K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	Hooray for all of the approvals! We hit a brick wall. Interview appointments at the Nairobi embassy have historically (well, for the past year or two on VJ, including a couple who scheduled theirs Aug. 28) been available as little as a few days out, and generally no more than a week from what I've seen. So, when I finally got into the system yesterday, I was really not expecting the earliest appointment to be...Nov. 7. We managed to reschedule to a Nov. 5 one since then, but we'd picked a tentative wedding date of Nov. 3 (which should have been feasible) to generate evidence to bring to the interview, so that's looking dubious. Yay. Dead-of-winter-style wedding, coming right up. Hoping we can get an earlier date (and checking obsessively), but...meh. It's not the end of the world. But when this is supposed to be one relatively predictable, straightforward part of this whole messed-up process, it makes me even more worried about the parts that are anything but predictable or straightforward, you know?	afoyoswa	Female	Uganda	2012-09-11 21:31:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	How's everyone holding up? I was sick earlier this week and am still trying to get back up to speed. So sorry to see people still waiting. Depressingly, guess what comes after NOA2? MORE WAITING. And if someone complains about post-NOA2 waiting when you're still awaiting NOA2, you think to yourself (I know *I* did!), "Oh, that won't be so bad! Because at least at that point, things are HAPPENING! So I won't mind *that* kind of waiting: just THIS kind." But after NOA2, there's plenty more uncertainty and time spent in limbo with both of you getting progressively more anxious and feeling as though nothing will ever move forward again at all and there are still a gazillion steps to go before you are together or can even see each other. And all of this comes when you are too tired to handle any of it with even a fraction of the grace and patience you had buckets of lying around back in February. Chins up, everyone! I wondered why those dates were missing Joy Might have a go at looking in the gaps again eiether sides of those missing days. It would be nice to have a complete picture of the month wouldn't it? But goodness, how time consuming is this...! Be my guest! I just created columns for the missing dates so if you find any #s you will have somewhere to put them. Last night I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for I-129Fs in the gap between 2/15 and 2/21 and didn't come up with much. I stopped at EAC1290454100, having gone by 10s from EAC129044something. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	Ok...I have a question about the I-134 Affidavit of Support. I might just be being incredibly stupid here!!! In the step-by-step instructions (http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide) Number 5 in the What to send your fiance...box states: "Specifically you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and ueful information on the Affidavit of Support Form." Now forgive me if i'm being blind but we see no Section II or list of 4 options?!?!?! What is it asking for? I think those instructions are out of date, and what they are referring to is question 7, which allows you to list monetary amounts in 5 categories (employment income, savings, stocks and bonds, life insurance, and real estate). However, I don't know about any requirement for a minimum number of categories to include. The USCIS I-134 instructions (http://www.uscis.gov.../i-134instr.pdf) say: "Evidence should consist of copies of any of the documents below that applies to your situation." If that particular category doesn't apply to your situation, then it seems that you wouldn't need to include it. I've been having this conversation with folks in the Nairobi embassy thread. Others were talking about including letters from banks, and I asked whether I needed to do that if I am not listing any assets on the I-134, given that I have more than enough income to meet the requirements. I'm not including any evidence of stocks/bonds, real estate, or life insurance, either, so it doesn't make sense that it would matter how many categories you include: just that there is a sufficient amount to meet the poverty line requirements. They won't necessarily have any information to give you, but it doesn't hurt to try. The VSC petitions seem to be showing up at NVC 7-10 days after NOA2 right now. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, so Gav tried (in between the ceremony and reception ) and he couldn't find anything either. Odd! I was told that ours shipped on Monday, but it didn't show up as being picked up by DHL until Tuesday afternoon, so yours will probably become visible today sometime. You should go to the DHL thread and see if you can find your (possible) package to track. Our petition (which it must be, being the only package shipped from NVC to Kenya that day) is currently in a plane between London and (presumably) Kenya. It's so surreal to think that I may actually see Aaron (for the interview) in maybe 2-3 weeks! Being long-distance seems a lot more "normal" somehow right now than being together. Is the beneficiary allowed to call the NVC, or does it still have to be the petitioner, like a the USCIS stage? The first 2 times I called, they didn't check any information at all, but merely asked for my receipt/case # (and then told me there was no record of it and to wait until 15 business days past approval to call back). When I called the third time, they asked me to verify my and Aaron's names and birthdates, and then asked whether I was the petitioner, so it sounded as though either party could call to check the status as long as you have the necessary information. I also have a few other Feb. 14 petitions that I found near that range. And also, a tad curious: how was there one more withdrawn/rejected on "Aug. 10" than "Now" for 2/1 (26) vs. 2/14 (25)? I haven't managed to create a working formula that counts the withdrawn/rejected petitions, so I am counting them manually. Progress in the spreadsheet since my last update: 2/1: 1 RFE 2/2: 1 approval, 2 RFEs 2/3: 1 approval 2/6: 3 approvals, 1 RFE 2/7: nothing (???) 