US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Question 11
Hey guys fiance had a question about the i-134 form.
Question 11 the I intend or do not intend to make specific contributions questions.
On the example form I found the person did NOT check any of the boxes and wrote on the lines below N/A (K1 VISA FOR PERMANENT RESIDENT)
Is this what Angelo should put as well and not check any of the boxes
Thanks guys

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVancouver appointment/medical...curious

Thanks you guys! (Sorry for the wrong thread)

Filled out the application, so hopefully I'll hear from them soon about the appointment. I think the confusion rests on the fact that Montreal and Vancouver have different policies, they didn't clarify on the checklist.

I know what you mean Eernez, I'm waiting on my Birth Certificate...but congrats and good luck on your interview!!

Right on!
Yea you would think that the consulates would have the same policies but they for sure don't it would make it easier!
Good luck and hope you get your interview soon

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVancouver appointment/medical...curious

Hello Everyone!

Just a couple of questions. I have my packet 3 and am working on getting all my documents together. I've checked the Vancouver consulate website for current processing times for an interview, just to get an idea. But all the processing times exclude K visas. Anyone booked an appointment recently and has an idea how long it takes to get an interview?

Also, how close to the interview does the medical have to be done? The checklist says I have to book the appointment before I can get an interview, but I read something about it having to be 3 days prior?

Any info would be helpful! Thanks

Hey there I am in the same boat for getting my checklist ready to fax off to Vancouver.
I can't answer your question about how long it takes them to schedule an interview. I have seen a couple people get them in a month after they sent in their checklist. So it is not much of a wait. I am definitely gunnin' for a June interview!
But in regards to booking your medical before you can get an interview date I am not sure where on the checklist you read that but that is not true.
SCHEDULING AN EXAMINATION: Please contact one of the designated physician’s offices listed below to schedule your
medical exam. Please state that you are an applicant for an immigrant or K visa, as the case may be, and provide the date of
your visa interview appointment
. The panel physician’s office will inform you of the fees for the exam and tests.
I have seen many people schedule their medicals on the same day of their interview! Get your interview date and see what works best for you but know that yes the medical does have to be done before the interview but it can be done the same day just earlier since the Woking clinic you are supposed to be there at 6 AM to start your medical

Hi there,
My fiance was able to print his pay stubs off at work and also he asked for copies of his w2 from his employer and he received them. Not sure if it is always that easy but I would just ask your employer and hopefully they can help you!
Good luck

The petitioner is the the only one who has to show their proof of income (tax returns). As the beneficiary you do not have to show any proof of your income or current job status. Just inform them of your employment for the past ten years and that is all that is required.

packet 3

That is the link to packet 3. This is your checklist and it ahs links to the forms you need to complete. Follow all the instructions and you will be fine.
Once again the letter you receive from the consulate just tells you to go to this link and complete all that is required.
There will be no forms in the mail

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Packet 3

Oh, so packet 3 does contain the letter with the case number? Darn... I thought there would only be a checklist :(
The thing is, my current apartment is rented and I'm moving out soon. I'm afraid the next tenant might have no idea what Packet 3 is and just discard it.

Is the case number used by the Vancouver consulate the same one issued to you by NVC? If it is, I might be able to email the Vancouver consulate with my NVC case number and tell them to mail my Packet 3 to my new address...

The "packet 3" that you will receive in the mail is ONLY a letter with your case number. The letter gives you the link that you type in on your computer that will open up the checklist online. All of the stuff you will be doing is online. The consulate does not send any forms to you.
So yes you can use the packet 3 letter for your medical exam.

Yes you can email the consulate with your case number on it (make sure to include the petitioners name and the beneficiaries name on there as well)
It is the same number the NVC gave you it starts with VAC.
So email them tell them the situation and request they change your address ASAP

Ok do you live in Vancouver or close to it? If so then you can bring your packet 3 letter to the medical if you want to get that done way before the interview. I do not live in BC so I scheduled my medical after I received my interview date.

Ok so get them to send it to the address that you are at now. Packet 3 that is sent to you from the Vancouver consulate is just a letter that gives you the link to the online checklist and forms. The checklist is all you have to go by.
Once you have finished the forms and checklist then fax it back to the consulate and they will send you your interview letter (packet 4)
This is the letter you must take to your medical and interview.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVANCOUVER CONSULATE QUESTIONS

Hello all,

I have some questions about the Vancouver BC consulate.

Thankfully, we've finally received our NOA2 and Vancouver has sent us Packet 3. I'm hoping those of you that have gone ahead of us will have some advice to share.

I am trying to coordinate my medical and interview date. I'm not in BC so I will be traveling to Vancouver for both the medical and interview. Ideally, I would like to schedule them the same day, and I understand this is possible, pending availability. I also know that you can only schedule medical exams on Wednesday and I'm not sure how likely it is to get an interview on a Wednesday. I'm wondering if trying to schedule them on the same day will significantly delay the process. I would much rather travel to Vancouver twice if that means getting the visa at a much earlier date.

For those of you that have recently scheduled your interview/medical, how far out are they scheduling them? How soon were you able to get your interview and schedule your medical? Will it take much longer to try and get them on the same Wednesday? Any thoughts?

