US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDoes anyone Know what the Romanian Embassy Wants my fiance to bring to the interview??
I see they don't ask for Tax returns on the I-134 which is good.. I was a Student until this year.. Now with my timeline I will have 2006 tax W4's by the time we get our interview.. I guess I could use those just to up the ante' abit.. But "A" and "B" on the instructions for the supporting evidence isn't a problem..

Thanks for the Web site..

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of Support Question
I think what will help alittle..is that by the time I need the I-134 I will be here for 3-4 months.. plus my Apt. comes with the job which should help show stability. And the job before this one is in the same line of work..

Until June my fiance was a part time employee and student, now he's got a new job and he's currently making 125% of the poverty guideline. Since he only started on this new job last month we're using a co-sponsor anyway for credibility.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of Support Question
I was unemployed Jan to March 17th of this year..and with two unpaid trips to Moldova equal to 1 month off work.. My W2's won't hit the 125% mark for this years tax returns.. but with my current job I'm well over the 125% mark.. Will this be ok ?? or do I need a sponser ??
I'm sure our interview date will be after the first of the year...so I'm thinking of 2006 Tax returns.. plus I was a student last year anyway(2005)...

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 affidavit of support
Yes this is what I hope for also...06 return

Ok ..But what I find weird is I can find no place on the I-134 that says you need your Tax returns.. only as stated above...
and/or
Pay Stubs
Employment letter
Bank Letter..

Nothing about Tax Returns... Is this something that comes in Packet 3 or 4 ????

But I do agree if you can have a sponser letter in the bag in case you need it.

P.S. If you started the visa journey recently, there's always the possibility that you'll be waiting for your interview early next year. You might be able to file your 2006 tax return as early as possible, since it will show you making a good income.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJust did a Calculation for the money I made this year..Under the 125%
Wouldn't the sponser fill out a I-134 also ?

I would say it depends on how strict the Consulate is with the I-134 because some want to see your last 3 years of taxes and make them all count, and some count just one year but in any case it doesn't sound like your taxes for 2005 show you are above the level. My advice would be to get a co sponsor just to be safe, but I'm sure someone else can offer you some good advice.

Good luck!

I agree!

When we filed our affadavit of support I knew that the estimated profit from the sale of our house would put us way over the required amount, but just to be safe I had my parents fill in an I-864 as co-sponsors. In the end we didn't need their affadavit at all but I'm keeping it until the visa is issued just in case. Never hurts to cover all the bases.

Well I started working March of this year after school.. So with counting everything up till the end of the year I'm about $1400 short of the $16,500 or 125% ..for 2 people But with my new Job I started the first of this month..I'm well over the 125% for next year... Will this be ok ??? or do I need a sponser ?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Appt
If I remember right....You have the right to your records.. Get your records.. Have another Doctor review them and write the letter...Everything that happened for the problem will be noted in the records..
You can even find another family Doctor...Have him request your records and then write the letter..

Now this is if they won't do it...in the first place.. but try the Administrator first..Maybe you were talking to a over worked under paid Nurse.....with an attitude..

We had the medical on Friday. It went ok, with the exception of the disclosure of his past STD of Chlamyidia. We thought they might be funny about it, so we got a certificate from the clinic he was treated at saying that he was cleared of the condition. We had to fight tooth and nail for it.

Well, that certificate is not good enough for the embassy, they want a letter stating how the diagnosis was made, what treatment he was given such as antibiotics taken, for how long, and the ultimate result. Then signed and stamped by the doctor. The medical physican does not think it will be an ultimate problem as long as we provide the proper documentation.

This is a problem because the clinic is refusing to give it to us. They said that they told us to lie on the medical history form (which they did) because there was no way anyone had access to the info, and it is our fault for telling them. We said we could not and would not lie. They said it is not thier job to write letters for people and that they are too busy. I have called them about 5 times and will be calling them again on Monday. I will be calling the hospital administrator too. I do not expect them to give it to me the same day, but I think they owe it to us to set a date and deliver it by then.

They jsut dont care wha kind of effect thier attitude and difficulty can have on someone elses whole life.

Any advise on the situation?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussiongetting Divorce papers
go to anywho.com do a name search for the number... also if you know her address you can do a reverse search to see who lives there...
You'll need her new last name... but I would also search in her old/your last name...you never knowshe might be still using it for somethings..

I can sympathize. Getting a copy of my long form birth certificate is taking 4-6 months because of Katrina.

I know in Texas if you do not have the case number for the divorce, there is a fee that they charge to do a search and find the record. Maybe Louisiana has a similar service?

