K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSetting a Date!!! Are you kidding?
You dont have to show proof of wedding plans. Just proof of ongoing relationship. Why make wedding plans when there is no guarantee that they will even get approved to come to the states. This is plain common sense.

Why are you worried? It has only been two weeks. You will not get a date or the packet just that quick. You should know by now that everything is a waiting game.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp, emergency!
He only boke his thigh bone. People brake bones all the time. This is not an emergency situation. Unfortunately he will be in a cast for quite sometime but he will be able to return to work with the cast on as well if someone can assist him with transportation after a period of time. So what is the emergency?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 PETITION SENT BACK TO US FOR RE-EVALUATUON.. Whats next?
I was partial in that same situation but I am the petitioner. I had did a k1 visa, it was approved and he actually went to the interview but they wanted me to come so no visa was granted at that time. This happened in 2009. Things happend and I deceided not to ever got to the embassy. Well in 2010 (December) i was introduced to my now husband. Once we spoke of marraige I contacted the embassy to see what happened to that k1 petition. To my suprise it was still open. I thought it was canceled due to abandoment but it was not. I called the embassy several times and told them I wanted the petition canceled since I had moved on long time and was planning to get married. They sent my case back to USCIS and informed them of this, and I was able to receive an actual letter from them stating my petition was formerly canceled. So when I filed my I130 for my husband I made sure I included that letter so there would not be any question prior to or during the interview. My proof was right there. When ever you are involed with paperwork for anyone you should always check the status of what happened to it. You need to call your embassy and request for it to be canceled.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresScheduled Wedding before receiving K1 Visa
I re point the mistake because in life you always educate yourself on something before acting on it. This is why I made the statement in which I made. It is like saying would you buy a car when you dont have a license to drive and not sure you are going to get it. This is a process that you have got to study prior to going forward with it. If you dont you will make mistakes that will cost you in the end. When it comes to a wedding they will not give refunds. If you cancel you will mearly be at a lost. With this process you cannot jump the gun. There are enough timelines posted on here just to get an idea of reality. Look at how long some cases may take. Regardless of what USCIS or NVC says it comes down to the interview and them saying approved! If she had taken the time to read some of these posts she would have realized it. All she can do is speak with the vendors and explain the situation and try to ask for another date much further out hoping that her fiance will be here by then.

Caryh this is what I am saying. Wait a little dont rush! when two people come from different cultures there is a lot to consider and if you dont before hand someone is going to be in for a shock. I do agree it does go both ways. There is no way to be certain.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPeople make up your mind before bringing someone here!!
Why is it that everytime I turn around I see someone bringing a person over to the states on a K1 visa and then decide not to get married. Although I am a US Citizen I hate the fact that this is happening. People you need to make up your mind before making this commitment and spending all this money. Must be nice to have money to play with. Even more playing with peoples emotions and dreams. I am well aware that everyone does not come over in all honesty, but those that do and left to believe they are loved by the person who petitions for them to only be left in a bad situation. I feel sorry for those that come here have no family or friends only to be told I DONT WANT TO GET MARRIED ANYMORE so I guess you will have to go back. Why could you not figure that out before going that far!! Some people come from really bad living situations and really dont want to go back. There was enough love to start the situation! Geesh I just dont know what to say. Just to clarify I am married to a wonderful man from another country. We have been married for more than a year. I am glad I did not file for him till 7 months later because it made me even more sure to want to be with him and to be with him more in his environment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich one is better... Proof of Citizenship for the Petitioner.

I'm gathering all my stuff and ready to make copies. Do they want copies of all the pages of my passport or my certificate can I just make a copy of that or do they want both to be on the safe side.

Also is their any personal info on my passport if I do make copies that I'll need to blur out?

What are some personal things when making copies and sending evidence like passport, certificates, emails, phone records that is recommended to blur out that they really don't need to see. I ask because I see people here saying blur out your personal info. ????

Thank you!

You can either send a copy of ur citizen certificate or the unexpired copy of ur US passeport...For me I only send the copy of my citizen certificate & they accept it...Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranlated Marriage certificate has the wrong date
It is a little complicated, I didn't know you are having the wrong dates in all documents. But if your case already approved just make sure she brings with her a new translated marriage certificate at the day of the Interview and if she is asked she can give it to them & say it was a mistake that noone pay attention to it. This is the truth you are telling us too. I hope you won't have any problem & everyhing goes smooth. Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranlated Marriage certificate has the wrong date
You said your wife is going to Interview soon & the I-130 already approved and she is scheduled for Interview. Also mean that you already send the original certificate of marriage along with the translation to NVC with the IV-packet. So I will say the only thing they will need is the right date of marriage and not the stamped one it is weird that u are having that kind of issue because mine wasn't. So just to be safe ask your wife to go to a translator in Morocco and translate the marriage certificate stating when the marraige happened & he doesn't need to care of the stamped date. Good luck

I feel like just the simple fact that we have waited 5 + months should be enough for approval. This is enough of a test for me; I feel like we shouldn't have to go through the interview process!

Everyday, several times a day (even on weekends, I know it's pointless) I check USCIS and Visa Journey. I am really beginning to hate Igor and his stupid list. I get a twitch each time I see "Initial Review."

Ugh.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdenied k1 visa

we actually met 10 years ago via mutual friends, but we were just friends back then, then in 06, when i went to haiti on vaca, thats when we fell in love n we've been together since..

I mean - 6 years of relationship! That's an awful lot of time! I can't believe that their reason was to assume this relationship isn't real. You put pictures in there from the last 6 years, right? Or did he just bring them with him to the interview? Because if you put them in the petition already, how could they even doubt that this is not true love?!

