K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Biographical Data Form
Tell you what you can try... instead of pressing through all four sheets, fill in each sheet by hand, individually, with a separator in between so the carbon doesn't get pressed through for legibility's sake. I also noticed that you are right, there's only a single sheet on the form available on the USCIS website.

The last time I filled out a G-325A was two years ago, and back then it had four copies. I'm not entirely sure if you need four still, if they're only giving out single-sheet forms, but I'd advise you to check your I-129F and see if they actually mention you need more than one copy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Biographical Data Form
I would advise you to download a pdf of the form, fill it up on the computer (it automatically duplicates it for you, but I would double-check anyway) and then print it out before submitting. You will notice that there's a different designation for each "copy" on the pdf, so I would NOT recommend you send in four originals.

As for not having space, try filling it in by hand. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAh I just realised I'm a big idiot!
Even if you get an RFE (which I doubt you will, not over that), you can just clarify then, and I guess be more specific with future forms (which I can assure you will be required. In abundance) now that you know what to look out for. ;)

I don't think it's that much of a big deal. :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Petition, Photo Presentation
I got photographs of my husband and I during his trip to Singapore printed at a Walgreens, wrote the date, venue and occasion on the back and just put it into an unsealed envelope labeled "PHOTOS". Worked well enough for me!

Oh, and save some from a different occasion (for me, it was photographs of MY trip to the USA) to pull out as secondary ammo at the interview. At least, that's what I did. Hehe. ;)

Don't forget the fees needed when Adjusting of Status, and when applying for EAD and/or AP too. Not sure how much those are.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhoto format for I-129F
I would prefer to go with actual developed photograps, with the description written on the back (which is what I did), or like pookaphilus, have them stuck on a piece of paper with the description written below. It doesn't cost alot to print at a Walgreens or something if you have a digital copy of your photograph. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter getting the K1 visa, how long can beneficiary remain in their country?
I received my visa on November 6th 08, and it expired May 3rd 09. I think that unless you have any outstanding medical concerns and/or conditions, that time frame probably wouldn't be waived.

What we did was to have our traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony with her entire extended family before even attempting the K-1, to give us plenty of time to work with. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?

"Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?"

How should I answer that question? Of course, this form is for a K1 visa. If I put yes, will they think that someone else has applied earlier? Thanks ahead of time.

Were you engaged to someone else before, and did they file a petition for you? Or did your fiance previously try to file a petition for you? If not, put no.

If yes, they will check to see if someone else has already filed a petition for you, whether or not it was approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS POE
I don't think you'll have a problem if your POE is not where you'll be living. I don't think it even matters how many connecting flights you have either... The first city you land in from overseas in the USA is your POE. I mean, you can't really expect all flights to land everywhere from everywhere else, right? ;)

To put things in perspective, My POE was LAX but my final destination was Boise.

Hope that helped! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhy K-1 and not K-3 / Why getting married in US instead here

I think this is the first time US congress like us to have a romance...This visa would give me 90 days and it will allow me to be with teh person prior to get married and that sounds very romanic to me. Don't you think that is teh best answer anyone can give?

I have to agree with Penguin, it may sound fishy. Basically, the romance, at least according to the USCIS or DHS or whatever, is meant for your courtship, i.e. BEFORE filing anything. Other threads have said before and again that the 90-day entry visa is NOT for you to figure out if you really want to go through with the marriage or not; that should be done prior to filing.

:)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresthe date passed us by

My fiancee and I have been closely watching the historical processing times for the California Center here:

http://www.visajourn...nt/k1historical

The problem is now they are working on the 9th of June, but ours was opened on the 7th!!!! Is this bad news? Does this mean that they will probably ask us for more documentation?

Thanks!

Take a deep breath and relax, I don't think you have much (if any) cause to worry. I believe that just states that they have begun working on those that were submitted later than yours. ;)

Good luck! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa - Entered US without obtaining prior approval

I also just found out that her application for I-129F was approved on the 16th of August.. My advice to her would be to go home and attend and interview and try and make it back before her wedding..

NOA2? Things will move pretty fast then after... Not sure if it'll DEFINITELY be before her wedding in October, but if I were her, I'd take the risk. And by risk I mean going back to her home country to do the interview etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa - Entered US without obtaining prior approval

Yikes. They probably already know, then, if her baggage was looked at.

People who break the rules are the reason this process is so ridiculous for the people who want to do things the right way.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Unless well... they were in yours already, then great minds think alike.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQUESTION ABOUT NOA2
It also depends on your service center. For example, the California Service Center takes a little bit longer (depending on flow) to process K-1 and other immigrant applications, considering their geographical position. Vermont is generally quicker.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngagement Ring at U.S. Embassy Interview

But all he asked is if it would be a problem if she didn't have one, and it won't be. So.. there's no need to play games and get a fake ring and pretend it's an engagement ring.

I know it's not a requirement, as do most of the posters here, but we also understand that some people feel more comfortable at the interview that decides whether or not they get to be together if they have something tangible, something material, aside from photographs and other forms of evidence to show that they are engaged.

Also, it can work as a pretty effective barfly repellent. ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngagement Ring at U.S. Embassy Interview

The OP already said he doesn't want to give her a ring until he can give it to her in person. I don't understand why people are trying to advise him to go against his wishes and MAIL her an engagement ring. It's not a necessity at the interview.

It doesn't have to be THE engagement ring, it could be any ring. We're just playing out possibilities here.

HA HA! Great one!

The bigger the ring, the more "bona-fide" the relationship is, right?

