Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Naples Really Not Accepting Co-Sponsers???
You might move this to regional discussions for Italy since the question is consulate specific... What I can tell you is that 3.5 years ago when my husband interviewed there, they were REALLY strict and we had to jump through hoops for ours... They did, not want to see a co-sponsor (we wereCR/IR1 ) but you might get some more recent advice since this is always changing...

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Italians!
They were pretty picky about the co-sponsor and financial thing for us... Definetly the 125% is needed (for cr1 they accept co-sponsors... To sure for k1) one hint is the doctors office is waaaayyy out from the consulate where taxis do not pass regularly, so have the number for radio taxi or a driver to take you back to the consulate after the appointment. Also, go early to the mailbox place for pickup,of the visa as the line gets long and the are slow...

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Police Certificate in Italy?
First off... It is Italy..... NOTHING is fast! Now with that out of the way.... The forms you file can be found at http://www.giustizia.it/giustizia/ Now you can supposedly go to the closest italian consulate, but good luck with that as they are not known to be especially helpful. But it is possible to apply using these forms, paying the fees and they will mail, them. Did I mention nothing in italy is fast?

Asia: East and PacificBonafide Relationship
QUOTE (VudoMenudo @ Nov 1 2009, 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello,

Thank you for your help. I am not sure if Wachovia will allow me to create a joint bank account with Thuy while she is still living in VN. Perhaps when I visit her again in a couple of months, I can ask her if she would like to create a joint bank account with me in VN. In any case, does anybody here who filed for K-1 have any experience with using joint bank accounts as evidence of bonafide relationship? I heard the HCMC consulate is tough to deal with and may look at this type of activity as fraudulent.

Well, I am not sure about a joint account in Vietnam.... But without a SSN you cannot get a joint bank account with her in the USA.... But the consulates know this as it is part of the anti-terrorism laws post 9/11 ... But you sound like you have a good basis for evidence already so I would concentrate on the other stuff (photos, chats, visits, family affadavits, photos and trips together as well as the insurance benificerary and lease)... And you should be in good shape

They can get a credit card as a cardholder on your account... However, since 9/11 they cannot get a bank account or be added to a SU account unless they have a SSN... You can get them and ITTN, (a SSN for foreign non residents) but without that, they cannot be on an account... US govt rules

Asia: East and PacificLooking for info on buying Thai dresses
Hi,

I am a photographer and I am trying to set up for a shoot and I am interested in buying a traditional Thai formal dress. I would appreciate any help you might have on getting these for my models. I have found websites which sell the dresses for about 5000 baht and I would like to check first here to see how that price compares. They do not have to be custom, and used are even better if anyone knows of where to get one or two or a seller??? My models are size 0 and 2...

Thanks

Africa: Sub-SaharanWHAT IS BEST TO SAY AT LAGOS CONSULATE DURING INTERVIEW?
If you have red flags then you have red flags, you are better off addressing them with an abundance of proof of the legitimacy of your relationship rather than trying to invent where you met.... Is it unfair to decide your life in 10 minutes... Yes, but that is how it is.... just prepare

I agree with other posters that really, logically speaking, unless you went to a university together or something, where else would you meet a nigerian spouse/fiance other than online... Not like you "happen" to be doing some grocery shopping in Nigeria and ran into each other.... I think MOST have met on the internet.... Always tell the truth, gather your evidence (photos, chats, e-mails, plane tickets, affadavits as to the validity of your relationship and everything else) to counteract any objections or questions the CO might have and you should be fine....

Africa: Sub-SaharanTravel with 2 countries passport???
As a citizen of another country (that recognizes the right to dual cicizenship of course) it is my understanding that you have the duty and the right to enter the country which you have citizenship in (in this case Nigeria) and to inform that country that you, as a citizen have entered. There are rights and responsibilities that go with citizenship and if you are a citizen of a country you are visiting, you have to travel and enter as such...

To do otherwise would be like entering the US on a Nigerian passport. If you have a Nigerian passport you have to enter Nigeria with it... Other countries, it is your option as to which you use, that is the benefit of dual citizenship.

So no, they are not doing anything illegial. But when they return to the USA, they must use the US passport...

Of course all this is also dependent upon whether Nigeria recognizes the right to dual citizenship or to possess dual passports... I am not sure of Nigerian Law, but in Italy, if you have an Italian passport, you must show it upon entry to Italy.

Ok thank you so much. He already have the invatation letter and I just hope everything goes well.

Please, if you are really searching for info on what it takes to get a tourist visa, ask the people in the MENA forum... Lagos is a very difficult consulate and they have a high fraud rate and getting a tourist visa is more difficult than say from Brasil, Europe etc.. Since he has a business in Nigeria he would definetly be well served to prove that he MUST return to Nigeria and not stay in the US and adjust status....

I would post this in the MENA forum and see what others from Nigeria have to add...

It will be VERY important that he brings proof if a compelling reason to return to Nigeria. It is a difficult consulate, you might want to post this question in the MENA forum (Middle East, North Africa) as someone there might have better input on the difficulty of getting the tourist visa and what to bring and what they ask... Good Luck

How do you fill out the customs form because the theory is all you have is staying in the USA.

