Good Morning (or other appropriate salutation for whatever time zone you find yourself in when you read this!),

There is an interesting discussion going on in the RUB forum about food and favorite dishes from the Eastern European corner of the world. I'm curious what you are thinking about that part-of-our-every-day thing?

Meggy, my visits to Canada haven't revealed a lot of differences between CA and USA cuisine. Anything you're looking forward to or planning to avoid when here? (avoiding fast food is assumed)

Emma, I think I remember you are the USC and your man is UK? (Or do I have that backward?) Do you cook? What kind of cross-pond foods are you looking forward to (or avoiding)? My Sheffield buddies introduced me to many good things during my UK visits and I avoid the black sausage like the plague!

Terri, I've not been to your part of the world and other than Outback Steakhouse not sure how Aussie food differs. What treats will you bring Eric from Down Under?

Well the one thing that truly grosses me about concerning American food is that you guys have something called sausage gravy. You put it on your breakfast foods and it looks HORRIBLE! I will definitely be avoiding that. I wish you guys had poutine and donairs I will miss that quite a bit. Maybe I should open up a Canadian Restaraunt..Poutine and Maple syrup for everyone!

Kinda sorta. I could specialize in certain things from xrays to nutrition. It is basically yes like a vets aid but you do much more than it sounds and well I just think it would be a perfect fit for me :)

Thanks Meggy, I talked to someone on the UK forum and the courier company doesn't register the tracking until they have the parcel in-hand so that's why it's not showing up yet. Hopefully today or tomorrow!

What sort of job do you think you'll look for in the US, Meggy? I don't want to stay in publishing (not that Indy has any I expect) but I will need something to do or I'll go out of my mind with boredom. No idea what I want to do though.

What are you going to do when you can work, Terri? Will Diana contiue with her accounting, Caspar?

Oh ok well then everything is all good. It should be soon then for you :)
Umm as for work I am probably going to end up working where Angelo works for a little bit. He works at Verizon. And then as soon as I save up a little bit of cash I plan on going back to school for animal health technology! It is only a 2 year course not very long but I have always been interested in animals so I thought I would finally do that!

Hope that Vancouver is nice to you, Meggy.

I am waiting for my visa to arrive. I'm very impatient but they said 3 - 5 working days and this is the 5th. The online tracking system doesn't even seem to recognise my tracking number so now I'm getting stressed about that! Just when you think that the stress is over along comes some more!

Awe hun I wouldnt stress too much about that. Sometimes it takes the embassy a little longer to send stuff off if they are busy AND sometimes post offices are lame and they don't scan the package so the tracking starts on the computer (I work for a post office so I know we are dumb sometimes and forget)

Dear jelly-brained people! Don't worry, yes Caspar, Meggy is right. We have it sorted (sort of), a registry office thing within the 90 days and then a blessing ceremony (cause Yuri's more religious than me) early next year. Do not worry and don't stress about our stuff, you've got more than enough to handle for your own visa process.

Good luck, good luck. Sorry, I'm not on much at the mo cause we're staying at a hotel this week so internet only at work.

I found that as long as I was organised and had everything in the folders in and easy to find manner it was all a breeze and not too stressful. Collecting everything was the most stressful part. If you haven't already I suggest getting a file folder and using sticky notes or dividers to separate things into groups, like Financial, BC / Police Cert etc, additional evidence. That's what I did and it took away the stress and then when you get to see the CO they don't think you're useless and you can get away quickly. I saw a lot of people who took ages because they were obviously really disorganised!

And so, dear jelly-brains, you'll be fine :)

Ahh and there is Emma right on schedule to come be the mediator for us crazy people left waiting LOL
Yea I figured I had remembered right. So a blessing ceremony what is that exactly? Im sorry I am not religious what so ever. I am not sure what religion that is.:)
Yea I have this little binder/suitcase dealy and I have everything separated in the order they will ask for it and it is all put together in these little clear dividers. I am gunna look super professional walkin in there.
The one thing I am nervous about is having a pleasant CO. I really hope they are in a great mood and are super nice. I have heard fantastic things about the Vancouver consulate so fingers crossed

Thanks Ladies! I'm sure Diana is NOT one to spend crazy money on a dress. She's actually pretty conservative with money. I don't know if that is because she grew up in Ukraine and Russia where money is tight or because she has a PhD in Finance and audits other people's books and sees what kind of trouble they are in!

