my petition to get to the service centre sometime this year!

good luck!

all went smoothly with my medical, just have to go to my GP tomorrow and get some booster vaccination shots.

Ahaha, thank you for reminding me! My GP told me I needed to get booster shots almost a year ago - apparently my rubella vaccination wore off - I'm going to get that done asap so I won't have to bother later on =D

My I-129F will be in the mail in a matter of hours, I can't wait! Jesse has stayed up all night getting it all ready, he doesn't have work today so he's just waiting the night out so that he can go get photocopies first thing in the morning and then stop by the post office happy.gif

Good luck! I hope your process goes quickly.

Does anyone know what i can do if i dont have my immunisation records? Do they test for immunity at the medical?

Hi, I am in the process of organising my police check and the US embassy site says that if you live in QLD or NSW your police check will be fowarded directly to the consulate which takes approximatley 3 weeks. Can i get this done if i have my NOA2 but not my packet 3 yet? Or do i need to wait for the packet 3? Thanks!!

You can go ahead and do it once you have the NOA2...both police certificate and medical are good for up to one year per recent e-mail with Sydney. If we had waited for packet 3, we would have been waiting forever--he never received his in the mail! I got the info from the consulate through e-mail and we took care of it that way. Good luck!

Thank you!!

Thanks for your thoughts, i was thinking it was probably best to wait but wasnt 100%. I was hoping to move to the USA by aug. We filed in jan and with the recent timelines moving so fast were hoping for a quick approval. My job is highly technical and it takes a long time to find a replacement. Since i work for a small company i had to give my boss at least 4-6 mths notice of me leaving. I guess i jumped the gun but ohwell. I sold my house because of the market conditions. Houses are selling fast at good prices right now. With the economy the way it is i wasnt sure that was going to continue to be the case. I guess i just have to be patient smile.gif

Hi All, I hope that everything is going well and your visa process is moving foward.

In two weeks time i finish up my job and my house has just been sold. I thought by now i may have recieved my NOA2 but no news. Can i visit the us while we wait for the NOA2? With no house and no job, will they let me in on the VWP?

Your thoughts/suggests are appreciated

Hi,

I am expecting my NOA2 approval any day now and was wondering if there is anything i can do now to prepare for interview in sydney to speed the process up. I have already started working on the I-134 but is there any point getting my police check and medical done soon or should i just wait until i get the information from Sydney.

Thanks Jodie

Hi Jodie smile.gif Sorry I haven't had a chance to say hi to you yet ... Have you received your NOA2 yet? I'm a little confused, are you the petitioner or the beneficiary ... only the petitioner does the I-134 the beneficiary does the other forms found under downloads / K1 visa .... filling them in and gathering all the paperwork that you need will save you time when you get your pack 3 ... I found the thing that took me the longest was gathering the paperwork I needed ...

Hi! Congrats on your visa approval!! I am yet to recieve the NOA2. I know i only filed a couple of months ago and i shouldnt really expect to be approved so soon but over 60% of Jan filers and 20% of Feb filers have now recieved their NOA2. I hope that mine is in the post. I am the beneficiary and i know that the petitioner does the I-134 however as i have completed most of the forms up until now anyway i thought i would get started on this one for my fiancee smile.gif. Thanks for the tip, i will start looking at whats required! I hope to have some good news soon!!

I hate to be a a sad sack here but dont expect anything anyday now when the US government is involved, check out my siggy or jump in the 6th month waiting room, there are plently of people who have had issues with their visas even from countries considered low fraud.

For your sake I hope you dont end up in my boat (its a farely miserably one some days) but I do caution you against getting your hopes up too high this early in the game.

In prep for your NOA2 however you can do the following;

Get a report that lists all your vaccination and make sure that any MMR, tentus, Guardasil, etc shots are up to date.
Start printing off any Emails, Instant msger logs and online call logs that have occurred between you.
Begin putting together a nice little collection of photos of the two of you with dates on them and a written location if possible.
Download the forms you will have to fill in for packet three (from http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1forms ) and look to gather any additional evidence you will need for them.
Organise to get copies of the US Fiance's tax returns over to you, I believe they need the last 3 concurrent years, through check out the guides for a better response.

Remember that your fingerprints and medical, although they could be done now, are only valid for 6 months from issue so you are much better off waiting till you get your NOA2 or packet 3 in the mail to organise to have them done. From what ive seen it really only takes 2 or 3 weeks to have the results for both of those once you undertake them

Hope this helps you somewhat.

Mara

Thanks Mara. I know, im getting a little ahead of myself smile.gif Thanks for all of your help.

I hope to get our NOA2 any day now!!

Good luck to everyone waiting for approvals!!

Australia and New ZealandCanadian Criminal Record Check
why do they insist on the finger print check so much? It's so much more expensive then just a name only certificate.... what do they do that is so special with the finger prints that costs $100 or so? Sorry if that seems like a dumb question!

Australia and New ZealandAustralian federal police check!?
actually now I'm confused again, I read over that link again and I see this...

mention of a police certificate if you live in QLD
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you reside in Queensland

Check with your local police station if you need an appointment, then go in person to be fingerprinted. You must pay the prescribed fee of AUD146.70 (subject to change, please check the current fee with the police) and complete an indemnification form required by the Queensland Police Department. You must then forward the fingerprints, completed indemnification form, and payment to:

Inspector of Police, Information Bureau, Miscellaneous License Section, GPO Box 1440
Brisbane, QLD 4001. Telephone: (07) 3364-6854.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Then further down it has another section for QLD and mentions Police Records
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Available. Includes nationwide fingerprint check. Cost: $131.80 for certificate with fingerprints.