Customs forms are for items you are bringing into America... Just list things you ar bringing that require declaring (alcohol, tobacco, cash over 10k etc...)

Yes they do DCF in Nigeria. You as a dual citizen should qualify after you have been there 6 months.
Here is what the embassy says
Filing an I-130 at post (Petition for Immediate Family Member of an American citizen)

In order to file an I-130 petition for an Immediate Relative at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, the petitioner must have been in Nigeria for six consecutive months as a legal resident, and be able to document this to the consular officer at the time of filing. Petitions are accepted at 7:00 a.m. on Fridays, except for the last Friday of the month. The filing fee must be paid at the time of

thanks everyone for your support.  Its not easy,  and was so hard because he got me pregnant right after marriage,  so I stuck in there for my daughter,  hoping he would grow up and become responsible.    I don't know what else to say.  Today is our 4 year wedding anniversary.   Feeling very sad.      I am working on legal separation this week.

But part of moving on is also taking responsibility for your part in decisions... It takes TWO people to get pregnant... It is not just a case of HE got you pregnant... Pregnancy takes two people, if YOU did not want to have a child, then precautions should have been taken, therefore, it is also your responsibility to take ownership of of your decision. Sorry, but this is a sensitive subject when I hear women blaming HiM for, getting THEM pregnant. Unless it was a forced sexual encounter, then you BOTH had a part in it... Just as your tolerance to his cheating and forgiving him time and time again has put you in an terrible position... When you take ownership of decisions, you can learn and progress.. And make better ones. I am not meaning to be harsh, but you see the man for who he is now, divorce and move forward... Be strong... Learn from the mistakes you made, not from the ones he made...

Africa: Sub-SaharanThink carefully before you marry a Nigerian, I regret doing so!
An old saying... Lessons cost, good lessons cost a lot! Seems you have a lot of lessons you have learned. But you have a beautiful child(ren) and a wealth of experience and hopefully a big dose of self confidence...

Jerks can be found in every corner of the globe, and they seem to be very easy to find! Ignoring warning signs (like the black book dating thing while you were visiting ) out of fear of others saying "I told you so" should be a lesson to others NOT to ignore those types of signals... Regardless of the consequences or what others say. I think too many people (in international as well as domestic relationships) tend to get caught up in the idea of "well, I have x amount of time or x around of money invested so if I give up it will all be for nothing" but they ignore the future cost of continuing down that road. Easier and cheaper in the long run to tuck the tail, say "you were right" to all the haters and quit going down a path if you think it is wrong. Eventually you reach the end of the road... Good for you for moving on... Now don't waste any more time on him... Time for you! Move forward...

National Visa Center (Dept of State)what is the diff(co sponsor/joint sponsor)
If you and your mother live in the same household she fills out an 864a... If you live seperate or if you use someone not related to you then it is another 864 (joint sponsor).

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Sending I-864 after or along with AOS bill ?
If you check the website www.immigrantvisas.state.gov and your AOS package is invoiced, you pay it using a US account. After 2-5 days, it will go from saying "in-process" to "paid".

One the status shows "paid" you print the receipt and there is an icon at the bottom that says "print cover sheet". You print this sheet and sned it with the 864 package. NVC will not process the 864 without this cover sheet.

CaribbeanK1 Visa was approved, question about administrative review

They asked very personal questions.  Be prepared and tell the truth.  We have been together almost two years and seen each other ten trips.  They asked very private things, and also about my kids, his kids, how long have i know him, how many times we saw each other, etc.   Just tell the truth and you will be just fine.  But they try to scare you, be PREPARED! and don't be nervous.

CaribbeanK1 Visa was approved, question about administrative review

Well i don't know we had tons of evidence and we were approved because they knew we were absolutely telling the truth and not lying.  The thing is that my fiance lives in Dom Rep, but is Haitian and has Haitian papers.  I was told he would be scrutinized by a lawyer.  He has a valid visa to be in the Dom Rep so he is not violating any immigration laws.  He had gotten approved at the embassy for a visa previously, but also was denied two times, the last time he simply tried to obtain a visitor visa to come see me and they denied him.

CaribbeanK1 Visa was approved, question about administrative review

Our K1 interview was at the embassy in Santo DOmingo, DR on 6/17.  Our K1 visa was approved, but the CO was so rude and I could tell he absolutely did not want to approve us.  We were sent to the Fraud Prevention unit to be interviewed individually and of course we passed because we are a true couple, although they tried to scare us into admitting otherwise!  I feel offended and almost violated....Anyway, the CO said our visa was "provisionally approved".  Well as far as I'm concerned you are either approved or denied!  I asked him what provisionally approved meant and he said we would be given the visa barring any additional background checks etc.

Were background check not already performed at this stage???  And does anyone know what the chances are that the approval can be rescinded?  Does anyone have knowledge/experience about this?  Thanks so much in advance.  Just worried and stressed...