Terri, you have a great honeymoon! (As if you need me to tell you. :))

Emma, if you marry next year do you have to worry about your visa expiring? I think the visa is good for 6 months but can be renewed. Once in the US you only have 90 days to marry and I don't think that can be extended. Or, is a "Marriage Ceremony" different than the legal marriage which you'll do sooner? Anyway, I'm sure you already have the whole program dialed in but I just wanted to check.

I think Emma said before they are getting married right away but then after they were going to have a blessing ceremony with all their family. So they will be married within the allotted time frame given but they will be doing the blessing ceremony later on! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember 2009 Filers - CSC!

Thanks Terri and congratulations. You both look wonderful and very happy.

We have decided to delay our blessing ceremony until April next year as this will give us time to actually plan and book things and it will give my parents plenty of notice (the only dates in summer they weren't travelling for work were 2 weeks in Sept and one in Oct!) and some of my Kiwi friends should be able to attend then. We also need to save up - moving into an apartment and purchasing a car are expensive! Not to mention all of the rest of the AOS costs etc.

I hope that the AOS process goes smoothly for you. From the looks of things on the UK forum a lot of people get through without having to interview, so that's great. I hope that happens for you.

Caspar - don't worry about the dress programme, as Meggy said, most VJ girls are more interested in actually getting to be with their SO than in spending $$$ on the dress. Mine came in at just under £300 ($250) and my registry office dress was less than $100. I'm sure Diana will be nice to your bank balance!

Meggy, it sounds like you have things all planned out for your interview / medical so no stressing! You'll be fine and it isn't as scary as we think! I'm flying out on the 29th of June, so I just make it :) I still found that some flights had gone up to over £1000 though and return was cheaper than 1 way!

That sounds like a real good idea Emma! Like you said the more notice you give people the more that will actually be able to come! I wish some of my Canadian friends could make it. We have decided to have a second ceremony after we finish everything in the states and I can go back and visit. My friends were buggin me to do it so we decided we would.
That is great that you got a trip in June hun! I was planning on being there for June too but we are gunna wait a couple extra days for July 2nd so I can spend Canada day (July 1st) here :).
Thanks for the good thoughts Emma yea I have kind of calmed down about the whole thing and now I am just really looking forward to it!

Wow, congratulations Terri! Now you can relax for, oh, a day before getting your SSN, driver's license, filing your AOS, EAD... But for now, enjoy you've earned it!

Meggy - Funny, I was thumbing through the channels the other night (it's a guy thing) and came across "Say yes to the Dress!" So, now that I had a recommendation I had to look at it. Mistake! First up is this young couple with a $5k(?!) dress budget but the bride can't find anything she likes until they come across some designer dress for $10,500!!! The owner made then a 'deal' at $8,800 but the whole thing scared me so much I couldn't watch to see if they bought it and just went back to the SyFy channel and watched Stargate SG-1. Much better! I just hope Diana doesn't find that dress channel before we marry. Thank god she doesn't watch much TV!

Hahahah oh man that is hilarious! Believe me Casper that isn't even the worst. Some of them have unlimited budgets. The most I seen a girl spend was 54,000. She was such a spoiled brat too. But yea I couldn't possibly imagine spending more than 500 on a dress and even that sounds ridiculous! Some of those women lose sight of what is really important but it is a super entertaining show!
Hahahah that is just so funny though I but your jaw just dropped LOL. I don't think you will have to worry about that. I think most of us VJ girls aren't too concerned with the dress just mostly us getting there and being with our guys

Igor's list still showed 13 December people waiting NOA 2 as of today. I wonder if they got it and never updated their timeline or they dropped the application or what? Curious.

Yea that is usually the case that they just didn't update it. People sometimes forget about VJ once they get really into the process. But I hope all those people got approved and are on their way to being finished as well. Well finished for a month or so then on to AOS

Well, one down and a couple more to go! Meggy, aren't you next Wednesday? Good luck, but I know you'll be fine. I bought my tickets to Ukraine yesterday. I leave two weeks from today and the interview is the 24th. I also bought Denys & Diana's tickets for return with me on the 2nd of July so I sure hope it works out ok!

Just think, only 2 more weeks of having to eat my own cooking. That's reason enough to celebrate right there!

