Glad to hear from you valerie! What about wait times, is it bad? Gosh, and here I was hoping it would be smooth sailing from AOS on...

I think we can only file 3 months prior to the expiration date on the green card, correct?

looks like people are able to file for naturalization before they get ROC completed..
i'm just worried about evidence. all we do is work pretty much, we haven't gone on any vacations and the one we went on last summer, we didn't take any pictures.. we're not picture people :)

awesome about your house vero :) we finally got into a house last october, we're renting. it's a hundred times better than that damn townhouse :) with a ten year old, a 100lb dog and three cats - there was no room left!!!!

Hi everyone!
Well... I'm now officially a home owner! Chris and I are so happy to have a place of our own!

my son is starting 5th grade next tuesday - this summer FLEW by. seriously, why did time stand still through the k1 wait and now everything just whizzes by!

anybody starting to stress about ROC yet?

i'll be 33 in december, major cringe. i know that isn't 'old' but i feel i'm totally out of touch. i was with my sister (21) the other day, driving and i saw this kid driving a huge pickup. i was like, no way is that kid old enough to drive (i would have said maybe thirteen) and my sister laughed, i graduated highschool with him. oops. where does the time go? i haven't the slightest clue what happened to my 20's.

meh as long as i still get carded buying alcohol i'm going to try not to stress :)

Flew to Boston and then drove to Qc, flights were super cheap, 140$ per person round trip!

damn - that is cheap. we were thinking: fly to burlington vt and rent a car from there.

we would drive but since i totaled my 2008 aveo going to pick him up in october, the car i have now is a 98 with 120,000 miles on it. and orfee bought my grandmas old (96) camry..i don't want to kill our poor old beaters!

and we learned the hard way (again from the POE fiasco) that renting a car from montreal to virginia and back is as expensive as flying no stops roundtrip.

it's so aggravating because montreal doesn't seem too far away from us, having made the drive numerous times last year - it's a breeze really.

so close yet sooo far away!

I'm doing good, being home is THE SH*T!!!

Congrats Valerie :)

I can't believe it, but I got the same email last night and then again this morning. I'm kind of in shock actually!!!
I also got a email this morning saying my EAD is in production too...Do I need both my green card and EAD?
My face feels as hot as a jalapeno put probably looks more like a tomato..lol :D

orfee just got his ead/ap too, kinda pointless cause no you don't need them if you have your greencard, but if we hadn't been transferred to CSC, we would have needed them since the wait time is longer..

i think i was more excited to get that email than orfee was (maybe because i'm the paperwork queen - he just gets the updates :) )

but since we had all that craziness with montreal and getting his visa sent out (not to mention all the waiting before hand) i'm super super excited to done with this for a couple years!

No need to fret Chris and Vero, you'll be fine! I just got another email from USCIS today, stating that my EAD card began production today, Feb 3rd. I got an email on Jan 28th stating that THAT was when they started production on it, so I'm not quite sure what's up with that. This happen to anyone else?

same thing here, two emails. i think the first is for when it is approved and the second is for when it is physically printed. i'm guessing, but the two email thing, is 'normal' from uscis : )

oh okay i get it..no i didn't take his name, basically because my son has his father's last name, i kept my maiden name so we all have different last names instead of my kid being the odd one out : )

orfee hasn't gotten his va license yet, its so hard to get anything done since we only have one car and i take that to work everyday..but it is something we need to do and soon!

Had my biometrics appointment today. It was very simple! I waited a hour just to get my finger prints and picture taken..at least that part is over and done with! I almost forgot our marriage certificate, good thing i grabbed it before we left.

Hope all is well :)

wait, you have to bring your marriage certificate? that's fine and all but i didn't see that listed as an item to bring on their letter..

thanks for the heads up!

much better than last year - that's for sure.

anyway - just an update..our response to the RFE is under review as of 12-29-10. and he got his biometrics appt for 1-18-2011.

hopefully that ead is right around the corner...

it isn't just frontline, hartz products too. i've seen more than one website for victims but here's an example:
http://www.hartzvictims.org/

recently we bought some natural spray, because i'm scared that if we used regular topical flea medicine - it could somehow get transferred to my kitty and hurt her (dog and kitty sleep/lay in the same area). our dog is huge (shepherd/colli mix) and kitty is still just a baby.
http://www.1800petme...-prod11135.html

it seems to work, just more painstaking because we apply it numerous times throughout the day (whenever and wherever he starts scratching)..

Ken&Kate and Valerie78, did you receive your NOA1 yet?

we've received the email notifications and the check was cashed - no hard copy noa1 yet...anyday now.

i will say that waiting together is much better than waiting apart..i still find myself in shock kind of, like - is that all really behind us???

Yay! AOS/EAD sent off 11/15/2010 for me! I decided to include a cheque for $1010, hoping that my interpretation of the rate increase is correct that any application post-marked AFTER the 23rd are subject to the new fee.. we will see.

It will be great if all our AOS journeys can progress as fast as nickbits has, wow!

i ended up doing the same. i paid twenty bucks to have it shipped next day so ... they'll have it way before wednesday.

CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey

Wow, Valerie. Glad you're OK, and together; that's what counts! Just think of the stories you can tell now :)

I have a quick question about my AOS fees.. I'm submitting the i-485, and also the i-765 (EAD) .. does the new fee increase hit people who have filed their AOS package AFTER Nov 23rd? If so, the total amount I'm paying SHOULD be $1010, correct? (i-485 fee + biometrics fee)

Need some direction here..

