K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS-160 Question

There are several consulates in Mexico, but when it comes to family type visas, meaning for couples, kids, etc, where an interview is required, Juarez is the only place.

not sure what you'll find, but aeromexico was the cheapest for me.  flew from yucatan peninsula, connected in DF then to Juarez.  in 2013 i think round trip was $250 per ticket

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 2012 Tax Returns - 2010 and 2011 returns necessary?
I just filed for the AOS using my 2012 tax return and was approved. The only thing they required were the amounts from 2010 and 2011 on the AOS.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresASC? A bit confused????

I had the same issue. (I am the USC petitioner and my stepdaughter is the beneficiary).  After receiving the letter with the appointment date, i went to the ASC website in an attempt to set up the asc appt.  After creating an account was lost and had no idea where to go (pretty much what you're dealing now it seems).  None of the information from the letter was there and everytime i tried to set up an appointment, it was like her info wasn't even in the system.

So I called the consulate in ciudad juarez (there's a 703 number - Viriginia) which you can call.  They asked me the basics about her interview and assisted me in setting up the ASC appointment.  no sweat :)

let me know if you need the number

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresACS appointment question

Here is the website.  And the beneficiary can have their biometrics done at any ASC location in Mexico.

If you have issue after you create an account on the webiste (I did, and i just posted on another thread of someone who is as well), call the consulate and set the appointment with them.  When I called, they seemed to not have all the particulars about my stepdaughters interview (which worried me a little.)  But i gave them the interview date, her name, etc and they assisted me in getting the ASC appoint scheduled.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJuarez Consulate interview process CR1

i'll try to help as much as possible with your questions.  I did the IR 2 visa recently and went through simlar situations, although she never visited so i can't advise on the tourist visa thing.

In regards to the website, if you can't register, simply call the consulate at 703-439-2313.  I had the same issue where it wouldn't let me register, i called them and they set up the biometrics appt with me on the phone.  You'll need the passport number of the applicant to set up the appointment.  They're very kind. They'll even help you set up the place where the visa goes (the DHL office).  One thing i will say about this - they say it's two weeks, but if everything goes well, it's more like 2 days.  Interview was wednesday morning and i had visa in hand on Friday.  So, if you want to cross at El Paso, just set up Juarez as your DHL office.

As you probably already know, ensure that she has your long form birth certificate as well as the certificate of any US born children you have.  They do ask for this at the interview.  I also included an updated employment letter (my original was in November 2012) on company letterhead, which didn't hurt either.

as far as scheduling it's up to you and i believe it's based on the time they give you your appt.  The interview was at 7:15 am on  a wednesday so we did the medical on Monday (leaving me tuesday if there was any problems) and tuesday we did the biometrics.  If you choose to do your bio on the same day as your medical i would do in the afternoon.  She'll get in line about 6 am for the medical, takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on vaccines needed, and you won't get results until afternoon.  Since everything is so close together, biometrics isn't hard if you do decide to do in the same day.  Ensure you have ds 260 confirmation page (assuming thats the app you filled out for her) and interview letter with passport and you're good for bio appt.

As far as the interview, they do allow you to wait in the sala de espera.  It's a huge waiting room where the applicant has their paperwork checked and they get in line (either a line or sit down in order similar to making a line - depending on volume) and you can wait for her there.  there's a oxxo stand inside the sala de espera, make sure you take loose change if you want to use the bathroom.  wait is from 2-3 hours.  the waiting room advises 3-5 hours, but it's not that long.

Oh and if you have time, go to Barriga's.  Great place for a meal smile.png

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmedica and vaccines requirements

i've recently come back from juarez having received approval for my oldest stepdaughter.

the poster above me has listed the shots she will need.  Same situation, she had lost her original cartilla and they of course can't be replaced.  Funny thing is, in in the clinic waiting room they have a glass board which shows the vaccines necessary.  Since she is over 18, the number she can get is reduced.

There are 2 medical centers literally down the street from the consulate.  Avoid the polleros/coyotes who have the lanyard with the laminated badges and you'll be fine. Ours was on the corner next to IBIS hotel across the street from a convenience shop.

It's up to you how you do it, but it was just as easy for me to get it done in Juarez.  I didn't want to do it in Merida, wonder whether it was an approved physician who gave her the vaccines, figured it was just as easy to do in Juarez, and I was right.

Stepdaughter get in line 6 am or so at the clinic, and she was done in about 2-3 hours.  they have a tent next to the clinic where you wait.  Took her that long because of her vaccines. Cost me an extra 200 bucks  ($400 total) because she had to get the age appropriate vaccines (in her case tdap, mmr, and one other). Obviously well worth it.