Nah I am in a couple weeks so next next Thursday it will be my turn to take the plunge. I have my medical the day before that so it will be a fun couple of days. M y Aunt and I are gunna tour the city on Tuesday and after my medical on Wednesday. Not a bunch of time but still we will get to see a few things! I am super excited I just want it all to go smoothly.
Ohh right on Casper ok I will be just home when you leave! I am sure everything will go just great for you guys! Man I am so happy we are almost all finally outta here. I think there is just a couple left waiting for an interview! Right on December filers pretty soon we will al be going home/bringing the loved ones home

Thanks Meggy... yeah, I was totally thinking the same thing but thought it would be wise not to ask that! She had someone with her that I assume she was training but she didn't even say to me 'this is so and so, they'll be sitting in on the interview, is that alright?'. I thought that was a bit off.

All done and tickets booked now. I can look forward to my week with Yuri and then the mad rush of 2 weeks to get everything done!

Yea probably not. Oh well you were approved so that is the main thing! Yea more than likely she was training so she was probably unsure of herself. I know it is always intimidating having someone watch you while you do a new job. She should have introduced the person to you though that is only proper but hey whatevs you got the big YES!

So when is the trip booked for? Did you make it for June?

If you would like to read my long, involved and boring review it is here:

http://www.visajourn...p?cfl=&id=77353

I had a great time in London, I always enjoy visiting. Kinda wish that I'd lived there for awhile now, but oh well. On Tuesday when i got down there I was going to a show, but by the time I'd checked the embassy out I was just going to walk down to Embankment - anyway, the heavens opened, I got soaked and ended up having to go and buy new trousers and a hoodie on Oxford street before the show! that sort of thing always happens to me - that's what I get for coming from a country where carrying an umbrella is useless so I hardly ever do.

Looking forward to everyone's good news!

I read the review! I am so glad everything went well for you. It seems like the London embassy isn't very pleasant from your wording but oh well you got your visa. What was up with her saying "I THINK I am gunna approve this"
I woulda been like hey lady ya think or ya know? LOL probably wouldnt have been the best either. But anyways congrats hun!

"Say Yes to the Dress?!" What the heck is that about. No, nevermind, I don't want to know. And besides, the last person Diana would want to choose her clothes is probably me.

Yeah, the Fahrenheit thing (and miles and pounds and inches). First let me apologize for my country of birth. The last time I checked the only countries left in the world who still not metric were us, Myanmar (Burma) and some god forsaken country in Africa. That's it!

At least you don't have a language issue. Diana and my new son Denys will also be learning English as a second language. Diana is hard at it taking intensive English classes 5 hours/day and making Denys take them too. They'll be fine. One of the posters on the RUB forum suggested putting post-it notes all over the house with the English word written on them. Not a bad idea! He also said the first thing to get is a temperature F/C conversion scale in the kitchen as none of their food was getting cooked at 200F! (93 C)

The ugly news right now is that because of the excuseless delays of my application at USCIS there are NO flights to/from Ukraine for less than $2,000 each (if there are any at all)! Multiply times 3 and it is going to cost me ~US$7,000 just to go and fetch the rest of my new family. ugh. Oh, well, I'd pay twice that to have them here for the summer!

Hahha ok Casper no more Say Yes To The Dress Talk.

Yea that is true. I can't imagine what that would be like. I tried taking Spanish in high school and well needless to say it didnt go so hot. But they do say English is the most difficult language to learn since we have so many slang uses of our words and so on. I am sure they will do great though. That post it idea sounds really good!
Wow Casper I am sorry to hear that your trip is gunna be so much. You will forget all about the price when you come home with them though!

The whole Fahrenheit thing drives my daughter nuts....so I told her if it is around 72F -- it means 20C..it helps her cope I think Being from Australia the heat doesn't bother so much here, winter will be a struggle LOL

Our play list will be a mix of songs that are special to us as well as others mixed in for general entertainment. The song I will walk down the 'aisle' as such is George Strait's I Cross My Heart. No first dance or anything like that at all...just a day planned filled with lots of love & laughter amongst those close to us.

Yea I know the whole thing is just silly! I am really glad Angelo has a converter thingy on his phone so he can tell me but one day I am just gunna have to make the change!. Oh yea right that whole it is always nice in Australia thing and you are gunna have to experience cold LOL. I am sure you will be ok. Ohio has super mild winters.

Awe that sounds really swee Terrie that is awesome!

