i think you might have a bit more wait ahead of you...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow much detail does DoS keep track of?
i got told a various number of things as well. (approved, pending, issued, ap)our wait was also a full month from our interview. however - dos never told me that it 'printed' until it actually had in fact printed. i wouldn't trust terms such as 'issued' or 'processing'. in our experience - which was a month of total hell - when dos said the visa had printed, it actually had been printed and my fiance had it in two days. if you get an operator that says 'printed', call back and get a different operator to make sure you get the same response (i did this three times the day i finally heard 'printed' and all three times i got the same answer)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed advice as to how to handle this situation with paper work that had been lost by Montreal office, police letter
in dealing with montreal, i would have your fiance's senator/congressman liaison contact the consulate and have them (montreal) get their hands on it. with the way montreal operates, you have to hound them. i wouldn't suggest waiting very long at all - ultimately you will have to push them, and emailing - well you could do that for days and days and maybe you'll get a bs response after your 30th email. hope everything works out for you guys soon..ultimately - this is just a little hiccup and everything will be fine.

good news they are processing the visa now, yeahhhhhhhhhh, just found out!

never mind my comment then - awesome!

usually paperwork just sits in the mailroom!

i didn't see where the op was asking for personal advice. i do see where the op says he's happy, very happy actually.

people won't ask their visa related questions if they feel they're going to be judged or given unrequested relationship advice. that's why mods ask members not to leave comments such as yours. this is visa journey not judge judy.

i'm sure this has been answered before, but i'm filling out the G325..
what is the best way to list names (i'm unfamiliar with this four name thing) my fiance and both his parents have four legal names; how do you list these?

List them in the prescribed order. If they don't fit in the form's spaces, write them in.

thanks, i just made a supplemental sheet so I won't have any of the form handwritten.

yeah i got the expression, just seems a bit dramatic.
basically, the outcome could go either way - then yes, technically a risk, but they didn't "get away with it". crossing the CN/AM border while you have an K1 application pending is totally legal. ask vero, she's in the US right now..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNow this is upsetting.
yes, you can visit - but only if the customs officer allows you. what can help you gain entry is evidence that you will be returning to canada, for example a lease or letter from your employer. the reason you're getting both answers, yes and no, is because anytime you attempt to cross a border there is a possibility of being denied.

and what in the world are you talking about, you called 10,000 people? it really isn't that complicated. plan a trip, and take some evidence of your intended return.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresa couple of questions about k-1 pt.2

when did i say all canadians have the same timeline or all get their visa before the 6 months mark?i would like to see that.
you cant deny that some people randomly or pre planned get special treatment, majority of them are canadians, which makes sense since canada and the states are diplomatically close,THAT is not the case.the case is their attitude towards middle eastern countries that are not even high fraud to be honest with you

you have no idea what you're talking about concerning canada and preferential treatment. you really need to get the facts before you make statements like this. some middle eastern countries are considered high fruad, and look - you were talking about being fraudulent yourself, pondering if you should lie or not. go figure.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Customs and my return for 3rd time this year

Valerie,

You're obviously more than welcome to butt in! Thats so bizarre about your story, how random! I was under the impression that the relationship between the US and Canada was pretty smooth, why would they ask if your bf was a terrorist? Did you say something to set them off or was the CBP officer just having a bad day I wonder. I'm glad you got in, in the end. :)

it was my first time to canada, and i wasn't sure what to expect. i arrived late (around 10:30 p.m.) and got sent straight to secondary. at the time i didn't realize it was secondary and thought it was normal. he asked what business i had in canada and i said was visiting my boyfriend (we hadn't yet sent in our k1 petition) and he asked where he worked (iga grocery store) and then 'is your boyfriend a terrorist'. that's why i cracked a smile when he said it, it was totally unexpected!

now that i've gone across the border a couple of times i've learned that crossing the border is much more pleasant via land and that the canadian border guards are much more polite and civil than us border officers. i've had more attitude coming back into my own country than i have entering canada!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Customs and my return for 3rd time this year

I seem to go through a lot with customs everytime I fly back and forth to Ghana, mind you I am the US citizen visiting my husband in Ghana. But the worst experience I has was in Holland at Schiepol airport around December 2009 after the Nigerian boy tried to blow up the plane. They questioned everyone for like ten to fifteen minutes before they boarded the flight back to the US. When I told them I was coming from Ghana, that I was visiting my husband, they said oh mam is your husband a terriost? I said you think because my husband is african he is a terriost? They guy said well with what just happened we have to be sure. I know they tried to blow up a plane to the US but come on. Like if he was one I would tell them. They had already started to stereotype africans just days after the nigerian boys incident.

