PhilippinesCRBA and Passport for baby

Hey peoples,

This is my first topic so here it goes... My wife(applicant) and I(petitioner) are here in Manila because we came to do the SLEC medical exam and PLANNED on having her CR-1 visa interview. On the second day of the exam they told she had to undergo the sputum test due to a scar in her x-ray. She just finished the 3 days today and the results were negative, so know we have to wait the 8 weeks for the cultures. There's more! My wife is 7 months pregnant, with a due date of June 1st. The 8 week mark for her sputum test is May 28th. I know that her visa (assuming she gets approved) is good for 6 months after issuance. The nurse at SLEC told her that she will have to be in the states by August 20th or something like that which would mean that her visa will only be good up to 6 months from the first day of her medical exam.. if that makes any sense. So heres my real dilemma, my daughter is supposed to enter the world on June 1st, 2012. So basically I have to get my wife to her interview immediately after delivery, get her approved, THEN, my daughter needs to get a CRBA and a passport so that we can all leave together BEFORE August 20-whatever-th.. and yes i know that she there is a chance she may get a positive result on the sputum but this is all assuming that she gets a negative on the sputum and her visa gets approved. I just need info on all the stuff below. Ive read everything i can find on the embassy website and travel.state.gov website and every other website i could find. None of them could really answer my questions, this is my last resort.. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

1. Should her visa expire 6 months from the date of issuance, or, 6 months from the original medical exam date?

2. Does anyone have recent experience with the CRBA and getting a passport for a newborn baby, as far as TIMEFRAME for receiving the actual documentation from the date of the interview?

3. Is it even possible to get an NSO birth certificate within a reasonable amount of time, like 1 month or even less? (this is my main cause for concern)

4. If whats listed above doesnt seem possible, does anyone have any suggestions about anything else i might be able to do without having to reapply for my wifes visa or doing the medical exam AGAIN and having to do the sputum AGAIN.

OMG! I am in the same situation like your wife. I'm 7 months pregnant now and my culture result will be on May 15. The medical will expire by August 15. It's so stressful right!? I hope we can get an interview schedule a day after we get our medical clearance and from there lets pray hard and cross our fingers that we will receive the visa asap. My OBgyne said i can give birth as early as May 22 and as late as June 13. I won't know for sure when will i give birth so i have Plan A and Plan B.

PLAN A:
If i get my medical clearance on May 15, ill try my best to schedule my interview on May 16, if ill be able to receive the visa in a week, ill go right away to CFO and fly the next day, by then im 37 weeks pregnant. Hawaiian Airline will allow me to board til 39 weeks provided my OBGyne will give me a medical clearance that i'm fit to travel.

PLAN B:
If i give birth before i get my visa..
As early as now im preparing the requirements for CRBA. The crucial thing here is the NSO Copy of the birth certificate, I'm trying to contact all my friends working in NSO and ask for their help to expedite the copy. Once i get it, we will aply for CRBA. Lets say i give birth in June and i need to pray hard to finish the CRBA in 1 month or just before the medical expires.

Lets pray harder, we need it!

Goodluck to us!

PhilippinesHELP!!!!!

As for offering the OP info or opinions... BASIC requirement starting at USCIS, before ever reaching the embassy is - HAVING MET WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS. Not being able to get leave to go to the Phils is not a hardship nor is there a "pass" just because he is military, so they should wait until he can get granted leave and follow the rules.

:thumbs:i 101% agree to this! What's the rush? u haven't met in person yet.

PhilippinesHELP!!!!!
Before anything else, are they really sure that is "love" what they have right now? They are only communicating for 4 months and worse they didn't even meet in person yet. I sound like antagonist but let's face it, we are often fooled by our own feelings. Why do u think America has a lot of divorce cases?

You will know someone very well when u live with him in 1 roof. I just read some people posted their regrets of getting married without knowing their partners very well first. Marriage is not a game. You should think about it a million times and assess yourself if you are really ready for a long time commitment. It's not about visa or a better life. It's about your happiness and contentment once you enter a married life.

My fiance is military too, if he can't come here because of work, i go there instead. We see each other 4 x in a year. If there's a will, there's away! :bonk:

Manila is not dangerous unless your fiancée goes out at late night and talk to strangers. She will be fine. Just look for a place in a decent residential area.

magka iba ang case ng visa and crba. kahit wala pang visa ang d us citizen na parent they don't care basta na prove mo Lang na ang baby ay anak ng us citizen. kasi Nung nag crba ako sa baby ko may k1 na ko at malapit na na expire they didn't care. buti na Lang talaga umabot na makuha ko yung crba at us passport ng baby ko at naka Alis kami a day before mag expire visa ko. sobrang nakaka stress nun!