Yea I am really not looking forward to be moving there when it is like +30...oh and that is another thing they use Fahrenheit! I am gunna have to figure out that whole thing when I get there. But yea being from Canada I enjoy the mild summers but I will be happy when I get to enjoy the mild winters in Ohio. Last winter it got to -50 where I live!!!! We beat out Russia for being the coldest place in the world! I will for sure not miss that one bit.

A play list? Oh you are hand picking the songs for your guys' whole shindig? That sounds soo sweet! I wish I could do that!
Im kind of curious what songs you got on there Terri?

Ok, with all this wedding planning talk now you've taken me ouf of my comfort zone! Hey, where did all the guy December filers go??? Funny though, I have done more thinking about the actual logistics of the wedding than my woman. Probably she is distracted by other things like, well, packing!

I'm thinking a little like you, Terri. Out on the grass at home and a reception on a new (yet to be built!) deck. I live on a bit of a hill and the grass overlooks a pond and the mountains beyond. Pretty. When asked, Diana just says she doesn't think we should spend a lot of money. Uh, ok. I said we could always take the car to 'Vegas and go through the drive-thru wedding chapel. Never even have to get out of the car. Mm, she wasn't too keen on that option either. Probably do it at home with ~50 friends and family. It'll be good.

Interview in 3 weeks and 2 days...

~Casper

Hahaha sorry about that Casper. I mean you could always jump on the boat and start watching Say Yes To The Dress! Maybe you can then give Diana some pointers on what dress to pick LOL.
I know I think you are the last male who posts on this! I still talk to Bricar. He has his interview the week after mine!!
Which kinda sucks we were hoping we would get to see each other at the consulate but good news that he has the interview date!

Terri, the wedding sounds like it would be very nice. I love the idea of the outdoor wedding and I will have my fingers crossed that Ohio brings you good weather that day.
Angelo tells me it has been crazy hot there! I am definitely not used to that.

I can see why you love that show, Meggy. I just took a look at it. I could become a bit obsessive about a show like that I think. I love Bridezilla's too because it's just so funny the way that some girls get so OTT about their weddings! Thanks for telling us about it :)

It is such a good show eh! My favorite is Randy on the show, he is the fashion coordinator he is just the best. He knows EXACTLY what would look good on any bride.
I have never seen the show Bridezilla's before we probably don't have that show in Canada. I can only imagine though. It is probably a lot like this show we have here rich bride poor bride (which I am also addicted to). Some of these women are such brats but it is even worse when it is the men who are acting insane

Ohh jeeze and your interview is tomorrow too! I am guessing you won't be on VJ so I am sending super good luck vibes to ya Emma!!
You will do great and let us know the good news as soon as you can!

Iván and are are having a family get together July 4th in Ecuador before I leave. Yearly family reunion/engagement party. I´ve met all the in-laws including some cousins and aunts and uncles. This time all will be there both sides of his family.

When we have a ceremony here it will likely be by a retired judge who is a friend of my dad´s. Here at the house or up at my dad´s wooded retirement home. Just my kids and a few friends of mine. Nature is our backdrop... Dad has one of those large canopies as he sells woodcarvings in markets and fairs. Maybe will string some patio lights up around it, and put out some fresh flowers.... I can only convince Iván of this since woodtick season is over by August.

I have a Calvin Klein dress, nude tone, floor length with slight train behind. Might take the train off.

That sounds really nice. Outdoor weddings are my favorite.
Thats good that you guys are having a little party before he leaves with his family. Thats really nice especially since you said you enjoy his family that should be a great time!
Your dress sounds gorgeous too!
I gotta admit my favorite show on TV "Say Yes To The Dress" I secretly want to go to Kleinfelds and get an over the top fabulous dress!

The flapper dress idea is cool. I actually have a 1931 evening dress. I got the pattern from Vintage Vogue years ago (glad I did now, it's out of print) and i had it made the last time I visited my parents in HK. Now we have to plan the wedding around the dates when they're not travelling with work! So far it's looking like September some time.

I bet it is gorgeous Emma! I love vintage clothing.
Oh ok well September would be nice. Fall weddings are always pretty.
Ohh the Emma countdown is down to 2 days!! Ahh I can't wait to hear about your day. I will have my fingers crossed all day for you

Yeah, I read that story. If only it was that easy for everyone :) I think of them like the monkeys in that episode of the Simpson's that Mr Burns has writing a book or something - but in that windowless room and with lots of coffee.

