So i suggest you to do the online way! Although getting the fingerprint done at local police can be a 'by chance' thing (In NSW at least), go in early morning i suggest, before 9am.

my USC fiance got actual letter dated Feb 14 as our NOA2 (I-797), then he got pkt 3 email on Feb 27 (when I called they said they sent it to Sydney on Feb 23). and he forwarded it to me.

You tried to call consulate Sydney? I think that number is not much help as you don't get to talk to any people, just machine give you standard info.

Best bet is email i suppose.

yeah don't think there's any 'set' order.
I just sent mine last Thur. I put my cover page (handwritten, list of things i included in pkt 3), then 'readiness' page, then check list then the rest. whole thing got a paper clip on it to keep them together.
and some are stapled together, e,g supporting document for I-134.

When I was worrying about my police check not coming back to me on time when Iwanna send pkt 3 asap, i emailed Sydney Consulate, then few days later (today) I got a reply!!!!

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Australian police clearances are usually forwarded to our office from the Australian Police Force offices, therefore, you may send in your packet 3 documents and forms without the police certificate. In the event the certificate is mailed directly to you, you only need to bring it to your interview with one photocopy.

So yes you can bring it to the interview!

um im still waiting for my pkt 4, i sent out my pkt 3 over 2 weeks ago (on March 16th). I'm hoping to have the interview no later than April 20th cos I bought April 30th ticket.

Some people suggested me to call DoS, i will do that soon. Maybe they got an interview date booked for me but didn't send out the email pkt 4.

I emailed Sydney Consulate after Vanessa suggested so, this time they replied the next day, saying 'we usually send out pkt 4, within 30 days from receiving pkt 3'.

for me there is no choice, only digital. I did it on March 1st this year.
that is also why it took so long and we can't make appt, cos the fingerprint machine is in the same room as they temporarily keep the 'baddies'.

DS-156 yes you need two copies after filling in the online form and it generates a bar code. you send both copies in your packet3 with your other files. DS-156K you just need to send in one copy.

That's a good point, I was sort of expecting they send me pkt 4 then interview is the Tue after that. I should get my stuff ready! Stuff: i think it's just the payment, then some evidence of ongoing relationship? I don't think I'm missing any documents in pkt 3, and my passport.

Did you book a police check? if not, that's the most urgent thing to get now! and if you are in NSW, you can get info from my thread too about NSW Police check.

And looking at your timeline, July 7 wedding you are pushing it. I handed mine in end of Sept, i'm aiming for July 7 Wedding too and i have interview date May 1.

You need to send in your DS-230 asap before anything else. But if you have all the documents ready (including police check, and your fiance's financial support form, DS-130 i think. Medical result can take to interview) you can send all together. Read your pkt 3 carefully!

I emailed them on Wednesday about moving up my interview and I got a reply Friday. They said they just had a cancellation and my fiance could interview April 24 instead of May 1. It's crazy how excited I am over 1 week. :)

It used to be (if you look at other Aussie's timelines from 2009 to early 2011) they usually waited a few days from when the consulate received Pkt 3, until they got Pkt 4. But from when they receive Pkt 4 to interview date is usually 3-4 weeks.
Now with ours so delayed I think the gap between us receiving Pkt 4 til interview is just one week, I hope! :blush:

oh nice. I haven't been to Cali yet (well, technically yes but i don't think LAX really counts :P). At least you'll be somewhere nice for summer, it's already too hot in Arizona, lol.


Hot in Arizona? um yeah some part of northern CA can be very cold in summer, like San Francisco city, man it was only max 18 degrees C last summer I was there. i only wore my dress twice from July - Oct hehe....

Document wise they don't really ask much. I didn't bring my 129F files, nor my medical files. I brought my copy of pkt 3 file copies but didn't need to use them at all. The evidence of ongoing relationship is also not asked.

If you don't have a photo printer at home to use with that website, you can go to Haymarket, I got mine taken ($12 for 4 i think) at a korean photo shop opposite Haymarket Post Office, that PO doesn't do USA size photos.

Dress code doesn't matter I think, i saw people dressed from casual to work formal.

Paid my visa fee at post office just now, they were having trouble scanning that barcode into their system, so they typed it. and said they only accept cash or eftpos, no credit card. lucky i had some cash on me. paid $240. and got a normal post office receipt stapled onto that A4 deposit slip. that's it i guess? :whistle:

Interview next Tue yay~~~ hope i can get the visa within 8-9 days.

Yeah i read the instruction again in pkt 4, didn't mention about the express envelope. i was wrong. :blush:

Yeah I didn't push too hard because it's a ticket and I can change it (the first time I changed it, they didn't charge me) So i didn't mind too much if i pay to get it changed the second time. I didn't bring my ticket to show them either (maybe I should).

So did your fiancee get it on Friday? Did she send in an express envelop with pkt 4? I didn't.

I wil check tomorrow (Monday) hopefully I can get it.

I went twice in 3 months and was grilled the second time by immigration about my intentions and given the speil about it being illegal to enter the country on a VWP with the intention of marrying an US citizen for immigration purposes. It was rather intimidating, particularly seeing as we were a relatively new couple and hadn't decided we wanted to get married yet! I felt very pressured lol.


Yeah exactly, I got grilled at Philadelphia airport on my 2nd time!!!! They were going through my things without asking me first.

Its tricky, when you enter this time with VWP, do you have return ticket and other proof to show you have strong ties with Australia? If not (like me last time) They won't let you in, and they will ask you and phone your USC boyfriend/girlfriend if you intended to marry in this 90 day period. THEY DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO MARRY THAT WAY!!!!!

then of course, if people really got married without any 'intention', you can apply for AOS during your 90 day period and wait for it until it's approved (that will be well past the 90 days) that is allowed as long as you put in your application within the 90 days.
