K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Interview date!	Carebear....thank you again...I'd love to know your first name....lol! Thats always nice to know. My name is Brodi but people just call me B. And yes you're right, I'm a kiwi but lived in Aussie for many years (like most of us...lol) My fiance lives in Utah which is where we'll be moving too. (We...is myself and my three boys) They are very excited. Where are you off too in the States? I did have another question...(besides the one I'd already asked you on your personal page, so check your page if you haven't already done so.... ) I've been so focused on just getting this fiance visa approved so Mike and I could be together again but I haven't looked too much into what happens after we are married and what I need to do then. I saw you mentioned extra money for the AOS....can you head me in the right direction as to what I need to do once we're married? How much are we looking at?? This question is more aimed @ the Australian K1 filers......We sent our packet 3 back to the Sydney consulate last week and I'm just wondering 'HOW' they will let us know the interview date? Will it be by email or by post. From the start I had always thought that we would receive our packet 3 by post but both Mike and I received it by email which was fabulous!!! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Miscarriage/spontaneous abortion from the past can affect interview??	How can you even think about not telling him about your pregnancy? Any Dr can tell you have been pregnant before. You are starting a new life, why risk all that by not being totaly honest right from the start? He will find out so i think it will be so much easier to tell him now rather then have him find out later down the track and risk him feeling betrayed because you lied to him. Just because he hasn't asked doesn't make it right not to be honest from the begining... i wish you luck but feel you are making a terrible mistake by not being honest to the man you wish to spend the rest of your life with... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Plan for wedding?	I would say that the safest thing to do is not plan until NOA2. We've planned a July 6, 2013 wedding based on an August 2012 K-1 filing, and now we have decided to abandon the K-1 visa and go the CR-1 route (another story in itself) as with 3 months left to go until the wedding, there is a very, very slim chance of getting the visa in time, and we want to focus our efforts on making sure we don't have to be apart after the wedding since we've spent 7 years in a long distance relationship already. We have booked the church, the reception venue, the caterer, and also have a bunch of international guests who've made travel arrangements based on our wedding date, so moving it would be way too expensive not just for us, but other people as well. So yeah, CSC's delays really made things uncertain and made us realise there really are no guarantees, so if you can manage to wait to make plans, I would say do wait. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Fiance letter of intent to marry	People seem to be very hung up on the requirement being for a "letter" of intent, but the I-129F official instructions from the USCIS (Page 2, 5B) indicate that you must: "Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e) whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission..." This is from the official instructions found here. I'm not sure how nor where the whole "letter" thing came about, so the address is fairly meaningless either way. Jodie Hi Jodie, First of all CONGRATULATIONS! We have been married almost 4 years and I have still not officially changed my name in Australia. To do this you need to lodge a change of name by deed poll because even though they recognise the marriage they do not recognise your change of name. I still travel with my passport in my previous name and I carry my marriage certificate and of course my greencard and book overseas flights in my previous name. You can only obtain a new australian passport in your married name after you have done the change by deed poll because you need the certificate. Hope this makes sense. Oh and yes I am slack but will do it before I need to renew my passport. I did speak to someone at the Australian Consulate in New York and they were very helpful, so maybe call your nearest Aus/Cons and they should be able to help you. Hope this helps. Susan. It's really the only hiccup in our process because everything else is pretty straight forward unless Jesse's army history gets us stuck in AP ("other than honourable discharge" ) While we're on the subject, when does the I-134 come into play? Do you send that back with Packet 3 or bring it to the interview? The I-134 gets sent in the packet 3. I do not recommend that... the officials there are horrible...! LAX or SFO are pretty much your POE options for a direct flight from Aus, unfortunately. Curious, kaffy, I've never had any issues with LAX (other than the huge wait line at immigration) - is it really so bad? I'm going through LAX again when I head over for two weeks in August, but maybe I'll try SFO when I go over with my visa... I have never had any problems at LAX either but if you need to connect it can be a nightmare.