Definitely better to be in a room with someone than trying to convice them of a relationship using a piece of paper.

We were thinking of having the whole shebang (not that it'll really be like that, just small and nice) a couple of months after I arrive, but since neither of us really did anything towards it we're going to do the registry office thing (my kind of style) and then have a blessing ceremony (Yuri's thing) later in the summer or early autumn. That gives us time to sort things out and for anyone who can come to come. I think my Mum is more keen on the wedding part than I am, I'd be happy with the registry office and a party. At least I get to wear a pretty dress (2 in fact!).

What about you, Meggy? What are the plans? And you too, Caspar?

The Simpsons happens to be my all time favorite show and I know exactly which episode you are talking about!! That is a gooder
That sounds really nice Emma! I love simple weddings. Angelo and I plan on going to the courthouse with a few of our closest friends there and my mother and step dad. Then after that it is off to the local bowling alley/bar for a super bad #### party. I think it is much more our style just to be around great friends and have an informal kick #### time!
I do plan on getting a very snazzy dress for the occasion. I am thinking a 30's style flapper dress for the occasion!

ooooooooooh, that was one of the cute stories on Ecuador´s portal page under Embassy reviews. Unfortunately, the rest are downright damn scary! Don´t read before your interview, they will freak you out, even if they are Ecuador specific. But I will be there, no matter what.

Is anyone else spending this Memorial Day weekend (in US) completely consumed with preparations to unite with your significant other? I´m washing clothes, starting to set aside what I will pack, writing in a journal the names and numbers of the hotels my family will be staying at when not with my new in-laws, buying new shoes for a treck in the rainforest, planning outfits!!! (etc)

Hey, on the subject of in-laws, has anyone else been webcam chatting with them? I have. So neat!!! Now they call me on the phone to wish me happy birthday! My mother-in-law is worried silly about how to cook for my boys during the visit. I tell her whatever is norm, it would be good for them to experience the difference, but she frets that she wants us to be comfortable.

Oh, and Ivan gave up his apartment and resigned his job back in Sept. to come visit me, and since being turned around at POE in Sept. has been staying at his parent´s house in the spare bedroom waiting word to come and be with me. He helps them a TON because of their age and before my visit next week he decided he would even put a new coat of paint in their LR, dining room, stairs, and painted two of the bedrooms for our stay. terracotta color I understand, and a green too (although it´s bright!) but purple? As in lilac? Very sweet of him to paint our room, lilac it is. lol, think I will be picking the colors in our new house in the States. Yikes!

So much activity. My son is graduating this Wednesday, end of the school year (job) activities, and mostly preparing for this teaching fellowship down in Ecuador. Lining up visits to schools there. So much to do, it keeps me distracted from focusing only on if my packet is still at NVC or if it left (although you can bet I will call them Tuesday to find out!)

I have spoken with Angelo's mother on the phone once. She seems real nice but I know she isn't very involved with his life so I won't be seeing much of her. None of his family is. I have met one of his sisters though! He has met my family since we stayed with them the last time he came to visit. He really enjoys them and vice versa.
That is really exciting about your son graduating! I hope you hear soon that it left the NVC

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember 2009 Filers - CSC!

Hm, maybe funny but I am not nervous at all at the thought of the interview. I'd MUCH rather deal with a human face to face than send paperwork to the nameless, faceless trolls that work in a darkened room without windows in the CSC! (Well, that's how I see it anyway.)

The funniest interview story I've run across was of the man who went with his fiancee to the interview. The consulate worker asked him about the nice sweater he was wearing. He said his fiancee had knitted it. Later, in the interiew the consulate examiner asked the fiancee if it was true she knitted the sweater, the fiancee said yes, and the consulate examiner said that's my only question. You pass!

I say don't worry! You'll all do fine. And Meggy, I'll keep posting through and after the interview. There's still a wedding to plan!

Yea I guess you have a point there Casper at least then they will be able to see how much you care about the other person instead of them just looking at forms that they have read a MILLION times!
Hahaha you know whats funny I thought of them in almost the EXACT same way. I pictured them as like the OOMPALOOMPAS from Willy Wonka and every time they had to read another letter of intent they would almost snap. I really don't think I could ever do that job.

Oh I heard about that interview story too! Very cute.
Very true!!! After all of this paperwork and talking about this whole process it will be nice to plan something fun! We have it pretty much planned on what we would like to do. Do you guys have a rough idea for the wedding?