We're sending ours in tomorrow and i think we're just going to go ahead and send in $1090. i have a feeling that they going to go by their receipt date not by the posted date, as in - when the put it in their system and not the postage stamp..

we've hit the fee increase every step of the way! it sucks..
val erieFemaleCanada2010-11-16 10:26:00
CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey

Hey Valerie78! Glad to hear things are ok! Oh my god... Where did you have an accident? Was it because of all the bad drivers in Quebec? That must have been quite the nightmare...
I guess Orfee could open up a bank account since he has his SSN... I know that's all you need, with the passport and I-94, and Suntrust and Wachovia have free checking accounts... That would be proof enough of residence, if the person at the DMV knows what he/she is doing!
You guys got married on Halloween! Did you wear costumes? That's so original!

And did you guys try to contact the medical office where he had his medical done? I'm sure they could send him one. He had to have had it done because they needed it at the consulate... They might have forgotten to give him a copy - how convenient...
Let us know when you guess send your package, and we'll update the list!

i never even made it to canada! i was in new jersey in 287 (in rush hour traffic) and the guy in front of me slammed on this brakes because a deer jumped out in the highway..i slammed on my brakes, hit dude in front of me anyway and the guy behind me hit me, four cars total. the deer layed in the road for about five minutes and then jumped right back off the highway. jeez.
orfee ended up renting a car from the airport and driving to meet me in new jersey. he did his poe at little after midnight - thankfully he didn't have any problems..it was all very rushed..

no costumes, we just did a civil ceremony at a pub - then we had lunch/beer at said pub :D

we were going to send a letter stating that they have all the info from the medical, given over at the poe and cross our fingers it gets through. after the car, aos check, and the insurance deductible (it was a policy through my job and they had the damn thing set at $2,300!!!) we're pretty much broke!

but, none of that really matters and everything will all work out - we're finally together. whew. :P

i'm here!

we got married on 10-31 and we're in the process of getting everything together to mail off. most likely next week..since i totaled my car on the way to pick orfee up for poe, things have been a little stressful. but we got a new car on thursday so, least that's done.

so far orfee has got his ssn, but we can't get him on my lease till he has a Virginia license/id and we don't have any mail in his name to get the VA license (easiest thing to prove residency would be a lease) its a pretty aggravating cycle..

plus, orfee didn't get any type of vaccination sheet from his medical in montreal, so we're kind of stuck there as well.

other than all this immigration #######, life is grand

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow many pictures are you sending?
i don't think we have any pictures that we haven't already sent in with AOS & K1. it seems ridiculous to take pictures now, right before we send in our ROC. we aren't picture people and we've been working the last two years pretty much nonstop. the family vacation we took last year we managed to take a ton of pictures, but none of ourselves..
val erieFemaleCanada2012-10-23 08:35:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFilled ROC on May now separated

The immigration will not approve your application to remove conditions without you being with your husband.

i don't believe this is true. OP you should check out the changes in family forum, where questions pertaining to separation and divorce during ROC are posted quite frequently. maybe a mod can move this post there for you for more detailed answers..

PhilippinesAge difference of fiance to fiancee?
as an american woman, i'd just like to throw this tidbit wall of text out there..

while there is only a six month age difference between my husband and i - we definitely, most certainly, married for his green card. we wanted to live together because love each other. i couldn't uproot my son and move to canada and we both couldn't go back and forth for just visits. we wanted the three of us together. immigration dictated the marriage requirement so we had to get married in order to get what we wanted - the green card, so we could live and be together.

i don't really see too much of a difference between our relationship and the couples with huge age differences that marry for mutually beneficial conveniences.

what throws people off with the men looking for young hot women, is a general distaste for superficiality. everyone knows that tight bodies will age. all hot young women are eventually going to get older, not that getting older is any less sexy or loveable. but hearing men speak of primarily seeking out something superficial that is going to degenerate and lose it's luster, for me, as a woman, i get the urge to jump to defend the sexiness and beauty in women of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds. if you base your search for love on strictly superficial standards you're only selling yourself short and setting yourself up for a fall, imo.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion for November Filers - Vermont Center

Quick question for all of you: Did anyone receive a NO2 yet or RFEs? Let me know! My fiance and I filed in late November,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2009 filers
i bet at this point, some november filers might be afraid to fill in their noa2 dates on their timelines. i mean, the backlash of getting approved before someone else is harsh on this thread.

blaming the government is just as useless as blaming 'men' or military personnel. in fact, it probably only makes one feel worse with all the harbored anger.

this site is useful for matters of support. no one here should be pissed at any other person or worker. be happy you're alive and in love.

process times say 5 months, if someone gets approved faster - try being happy for them. you'll feel better.

Oh of course its an absolutely hilarious posting

Your wanting to emigrate to a country where you dont even have any respect for the people who are fighting for this country

THANK YOU visacat!

jeez..and this coming from someone that has the capability of relocating to be with their SO while waiting?

some of us aren't even in the position to visit our SOs, until interview, which could be like july or august...i think its pretty common knowledge that waiting is the name of the game..

gimmie a break!

i agree. the people of haiti are suffering immensely. we should all be grateful to be alive and in love. we should grateful even to be in the position to file for a visa. jumping through these bureaucratic hoops and waiting an extended period of time is difficult - but it doesn't begin to compare to what has happened to those poor suffering people - the people of haiti (even if they are in the US illegally) deserve our help and refuge.