2/8: 4 approvals 2/9: 4 approvals 2/10: 1 RFE 2/13: 7 approvals, 2 RFEs 2/14: 1 RFE 2/21: 7 approvals, 5 RFEs 2/22: 1 RFE 2/24: nothing 2/27: nothing 2/28: nothing 2/29: nothing Weirdly, all of those were from yesterday and Wednesday, and I didn't see anything at all from today. We were also told that our case is under AP in NVC stage, but they sent the case the day after that to the embassy Because of being under AP at NVC, I searched the entire VJ and asked several members about it and I was almost going to kill myself! But the result was that AP at NVC is COMPLETELY different from the AP that you may get at the embassy level. Apparently, the AP at NVC is just some additional work. You know, like they have to move your case to the room down the hall instead of the next room I think everyone would agree with me that this is SO MUCH additional work anyhow, there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to worry about this. I bet they will send your case out early next week Thanks: I so hope you're right! The sensation of finally feeling like we're in motion only to slam into a brick wall was not so pleasant. I'm not having the best day! My plans for tonight stood me up, and my attempts to arrange something else for tonight and something at all for tomorrow also fell through, so between that, "additional processing," and spending a lot of time in automated menu limbo and talking to clueless people to try to get my phone line sorted out, I'm feeling pretty stabby. Trying to decide whether it will improve my mood more to organize the kitchen or to curl up in front of a nice Scrubs episode with a glass of wine. Maybe both, sequentially, after I check some receipt #s! At least it made it to NVC: I'm sure my petition is as happy as I am to have nothing to do with Vermont ever, EVER again. Gavin + Heather, I'm sure yours will get there soon! There don't seem to be any recent threads about it, but according to the old ones, this could be bad. Like, months longer. And of course, there's absolutely no way at all to know why, or what exactly is going on. How on earth did I not realize this was a possibility? For some reason, I only registered the major hangups in this circus as being VSC and the embassy. Nothing for today, maybe to early? (I hope...) I still have notifications turned on for most of the VSC February filers, and I got a notice earlier when I was at work that you got your NOA2: CONGRATS! Thought you guys might like to see the summary statistics section of it. Obviously there's a lot of variation from one day to the next, and the figures for the time periods with more petitions represented are more accurate than those for the time periods with very few, but here it is! We need more in the 2/22-2/29 section! All the numbers that were sent to me had nice little clusters around them, but I'll have to poke around for some more at some point. Feel free to PM me if you want viewing access to this document. Edit: and, obviously, there's nothing for 2/15, 2/16, 2/17, or 2/20 at all. None from 2/23 or 2/28 either. I believe my timeline said yesterday that my case would be adjudicated between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24, if I recall correctly? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	Thanks, everyone! I *am* happy, but there was a lot of feeling really dazed at the beginning. I had just left work at ~4:30pm, and was about to drive outside the city to buy my new sofa (i.e. the final piece of the Getting Things Ready For Aaron plan: I was just joking to him on the phone at lunchtime that the NOA2 could arrive whenever it wanted, now that I have the couch--that maybe the universe was waiting for me to be completely, TOTALLY ready), and when I got to the car I pulled out my phone to turn the ringer back on after having it on silent all day at work. There was a new text from like 2 minutes before that, and then it turned out to be USCIS saying my case had been updated. I don't have a smart phone, so cue my frantically driving to a nearby Dunkin' Donuts and then stealing some free wireless in the entryway so I could log into my account at USCIS and see what happened. And then I called Aaron, who didn't even answer the first time I called because his phone was charging in another room, and who is of course completely over the moon (although not enough that I could convince him to leave for Kampala to start working on the documents he needs right away--at midnight. Geez, why not???). So, back to the matter at hand: does anyone else have receipt #s who hasn't already sent them to me? Particularly from the end of February. No worries Vermont, just skip over the 2nd week of February, no problem..... I was planning on moving to Vermont with my fiance, but after this experience, I don't even want to hear the word Vermont spoken ever again. Tomorrow is day 180 and not a damn word. To be fair, I don't have any receipt #s between Feb. 8 and Feb. 13, so it is impossible for me to find approvals within that timeframe. If you have a receipt # I can try to build a set of numbers from, let me know and I will try! It looks like they tripped over a box of Feb. 21 petitions and thought, what the heck, let's look at these. Feb. 21: 5 approvals yesterday / 20 approvals today I am so bewildered. Especially since one of them was ours. I was really not expecting this at all, because we were so very, very, very far from being "next in line." I feel bad being happy. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	Those couple whose NOA1 is dated 2/27/12 who got approved 2 days ago made me so excited as I have the same NOA1 date. Hopefully, we all done within 2 weeks. Do you have any approved petitions around that date? Thanks. I actually don't have any numbers past 2/21: if you wouldn't mind PMing me yours to give me some idea of the range to search, though, I'll try to find some. Most of the numbers I have are from earlier in the month, so it would be great to balance those out and get some idea of what's going on later in the month. Yeah. When I gathered these I was searching down by the 100s as I just wanted to get a rough idea on progress. This was around the time VSC was slowing down and I wanted to be sure it wasn't just visa journey members neglecting to update their progress (hah yeah right!) I've been checking your spreadsheet and it's very impressive! It's actually quite helpful to see the % completed from the dates. Nice job. Thanks! In other news, I just found a few islands of I-129Fs received 2/8, and there is a LOT of recent activity. Out of 31 petitions, 13 are already approved, and 3 more have RFEs.
