IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune 2014 Interviews

I just got off the phone with the NVC before they closed for the night, and unfortunately we are still waiting for an interview date in Montreal. But, with that said, I was notified that they're still scheduling for June in Montreal, so there's hope for us, yet. :)

Congratulations to all those who have received their dates! I hope us Canadians can join with you soon!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune 2014 Interviews

And I've officially made it to the June thread!

Our case was completed yesterday, confirmed by a phone call to the NVC and speaking to Gus. (Of everyone I've spoken to, Gus was definitely the best!) :) Now we're just eagerly awaiting our interview date.

Congratulations to everyone else who has had their interview scheduled, and case completes! We're almost there.  (L)

Happy that you too got yours as I finally got mine 4 days short of 60 days transfer to CSC.  Mine went straight to post decision saying we mailed you approval....is that normal?

I pray to see more approvals happening.  I know many are heartbroken over this and frustrated.

That's exactly what ours says, as well, so I'm going to say that it's completely normally for certain.

I do, too. It's such a tough journey, especially since I know there are many of us out there who have been waiting for years and years for this to come to fruition. We'll get there soon, though - just gotta keep our heads up, and be patient, and good things will come to those who wait.

Congrats! biggrin.png

Thank you!!

We just got the text message/email that our I-130 has been approved! So, so, so very excited! (And I'll get my stuff added in the actual August spreadsheet, I've just been in this thread since the very get go, so I've always considered myself with everyone in July. But, there you go!)

Off to NVC!

We got our hard copy of the transfer in the mail yesterday, and we've also been transferred to CSC. :) Here's to more approvals soon!

Hooray, more approvals! Congratulations to you all. :)

In preparation for the next step, I've been trying to get everything for the NVC stage gathered so I'm not scrambling around at the last minute when the time comes. I've officially changed my name on my driver's license, and soon to be on my passport also - seems so weird, though in a good way!

I'm feeling positive things coming all of our way soon!

We received a second email today, as well - one that states our petition was moved to our local USCIS office. Does that mean that it's been transferred to the closest office relative to my wife's city (e.g., Denver)?

I'm sorry I've all but disappeared from this thread - been a crazy couple of months!

Glad to see that there has finally been some movement on transfers and approvals from July filers - even if your time hasn't come yet, it still shows that you're one step closer to being together with your spouse. smile.png

That said, today we received a text message that we were transferred! Of course, like everyone else, I'm hoping it'll end up at the CSC. If anything, even if we don't receive an approval right away, this has at least kicked my butt into gear for gathering the rest of the paperwork for the NVC step.

We mailed off the petition 7/28, NOA1 was 8/5.

Woke up this morning to the email notification that our case has been accepted and routed to NBC. So, NOA1 on August 5th! (Unfortunately a longer wait than most, it seems. Though three business days taking into account the weekend isn't too bad.)

Hi! My husband and I have been in the same situation. We were separated for a year, but we couldn't take it, so I moved to the Netherlands with him (thank God for the EU). We've been waiting for DOMA's demise for 4 years. I can finally go home without having to give up my husband!

Yeah, we've been dealing with being long distance for the four of six years we've been together, and circumstances prevented us from wanting to live here in Canada, but we're just so glad that the end is finally in sight - just as you are! :)

Hooray! I can finally post in here. :)

My wife has just sent off the I-130 (July 28th), so we are just scraping into this month's topic, haha. But, our case is also thanks to the end of section 3 of DOMA, so I'm excited that we can finally get this show on the road!

Good luck to all. ?

Hooray to all of those who have received their case completes and are waiting for their interviews! And I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts who are still waiting. :)

I'm leaving tomorrow evening (I suppose this evening, now that it's after midnight, haha) for Montreal - my interview is on Monday morning. I spent tonight gathering and organizing all of my paperwork, making sure I wasn't missing anything crucial. We've been reading up on consulate reviews, and though we're both feeling super nervous still - nerves won't seem to go away - I know that everything is going to go smoothly.