Clinic said come back at 2 for results, envelope sealed shut in a black nylon bag - similar to ups paks. Since you can't open the pack, they give you a copy of the report and the cd stapled to the outside.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificates/Original/Police Certificates/Address Change for Beneficiary

Hola jcruzazucar :)

I did an IR-2 for my stepdaughter in Mexico and while my app was different than yours, much of the supporting info they are asking you to provide is the same.

In regards to the long birth certificate-  this can be a little confusing.  They are looking for a certified copy of the original, issued by the state where the app/petitioner was born.  Some locations, especially in Mexico, have the 2 versions of your birth certificate.  The first is the paper version which we are most familiar with (acta de nacimiento) and then there's the little card you can get which has all your info on it  (clava curp i think it's called), including the book and page where the record is saved (liber folio).  I too had my original birth certificate and was surprised to find out i still had to purchase a certified copy of my birth certificate (the raised seal that they place on the certificate is what makes it official). Vitalcheck was a great resource for that

So in answer to your first 2 questions - 1.  yes, you have to have the original form which has both parents.  Immigration usually doesn't accept it if it doesn't (from what I learned through my experience and reading - can't remember or i would link it).  And yes, you still need to purchase the certified copy as your original would not be accepted.  And i was as dumbfounded as you are when i learned that in my process as well :)

2.  My stepdaughter lived in the Yucatan Peninsula.  She was able to acquire her police certificate on the same day as well.  While there is no expiration date on the letter, I was advised by our attorney that the date of the letter was to be no more than 6 months old just to play it safe.  So 6 months out from the day you maily in your IV package

3.  Address change - there is a change of address/form agent that immigration also has that i filled out.  I would scan it but i found a link online which explains what you need to do a bit better, so I've linked it below.  To be honest, changing address (for me at least) wasn't that much of an issue.  I had to do that for my stepdaughter as well, and it caused no problems at all.  We changed it early on the process, much where you're at so it shouldn't be an issue. Only thing i would do is to follow up with USCIS after you've changed it to ensure they have their records straight.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressmall question??

if he is approved (from all that i've read) they will advise him at the interview.  Standard wait time is 2 weeks for the visa (per the consulate) but several flks (including a few on this site) have reported receiving the visa in as little as 2-4 days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJuarez: Invitation and/or Appointment Letter for Medical Exam

funny thing is i asked someone on this forum about that.  I was freaking out :)

for our visa (ir2) we only needed passport and interview letter to gain access.  the review you linked is pretty accurate.

if you've not done the biometrics yet, you will need your ds 260 (or whatever number app you used) confirmation page as well (but not for the medical)  they will stamp that page at the asc office and applicant will need to present it at the interview.

i asked about the invitation letter mentioned on one of the reviews.  they advised it was the appointment letter ( i was confused too lol)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about police certificate and fiance lived in US

i hope i don't speak out of line here as there are many more experienced folks on this site than I.

However, i will tell you that while Mexico they do no have the certificate, they did require a letterfrom the police, called carta de constancia. It was a letter from the PD for the town where she lived, showing that she had no criminalrecord.

It's funny because on the list they send you for forms required there is an X on the list, designating it is not available.  However, they kept our original so go figure . . . .

I am new here and all comments are appreciated. I received this notice for my K-I Fiance case.

Is it a good thing or not?

Thank you.

hi all, this is a bit wierd. My Fiance interview was 18th Jan 2013 and after the interview our K1 visa was approved, he was given a paper to pickup his visa after 10business days. Yes, we have been very excited. But today he received a call from the embassy that he should come and pickup his passport that they are still working on the case and when the visa is ready they will let him know. But for now they do not want to hold on to his passport for so long. Please what could this mean and has anyone been through this before? Im confused and dont know what to do.

USCIS Service CentersMissed an Interview in January for I-130 application that I never was notified of
Hello,
I advise you follow the directives and get the case right back on track. Yes, we have also been notified of an I 130 interview & RFE too. We thought it strange too but they have their reasons/doubts, so our job is to go there and convince them beyond the shadow of a doubt.
We may have made errors in filing our paper work( makes me wanna hit my head on the wall and shout why didn't we opt for a lawyer in the first place or joining VJ before the filing) and we didn't provide enough initial evidence. Plus a couple of other stuff.
Bottom line, we are prepping our evidence and getting ready to go get em
So please get your groove on and go get em too
Good luck!!!
