Russia, Ukraine and BelarusOkay I am offically confused

Wearing a bra around the house sucks. Bras aren't comfortable, and many women's tops, especially "loungewear", is very sheer or thin.

It means she's comfortable around you, or better yet she trusts you. It's a good thing, let it go.

I know how much Russians and Ukrainians enjoy relaxation inside the home. The first thing my wife (and step daughter) do when they get home is change into comfortable clothes and slippers. They can't understand why I don't do the same the instant I come home.

Oksana and I talked about this last night (after I regained my bearings). I explained how most American women would have been outraged that I admitted to seeing their daughter's breast, and I asked her why she was not upset and her reply made a lot of sense.

She said "You are a man, and a man is going to look at a pretty girl no matter what and it is normal. I trust you completely and if I thought there was a danger, I would never leave you alone with her. It is also a sign that my daughter trusts you."

Got to love a FSU woman's no-nonsense approach.

How true!

Can't touch? Are you kidding me? I'd be all over that! It's not weird if you met as adults.

But, then again, a 20-year-old dude is no match for a 22-year-old Russian woman. He's like an amateur and she's like 40 in American guy years. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "She will be to him as the heron is to the fish. Over him simply because of sovereign nature alone."
Morally speaking (and I have very few morals) there is no problem. As for the age difference...oh yeah. She would damage the boy irrepairably and ruin him for anything else.

Well he would ... if he could. He is certainly no match for her, but it's fun to watch him try to impress her. Posted Image She still has old Russian and Ukrainian boyfriends sending her gifts from clear across the world. I could open a used flower shop with the amount of flower deliveries I get since she moved in.
On the more practical side, I'm glad nothing will happen because they are going to know each other as family for many years to come and I don't want there to be any awkward feelings between them later.

My step-daughter is an extremely attractive 22 year old who walks around the house with very little on. .. sometimes VERY little! I do my best to ignore it, (or pretend I'm ignoring it!!). Because as Slim said, whatever I say I'll be wrong. The one I feel sorry for is MY 20 year old son who looks at forbidden beauty and can't touch!! Posted Image

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAnother generation of RUB women
Speaking about Ukrainian hotties, my step-daughter has been having a great time in the last 4 months: Helicopter rides, horse back riding on the beach, Water skiing, expensive dinners in Boca Raton and Miami and at least 2 proposals of marriage. I told her whoever she ends up marrying owes me all the money I spent on visas, AOS and ROC so far! Posted Image

Russia, Ukraine and Belarus1st rule: You do not talk about baby (until born).

Yep...we've officially cranked out baby number 2, an 8 lb 14 oz girl. I've got one of each now and thank God, they both look more like her than me! Posted Image

Anyway, long story short, the doctor told us the baby had not descended very far so I was mentally bracing for a long day. Ah...but this is a Ukrainian woman...

My wife almost shot the baby out on the very first push and the doctor had to tell her to stop because she wasn't ready yet. After the doc finally got into her catcher's gear and lined up on the plate, it was over in about 20 seconds.

All is well and we're back at home reminiscing about how we used to sleep.

I'll have to stop back in and see what everyone is up to when I get more time (probably in about 18 years eh?). Hope all the RUB regulars are doing well.

Congrats!!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusEasiest U.S. visa to get for a Belarus citizen married to a U.S citizen

I vote to start a new thread on this topic.. its gone sideways bigtime.

Wow. Did somebody step on your spit-shine today Col. Grumpy?

I have traveled to these wonderfully ordered countries with miles of red tape and where they make you sign zee papers. I was forced to sign one upon entry to the FSU, oops I don't read Cryillic. I could have confessed to the most henious crime, but I was trapped in the Airport with a mean looking person with a weapon and a vehicle ready to transport me to goodness knows where. I prefer to live here, where DMV officials are my most "scarey" public officials. TSA is enjoying all kinds of interesting press, don't touch my junk, don't taze me bro. In the FSU last week, Journalists are being put in jail or being "disappeared" by the government because they didn't have the proper "registration" documents to attend the news event taking place.

