K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrenup...?
When my husband and I got married, we were both poor college students with no assets. So, we obviously didn't need a prenup.
I think prenups can be a good idea if both partners are agreeable to it; however, if one feels pressured and unhappy, then it can definitely cause some problems in the marriage.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent
Thanks for the info! We are actually waiting for James to get his interview letter, probably why we hadn't heard about it yet. I know each country is different so it might not matter for us, but now that I know, I will send one to him just in case. Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent
When you say that you are supposed to prepare new letters of intent for the interview stage, do you mean that you are supposed to send them into the embassy or have them along at the interview.

My fiance is waiting for his interview in Dublin and nothing like that was ever mentioned.... He has the exact copy of the I129F petition which contains our original letters of intent, but we never wrote new ones. Is this something we should be doing?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressignature required...whos?
Yes, all 4 pages must be signed.
But they don't all need to be filled out by hand. If you fill them out on the computer entering the info in the first page will fill in the rest.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressignature required...whos?
Pretty sure he needs to fill it out, print it, sign it and mail it to you. If getting to a printer is difficult for him, you could always mail him the forms.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Package
Haha, I do like your meaning of 'touch' better! I kinda thought thats what it meant when I first starting reading VJ posts too!
j&jsNot TellingIreland2006-01-31 17:39:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Package
A 'Touch' is when someone from immigration looks at your file. When you check your status online, it sometimes shows that your petition was viewed, but no change in status, that is a 'touch'

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Package
Well all the requirements say is that you must have met face-to-face within the last 2 years (and even that can be gotten around.) So if you think you have enough evidence to prove your relationship and can get it all together during your first visit, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help With Question
I can't believe that all these papers are so messed up. I am certainly going to be careful about spell/date-checking every important document I get from now on.... Thats the US govt (and lawyers) for ya I guess

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help With Question
You have probably already tried, but I would fight them like crazy to get a corrected copy for free since it is their screw-up, not yours.

Other then that I agree with everybody else, I wouldn't risk it.

Murphy's Law: if you blow it off, they will ask for it; if you get it, you will never need it

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview tomorrow!
Hey everyone, sorry to keep you hanging for so long! James did get the visa  I've just been at work all day! I was so nervous around the time I knew he would be finding out. I had told him to text me with the answer since I would be in the middle of class when he got out, Had the kiddies doing worksheets so I could be peeking at my phone all day

He's gettng a ticket ASAP and could be here by the end of the weekend

Thanks so much for all the good wishes, it was great knowing people around the world were rooting for us!

I will post about his experience on either the foreign embassy or the Irish in the US topics as soon as we have a chance to talk about it all!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview tomorrow!
My fiance is going on his interview at the Dublin embassy tomorrow! We are both so nervous!! Please send some good mojo and keep your fingers crossed for us!!

Also any last minute advice on anything would be appreciated. We feel very ready, but who knows what we may have overlooked!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescan the Fiancee visa process abroad expire?
Your petition will expire in 4 months after it is approved. I think I have heard that it is fairly easy for an embassy to get this extended if they are the ones who will cause it to be delayed, don't really know if it is easily extended for your delay or not. Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstill confused about something
Well people on here have not sent evidence of relationship in and been approved. I had gotten the advice to send this evidence in, had a pretty large packet and was still approved very quickly. So I would say do whatever will make you feel comfortable!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 proof of meeting question
I did ours by category (all stubs on 1 sheet, pics on 1 sheet, etc and then typed a label for each) And it worked fine! Go with what makes sense to you
j&jsNot TellingIreland2006-02-10 16:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan fiance visit during process?
The tough thing about visiting during the K1 process is that your fiance needs to prove that he really intends to go over for just a visit and will be returning home to finish the visa process. He should bring evidence to the airport of this. Something like an apartment lease, a job contract, etc. Anything that proves ties to the Netherlands. I think that you should be fine, I don't think he's coming from a high risk country or anything, so I would think that he should probably be ok, but be prepared for the possibility that he will be turned away because they think he intends to bypass the visa process.... Good Luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCar accident!
I couldn't tell from your post- has he actually indicated he will bring you to court or try anything, or is this just something you are nervous about might happen? Either way good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMonday is a holiday!
I don't actually know about their schedule, but my guess would be no. Its still a government agency and most people have the day off
j&jsNot TellingIreland2006-02-18 18:37:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's Birth Certificate Required for I-129F?
Yea, I know that it doesn't say you need to include it on this board, or on the actual instructions, but I have read elsewhere that it is a good idea. And seeing as how you do have the birth certificate and therefore its not a hard thing to do, I would say include it!
I have read the argument that giving them things they didn't ask for makes your petition take longer to get approved, but I don't know how accurate that is. I included lots of things that the instructions don't ask for but that I had read in one place or another were a good thing to include. My petition was approved very quickly and I know of others who did the same and got the same results. I know others have included only what they asked for and gotten good results, but I figure if the extra evidence/materials is easy enough to include, why leave anything to be questioned?

Good Luck!