I'm only calm now because everything is booked, all the paperwork is collected and organised and I'm looking forward to my day and 1/2 in London. I'm not looking forward to the interview (waiting mainly) but from what ppl on the UK forum have said the interview is nothing to worry that much about and the questions are pretty easy and answerable. I was joking to Yuri that I'd do deep breathing oms to keep sane but they just make me laugh. Maybe if you can find out the process and sorts of questions they ask at your consulate it will make you feel better, Meggy.

Okay, keep smiling everyone. So much to do now and so little time!

Emma x

Yea I mean I know the Canadian consulates aren't difficult to deal with I guess it is more just the thought that the end result is riding on me. I think maybe I will do some deep breathing and maybe some yoga and all those other calm yourself down methods!

Yeah, took the risk. Haven't booked plane tickets yet but if I have to stay a bit longer I can afford it for a while.

Yeah, 5 days, scary! We've got a holiday w/e and I'm going to visit friends in the Channel Islands so that should keep my mind off it and then I go down to London on Tuesday - so 2 days and 2 hours at work next week :)

Ok well that's good!
Oh that is awesome gunna go and say the goodbyes there. Yea I think one of my friends planned a going away party for me here at the local crappy bar so that should be fun but I am not supposed to know about that lol.
Ohh wow that is great Emma! Jeeze you seem so clam compared to me and mine is 20 days away

Oh you took the big leap did ya! I don;t think I am going to do that until I come back from Vancouver. They are already training someone that can do my job if I am sick so I will just wait until I have my visa.
Are you getting everything else settled up? I cant believe it your interview is in 5 days! I am getting super excited for you!

Hey Meggy,
I'm going down by myself. Yuri's coming over for work but he gets here a few days after the interview (and then might have to fly from the UK to Melbourne, Australia for a week). I actually prefer it to go by myself cause he'd just be annoying that the interview or have to hang around in London while I was hanging around the embassy. I've also got some plans of things to do in London and they're not what Yuri would enjoy :) Is your aunt going to the embassy with you or will you meet her afterwards?

Oh ok well hey that sounds good if it works out better for you that way! My Aunt is just gunna go hang out in Vancouver while I get everything done. We have always been super close so while we are there and I am not busy doing visa related stuff we are gunna do some sight seeing and get a chance to hang out for the last time in awhile. It is gunna be nice. I do wish Angelo could be there but he used up all of his vacation time at work so he has to sit and wait in Ohio to get the good news text from me. HOPEFULLY!

Hey Emma,
I hear that about the nagging to get the supporting docs. I just got all the stuff from Angelo today and I have been nagging for about ohh two months now lol. I was so happy to finally have everything on me!
Hey I never asked are you going to the interview by yourself or is Yuri coming with you?

Interview in Kiev set for June 24th!!! Can it be? Is that a light at the end of this long and tortuous tunnel??? Diana is in a state of ecstatic panic. I'm just ecstatic! Now to put finishing touches on the 32 lbs of paperwork documents I'll be taking and make some airplane reservations. One round trip plus two one-ways! Giddy-up!

Uh, sorry, my manners, and congratulations to all for the progress and good news everyone else has reported here lately!

YAY!!! That is freakin fantastic you guys!
June is gunna be a damn good month I tell ya! So what is the plan when are you leaving here to go to Kiev and when are you guys coming back!?
I am so excited for you guys!!!

Also I was thinking about it today and when I am gone from the 15th to the 17th I won't be able to post my experience on here. I realize this is gunna drive me nuts since I am officially a visa journey nut! I hope we all get good news to post up here guys I am rootin' for you all!

LOL I know there are no sidewalks out where we are but in town there are....so no walking on the side of the road here

I took myself for a drive yesterday to the local Target store....thank god for GPS to get me home again LOL

I wish there were sidewalks in town! The main street that goes through the entire town is basically the highway so its always like crazy traffic! Angelo and I went for a walk one time I was there and we tried to cross the road we had to wait like 20 minutes! There aren't flippin crosswalks there either! I plan on getting my drivers as soon as I get there so I don't have to worry about the lack of sidewalks.
That is going to be my first purchase a good old GPS! The last thing I need is to end up in ghetto Youngstown!

LOL no -- I dont fancy doing another interview for a visa...AOS is the next one on the ladder for us..that one scares me for all the questions they can ask.