Hmmmm, Do I think as an American Citizen, I should turn over the most private and personal life decision as to who, when, where under what circumstances I can marry the person I freely decided to spend the rest of my life with? And regarding the circumstances of "introduction" and our silly concept of Marriage motivated by love which we stubbornly maintain is an affair of the heart, well I for one am not ready to scrap that concept either. I know this may sound like an old fashioned concept, but not so long ago humans met in person often through a social introduction by a friend or co-worker. "Virtual" introductions have been taking place for ages, "I have a cousin who lives in America, she is a wonderful gal and still has all her teeth". But, its equally as common for if not more common for a personal connection to develop in a chance personal encounter.
Suffice to say, the government needs to take care of business, but the marriage business in so much as possible they should stay out of.

Call me old fashioned but the idea of meeting a kind, attractive foreign visitor to my country is pretty darn romantic. Harliquin is making a fortune on that story line. VJ is a place to learn our Governments bueracracy and its navigation but don't assume for a second everyone in the US swallowed the INS Code. Mistakes and spontaneous situations will arise.

I'm glad to hear your documents are in order, if you go visit the FSU you will be well prepared. Hope your feeling better soon.

Well said.

Russia, Ukraine and Belarus70 Years of Liberation! what a Great Trip

Well personally I don't agree with Obama on a lot of issues but in this case I think this tactic of government shutdown as a negotiating tool has got to be completely and forever discredited. To allow a minority of house members to do this is perilous to our democracy in my opinion. Factionalism is the downfall of all democracies.

"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism."

George Washington

Gary,

Sounds like you had a great time! I just got back from 16 days in Ukraine myself. Tanya and I had a great time also. We spent 7 days in Crimea. Swam in the Black Sea, visited Lividia Palace where Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill met in WW2. Also visited Vorontsov Palace and the Swallow's Nest. All of it ... WOW! Then back to Tanya's village and her folks house. I understand and share your admiration for this country and it's people!

USCIS Service CentersVermont Service Center - What's going on!

My fiance' who is in the military called on Friday to check up on our case since we are Nov filers and passed 5 months April 13. He was told he could not file a service request because the new time frame is 6 months and then only can he file. Yes I was furious and since I am not allowed to call and will be given no info unless he is on the line and we conference call. So... VSC is drastically dropping in numbers and now we need to really do something before they completely stop processing.

This is true. If you go on the USCIS processing section of their page you see that their goal to complete each case is 5 months. They say however that it will be finished in 6 months, and their average time is 7 months for an approval. They haven't gotten to the point of reaching their goal on a frequent basis. I found all this info on the USCIS website where you can check the status of your case. My case was processed in 7 months exactly. Best of luck to you all.

USCIS Service CentersVermont Service Center - What's going on!

Keep up the faith! Our petition was sent in August 2012 and we received the NOA2 7 months later in Feb 2013 from the Vermont Service center. You'll get a response, as frustrating as the system can be, don't lose hope. Best of luck.

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS not showing any update. Why?

We have got our NOA1 on Nov 2,2012. Till last night it was showing a clear status online but as i just called them, they said its a good news that our case has been approved.

How i ll come to know that they have mailed me NOA2 yet or not?

First it will be sent to you in the mail. I sent in the G1145 which is an e-notification and they sent me a text and email letting me know about the approval. On the USCIS you login to your guest account and check your status, where your case appears you can click for an email or text notification as well. If not, you'll have to either call USCIS to ask, or just wait for the letter to come in the mail. ours came about 7-10 days after we were notified electronically for the approval. Best of luck

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS not showing any update. Why?

