Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelling with 2 year Green Card
Yes to the first paragraph.

You use the "US Citizens and Perm Residents" line.

When you talk about a "green or white customs form", I think you are referring to the I-94. Correct? This is not a Customs form, it is your entry record. You fill out neither of these, because you are a permanent resident. However, there is another white form that you must fill out, and that one really is for Customs.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravel with Conditional Permanent Residents

sometimes other countries have different entry requirements for permanent residents... just check out the website of the country you are planning to visit and find out

MarilynP,
Where did you get this information from? Normally when you travel to another country, the other country looks at your citizenship to determine how to treat you. Therefore, the green card holder's passport is the determining factor concerning how the traveler gets handled in the country being visited.

Isn't the receipt number near the upper left corner of the NOA? It should begin with 3 letters.

Your signature shows lots of dates but you don't mention the year. Also, you have not filled in your timeline, so it is tough to advise you.

What stage are you at in the process? What application did you send at the end of May?

What exactly is your concern about your daughter?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow long to get a response - and first time travelling?
Sorry, can't answer your first question.

As for the 2nd question, all you need is the green card and your passport. Absolutely no worries. Nothing else needed. My wife has done this 3 times now with her conditional green card. And, because you are a permanent resident, when you come back through passport control, very often permanent residents can use the same line as citizens. Check the signs. It can save you a lot of time if you're coming in through a busy airport!!

Best of luck,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGreen Card Renewal Question
The NOA1 extends the expiry of the 2-year green card by 12 months. If you travel outside the country while waiting for the approval of the 10-year green card, take the NOA1 with you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestion
Actually, my wife's GC expired near the beginning of the month and now she has to travel out of the country next month. We went to our local field office this morning and they gave her an I-551 stamp in her passport. That extends her greencard validity until next April. If we still don't have the 10-year greencard by then, and she needs to travel again, we'll be back at the local office for another I-551.

In your case, you only need to do something if you haven't received your application receipt notice and you need to travel abroad. In that case, set up an Infopass appointment at your local field office and go along and get your I-551. Note that the biometrics appointment letter does not count as the application receipt notice!!

We are doing great, thanks for asking. Married almost 3 years now and loving every minute of it!!

All the best,

G

ok so my greencard expires on april 12th, a few days away, i mailed my application last minute but they recieved it last thursday. D o i have to do anything if i do not recieve my yr extension before my green card expires? plus do they cash the cheque before they send out the NOA as my cheque is not cashed

Hi Chrissy,
Glad to see that you're still here!!

From our experience, the check gets cashed first, then they send out notices. In our case, they sent out the biometrics appointment letter, but we haven't received an NOA1 extending the green card for 1 year. We're trying to find out what happened to that letter, because it will be important if my wife wants/needs to travel.

Best of luck,
G

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRFE.. on i-751
QUOTE (mynlal @ Apr 21 2008, 11:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi I received a RFE on Jan 30.2008 and i sent all my paperwork on feb 15,2008( thats the usps delivery date) , when i call uscis help line i receive the message stating that i need to send the requested info. My question is how can i confirm if USCIS has received the RFE package that I sent them.

You say that you sent your paperwork on Feb 15th, and then say that Feb 15th is the USPS delivery date. Which is it? Did you send it on Feb 15th, or did you receive a delivery receipt notice indicating that USCIS received it on Feb 15th?

The normal way to know that USCIS received something is to send it certified with return receipt. It costs extra at the post office, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI751 Quick Question
Since you have filed your I-751, there is nothing more you need to do, unless you want/need to travel outside the country before your 10-year card is received.

In that case, schedule an Infopass appointment at your local field office, take your documents along, and request an I-551 stamp in your passport.

Regards,

G
