IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmother did my MC translation.

The translation does not need to be notarized. The translation does need to be certified. There is a big difference between notarizing and certifying a translation. A notarized translation requires a notary public. A certified translation can be done by anyone.

In addition, there is a huge difference between a certified translation and a certified copy from the issuing authority.

To properly certify a translation, the translator must include a certification block. Use the sample provided by USCIS; http://www.uscis.gov...0000ecd190aRCRD

Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________
Date Typed Name
Address

There is a certification similar to this one at the bottom of the translation. Thanks.

I translated my documents and I was told they weren't acceptable because they had to be notarized in the presence of the translator or something absurd like that. But I think you'll be ok. Of course, this info I got did not come from USCIS, but instead word of mouth.....which I learned very quickly from this process is not that great...lol

HAHA, if I went off the things I heard from people's mouth I'd drive myself totally crazy. I know exactly what you mean, thank God we have websites like this to clear things up.

My mother translated my marriage certificate from spanish to english. Is this okay because we have the same last name and her signature and name are on the translation... Also does the translation need to be notarized?

Thanks.

we just sent the bank statement that comes every month(i dont know if your bank does the same) It did include the amount, i'm not sure that's important though.

No they do not send out bank statements. I think I'm just gonna send what I have, I'm thinking it will be enough. Thanks.

This is exactly the same thing that we sent with our i-130 and it got approved with no RFE's. You can also add some pictures of you and your husband.

So you did not add the amount of money on the account? Yes I plan to send a couple of pictures, thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresjoint savings account
So I'm sending my I-130 soon. My husband and I have a joint savings account, and I'm using it as evidence with the petition. I made a copy of the first page of the passbook which basically has both of our names, the # of the account, where it was opened, and the date it was opened. It this enough? Is it necessary to add how much money on the account, or is that okay to leave out?

I'm sending in 5 photographs with my I-130 as evidence. These are not the passport photos uscis requires, just regular photos of my husband and I. Do I need to write anything in the back of these?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresis my cover letter missing anything

If you copy all pages, then it proves your US Citizenship AND shows evidence of your visits. If you use the copy of your birth certificate to show your citizenship, then just submit the passport pages showing the entry stamps.

The only reason I'm posting what I'm posting on this subject is that you don't need to put repetitive information to prove your citizenship in your file.

Oh ok, I see what you are saying. Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresis my cover letter missing anything

Did you copy all the pages of your passport? If so, then you don't need a copy of your birth certificate. A copy of the petitioner's birth certificate or a copy of all the passport pages are for proving US Citizenship.

I'm using the passport as evidence of my visits/stamps.

Looks good...quick question though? I noticed you did not list any attachments to the forms, so that means you were able to fit everything on the form? Just wondering because addresses in DR are like 5 lines long! LOL (Well, my husband's...)

Jo

My husband's address actually fit. The only address that did not fit was his job, but I just shortened it and put Azua, R.D. I don't think it was too important to put the whole address. Other than that everything fit, just made it too. I'm picky, and I really wanted to avoid attachments.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurestyped I-130. Can I add something else in pen?

You got your answer - this is just to let you know that it is fine to write in black ink. I know cases where G-325A of foreign spouses were either signed by USC or left blank without issue. It is the DS-230 that is very important (you will get to this after I-130 is approved).

What about the DS-230? Typed or written? Just curious for the future.

I typed mine out too, and left blank where my hubby will fill in dates and his signature.
I haven't mailed mine out yet hopefully this week....I read in other posts that it was ok.
I hope it is...

Thanks... I hope it will be okay as well. I don't see why it would not be, but sometimes the smallest things are unacceptable for uscis, nvc etc so I figured better safe than sorry.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurestyped I-130. Can I add something else in pen?
So I'm sending my I-130 in the morning, and noticed on my husband's G-325a I put the wrong year of his father's DOB. Instead of 1963, it should be 1965. Also I forgot to put an additional address my husband lived at while he was in school for a short time. Can I just wite-out the last number of his father's DOB and write it in with black ink (I TYPED THE REST), and can I just add the address in black ink as well. I won't have access to a printer, and I don't want to wait any extra time to send the paperwork in for a small thing like that. I just want to make sure uscis is not picky with this, and it will not cause problems with my petition.

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsor or Household Member for I-184?

You fill out the I-864.

Your father as a joint sponsor fills out an I-864, your mother can fill out the I-864A.

I started another thread with the basically the same question. The only difference is that my parents still claim me as a dependent, does this change anything?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother Fun I-864 Question!

You'll need evidence of US Citizenship or LPR status for each. A copy of the passport data page or copy of certified copy of birth certificate will do. For LPR, a copy of the green card.

OK. Phew. Thanks. And again, sorry for butting in the thread!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother Fun I-864 Question!

Don't get me wrong - I-864A also works fine but NVC will then require a proof of relationship between the petitioner and the joint sponsor and I have seen case where people struggled to get birth certificates of the joint-sponsor...... And I-864 is like the form that can be used in any situation without issues (of course based on experience of others at VJ).

Huh? Sorry to but in (CURIOUS), but I am going to use my mother as my joint sponsor and she will file the I-864, AND will have my father fill out I-864A to be on the safe side. Does this mean I will need each of my parents' birth certificates?

You do not need to include a copy of your spouse's passport. Also you only need one document to prove citizenship for yourself (BC or passport, but not a big deal) Other than that it looks good. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Attachment of Western Union Receipts
I am submitting a 'front loaded' I-130 within the next week. My question regards Western Union receipts. I have known my wife for 4 years, and over that time have sent her several thousand dollars. I plan to attach the Western Union receipts to my I-130 as further proof of 'ongoing relationship' and 'co-mingling of finances'. However, I have one concern:

I live with my disabled Mom, and have not worked over the last three years, as I have stayed at home to take care of her. So, I will not be filing income tax returns or assets later on. My Mom has income/assets well over the poverty guidelines, and will be my co-sponsor.

Will the fact that I have sent money while not working create some kind of a 'red flag', or will they not care (maybe the'y'll see it as a positive?) since it is only my Moms income/assets that will be counted towards sponsorship?