NOA1 can take up to a few weeks usually, and NOA2 can take up to 5 months to a year depending on your service center and visa. Our case was processed in 7 months which is typical for Vermont, although some people are saying it's taking longer now. After NOA2 the NVC will send you a letter saying telling you which embassy your case has been sent too, and then the embassy will send you a letter inviting you to make your interview appointment. We started our process in the end of august last year and have our visa in hand now. The whole process took about 10 months. Best of luck.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDS 260 HELP

Yes, those going through Juarez fill out the DS-260, and Yes, the correct choice there is spouse.

(I know this was from last week, but I wanted to put this here for anyone else that may get confused by that, just to make it clear.)

Ok great! Thanks for clarifying! :-)

Ok. Not sure I understand. It is a K 1 visa and the conversation is about the DS 260. If I'm in the wrong forum I apologize. When I typed in DS -260 this is what came up.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDS 260 HELP

Are you sure you are meant to be filling out that form then? not all embassys use that for the K-1 process. If there is no option for Fiance then it does not sound like the proper form to fill out. DS 160 is filled out for K-1 in my previous country for non-immigrant visa. Which is what a K-1 visa is. DS 260 is usually filled out for spousal visa applicants.

Actually Fiancé visas from Mexico do not fill out a Ds- 160 form. They fill out the DS 260 and DS 156 form. Please note that the Fiancé visa is first a non-immigrant visa but once present to the embassy an immigrant visa as the fiancé will be permanently residing in the US. Every country and embassy has different requirements and forms. I know the form I'm filling out is correct or it would not come up with my name and everything in my account and I confirmed with the embassy. Unfortunately the embassy told me they are unable to answer questions regarding the forms as they have never reviewed them.

Hi,

thank you for your response. Unfortunately on the DS 260, it's an electronic form and therefore there is no space for written responses on these questions. He is my Fiancé but again that's not an option, he is clearly not a brother, sister, father, mother, or in-law, therefore the only other option is spouse, and unfortunately i can't leave it blank either, as the form will not allow me to move forward if I do not choose an option. It is the same situation with the work question. The option is yes or no, there is no written section. Thanks again.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDS 260 HELP
Hello all,

I've been seeing some of the responses and questions written by you guys, and it seems that by now many will have made advancements and received their visas by now. I was hoping that you could all give some suggestions as I'm about to send in my Fiancé and I's DS 260 form. My questions are the following:

It asks who the petitioner is, which I'm a Fiancé, but the only option similar to Fiancé offered is Spouse. Will it be an issue if I put Spouse?

My second question is there is a section that asks if he has a medical form? Well, not yet, but he will at after the doctor's visit before the interview. So is it ok to put yes?

and my final question for now is there is a question towards the end which asks if the beneficiary has intentions on working in unskilled or skilled labor but do not have a certificate of permission from the secretary of labor? Well, he wants to work, but only once he has permission. I assumed the answer would be no?

Can anyone guide me a little? Supposedly this form is very important for the interview so I want to make sure he's putting the correct answers. I appreciate your help, and wish you all the best of luck with your visas!

Thanks-

Roma

Mexico, Latin & South Americapermiso de viaje
Hola,

Mucha suerte y saludos.

I would bring it with you to erase all doubts. My fiancé asked them when she was checking in if she needed the email confirmation also but the lady helping her asked another lady and she said no and was good to go but she had it with her incase she needed it.Not sure if you went to the same clinic cause one could be different in what they ask fo but I would bring it because your going to have it for your appointment at the consulate,so you will have it with you anyways in Juarez.I would not want to lose my place in line because I had to go back to the hotel to pick it up.

Thank you both! I guess we'll just bring everything, and copies of everything lol. Better to be safe than sorry as you said! I only asked because the last thing we got in the mail from the embassy was the instructions letter, and then the email with the confirmation of ASC and interview so I wanted to make sure there was nothing else we hadn't received yet. Never know because nothing arrived to my Fiancé's address, everything arrived to my address in the states. Thanks again!