Also state law in Louisiana recently changed sot hat you can get vital records are several locations throughout the state rather than just the vital records in New Orleans. I do not know if it only applies to birth certificates, but I was able to get a short form of my birth certificate certified from an office out of Lake Charles without waiting.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA short cut
I'll have to remember this.. Sounds like the bus ride from Chisanu to Romania...
Good Luck with the rest of your journey :time:

OK, so i have deleted my personal info because I don't want this post to cause me any trouble; I think I found a shortcut!

Long story short, my I-129f process has been a nightmare. Between forms getting lost in the mail and the CSC backlog it has taken me almost 10 months to receive my NA02 which came early this month. With the current lag between the CSC and the NVC I have given up all hope of bringing me sweetheart here in time to meet my family around X-mas. Total bummer!!!!!!

But now there is a glimer of hope as I think that I have found a shortcut. As we perpared all the documents that this website indicated would be asked for by the consulate in the package 3, I decided to call the consulate about the police and medical requirements. I called and was told by a woman, "Gina", working there, "Yea, sure, have your fiancee stop by and pick up the medical exam form." It sounded too easy...........

So I made the appointment with a doctor from the list that the consulate emailed and my baby purchased a bus ticket for the 11 hour long ride to the capital. I asked her brother to escort her to get the forms, as he lives in the capital. He said, " no problem."

They went to the consulate at 8am and were told, "come back at 2pm, when the guy that hands out those forms comes in." So imagine my feeling when I called them at 8:30 and was told that they had left without the forms.

I could not imagine who would start his work day at the consulate at 2pm and I was worried that the were getting the run around and might be sent away again in the afternoon, and the exam is early tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! I felt ill as I realized the my sweetie might be headed home empty handed.

Well, I called the consulate and was transfered to a gentleman(I asked for his full name and had him confirm the spelling and then read it back to him) who said that they, "can't give out any forms, until the package arrives fron the NVC, after all, these forms are U.S. government property."

I calmly explained about the appointment tomorrow and noted that my fiancee had traveled 11 hours by bus to reach the capital. I also explained that "Gina" there at the consulate had informed me the week before that the forms could simply be picked up at the customer service window.

I was kicking myself fo failing to get "Gina's" last name, and was just about to ask him to call her at extension #320. As I began to admit to him that I understood that 'the rules are the rules" he interupted me and said, "well she has come a long was and I am not supposed to do this, but........." Success! B)

As I fell all over myself thanking him he told me to have them ask for him at the front window and that he would have the form ready.

:star: OK SO HERE COMES THE SHORT CUT............ :star:

He said, :So you just want the form right? You know, usually we don't send the form out alone, it comes with the whole package(Package 3). would you like me to give here the whole package??????"

WOULD I? WOULD I? And skip three trips through their dreaded postal system? And cut a minimum of one month(yes their mail is slow) from the process? YES I WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!! B) He said, "No problem."

So after calling my fiancee an hour later to confim that she had really receive the whole package, I called back to my new best friend at the consulate and asked how we would know that they had received the notice from the NVC so that she could send in the I DS-230. He said that there was no need as he had put her name down in the ledger as having received the package. He said they would call us when the package arrived from the NVC and we could set up an appointment then. !!!!!!!!! I asked, "so getting an appointment, that will take what, a month?" His reply, "oh no, she should have the forms ready, if so we should be able to get her in within a week."

I am speechless.....

I post this for your benefit. I hope this works out for me and I hope all the rest of you recieve at least one pleasant suprise as you head for your goal.

I guess the good thing is the Job is related the the College Course I took... and I've worked for this Company before..and they will state that in my Employment Letter..

Yes I have a sister...but Her and her husband own property that he makes a living off of...and She works...and Just not sure they would be willing to supply tax records..of their net worth..income etc.., private info... She was my last bet...

Thanks

Chris-n-Veronica,

It's your current income on an annualized basis that it the significant number. However, a short time in a first job can be a negative because sustainability of the current income is also important and you have a limited track record.

By January you will have 2 more months on the job, but prudence dictates that you should keep looking for an alternate sponsor in case you are found to be unacceptable.

Yodrak

I've got a several problems...
One is for 2003-2005 I was in school.....no income
second..my 2006 income unless I get overtime... will be around 16,350.00(started working in March) plus I won't see W4's for 2006 till as late as Jan 31st.. and Veronica's interview with any luck will be in January..
My income off my pay stubbs will be about $29,000 per year
Last but not least... I have no sponser...

Any Idea's...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRomania Embassy Interview ...Requirements...
Second letter today from them before they closed:
The requirements for obtaining a fiancée visa are the same, regardless the nationality of the applicant.

You may also present your Federal Income Tax Return for 2005, if you earned an income. In your previous e-mail you stated you were a student, and we assumed you did not work.

