Officially, the $@(%*#(@#$^ at the post office didn't put the sticker that proves I paid postage so it came back postage due. FedEx here I come!!!! Not to mention, since that guy is at that postal branch pretty much every day I'll be having words with him as well.

This is all so hard and frustrating as it is, w/o errors like this adding to it. I recently read in Randy Paush's (sp?) book that brick walls are put in our way to help us see what is most important to us in life. I try to hold on to that thought, plus the words of another VJ'r "these are just moments in time"......unless I'm really disgusted then I just wacko.gif

Now here's hoping that the rest of you get good news soon, our files actually make it to NVC and make it out again quickly, and we all have speedy and fruitful interviews at our respective embassies!!!

Well, for those wondering (I don't know who that might be as there are something like 50+ pages of posts I'm not up to reading right now or well, probably ever haha) all went smooth for me, with the biggest hangups being when trying to leave, more than one person said the filipino travel tax was already included in the e-ticket (which I was positive I was wrong) so that was a hassle, the guy that setup my tickets didn't use her full name so that had a fee to change it to match her passport name (only $10 but it was a pretty big hassle and a stressful start to the trip). I will say that a 24 hour trip, though still damn rough is much easier with your fiancee at your side... oh yeah, and the first flight out of the phils we were in the same seat but diff rows... and a full plane, no luck convincing anyone to trade.

Other highlights of the trip, I got a pretty bad sunburn, last friday but just about cured now. I met an american bum in the phils, he had a sob story and everything, of course in the phils I pretty much hand my cash to my woman, keeps me out of trouble haha, and the second thing is he was less than 10 miles from the US embassy, if he really needed help that's all he had to do was walk on over and I'm positive things would get taken care of...

During the interview I was allowed to go to the pre-screener interview, but not the console interview, it seems pretty clear that the policy is ONLY the beneficiary is allowed to go into that one. Also *gulp* she got lots of questions which usually implies they suspect something... one of the stand out questions is she was asked about my world of war craft characters... my fiancee knew I played but since she couldn't play with me (she didn't have enough computer access/internet access etc) so it's not something we talked too much about, certainly not going into character names and stuff like that... anyway, in the end, all was well, and she just got her first shower in america (hot water doesn't come out of the tap in the phils... except most likely in bigger hotels so that's a bit of a luxury that might make the whole transition easier hehe). Anyway, I've been back in town for 5 hours, and I have to work tomorrow, so I'm tired, just thought I'd give everyone an update. We'll be married and adjusting status soon.

ETA: King b****s! But no requests

Can I ask a realllllllllllllly stupid question? How/why did they know to even ask her about your WOW characters?

I had an OK VD except my gifts backfired completely...really badly! I posted on Thaivisa but apparently you're barred from criticizing anyone, even scamsters if they advertise on the website..giving them an endless supply of victims while being assured the moderators will delete and warn any posts even if it's a blatant scam. I'm very disappointed in thaivisa.

FOREVER FLORIST BANGKOK, THAILAND
1. I ordered a flower vase and a fruit basket
2. Confirmation showed 2 identical flower orders
3. I contacted Nittaya by phone...phone went dead
4. Immediately emailed saying "answer your phone please there's been a mistake," etc
5. Called back and left a phone message and immediately got an email response (funny how that works) claiming their "call center is closed" little shop it is, what "call center"? Her email maintained I ordered 2 identical flowers so I copied my pay pal receipt proving I ordered 1 fruit 1 flower
6. I email again, she emails back maintaining I ordered 2 identical flowers. I demand to speak to her
7. email "sorry but your order has gone out" so I ordered another fruit basket asking her to combine flowers to one so it wouldn't look stupid realizing she's going to do what she wants anyway
8. duplicate orders of DEAD...BONE DEAD FLOWERS ARRIVED (I have photos) with degrading message (no kidding), incorrect spelling of recipient's name and message was written "down" to the recipient, if you know what I mean (nothing like I ordered)
9. Receive email saying fruit cannot be delivered until the 16th (this was Valentines day, the 14th) giving me only 1 hour to cancel order. I was 7 minutes late to my computer (mind you, calling and leaving many messages since I knew she could hear them)
10. I send email, call telling of the dead flowers (which was completely ignored despite their "24 hour service"...scammed again, I think)
11. Took pictures of dead flowers and since I'm not in Thailand (and I don't tolerate this BS) and since neither PayPal or Visa tolerates this BS/childish games, either I filed a dispute (which means pay pal yanks the money back and waits for proof). yes, I've got 2 dozen certifiably DEAD flowers and a degrading message for proof (OK, to be honest, 3 out of 48 flowers were OK).
12. Once the money was pulled back pending review, Nittaya calls me a fraudster still refusing to look at the pay pal receipt showing my original order (1 flower 1 fruit). Suddenly her "call center" is opened and calls my fiancee (Valentines/Birthday party going on...all are shocked at the dead flowers, vindictive message) and she wants to take them back, rushes a driver over (I told her we were taking pics of her dead flowers and posting on the internet) the driver is also shocked...they're really dead flowers, he said! "No wonder you're not happy" got a good laugh for the other 7 people there.