PhilippinesCRBA/Passport
Hi I want to share my experience during the application of CRBA and US Passport for my new born baby. I received them via Air21 15 days after our interview, just last Friday. I am a K1 visa holder too and my visa will expire on Aug. 10 I guess u have an idea now how stressful to me the whole process since I gave birth last May 26, 5 days after my K1 interview at USEM. I had a rough process of getting the NSO copy of the bc because Quezon City LCR doesnt give advance endorsement. To make the story short, I had an interview last July 11 for CRBA but the Filipino screener didn't allow me to push through with the process because I have an incomplete requirements so I have to set another interview date and that was July 19. I finally got my baby's NSO copy of her BC July 18 at 6 pm after I poured a lot of tears in front of the LCR and NSO officials.

When it's my turn to talk with the CO, he thanked me first for having the most organized documents among all the applicants that day. Thank you for the Filipino screener who gave me tips on how to organize it. What I did is I arranged the pictures as proof of relationship and conception in chronological order. I put tab and labeled it. Example: ( 1st tab) 1st meeting April 29. - May 2, 2011 at South Korea. It includes my passport stamps and pictures together. (2nd tab) 2nd meeting... (3rd tab ) 3rd meeting... (4th tab) Proof of conception. It includes pregnancy test result and 1st ultrasound... (5th tab) 4th meeting... (6th tab) Proof of conception. Same thing ultrasound pictures..So on and so forth. Then 1 tab for western union receipts and 1 tab for emails. The Filipino screener told me that they only need to see the passport stamps, pictures together, western union receipts and ultrasound pictures. I binded them but I didn't not use any folder just simple clip is enough, the Filipino screener advised it too.

The CO liked what I did and didn't ask many questions. He approved it immediately.

I hope this will help future CRBA applicants.

Congrats to you! God is good. Mine is due in May 28..do whisper a prayer for me that it will turn out negative as well. Good luck on the rest of your journey!

Thanks and yea ill pray for u.

Btw, if u want to stop worrying about the result i have a tip for you. Start calling them on the 7th week. if u dont have result by then, call them everyday til it reaches your 8th week. On the 8th week u will know if there is a result already and it will take only a day for them to process it.

If they say on the 8th week u have a result but they are still processing it, call the following day for sure it's negative! Posted Image

Just an update:

I called today at SLEC (4 days before their given date to call them), i talked to Jon and he said my sputum culture is negative! and he scheduled me to get my medical clearance on Monday (May 14). I called USEM to get an appointment for interview and as of today the earliest is May 21. And i'm due to give birth on May 23! I hope my baby will not come out earlier! Thank you Lord!

PhilippinesSputum Smear Result.. Negative!

I just want to share my medical experience, I also underwent to Sputum test last Feb 14,15,16, got the pulmonary evaluation Feb 21, Thank GOD it's negative, and they told me to call them April 17 for the result of my cultured sputum. I called one day earlier and the result were ready, they asked me to report on April 19, but I then I asked if I can do it on April 18 and she said yes, anyways to make the long story short, 8 weeks waiting is finally over, they set our Interview for Monday April 23, but I am still waiting for some documents from my husband so I ask them to moved it to April 27 instead hehe.

To those who are waiting for the result of their cultured sputum, just pray pray and pray harder it works. God bless!

Congrats! Sana May na para ako naman! :)

PhilippinesSputum Smear Result.. Negative!

Had my pulmonary evaluation earlier today (my sputum collection was last Monday to Wednesday) and I was also assigned in GROUP A and my smear was negative.... I am scheduled to call them on May 28 for the culture results... Let us both pray that it will be negative and can go ahead with our immunization. God bless..

Tama nga siguro ako ng assessment sa batch A and B. I was in St. Lukes last Monday and Wednesday to finish my daughter's medical, tinitingnan ko yung mga nasa evaluation, konti lang ang mga nasa Batch B. My daughter is finally done with my medical kaso kailangan pa rin akong hintayin para ma release yung clearance. Sana May na!

wala namang extra pay yun lang waste of time talaga. Yes they can do another xray in other views, like what The Medical City did when i had my xrays with them. Ewan ko ba sa St. Lukes bakit to the extreme ang kailangan nilang gawin kung may iba pa namang paraan.

PhilippinesSputum Smear Result.. Negative!

yes, what a waste of time.. I am confident na I will test negative sa smear kasi I do not have the symptoms or history of TB... My mom went through this also before going to the US. It is really a waste of time and I need to travel to Manila for like 4hours just for the sputum collection, apektado ang trabaho ko, not to mention yung pagod at gastos.

wala na. after the 3-day sputum collection, they will schedule you for the sputum smear result the following day or 3-4 days after your last collection. then another 8 weeks for the result of the culture. nakaka frustrate noh? waste of time!