I normally get asked a lot of questions when I arrive back home too, More at Dullus in VA than JFK. It seems they are a little better with the who what where questions in NY than here in DC. They want your whole life story in DC.

I wish you the best on coming back from your trip. You will be fine.

hi, sorry to butt in this thread, but i just wanted to share with you a similar 'is your boyfriend a terrorist?' question i got in secondary when i was going to visit my fiance the for the first time in august of 2009. the only difference between you and i: my fiance is canadian!

i kind of chuckled a little bit when the CO asked, because i thought it was a ridiculous question. he got REAL angry for a second and scolded me about the seriousness of terrorism...they let me through though.

i would work on his parents. if they approve of the marriage and trust the two of you are legit, than there is no liability. the only way they would be held accountable for you is if you took off and started collecting food stamps or something..

its just the two of you, right? 18,212 a year is a pretty low figure compared to the actual cost of living..

does he have any other relatives or friends that make enough?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 instead of K-1?

Thanks for the responses, but you are both dealing with the VSC. The CSC is months behind and no one seems to have heard from them since August. We have no idea how long this will take. It looks like we'll be waiting long past 5 months just to get our NoA2, let alone the interview. If we were registered with Vermont I'd be more than happy to wait my turn, but California is awful.

when we were going through the noa2 portion, vsc was the one lagging painfully behind and csc was really fast..
the waiting is difficult and so is the 'not knowing' but you are surely one day closer that when you started, hang in there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's up with the Vermont Processing Center?

So, I'm still waiting for my fiances paperwork to prove that he is divorced before I submit our packet, however, I try to visit this forum every day to learn new tricks and tips! However, lately, I have seen an outpouring of dissatisfaction with the Vermont Processing Center, which is the center that my petition will be processed at. Has something recently changed at this center causing them to be so slow? Are other centers as slow as Vt? Is anybody having luck being processed in a decent time?!? I guess my question is: what is the problem that is causing all of this?

if you read back on the forums from over the summer - the slowdown was at csc. they tend to trend back in forth, slowing down and speeding up and slowing down again.

after being in these forums for a while - you start to see the patterns, as well as how different personality types deal with the stress of being kept away from their loved ones. some stay positive, some stay quiet, some rage against the immigration machine..

but at the end of the day - everyone gets their case reviewed, approved or denied. its just a matter of time.

we have three visits and i am planning another before the end of the year. I dont know what we will do if this is denied, its so painful being apart and living by messenger , emails and the phone... traveling is so expensive and hard with my work schedule.. but even harder to be separated for so long. Its been seven months and I am just miserable without him.

i would read as many threads that pertain to your consulate as possible and learn as much as you can from other vj members. there's quite a few ladies on the MENA board who have been where you are and have many different valuable experiences to share. good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa with a substantial age difference

The point was made absoluetly correctly, and consicely, and especially based on what we've heard on these forums. I remember a Mumbai interviewee that was basically shamed at the Embassy due to lack of preparration for this specific question.

Just because you prefer to go through life with rose colored glasses doesn't mean that respondees have to cater to you, as long as they stay within TOS.

gowon, i don't know where you're coming from with this rose colored glasses #######. it is rude to say to a woman, you're to old to have children. peter pan's point was that the consulate was going to view her age as an issue concerning having children together. i completely agree with that point. so while your opinion of my opinion is noted, please understand that my only issue with the "you're too old to have children" was the delivery, not the sentiment.
val erieFemaleCanada2012-09-06 11:04:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa with a substantial age difference

Fab as you may be, you cant have kids anymore and that will be a MAJOR red flag.

you don't know that. plenty of women have given birth at the age of 45 and after. i understand the point you were trying to make, but you didn't make it correctly.

op - it is possible that the embassy will question your fiance's motives, considering that culturally speaking it is important that males are capable of having children with their wives. but this is only one potential part of the age difference issues that face MENA couples..they are obstacles that can be overcome with substantial evidence of a committed relationship such as multiple visits.

