K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Success!

Hi Congrats!

I read your post and I just have a few questions. Did they actually say that he should have his visa in hand in 1 to 2 weeks? My fiancee Mohamed had his interview in Casa on September 26th. It has been almost 6 weeks. I am just surprised to hear that they said it would go through that fast. I hope it is true for you.

Janelle

I think it is standard for them to give one or two weeks as an estimate. It seems that most checks do come back within that time frame, but there are always those that take longer. I don't think they're able to predict ahead of time which checks will take longer than the two week estimate.

I hope your fiance's visa comes through soon!

And I guess I didn't expect someone here to think he had bad intentions toward me.

I don't think it was anyone's intention to imply that. No one here could possible know and it's not important what anyone here thinks anyway. What is important is how the interviewing officer in Casablanca views your case. They are constantly on the lookout for things that might suggest fraud, so you need to make sure you are aware of anything in your case that might be a red flag for fraud so that you can supply adequate proof to the contrary.

Also something to be considered when thinking about getting married in Morocco is how much time you'll spend running around in order to get married. I think I remember someone saying it took a considerable amount of time (many days, maybe more than a week). The logistics seemed to me nightmarish.

I am not sure if you've spent time with your fiance before, but if this is your first visit, maybe consider just spending time together, seeing if you click, rather than add lots of stress in getting married rush rush.

Good advice.

Also, marrying after a brief courtship can be seen as a red flag. And Casablanca is always on the lookout for those.

A quick timeline search for average times of K1 vs. K3 through Morocco shows a K1 at 177 days vs. a K3 at 213 days. This would imply that, on average, a K1 is faster. Keep in mind though that every case is different, and any given K1 petition could potentially take longer than a K3. Click on Immigration Timelines and you can do your own searches by service center if you wish.

The fact that he has family already here in the US *could* be a red flag in your case. Casablanca is a tough consulate. I would suggest that you check out the Middle East/North Africa forum. There are many people going through Casablanca and you can get some great advice there!

Best of luck to you on your journey! (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone ever had any success filing an expidited fiance visa case?

You are Pissed off by my words! I apologize for saying the country of Morocco is a Terrorist State! I live in USA! Minnesota where a Moroccan Man wanted to learn to fly a Jumbo jet! Not Land, just fly!!!His name was Zacharia Moussaaouri. We also have the Madrid Bombings which killed many innocent people including Christians
More words of his life: Again the suspect where from ??? Morocco.

Great heart-felt apology!

A "terrorist state" means that the state sponsors terrorism. According to the U.S. Department of State there are only five state sponsors of terrorism: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.

While there may be terrorists that come from Morocco, Morocco is NOT a terrorist state.

Do not yell back at us the people that your Man can turn the world to truth!!!!! My Woman from Russia has the feeling and knows my love!!! Stop being an idiot!! I can give you many miles of web pages! Don't think your alone!!! Please read the link! I want to give the Men a realistic ending for the life I have!!!!!1

Morocco is not a known terrorist state. Unless some new definition of known terrorist state has been assigned. Ah, perhaps Arab Muslim country = terrorist state. Yes, now I see.

thus why it is important to try and understnd how the consulate one goes through operates is so important

I am not sure what it is you have just said.......

Wouln't you agree by this point that giving the same advice regarding evidence for the I-129F to someone from Morocco as someone from the UK would be a bad idea?

Jenn,

Are you asking that of me? If so please see one of my first posts in this thread. I specifically said that I do not recommend that anyone do as I have done.

Sorry, i didn't understand what you found confusing about mybackpages' statement. Apparently it was the grammar and not the meaning that was unclear to you.

If they are 'secretly' discriminating, how the heck would we find out about it? That would mean it wasn't a very well kept 'secret'.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresItalian Police Certificate?
I had to get an Italian police certificate for my husband. I sent in this form with 20 euros payment, and I received the certificate in about 2 weeks.

http://www.visajourn...h...ost&id=2109

I don't remember where I learned about how much the payment was, since this form doesn't seem to state it, but it worked for me. Also, I ordered the "certificato generale". Hope this helps!