I assume that it's maybe something else that's not quite right. Maybe the sponsoring wasn't enough for them. I just don't know how you can find that out. But before you go and fight you should find out what the reason for the denial was. Have your fiance scan the letter he got from the CO for you and look at it closely. Is there a number you can call? Google the matter and maybe send us the exact words again.

That's wonderful, sammdt!
I like that you didn't give up and fought for it. And even better: you WON!

I have to admit I'm a bit anxious because my fiance is 15 years older than me. We both were never married and neither of us has kids. I just hope that the CO believes that love knows no age boundaries!

@kehalie89:
You said you visited your fiance once after the earthquake and he visited you once. How often did you see each other in total during those 6 years? [edit: you already answered that ;)] How did you two get to know each other?

Try to fight the decision - it's not lost yet! Look at sammdt's story. You can do it, too! It's not fair that they deny two people who love each other to be together for the rest of their lives. And if you lose the fight then marry him in Haiti and file CR-1. It's still better than not having him with you at all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenied k-1 visa

Good day everyone. My fiancée was denied visa after one bogus question. She had all the evidence and paperworks to prove our relationship. The interview was going well until the consulate officer asked my fiancée if during our traditional engagement ceremony, I gave any monetary gift to her parents. My fiancée answered yes. Then the CO declared that that signifies a dowry and according to the Nigerian law, we are married. My fiancée tried to explain to her that it was just a gift for her parents and not a dowry, but the CO insisted that as long as money was paid, it was marriage and I should go back and refile for her as a wife and not a fiancée. We only did an engagement ceremony and not marriage. If I had filed for her as a wife, how would I have provided a proof of marriage when we are not yet married?. Please, I need an advice on what to do because it's been 9 months already and I do not want to have to travel to get married and start this whole process all over again ...gush!

I will say you should contact your district representative about this and make sure you do that before the petition returns to NVC. Wish you good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport style photo question
My partner and I have been trying to assemble the i-129f package for the last three weeks and we're gradually getting there (tough considering that he's currently in the states and I'm in London.

Our only last issue is the passport-style photos that are supposed to go with the G-325. He got his taken at a photobooth in the US but we didn't want to have to wait for another two weeks for me to send my hardcopy photos over so I just took some digitally and he got them printed at Walmart.

My only concern now is that this photo isn't right - possibly too zoomed in? I'm wondering if we'll get an RFE or something if we send it in as is. It means a good bit of extra waiting though, and we wanted to get it in tomorrow.

Thoughts?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 (Annual Income)
Hello all,

On the form I-134, under section 7, it states:

"I derive an annual income of:"

Towards the end of 2012, I changed positions at my company and am making significantly more than I did in 2012. I know it's said that you should always give them the current but I just want to be completely sure. Should I be listing essentially my currently weekly wage x 52 weeks and entering that number? Or should I list what I made in 2012? I believe the answer is the current and thus I should list what I expect to make this year based off of my current wage.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAugust Filers
Our NOA1 was August 3rd. We received our NOA2 on February 21st. The wait felt like forever and it was very frustrating at times as you see some people who filed after you get approved and wonder what's the hold up. But just keep checking in on the USCIS website, it'll come soon. And the way things are going for us and from what I've heard from others, things move very quickly after receiving NOA2. This is the longest wait of the whole process, each day brings you closer to completion. Once you get NOA2, it won't be much longer til you're together. Hang in there buddy

Thank you everyone, you're all so kind

My fiancee will be paying the Application fee at BPI in a few hours and hopefully able to schedule an interview 4 hours later. I hear it's better to schedule it online rather than via phone but I'm not sure.

A question about the medical exam. I see this as the requirements:

Regular Immigrants and K-Visa Applicants

Valid passport
Photocopy of Passport Biographic/Data Page, the page in the passport that contains the applicant's photo and information
3 pieces recent 2x2 visa photos (2 for submission to the U.S. Embassy, 1 for clinic file)

The US Embassy requires you to bring the 2x2 photos for your visa issuance. We regret not to release the medical report until such time that you can provide this requirement.
Appointment letter from the Embassy or Instruction letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), if available,
2 photocopies of your Appointment Letter/ Instruction Letter
Applicants are also required to provide the name, address and contact number of their petitioner in the U.S.A.

The visa photos and passport aren't an issue. But I see it asks for an Appointment/Instruction letter from the embassy. If we register using the online method for the interview, would we receive an email that would essentially be the Appointment letter and in turn act as the Appointment letter they're asking for at the medical exam? I ask because I hear the embassy is very slow with sending out things to people and I don't want a situation where we've scheduled an interview but don't have what's necessary to complete the medical exam causing issues.

Thank you for the replies, you all are wonderful :)

We've got everything on that link Tahoma which is great. My fiancee will be paying the Application fee at BPI in the morning. I was unaware about the CFO situation. When exactly should this be done? I see that it's a 2hr seminar. The sticker is provided at the end of the seminar correct? Judging by the way things look, We'll need to have the Visa already for us to do the Seminar as it asks for visa info I've noticed on the registration. So this is something we'd do after the interview? Just trying to avoid any form of delays.

Thanks everyone!

yes u have to pay the visa fee to BPI and you could schedule interview.. Visa fee is not $350 but $240...

I'm glad you brought up the pricing, I've seen some discrepancy with the price. Some things say $240 and others say $350. Basically, some docs from US say it's $240 but then the Philippines is telling me it's $350.