Best wishes, hope you get a negative result.

Yea i just called Hawaiian Airlines, they said they will let me board up to 7 days before my due date. I will just present my OBGyne's clearance saying im fit to travel. Anyway, i will make sure that i am really fit to travel by then.

Praying for a negative result for you sis.

PhilippinesSputum Smear Result.. Negative!
Hi VJers, i just want to share my experience yesterday. I had my 3-day sputum collection last March 13,14 & 15 but i was scheduled for pulmonary evaluation just yesterday (March 19). My appointment is at 1:30PM but i arrived at 12Noon. So i went to 2nd Floor and gave my slip to the nurse and told me to wait outside for the # that she will give after collecting all the slips. Around 1:30PM, she started giving out #s. She said there will be 2 separate batches of #s, one is batch A and the other is B. I was #4 in Batch A. From then, i was wondering why there is A and B so i became nosy and watchful (i'm sure there's a reason behind it).

I noticed that the applicants in Batch A after they talked to the doctor for the sputum smear result and the nurse who gave the slip for the schedule of the sputum culture result, they were done and went home. But in Batch B, after they talked to the doctor, they were holding a folder with D.O.T. printed on that folder and went to the other room and talked to the nurse. I overheard that they need to undergo the treatment. I am not sure if all the applicants in Batch B are all positive in their sputum smear because i only overheard the 1st 2 applicants in Batch B since im # 4 in Batch A. But maybe that's the logic of giving out 2 batches of #s. A is for negative smears and B for positive smears. (this is just my own realization, you can correct me if i'm wrong)

I also asked the doctor if how many percent of the negative smears turn out to positive in culture, she said only 10% or less in 100 applicants. We can't really be sure still but lets stay positive.

Anyway, my schedule to call St. Luke's for my sputum culture result is on May 15 but the nurse said by May 10 the process is done. So i'll try to call them earlier. The doctor told me that medical will expire in 3 months starting on the day they will release it. And if it gets expired i need to start all over again and pay the same amount for the 2nd time! Since i'll give birth in June 13, i'll try my best to leave as soon as i get my visa because or else my medical will expire if i give birth here.

Praying for the best in my journey...

P.S.
I talked to k1 applicant while waiting for the result, i forgot to ask her name and her account in VJ. If it's you, please reply to this post so i can add you. I'm from the Department of Energy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2?
My friend who is the beneficiary living in Korea and processing her documents in US Embassy Seoul, received the NOA 2 last Feb. 2. Since i am a VJer and got educated here, I told my friend to make her fiance call NVC to get their Case# and they did.

NVC confirmed to them that they have their Case # but NVC didnt give it to them instead NVC insisted to wait for the US Embassy, Seoul to send them letter of instruction on what to do next.

This makes me worried, what if i am in the same situation already, if i got my NOA2, will NVC refuse to give my fiance our MNL Case#?

What is your experience regarding calling the NVC to get the case#?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Exam/Interview Schedule worries...

You and your fiancee should get married now while you are in the Philippines.

That way you will be a dependent and you could find a hospital in the Philippines that would accept TRICARE if you are not able to expedite your case in time. This will save you from having to pay for the delivery out of pocket. You might have to travel to Manila or Cebu to find a hospital that would accept TRICARE but it sure beats having to pay for the delivery on your own and you'll be in a hospital in case there are any complications.

But i cant do that right? We are processing my K1 Visa and we're almost getting our NOA2 anytime this month. If we get married here, all our effort will be useless and have to go to another process.

with our case we filed our petition during middle of september 2011 we received our noa1 sept. 27, 2011 and we got our noa2 just last year december 29, 2011. were going to have our medical this monday february 13, 2012, me and my 2 kids. hopefully it will go smoothly and our interview date is feb 28, 2012. We had our noa2 because my fiancee filed an expedite request 1st reason because i was pregnant and same as u im almost on my 7 months of pregnancy and other medical related issues then 2nd was he reason out for financial matter. U just have to tell the truth then they will ask for proof of evidence to support your request. if they find it ok then u will get approve and get ur noa2 sooner. so if ever got lucky were planning to leave the country by the end of march 2012.

Can u tell me what did ur fiance do to expedite the process? Who should we write? is it via email?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Exam/Interview Schedule worries...

First Congratulations on the new addition to be in your family. Here is my two cents...
Average wait time for NOA2 is 5 - 6 months. If there is no issues or RFE. You received your NOA1 in OCT. You may be looking at April or May. This is a estimate of average time. Some are very lucky and push through faster but the average is 5 - 6 months for NOA2.

Even if you received your NOA2. You will need to wait for USCIS to send the petition to NVC. Average is 5 - 14 days. Then you will receive your MNL#. At that point you can start the Medical for you and your daughter at SLEMC. All need is to pre-register, print out the form, MNL#.