What if someone worked at a coffee shop in Amsterdam? Do you think they should list that? Do you think it would require a waiver?
Jenn!FemaleMorocco2007-01-12 11:20:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExactly how honest to be?

jenn,

Indeed, the name of the place and the occupation is all they need to know - consular officers know their local city.

Thee_Rak has a valid concern.

Yodrak

I would just go ahead and list it. They don't check into the places as far as I know. The name of the employer is Akane, and the occupation is masseuse, that's all they need to know.

.....

Eh, good point. I didn't think of that.

But if you want to go the other route, we omitted some of my husband's previous employers for various reasons - no longer in business, some under the table work. And we had no problems.

i don't understand how i can email him the completed g325a.....it says you can't save a copy to your computer so thats why i figured i had to mail all this to him to sign................

You could just print out the form and fax it (or scan and email it). He can then sign it and return it to you by regular mail.

Yup, don't waste the money sending now, fax or email and he'll have to send it back to you with the signatures.

Later on when I needed to send all the stuff for the interview to Morocco, I used DHL. Cost me about $150 to send it all, but it arrived safely within 2 days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please,lost NOA2

I registered on the USCIS website and checked the status of my case. It saus that it was approved and the NOA2 was sent out, do you think that would work???

Won't work, they want a copy of the actual NOA2 form that was sent in the mail.

People have sent it before and it has been accepted, but that doesn't mean that you can always get away with it.

Ah, well then it's too late now. You could have gotten email updates of the progress of your case by registering your case number at uscis.gov.

Sounds like you'll have to get the replacement NOA2 then.

If you want to take a chance, I've heard of people sending a copy of the approval email when they've lost the hard copy. But there's a possibility you might get an RFE for the hard copy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSignature question
I would say that it's fine as long as his passport has it the same way. My husband's signature is barely more than a scribble, no distinguishable letters whatsoever, and we've never had any problems with USCIS over it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOpinions on attorneys
I am using an attorney, and I have to tell you, I'm glad I did for the first part of this. Not because it's complex, but because I really didn't know where to begin. Now that I'm in the middle of it, I am still glad I have an attorney just to make sure everything I'm doing is right.

That being said, I also think if you have a good sense of what to do, and are highly organized, and your case is pretty straightforward, as long as you follow instructions to the letter, there's really no reason to get an attorney. Because sometimes I wonder where notices will go (to me or to the attorney), and if the attorney is forwarding them as soon as they receive them... because frankly, they don't have as much invested in this as we do. It's OUR lives, not theirs. It's just their job.

Good luck whatever you decide!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC...how long?

Why couldnt you just say "it took us 3 weeks but you your time could vary" instead of that long winded speech about using the search function. You think i dont know there is a search function? I know there is a search function, its right there at the top of the screen. I am just lazy and would rather people answer my question than tell me to use the search function and i spend 20 or 30 minutes looking around. This way i can post my message and come back in an hour or so and see if it was answered. Much quicker for me. Imagine if every single user gave an answer like yours...there would be absolutely no information about anything. Just a website of people telling each other to use the search function or worse...telling each other to google the answer

You CAN'T be serious. Imagine if every single user was like you and unable to do a simple thing like using a search function for your particular embassy? This message board would be filled with dbs!!

Ken_Maria gave the perfect advice for you. Well, the perfect advice would have been to tell you to do something with yourself, but barring that, follow Ken_Maria's advice, and you should find all the information you need.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetitoner's Criminal History

On the I129F it says that the petitioner must provide certified copies of police and court records for certain types of legal transgressions. It also says that this is done in order to comply with the International Marriage Brokers Act. Does this mean that you only need to provide this information/documentation if you met your foreign fiancee through a marriage broker, or do all petitioners need to answer this part and provide documentation? Thanks for any advice anybody can provide.

I had to provide police records (or lack thereof, in my case). I've never had more than a speeding ticket (which are not on the record, by the way), and they still want that proof. In Massachusetts, it took me 2 weeks to receive it.