I post this on thaivisa where I found these clowns, post is deleted no one tells me why so I post again and get a message telling me to contact the company if I have any problems (read 1-12 above...that's what I was doing all night for 8 hours! contacting these fools)...anyway, I'm shocked at thaivisa, pissed off at forever florist but in the end, we got to communicate better than we had and I learned sooo much had been misunderstood neither of us had a clue and ironed out major problems which turned out to be nonexistent only due to misunderstandings.

That was my Vday!

That's intense mad.gif

Great to see some good news in this thread. Everyone said that it gets a lot faster after the approval, and they were right. You had nothing to worry about. smile.gif

Just letting you guys know that I'm not going to be as active in here. I'm going to be honest, it's difficult watching everyone set up medicals, interviews, and POE dates. I've been having a lot of personal problems lately, and don't even know whether the move is going to be June or July. Either way, it's hard watching everyone fly through, knowing I'll be the last one here.

We were approved on January 2nd and I've had Packet 3 with me for almost a month, but I'm still waiting on my vaccination records and injections which I tried to request about 3 weeks ago but because of the snow in the UK, have had to keep rescheduling my appointment. I finally got one for next week, but then found out that the nurse may not have access to my records which means I'll have to make yet another appointment afterwards. I don't live in that town anymore which means travelling every time.

This means it's going to take a while to even schedule my medical, let alone my interview. I'm guessing it will be in April, and then it's another 2-3 months until POE. Bill doesn't know when he's going to visit me because he still doesn't have a job, but even if he does, it's going to be hard crying and waiting after yet another visit while everyone has already moved. I hope you understand.

This thread has been such a great help to me, I never dreamt that I could find as much support when I started this process. I'm happy for all of you that are getting your visas and setting out dates, you deserve it. I'll pop in now and then to check up on people, and of course I'll be on Facebook too.

Hi other "G":
I just wanted to let you know that while we have our NOA2 we are not rushing through the gate and could very well be putting right along with you two. We were not as prepared as everyone here with the paperwork etc and to be honest, Rob is still sitting on top of his packet 3 there in good ol Rushden himself wink.gif

He has scheduled a medical for him and his son the 20th and our atty here in Cali is sending the paperwork (my stuff) to him this week sometime. We still have not gotten the newest police reports either.

In all reality we don't expect an interview any too soon (since we've not even mailed the damn thing) and for sure if they are living here in the summer I'll consider this a job well done on our part.

We miss each other terribly and neither of us has money or time off from work for a visit but in the long run...a former VJ'r that lives near me here, now married to a Brit said to me that this will seem like a "fleeting moment" in the big picture.

Keep your chin up and message me if you get down and want to chat with another "straggler" wink.gif

PS: I'm on facebook as well...let me know if you want it. "G"

YEaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa congrats kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
BTW what were the questions they asked and how long did it take??

This is Seb here - I'll run down how my morning went.

I got to the London embassy at about 7:20 AM. There was already a queue outside, maybe 15 people were there already. I was outside for maybe 15 minutes - not long at all. I took my belt off for security, had my big folder x-rayed, and was inside by about 7:40. My ticket number was 5001 - considering that immigrant visa applicants are numbered from 5000, I'd done exceptionally well.