I wrote to the Romanian Embassy what is needed at the interview..

At the time of her visa interview, your fiancée will have to present from you financial documents showing that you are able to support her in the U.S. You may send proof of your current employment, a recent bank statement, an affidavit of support, Form I-134. In adjudicating fiancée visa cases, we use the 100% of the Poverty Guidelines that is for a family of two individuals the annual income for 2005 should be $ 13,200.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

I did write them back to clarify one time... My Fiancee is from Moldova and if that would change this information...and if they didn't need tax records or transcripts...If this is so...I'll easily make it.
Mainly because of income(didn't start working until March)... and I was in school last year.. with no income..

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmployment Checks?
Doesn't your Fiancee Take your employment info with the I-134 to the interview ???? if so they would have no time to call anyone...plus the time difference..

Wonder of anybody has any idea, whether the Embassy, once they start processing
my K1, check current employment, previous employers etc.

I have been totally honest on the biographical forms, we originally sent with the I-129F, but am
concerned as to whether my current employer will be contacted.

Unfortunately, my current employers are ***holes and would very likely dismiss me
without notice if they knew my plans to leave.
Theyre a strange bunch.

Of course, if checks are necessary, then 'c'est la vie', Ill just have to
get my butt down the Jobcentre quick sharp.

Many Thanks

x Chloe

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhy do you sent Tax ecords when they aren't asked for?
Ok good points.. I have been in contact with them.. and they advise me they use the 100% level for the Romanian Embassy..

Well I'll just need to work on my Co-Sponser instead of walking this thin tight rope :) .. It's just asking someone to sponser is very hard because of all the personal info they have to include.. SSN's...Tax forms..etc..

They prove that your income is above the 125% poverty line, in the case of Non-Immigrant K visas they tend to use the evidence rules that are on the I-864 forms, due to the immigrant intent of the visa, and tax returns are required for I-864 forms.

It is also specified on forms DS-2000, or OF-167 included in packet 3 (Evidence Which May Be Presented to Meet the Public Charge Provisions of the Law)

To substantiate the information regarding income and resources the sponsor should attached two or more of the following items to the affidavit.

 • notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;
 • a statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;
 • a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened and the present balance;
 • any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time.

http://www.usembassy...faffidavit.html

Be aware I-134 is used for more than just K visas, and the others, are truly temporary visas like visitor, student, and are less demanding about financial documentation than K visas.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhy do you sent Tax ecords when they aren't asked for?
Going over the instructions of the I-134 I see no place that says you need to send tax records.. only if your self-employed..
So why do people include them ?? Is it just doing an overkill ??

I figured..I'd include the two items the pertain to me..
A. Bank Statement
B. Employment Letter

and as I bonus... I'll include the last 90 days worth of pay stubs from this job..and the last one for the job before that..because it shows year to date.. So they know how much I make per year..

So help me understand.... Why Tax Records if they aren't asked for...

PS
The Embassy only refers you back to what the I-134 calls for..

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK-1 Visa Denied!
Why fight ...why argue... It's the holidays...Find some cash..jump on a plane and meet the 2 yrs guidelines..and refile..

I requested a date extend on my fiance's interview, but they ended up putting his case on hold, and I was told that I should notify them atleast once a year to let the case be open. so after like 4 months I send the embassy an email telling them to issue my fiance an interview letter, he goes for an interview and they deny his visa. This just happened recently. The reason for the denial was that it's been more than three years since I met my fiance like three years and 4 months maybe. I filed the I-29F just before the two years were about to be over. I thought that you are suppose to apply within the two years, and I did that. The rest is on the case it could take 1 or maybe more right ? I don't get it why they denied it? They told me that I should contact them atleast once a year to leave the case open, so where did this come from ? is there such a law like this or they just made that up, just because they didn't wanted to give him a visa? please tell me.......

Check with Callina She just had her interview on the 6th and She has been very helpful to Veronica and Me...

I know that although most embassies are pretty much standardized as to the process once they receive your file from NVC, some minor differences exists as far procedures for scheduling the interview. Some embassies make available on-line the contents of package III and IV, which is an advantage in preparing for the interview and setting up the interview the way they like it.

I have not found any such information for the embassy in Bucharest. Does anyone have an insight on how this particular embassy likes it done? Do they have any particular requests or process as far as how they like to be informed that you have accomplished all of their requirements and ready to schedule the interview? I know I can wait for their hard copy of the package they send the fiancée. I just like to get a leg up in speeding things up in light of the upcoming US and Romanian holidays which will ensue embassy closure for many days.