Medical Examination for U.S. Immigrant Visa Applicants
http://www.slec.ph/u...pplicants.shtml

Then you will need to complete CFO Seminar to get you and your daughter's CFO sticker placed in your passports. You can get the CFO seminar done early. When youu are approved at USEM interview. You will need to received your passports back with visa. Then you return to CFO and get your CFO sticker.

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)
http://www.cfo.gov.p...=140&Itemid=833

Average wait time for visa and passport is 5 - 14 days. You can have the passport and visas delivered to your home or pick-up at a 2GO location.

Bring all medical exams results and x-rays for you and your daughter. This way they see that you have proof of both medical results in regards to PTB and treatments.

If your baby is born before the interview. I am assuming that the baby is your fiancee's  :innocent: . So you can choose to have the baby be a US Citizen. I am not to familiar with this process with infants. May be another VJ can fill in the details.

As far as the plane tickets. You can travel with the two children but would image that would be extremely difficult. He may have to fly there to accompany you back to the US. Start looking for deals on different airlines. May, April, June are not peak season for Philippines. So might be able to get some savings. On average the one way tickets will be $750 and up. If your daughter is under 2 yrs then you can save on one ticket and your fiancee can have her sit on his lap on the flight and the new born will be in your lap. That's $1,500 saved right there..!! But if your daughter is older than 2 yrs. She will be charges full fare for a seat.

Hawaiian Airlines Infants:
Hawaiian Airlines reserves the right to request proof of age (Example: Copy of birth certificate)for infants that are lap children & for international travel. If unable to provide proof, applicable fare will be charged. If the infant is under 2 years of age on the outbound flight and returns as a 2 year old, the applicable fare will be charged on the return flight.

Thanks for the reply. im just being optimistic regarding the timeline. Because as of now there are already Sept. 21 filers who were approved. And who knows by next week, CSC might be starting to process of the Oct. filers. Idont want to rely on the USCIS timeline because in reality that timeline is basically generic just to avoid impatient filers bugging them every now and then to follow up their applications. Normally they approve petitions ahead of time. I know this because one of my tasks in my office is to pacify energy consumer complainants.

Yes my fiance is the dad of my unborn baby, i got pregnant after 3 months of being engaged and we really planned for this because we are both ready to have a baby and he is so excited to be a first time dad! I know the CRBA process but our concern is the expenses of giving birth in the Philippines. We will save alot if we get married before my delivery because he is in the military and the base will shoulder all the expenses once im legally filed as his dependent.

My daughter on the other hand is already 9 years old so we really cant save that much in her plane fare.

i hope somebody in the same situation, done with her medical and interview, can give some insights of her experience for my future reference.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Exam/Interview Schedule worries...
I'm an Oct. 2011 K1 filer and i'm expecting to receive NOA2 any time soon. Like any other beneficiaries, i already consolidated all the requirements i need for the visa interview. I need to prepare this early because by next month i will be 7 months pregnant and it will limit my energy to prepare all the documents. I already called Hawaiian Airlines to know their restrictions for pregnant passengers. Good thing they will allow up to 7 days prior to due date of delivery provided i can show them my OB's medical clearance.

If i'll be lucky to get my NOA2 end of Feb. or beginning of March, do you think i can get an interview schedule w/in March from USEM?

And my biggest worry is, i was treated for PTB way back 1997 so definitely the scar will show when i have my xray in St. Lukes. Does it mean, i will automatically undergo a Sputum Culture and wait for 8 weeks for the result provided i can show St. Lukes all my xray plates from 1997 up to last year (because we have a mandatory annual physical exam at work, i have xray plates every year) and Doctor's Certificate showing i was treated?

Same issue for my daughter, she was treated for primary complex too, and i have her previous xray plates plus medical certificate.

I'm so worried that i will be one of the unlucky people who waited 8 weeks for the result of the sputum culture because it will only mean i will give birth in the Philippines. I know the CRBA thing but it's not practical for my fiance anymore because instead of buying only 2 plane tickets for me and my daughter, once i give birth here, my fiance will buy 3 plane tickets. And if he decided to come here for my delivery that will mean 4 "expensive" plane tickets plus expenses in my delivery! With all the expenses in the visa process, i dont think we can afford it anymore.

I hope somebody with the same experience can enlighten me and advice me what to do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOCTOBER 2011 K1 FILERS!!

Ah but were they VSC or CSC? Inquiring minds want to know...

under CSC

Hank_Amy, October 11th filers have been approved from CSC recently.

Maim, don't worry too much about it, you will get approved soon, that is how it happens sometime. I think it has something to do with the persons desk it lands on and which case is above yours.

Thank you for the inspiring words... :)
