Then... Personally I would NOT risk it, otherwise you will have wasted nearly a year. If having a big weddi g with family and such is so important,I say do the wedding and file CR1 or do the k1 then come back after and do a big ceremony... There is no blanket "cannot enter with k1 pending" rule and the part about trying again will effect you k1 is total BS... Sorry that was the decision they made and unfortunately their decision at that moment from those officers stands for that trip. If you really wanted to try again I would be more forceful introducing my proof of returning, I would be determined to,show that you MUST return home, don't wait for,them to ask for proof... You should be fine to visit using VWP (but be prepared with employer letter showing why you must return just in case). But the k1 is for people who are ready to live in the USA, if your not ready, definetly don't do it... (Phillipines is a totally different issue, where 20,30, 40 year age gaps are acceptable) but other MENA and Africa consulates... Marrying someone (especially where female is older than male and either already has children or is outside of childbearing age) with a big age gap is a RED FLAG as far as immigration is concerned. It is out of the cultural norms for that part of the world therefore scrutinized more. Not to say it can't be overcome, just that is is an issue that needs to be addressed... Age might be just a number, but for immigration from some places, it is an important number... And you are saying you cannot travel to meet him so you want a waiver of meeting face to face because you have a child with a medical issue that you cannot leave. And he cannot come here because of a mental,health issue? No if any of this is wrong, please correct me. If not. Then no, a waiver would not be an avenue I would say is available to you because by saying he cannot travel for a visit because of mental,health issues, this would also possibly make him intelligible for a visa to immigrate, which would make the whole waiver issue moot. They are notorious (way different animal than Thailand) read the regional forums for Ecuador and you will see, they want proof, substance etc.... Don't listen to those that poo poo the need for,this at your consulate... Read the stories and consulate reviews! and you are very correct in being prepared! Also, good for you for making it a point of being present for the interview in Ecuador... They virtually require that the USC be there, it is expected... So e consulates are more difficult than others, and Ecuador is one of them... You are on the right track in getting prepared and don't give them a reason to doubt or deny...
