Philippines	Illegal immigrant for almost 15 yrs...	Not an expert on this so I could be wrong.. but I'm not sure what he is worried about.. If he is caught wouldn't they just deport him? I was thinking the same thing... Contact the Philippine embassy, they issue a travel document and you go home... If not, immigration gets contacted, he gets picked up and sent home... Same result! Philippines	I was asked why does the Phils have a high incidence of scam. Agree or disagree?	From my years here, I am just amazed at the leniency in many Phil/Am cases... Cases that in other high fraud countries would never get approved... I just have to figure the economic value of these immigrants must outweigh the fraud. From years on cruise ships and military before that, I have great respect for the strong work ethics (and talent) of the Phillipine people and perhaps it is this hard working reputation that the US govt overlooks some, lets say, interesting couplings. Have you called the hospital there and at least checked to make sure there really is a patient by her name? Caring for the well being of a sick child is good, but not at the financial detriment to yourself or you other children... Would a long, international trip with an injured child that is semi-conscious even be a medical option? I would look into a better hospital nearby. Given it is a fiancé visa and not technically immediate family, it might be a difficult sell for am expedite (given that expedites are granted because of a hardship in the USC not the immigrant).. But you can try and file the expedite, I have seen them lately grant expedites for less... The origin of the word is Latin, but not even close to what you say as those words did not exist in Latin (you are taking a joke definition you found in the spoof of the urban dictionary ... FYI... The words origins are from the Latin word Ad (toward) and Sumere (to take) which makes Assume or "to take towards" these to assume.... (BTW, the word A$$ did not have such a meaning as it is Celtic in origin) and "scholars" NEVER said the a$$ out of u and me thing... It was a saying attributed to Benny Hill! If he committed a crime in the past that falls under the Adam Walsh Act or he is registered as a sexual offender, the Philippine govt might not have had him red flagged the past few times... Now, because of the petition, the USA govt probably notified the PHL govt that he has a crime on his record so they decided to deny him from entering your country. If you do not already know, think you really need to find out what his past crime was... There is a chance he will not be permitted again in your country and your petition be denied... I belong to a group called couchsurfing.org It is a great group of people around the world where you can connect with others and offer your "couch" to other travelers and stay with other travelers. I find it is wonderful way to meet locals wherever I go and I have hosted people from all over. Everyone has the same idea to get to know other cultures through interactions and exchanges. I have stayed with very nice and diverse people all over Europe. I have hosted people from Laos, Germany, Brasil, Portugal, Sweden, Latvia and Japan and loved the exchanges... As far as the OP, I have not met anyone through VJ personally, but I am sure it might be nice. In fact, he was provided with the link for the K-1 guides on more than one occassion and I believe he failed to read them for whatever reason. In a manner of 3 hours the OP managed to obtain njunior member status by the sheer number of his questions... When he was provided with answers he didn't like (ie: income qualifications), the OP chose to ignore those responses and posed the same question in a slightly different manner. Apparently the OP is indeed contemplating the CR-1 route, because his first post in the CR-1 forum is "how do I file CR-1"... I wonder if those folks will fill out his petition papers for him. Personally speaking, sometimes friends are the worst people to get advice from especially if they are single. my thoughts to you is to pray about your situation, and leave people out of your business. Regardless of what money you sent him or what expenses he is paying for in the future, the worst mistake starting a marriage is putting others in your business. You are petitioning for him which means you have up to 90 day when he enters USA to observe him around your family and children, if you decide then before you marry him that he is not the one, he can leave the country un- married and you can petition for him later if you decide to do so. It's people on this site that visited each other several times but that don't get along any better, and I'm sure you have dated American guys and it didn't work out as well, so follow your heart or be lost in the shadows of your friends opinions. Good luck! I think this advice and similar regarding the intent and purpose of the K1 visa is so totally wrong and off base and I have to say something.... The K1 visa is NOT a "lets hang out for 90 days and see how we like each other visa"... Something we forget is that These foreign fiancées have totally picked up their lives, said goodbye to friends and family, left jobs and spent money to com to America to MARRY us... It think it is so disrespectful to,think that if the they decide they are "really not that into getting married" or "it did not feel right" that they can just be sent back like a sweeter in the wrong color. How does that work for,the person,having to return to their country with nothing left? the USC remains at home with their family, friends and stuff? I believe it is this wrongful usage of the K1 which many times results in the USC on here having to post things like "my fiancé won't leave, am I responsible for her or "how to get her deported" or the foreign fiancée is here asking how they can stay or what to do next?! The K1 is NOT, NOT, NOT a observe him/her around my family, get to know you visa! It should instead be thought of as a "I am 100% SURE this is the love of my life and someone I want to marry (within 90 days) person!" Friends can sometimes illuminate things we might be too blinded to see (or choose to ignore) but they should not be the ONLY thing that you consider (as there will always be doubters or haters among friends/family) but the most telling is that YOU have a few questions or doubts in YOUR mind... You need to give it more time and go for another visit... I think you need to listen to your gut and slow it down... Slowing down does NOT mean you break up or end the relationship... Just take some extra time to savor the "dating" part of a relationship as marriage changes things... Enjoy the excitement and passion of these moments and getting to know each other without jumping in head first... That would be my 2 cents... What country is he from (as some embassies need to see a lot of together time for approvals) so you might be rushing into something that is going to have a difficult time to be approved. Plus, consider, you have children and you are bringing a person into their lives! I think they (your kids) deserve more than a week of your time invested for something that important. It is a major decision that should NEVER be rushed into... Plus, if you (or family friends) had any doubt of his intentions, putting a "pause" and holding off on applying should settle them... If it is true love... He will wait forever for you... It would definetly be a test for both of you to be sure you can endure not just this process, but the ups and downs you will face in the future... I say when in doubt, hold out... I perfectly understand that it is illegal here... You stated that people should "think" before they participate in an illegal activity as this will effect them in the future should they apply for residence in the USA. I am merely pointing out that many people come from places where pot is legal so for them, they are not taking part in anything illegal. Now I will take you up on that bet about legalization here in the USA (or at least it will be removed from the class A felony drugs) ... Colorado and Oregon are already the test states for how it will work. Eventually, the court system will have to hear a challenge from a Colorado resident who is charged with possession or a pot sales company fined and the whole state vs federal will,have to be addressed, where it will be removed from the feline drug list...