The bigger the rock, you mean, heehee. I don't care if the ring's big enough to fit around my wrist, as long as I have a rock that other rocks can orbit around. ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngagement Ring at U.S. Embassy Interview
Funny thing; I actually just read an article that says diamond engagement rings aren't traditional, just companies like DeBeer keeping a major hold and monopolising the market for diamonds and what not, saying that it's a girl's best friend et cetera. In fact, one of my best friends was proposed to with a high-end DSLR camera with awesome Leica lens.

If you're worried, ask her to purchase a simple costume ring from a trinket shop. That should help quell any doubts of a question like that arising. I don't think they ever asked me for the appraisal price of mine. :)

Otherwise, like other posters have mentioned, it really isn't all that important. What's most important is its meaning to you. Not anyone else.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFustration! No sign of my case yet with the NVC
For those of you wanting an NVC case # you can call with your USCIS reciept # and you will be given a case number. For those of you wanting to know the status of your case with the NVC I can tell you this...

NOA1 - 4 Feb 2011
NOA2 - 27 May 2011

AOS and IV fees paid 23 Jun 2011

Mailed paperwork to NVC 2 Jul 2011

18 Jul 2011 - phone call to NVC. Paperwork received, checked and complete. Now awaiting an interview date at the US Embassy Manila.

Many times I have been given the standard answer of "20 business days to process the paperwork." Mine took about 16 business days.

Yes it is pitiful and painful. The waiting is the worst part. I have not seen my wife since 21 Jan 2011 when I returned to the US. So we text and skype and try to pass the months that way.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresco-sponsor for fiance visa
They are looking for anything that can be presented as evidence of an ongoing relationship. Pictures, cards, letters, shared finances... Here's what we did. I got my wife added to my Chase acct and took her a card with her name on it. We put both our names on a condo lease and all utility bills in her country. We save, by month, all our skype transcripts and print them out. She made a photo album of our family time together, wedding, and my airline tickets and entry stamp in my passport. We also have a shared (joint) savings acct in her country as well. She has saved every western union receipt, card, letter, and other correspondence I've sent her. So what the embassy is looking for is a collection of evidence, over time, that there is an ongoing and meaningful relationship.

Hope this helps... Good luck.

Plus do you want to give them a reason to send it back to you..shelf-it to a future date..or some other delay..Don't give them anymore idea's for delaying it...they have plenty of their own

What they all said + it doesn't take that much longer for them to forward it and then send you a NOA1. That waiting time is nothing compared to what you might have to wait to get approval. It took me maybe 5 extra business days to get my NOA1 from California than I may have gotten from Nebraska.

9 for Sept... Excellent...

I wish they would get these new people hired and trained.....
This should help the processing through the Holidays

Also isn't tomorrow a Federal Holiday ?

It's amazing how being bored at work can drive someone to play number cruncher. The little chart thing shows the VJ data for CSC (Including TSC NSC and CSC), Gary's data for CSC, and VJ data for VSC. Of course, these numbers are always somewhat skewed, specially the VJ ones, by people who stop updating, forget to update for NOA2s or leave VJ all together.

I'm not sure if it proves anything, shows any trends, or helps in any way, but... I like looking at numbers.

P.S. Gary's data is taken from his last update, with people approved in the time since added in. I also don't promise perfect, precise numbers, but it's close.

I took all the NOA2's from 8/1 till now.. comes to 41 divided by the number of total days and it come to a avg. of 50 days between NOA1 & 2
I know this doesn't mean much... but it makes me feel better..I could have my NOA2 in about 20-22 days..or sooner..or later..or maybe they'll lose it..or I get a RFE and blow 60days waiting for them to decide I need one ..waiting for it..and waiting for them to admit they got it back..

Oh well I feel like I'm on the downside of the waiting hump..(just another way to make me feel like I'm getting somewhere)

This weeks timelines are now posted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEnglish translations of foreign documents
Thankyou Callina for explaining it better :)......

Romanian and Moldavian are one and the same language. In other words, Moldavian is the Romanian language spoken in the Republic of Moldavia. As the latter was ruptured from the territory of Romania and attached to the USSR following World War II, the language itself suffered from the process of forced Russification; it now bears the results of the influence of the Russian language at the level of pronunciation and - to little extent - to that of the vocabulary. But, linguistically speaking, it is incorrect to define the language spoken by the Romanians living in the R of M as "Moldavian". It was referred to as Moldavian by the authorities of those times so that they would develop a feeling of estrangement from their true roots and get closer emotionally to the political goals of their new country.

I regard the above explanation as a mere act of justice towards the Romanian language spoken in Moldova. I surely hope the ones of Russian or Ukrainian nationality don't feel in any way offended. Normal, ordinary people have always lived in peace and harmony there. They have established ethnically-mixed families and put into practice the policy of love and understanding.

For fwaguy: Your fiancee won't have any problems with her translated documents as long as they bear the signature of a certified translator and have been notarized at a notary public's office. And a question: Do the English translations show a phrase such as "translation from Ukrainian" or "translation from Moldavian/Romanian"? If they show the former phrase, your fiancee should also have her Ukrainian translations with her at the interview to be able to prove the course of action if they request it. God bless you both!

Chris-n-VeronicaMaleMoldova2006-11-12 10:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEnglish translations of foreign documents
Not to to make this sound to simple :) But Romanian and Moldovian are so close they can understand each other with little problems.. I don't really know the direction...but I think Moldovian is just a spin off Romanian..
I'm not sure on the other language..

USCIS requires any document to be translated if the original is in a foreign language. DOSS (consulate) will generally require any document not in the native language of ones country to be translated into english.

Sorry aussiewench I do not follow you.... I know that all foreign documents need to be translated into english that is a given. I just for the life of me cannot figure out why she three stepped it....