I've scanned the timelines and tried to research it, but can't seem to get any consistent idea of what to expect.

Secondly, I am confused about when I actually receive the visa and can immigrate. I've heard the visa is ready for pick-up the same day and I've also heard that they will mail your visa and passport a few days later. When is the earliest conceivable time after your interview that you can cross the border and activate the visa? Same day? Day after? Few days later?

Thanks in advance for your help.

First congrats!
Luckily for you the Vancouver consulate is not nearly as busy as the Montreal embassy!
Many people have done this and schedueled both on the same day. To be honest I think it is better if you did the medical on Wednesday and then had the interview the next day!
This is what I did. The medical really takes awhile and then you have to wait a few hours for the results. It would make it easier on you to do this.
When I sent packet 3 to the embassy I then emailed them and they just asked what day I would like my interview. I told them a Thursday and they set it up! Take care of this as soon as you can. Once you have your interview email the clinic and tell them your interview date and input the date you want the medical (the Wednesday before) they send you a confirmation quite quickly.
As for the visa you could stay the couple days it takes for it to be made then go pick it up at the consulate or you can bring a prepaid xpress post envelope which is what I did. Bring the biggest one you can since they will be sending not just your passport with the visa in it but the envelope which you DO NOT OPEN inside of the xpress post envelope. I recieved everything a week after I believe and then once you have it you are free to use it! Just bring the visa and the DO NOT OPEN envelope with you to the airport!
Good luck and don't worry everyone who works at the embassy is great

Canadawhere in the world is my approved petition?
Hello fellow Canadians,
So I have a question. My fiance (the USC) and I have applied for the k1 and we recently received a notice that our petition was approved. This date was March 26th 2010. Now from what I have seen for almost everyone else is that the NVC received their approved petition within two days of approval!
I phoned the NVC last week on Thursday and they said that they still do not have it.
Is this normal?
Has anyone else had to deal with a bit more of a wait?
Thank ya!

I have my immunization records and all that.
I was really hoping to try and find somewhere close to get my medical done early but I doubt I will be able to.
I am so very excited!

Hoping someone on here can help me.
I just started on packet three and it said on the Vancouver website where I got the DS-230 Part 1 form to fax this to them immediately.
Now since everything else needed original signature I was kind of confused about just faxing it.
So everyone else who went through the Van embassy did you fax your DS-230 Part 1 form to them?
Thanks

Well I am sure they will fix it all up for you Bricar I wouldn't worry too too much about it!

What's odd is that Montreal has to do all visas - and are the only ones doing CR1 visas. All other consulates do the K1s etc so it sloooooows things down arrrrgh

Yea Vancouver did stop doing immigrant visas which is too bad since we only have two consulates here that handle visas!
I heard Montreal was pretty backed up too

They will be sending you packet 3 real soon! Do you have all the stuff ready to send back?

CanadaGiving more cash?
Hello Canadians!
I have a quick question I am doing my interview in Van and well I am basically done my packet 3 checklist. I did the $131 deposit in American funds at the Scotia Bank. Now my question is will I have to pay something else at the embassy? Or is that all the cash required for them?
I know I still have to get the money order for $330 for my medical. I am just curious if I need to bring more American money for the interview for additional payments
Thanks guys

My link

at the bottom of that page it shows how the documents should be arranged. So that answers your first question BUT it has not been updated in a few months so I am not sure if it has changed.
But I am going to use that as my model and go from there

Also it says NOTHING about the DS-160 confirmation page you are supposed to print out after completing the online form. So I guess we just wait to find out the answer from the consulate

Yea I read that link. UGH I really hope we don't have to. The uploading of the picture is what is confusing me. I can fill out the form no problem just that picture thing.
Hmm well from what I have read the government does not particularly care for white out. Ummm I am sure it should be fine though since they don't have the new fee on the slips.

Hey MeggyMo - Thanks for the info! Did you happen to notice on their website that it says all non-immigrant visa applications require a DS-160. It wasn't on my K1 checklist so I've asked the Consultate if I need to complete it.

Also, now that the new fee has been implemented,do you know if we need to pay that? My interview is the after the 4th, but I've already paid the $131 fee. I've sent the Consulate an email about this asking if I'll need to pay an additonal fee.

Hey not a problem. No I did not notice this. They said you needed the DS-160 on the Vancouver consulate website?
I did not complete this form as it was not on the checklist and I was told just to follow that list specifically. BUT when you find out if we need it or not I would greatly appreciate you letting me know :).

Ahhh yes the new fee. I have spoken to the consulate about this as well and sadly yes if your interview is after the fourth than you need to make the extra 219 USD deposit to the Scotia Bank. It sucks I know since we just missed the cut off but it has to be done.

You may, or may not, need a copy of the USC's birth certificate, there is a thread that discusses it here:

http://www.visajourn...ost__p__3808184

On that thread it says that you do not require it. Also I was wondering about this as well I emailed the Vancouver consulate and asked if I needed this. They told me no since they already had a copy with of that in our petition

I am going through the same thing. I have been trying to organize everything for my interview on the 17th and I wish they told us where to put everything. So what I basically did is just used the checklist as my guide. I mean when we get up to the window they will tell us what order we need it in and it is not like it is a super big rush. So I figure I would just order it like that and see what they say there :)