Oh, and the medical exam in Surrey was not only a breeze, but Dr. Cheema was absolutely fantastic. I was very pleased with the whole experience!

ThailandCertificate of Divorce from Thailand

Was she legally married before? Many times we are not even though we use terms that indicate we are or were.

She tells me that she had registered her marriage with the amphur.  So, I would interpret that as a legal marriage.

She has a certificate of divorce from the amphur in BangNa, that just says that her and her ex-husband have registered their divorce there.

She says that they both went there together and they gave the clerk their marriage certificate and received their divorce certificate.  Apparently they had

nothing to divide or dispute ( a simple divorce? ).  So, if that is all she has, which she tells me is all she has, is that document enough to prove she is divorced to the

U.S. immigration / embassy officials?

ThailandCertificate of Divorce from Thailand

I am preparing K-1 visa petition for my girlfriend in Thailand.  She took all of her important documents for translation and one of them is called a certificate of divorce.  Is that all that is needed to submit with the petition that she is single and free to marry?  She claims that is all she has for documentation regarding the divorce.

Thailandwhile waiting for NVC case number....

I sent my fiancee for her police check a couple of weeks ago, with the NOA2 letter.  They also asked for a copy of my passport.  Once you request it, the wait is about 3 weeks.  Be prepared to furnish a copy of your passport.  I know it isn't supposed to be required, but it seems like they won't do it otherwise.

Thailandreceived case #.....

Don't wait for the email. Once you see that your case status has changed to ready send Packet 3. Then once you get the packet 4 email you can send the embassy an email asking for stand by. I sent an email last week and was able to take a canceled slot. Here is the thread I started.

http://www.visajourn...bassy-schedule/

Thanks for the helpful advice long_ . I will give it a shot.

I'm not counting on Dec, just hoping.  I have all of the packet 3 items finished, just waiting for the case number and email from the embassy to send it in.

Awesome news for you!  I hope mine is soon to follow ( 10/16 NOA2 from CA ).  I'm hoping for a December interview.  It all hinges on when NVC gets around to the mid October approvals.

ThailandPackage 3 question

negative01...marriage certificate you receive from county you are married in after marriage....free to marry I believe is if your fiancé has a child out of wedlock.

I see, I don't have the marriage certificate and I don't see the point if your are divorced...I didn't have these documents last time.

ThailandPackage 3 question

I'm finishing up the checklist for package 3 for the K1 visa application that will be processed in Bangkok.

I don't know what "marriage certificates" are.  The letter asks to send

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES: Both Petitioner and Beneficiary must present all of their official
marriage certificates.

We are both divorced and have the correct paperwork for those.  What is a marriage certificate?

I'm also curious about what a free to marry certificate is and how
you get one if it is required and when is it required?  I'm a bit confused by this part of the process.

Thanks.

ThailandHelp with things needed for Police Certificate

You don't need all of that for the police check.

http://photos.state....ipolicecert.pdf

They will ask for a copy of your passport, although it is not supposed to be required.  The rest of the information you thought you needed about yourself is not needed.

Thailandreceiving visa options other than mail ( BKK specific )

Thanks everybody.  I hope I didn't offend anyone with my question.  I wasn't implying the post office wasn't trust worthy.  I'm only worried about getting the passport w/visa in it and associated documents with minimal delay as my visit during this upcoming trip will be short.

Thailandreceiving visa options other than mail ( BKK specific )

Is there an option besides mailing the visa package to the beneficiary's home address?  We are a bit apprehensive about trusting the Thai postal system.  I thought I read some where that there is a specific post office near the embassy where the package can be picked up.

When did the embassy receive your case or was it still in transit?

When did you send the packet 3?right before Thanksgiving?

Our lawyer sent in our packet 3 last week also?we had NVC number but the status showed in transit since then on the CEAC website.

The "CEAC" website showed in transit for about 1 week, and 11/26 it showed "ready", it was at that point that we sent in package 3.  It was received the next day on 11/27.

Good luck.