At about 8:20, I was called up to window 14. I showed the guy (who was English) my passport, then I was sent to the cashier, where I paid my $131 in cash. I returned to window 14, where I handed in my birth certificate, my passport photos, my police certificate, and the I-134 forms (plus all my photocopies). I also signed my two DS-156 forms that I'd mailed in January. My fingerprints were scanned, and I was sent back into the hall, to await my actual interview.

At about 9:20, I was summoned to window 16 for my interview. The guy there was American - early 20s, somewhat of a boy scout, very friendly. After I'd sworn that all the information I'd supplied is true, he asked me the following questions in no particular order:

  • "So you met in the States, right?" I explained that we met online but that she spent a year studying in the UK.
  • "And when did she leave the UK"?
  • "What made you decide that you'd live in the States rather than here?" I explained that Terri's still a student.
  • "And what's she studying"
  • "Where will you be living in the States"
  • "Who proposed?" After I said, "me", he responded, "I like that, I'm pretty traditional. How did you do it" I told him about how I put the ring inside a cheesecake my sister baked, and he laughed, wondering if I wasn't terrified she might swallow it. "And when was that?" I told him the exact date.
  • "Tell me all the countries you've lived in for longer than a year since turning 16"
  • "Have you lived in the USA before?" I explained that I was an H4 for five years, which he was very excited about.

After all that, he said I was approved and wished me the best of luck. Before leaving to pay the courier, though, I asked him about the big pile of photographs and phone bills and emails etc that I'd brought and if they're ever required - the embassy never mentioned it prior to my interview, but being cautious I brought it anyway. He said, "it depends on the interview we just had. We didn't need any extra stuff from you". I guess my sincerity was apparent with all the questions he asked - he could tell I was in it for the love!

I left at around 9:30, around 2 hours after I'd arrived. If I can offer any advice to future London interviewees, it would be:
  • arrive before 8, even if your interview letter says 9am! Getting inside by 7:40 made a huge difference. By the time I went up to Window 14 to hand in my money and documents, I could see (on the display boards) that 5007 had just joined the queue. By the time I'd left, 5007 hadn't been called yet. You want to be as far ahead in the queue as possible.
  • They have nice coffee inside. Don't worry!

Thanks very much for the kind wishes - I hope you will all enjoy trouble-free K-1 interviews! If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask.

This was reassuring.. thanks smile.gif

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anybody has any information about visiting the US before the interview date.

My fiance gave birth a month early today. The problem is my packet 3 is stuck in processing hell. We sent it out 4 weeks ago this friday and we cannot do anything about it not getting there until that day, and even then we do not know what action the embassy will take. They may just ask us to send it again.

I was wondering if it would be possible to visit just for a week or two. Until i get my interview date. Money isn't an issue i would just like to know if this is possible as i really need/wan't to be there to help out.

I don't really have anything like an apartment contract or a job contract as i am living at home and i'm unemployed at the moment. Is there anything else i can use as proof that i will be returning?

Any help would be wonderful, i really need some information.

Thank you,

Neil.

PLEASE don't take my word for it, but I always pass via the San Fran POE when visiting UK and returning home...this last time I came through (January) the immigration officer (or whatever they're called) was talking to me about the fiance' visa process we are going through and I mentioned to him that I had made the trip instead of Rob as we had been told it's likely that my SO would be turned away at this time.
He said that is the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard and that he processes them trough a LOT, after all he said, "isn't that the point of being engaged...to see each other??"

I would at least check into it, now that the wee one is around. Congratz. smile.gif G

Now that really does sound american themed... I mean maybe not so much the bruce springsteen but definitely the beer pong sounds like a typical american (college) party.

Oh come on! "Born in the U.S.A"?!? wink.gif

Speaking of, I hope you're all looking forward to the American-ness that is the superbowl tomorrow. As a Pittsburgh girl, I'm pretty stoked. offtopic45vn.gif, but we have to keep ourselves busy somehow, right?

I'm a KC Chief's girl myself...not that we've come near winning the Super Bowl in quite some time... headbonk.gif

#2- Do you guys really drink out of those amazing red cups at parties like they do in the movies? Yes, yes we do.

This is true..when my son went away to Santa Barbara University, the first thing he bought was a stack of red plastic cups.