I have managed to update the section referring to the U.S. Consulate in Bucharest. You can find it if you click the option Embassy Info at the top of visajourney.com main page. I'm thinking about adding other details in the following two weeks so I can help all those who've reached the pre-interview stage. I received a lot of support myself before and during that period and I want to do the same now. God bless!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion'Tis the season to be JOLLY!!!
Wish you luck....because you came this far...why not finish it your way ?

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.... at a time when you would think that people are slowing down for Christmas.. we are all getting approved and things are going faster than ever!!

I received and sent off Packet three yesterday and made a medical appointment. The earliest they had was Jan 8th :( I was sad because a long time ago when I was naive about this whole process, I booked tickets to return to the US on Jan 16th. But today I get a call from the medical center and they had a cancellation! And they CALLED me! Wow :) :) So I am going today for my medical and will hopefully get an interview date SOON!

Plus the Consulate in NZ have made a special note that I would like to leave the country by Jan 16th so they are going to see that when they book my interview and I may get there on time!

It is so good to hear that things are moving along for everyone else now... I know we all can't wait to be back with the love of our life and I think this new years is going to bring A LOT of happiness for a lot of people on this forum.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVaccinations.....
IN the states... I paid something Like $158 for all the shots they recommended to have before my first flight to Moldova ..Now I'm sure your shots are for another reason..but I would think the requirements would be similar.. I went to Central District Health.. Here in Idaho..

In Germany would there be certain Doctors that the embassy wants you to use ?

hey there....
i went to my doctor yesterday, to get me some vaccinations, which i need for the I-129f visa.
I fell on my butt, when i heard how expensive the shots were...about $124 for 2 of them......WTH.... :(
i wanted to get all the shots, which i'll need for the AOS, in germany too.....but if there is the possibility to get it cheaper in the states, i'd rather wait until i am there!!!
Any experiences????

Diana

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNO TAXES STATEMENT in I-134 evidence

The consulate in CDJ does not use the I-134 - they only provide a list of items that can be used to prove financial support on the OF-167.

Brenda, getting the letter notarized only proves that you (or your fiance) are the person who signed it - it doesn't give any legal validity to the document.

Since he technically is not required to present tax returns, and since you are using a co-sponsor, you shouldn't run into any big problems. You may want to email the consulate and ask them to clarify for you.

And what about 2006 taxes...you should be able to file soon after the 1st of Feb....

It's true that W2s and/or 1099s must be sent to employees by Jan. 31. But that does not mean a taxpayer HAS to file before April 15 and you cannot be required to present a 2006 tax return before April 15, 2007.

Excellent advise Kitkat1...!!

If he is not self-employed, tax information is not needed with the I-134. And even if he is self-employed, the instructions clearly state you need only to submit a copy of "the last income tax return filed".
Mariaeric, I was curious about what you put here, not needing the tax information for the I-134. Do you know that from your own experience, or did you read it some where? because, I see so many people talk about needing it, I thought it was required. I guess though it is better to have it then to not, right?
Yes from experience and I read the regs... it was not required if the consulate you are working with wants the I-134 instead of I-864. Its clearly stated on the I-134 instructions to submit... "as appropriate"... and the item dealing with tax returns is "if self employed". Otherwise you simply need an employment letter, and letter from bank, etc..

"""The interim rule clarified in 8 CFR 213a.5 that the regulations relating to the use of Forms I-864, I-864A, and I-865 do not apply to other situations where immigration or consular officers have permitted the use of Form I-134."""

And all references in the regs about tax returns refer to the I-86# series forms with exception of using I-134 and being self employed.
It is up to each different consulate.... If they ask for it in your packet 3...be ready to have it... Remember they can ask for stuff as they see fit.. I've seen them ask for a Marriage cert.(Of not every being married) at the interview and didn't ask for it in the Packet 3
You can try to quote the law to them.... and lose... wouldn't it just be easier to just have more then enough ..and remove all doubt about being approved..
I recommend if you can get a Co-Sponser...Get One..

And what about 2006 taxes...you should be able to file soon after the 1st of Feb....this is what I have to wait for...

And plus I just read how long you have waited now... Do you want to play this Law game..and have it postponed even longer.... I know what my answer would be....
You are the type that sure does spread alot of unneeded paranoia around.
Spreading parnoia ????? I'm just trying to get this person to use alittle common sense but if you perfer them to walk into the interview loaded with Law code and a piece of paper...and have a good chance at being turned away.. Go for it... What I've learned in my short life.... it's better to have your gun loaded for bear even if your only hunting Deer.. because you never know when you might walk into one...
Or to put it in another way...."Better Safe Then Sorry"

And so you recommend them to not get a Sponser ?? And do as they are doing ? I just want to clarify what you think is the right thing...to do .. Since you think I'm over -doing it "Parnoid"