The Montreal consulate does have a number that you can call; And you can get a live person on the phone, the problem lay in the fact that the option that you choose to actually speak to a live person is not the most attractive.

My Xpresspost envelope was delivered this morning in Montreal. The trace investigator shook something loose I guess and I am soooo thankful she did. Thank the Lord that she got involved.

CanadaMTL Consulate PO box address....

GAH!

I just got off the phone with Canada post - after 6 calls in the last 24 hours, I FINALLY got to speak to a trace investigator and she tells me....

"Well we can see it got to the Montreal postal facility on Sept 10th but that's as far as I can see. Tomorrow I'll talk to the delivery section to see if they have any record of it being delivered. Could you call the reciever (the consulate) to find out if they got it??"

Uhhh...what the heck...that envelope contains both my and my son's passport, some original court docs. And Canadapost has no idea where it is at the present, it could be at the postal facility, it could be delivered, it could be lost.

God I can't believe this, I send it as secure as I possibly can thru the mail service and it's disappeared.
Scary thing is, I used Xpresspost - the same thing that the consulate is supposed to mail our visas back in....I AM SO FREAKING OUT!!

i feel your pain, keep us posted how it turns out...

Thank you so much for the information Valerie78! I guess the glitch explained why the NVC operator said that they 'found out' about my interview date today and why I still haven't received the email...

yeah, that seems totally possible!

val erieFemaleCanada2010-09-15 14:54:00
CanadaComputer Glitch in Montreal

My bet is that this glitch has to do with the big transition to the new system for visa scheduling and communication, which I believe involves a subcontractor. My husband is in a similar line of business (nothing to do with this particular project, but similar kinds of computer systems) and he says that these transitions tend not to go smoothly.

I totally agree with you, though, that they are not handling communication well at *all.* The good news is (I think) that once they're through the transitional period, things will go much better than in the past. This is just a guess, but I have a hunch that they hired a subcontractor because they realized that they were NOT coping with the visa scheduling and communication. Of course, they could have hired more government employees...but a subcontractor is likely much cheaper.

C.

hopefully, they can get it all together quick - for all the people who have the unfortunate timing as the lab rats for the new experiment..

of course, my mind is still going a mile a minute.. if they thought they printed his visa, where's the file? where's his visa? do they send the file on for the next step? would it still be in montreal? en route to dos? i have no clue and i should probably not think about it or i'll go crazy.. :bonk:
val erieFemaleCanada2010-09-15 14:43:00
CanadaComputer Glitch in Montreal
senator mark warners office called back with some interesting information:
montreal has a 'glitch' in their internal 'system' and they are showing visa's printed that have not, etc..she said this isn't specific to our case, but when montreal checks electronically on any case processes are shown as completed that are not. currently - there is a 'task team' from the department of state at the montreal consulate trying to fix the problem. they are scheduled to be there today and tomorrow working on it.

i would think that a problem such as this is only ADDING to the backlog at montreal. i'm not sure, specifically, what processes a glitch like this would hold up, but if its system wide then, who's to say??

she told me that she told them they needed to contact her the minute they figured out what was going on with our case. she told me to call her back monday morning after 11 if i hadn't heard back from her at that point. she was really nice, and seemed really concerned. she asked me when the wedding date was..i told her it was all tentative because orfee has to give two weeks notice at two jobs and pack all of this belongings from two locations, hence my 'annoyingness' she said she totally understood.

anyway - i don't know if this info is good or bad but, something to think about as we continue to curse montreal (not that cursing them isn't justified - computer glitch or not - they should definitely respond to their emails. how hard is it to set up an automatic reply stating they're having technical difficulties???) jeez.