Procedures to be followed for visa applicants both inside and outside the country who wish to obtain clearances:

Inside: Applicant must write or apply in person for a "QP349b" form, which is the "Application for Police Certificate" and "QP349 form, if applicable, which is the "Copy of Own Criminal History," which costs an additional $36.50. This can be obtained by writing or calling the:
Visa Section
Queensland Police Service
GPO Box 1440
QLD 4001
Tel: 07-3364-6854
They must complete the form, attach fingerprints, a copy of identification, and the required fee.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So does this mean you are expected to get a Police Certificate AND a Police Record?!

Thanks!

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone could give me any information about the necessary police checks... Am I correct in stating the only police check you must provide is the AFP check? Do you need to provide inked fingerprints with the application? And finally... Should I have the AFP check posted back to me and then take it with me on the day of my interview?

Thanks everyone!

There's probably no real harm in trying! However I don't think they're really obligated to speed things up until a certain amount of time has passed, I'm not sure on how long it is exactly though. It's so frustrating, hang in there!

I see...do you think calling them for a follow up would be a good idea or I should just wait? sigh...it's a lil frustrating..
but yeah...hope it's not gonna be another 2 months :) hope you get yours too soon :) good luck :)

No prob! I'm not too sure on how long you'll have to wait, it could be quicker than that. It seems to be just luck of the draw, who's desk your petition gets sat on... I'm seeing there are a lot of July filers STILL waiting but then there have been some august, september filers approved already. Just fingers crossed you get someone prudent at their job. good luck!

You're a July filer??? and still havent got the NOA2?? oh my!!! so this means another 2-3 months wait for me? :crying:

is it coz alot of filed petition at CSC or coz of something else?

sorry I'm just new here in VJ :D

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers
So what I'm saying is if the CO told me to come back in a year and I would have better luck could one safely assume that for however serious or un-serious my charge falls under US law that it would be specified to the CO that 3 years must have elapsed before issuing a visa? I always thought there was not really any time frame that mattered.
MatthewKMale02012-02-05 18:09:00
Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers

How much time has passed since a CMIT occurred does indeed affect whether or not a visa may be granted.

Is it a different amount of time varying on each individual crime?
MatthewKMale02012-02-05 18:07:00
Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers
He cited that the conviction was reason enough to not give me a visa but I got a feeling he just denied it just because he could. I can't see how my charge qualifies as a cimt... There's not any intent to rob, rape, or kill, or any intent to cause serious bodily harm.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers
Thanks for your understanding Tim! That is definitely the goal here... I've already been denied the B2 about 6 months ago now, what was funny about that was the CO actually told me to come back in a year and it would be approved providing I didnt get in any more trouble. Strange huh?

Ideally we want to go with the K1 but I'm afraid it will be denied more than likely and we will need to apply for a waiver.
MatthewKMale02012-02-05 11:09:00
Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers
Lifesjourney if you read this post you will soon see that I did infact mention it was to apply for a K1. I realise I posted about a B2 but I done that post in the appropriate sub-forum merely just to see peoples thoughts. Ultimately the goal here for me is to marry my fiancee and be able to live in the USA. If I had my way I'd soon rather just stay in Australia, but she does NOT want to. :(

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)criminal waivers

Sorry Tim I should have made that clear, yes I definitely am the beneficiary. Any thoughts?

Australia and New ZealandMedical
Ugh so glad I found the Australia forums (total newbie here!) As I was wondering about this myself; I'm in Brisbane, and we just recently got our NOA1 (I think, my fiance got the text message and we've been given a case number and email saying it's gone to Cali, don't have the ACTUAL NOA1 in the mail yet)

With the medical, do you just have to make an appointment and explain that you're in the process of a K-1 visa and then they let you do it and give you the results? What about vaccinations that are needed? I don't really want to get them done at the medical as I've heard they are more expensive that way - and obviously I'd get them done BEFORE the medical. I'm 23 so does that mean I need:

TDap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
HPV
Varicella
Measles, mumps & Rubella

And can I just ask my local GP for those, and will they give me a notice I can take to the medical saying that I've had them done? I keep hearing mixed things about the HPV vaccination, some people say I need it, some people I don't.

Another question, and sorry if this has been said elsewhere, but with the police check for QLD, do they send it straight to Sydney, or do they send it to my house? I'm just worried that they will send it to Sydney and they will be like "Okay what is this random police check for??"
Katie & TrevFemaleAustralia2011-04-08 05:00:00
Australia and New ZealandAussies - which airlines do you use?
I flew V Australia the first time I went, which worked out to be $1300 in November, then the last time I flew I went United which was $1700 in June. That was from Brisbane to LAX both times. I found if you fly on a Tuesday/Wednesday it's cheaper for some reason.

I found United to be rude, right through from the check in desk, to the flight attendants, and they had no TVs on the plane (Both ways! Bris-LAX and LAX-Bris) so it was 15 hours of... Boredom. Felt sorry for any kids on the plane, there was nothing to do at all. If I get a choice when I do go out there again, V Australia all the way! The seats are a tiny bit wider and you get more room than United (flew Economy on all flights)

I use www.bestflights.com.au too. Kayak is good too but it's good to shop around to see what's best. :)