Life here in Ohio is great...I love the country side & can actually manage to get to the stores without getting lost  always a bonus no matter where you are lol

I didn't think you would take me up on that. Oh well worth a try LOL
Oh really what kind of questions do they ask? I kinda thought it would be just the same as at the k1 interview except asking questions about how life is now with your new husband.

It is just gorgeous in Ohio I miss it every day! Oh right on that is a plus. I am nervous about getting to Boardman and being alone when Angelo goes to work. I mean the grocery store is literally a 3 minute walk from the apartment but everything else I haven't really explored. I know they don't have sidewalks in Boardman. ####### is up with that!? So I have to try not to get run over

WOW I am so glad to see Meggy & Emma with interview dates (finally!!) I am sending warm happy wishes to you both for the days.

Caspar I am so sorry for all you have gone through -- I have sat here reading & I am totally gob smacked!! Bureaucracy at it's finest! Fingers, toes & anything else I can cross is crossed for a June interview date for you both & then a reunion here in the USA soon after :)

I apologize for not being around a great deal -- I have been busy with settling in here and getting all our last minute wedding plans done -- we marry in 16 days and I can not wait. I have been thinking over the last week that we should have gone to the courthouse for a quick ceremony & kept our big day as a celebration with everyone else. Only reason I say that is because with me still being a K1 visa holder trying to do anything such as getting my license, opening bank accounts etc has been more red tape then I wanted to deal with on a state level. So now I wait for us to marry so I can actually receive my license and open bank accounts etc..I detest being totally dependent on Eric for everything -- especially money! I am allowed to drive but knowing I have passed the tests for my license and can not get the actual thing is maddening. Anyway enough of my whinging.

I hope everyone else who is still waiting gets a speedy process from here on out!!

Much love & Hugs

Hey thanks Terri appreciate it!
I am glad you are enjoying it in Ohio. I am hoping to join you there soon! I hope you guys have a fantastic day on the wedding day and just enjoy the fact that you get to be together
Btw I would gladly switch situations with you if you don't want to deal with the license stuff and bank stuff. Wanna come back and do another visa interview? LOL

I'm sure that all will be fine with the interview Meggy! I'm stressing about having to resign from work and my coaching jobs, get packed, sell the car, visit people and try and cram all of that in before the end of June. I hope to leave here in the last week of June but still deciding if I should wait till I've got the visa 'in-hand' before resigning from work. Oh the stress. And airfares go sky high (excuse the pun) in July. I'm still mad at London, if I could've interviewed this week then everything would have been all good.

Oh I know it is just that fear in the back of my head ya know.
Oh man I know the feeling about work! Hey you are planning on leaving to the states at the same time as me!! I am planning on waiting to book the flight and quit my job until I have the visa. I have read some horror stories on VJ about people who drop everything before the interview and something goes wrong the embassy can't find their passport or they need additional documents. So I will just do all the major things like that after I get the green light and I have the passport back in my hand with the visa.
I don't want to be without a job for an extra month because something silly happened.

That's funny about the names! I agree about some of the E. European being good and some, well, more interesting. Diana is currently Manets by her ex-husband, not bad. But her maiden name is Pletmintseva. I don't even know how to pronounce it! Well, hopefully by late summer she will be "Dent." And don't worry about a girl with initials AZ. She'll just get a nickname like "Arizona!"

As to visas, first congratulations to you two! I'm still hoping for a June date too but the package is still not at the embassy yet. Diana called today. I think the story she was given about the birth certificate needing to be a new form was bogus. We should be able to work with the one we have. Fingers crossed!

Whoa that is much more of a mouthful than Mechalchuk, Diana wins that one!
It did take a few days for it to reach the embassy and yours does have a little bit more ways to go than mine did lol.
Where did she hear that about the birth certificate? That seems silly I mean who is going to basically "renew" their birth certificate?
Well might as well just look into it to be safe!
I hope June is the lucky month for all of us!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember 2009 Filers - CSC!

Thanks Meggy. I came home to good news though! An interview date - 7th of June! Yay, maybe I'll get there in July now.

Isn't it funny about E. European names. Some sound exciting and exotic and are easy to say, others are just none of those. Zubkus is Lithuanian although Yuri considers himself Russian (long boring story) and now were mixing that with 1/2 Scots-German Kiwi and 1/2 English. Gosh, we'll be one very confused family! You know, I was thinking of Adele for a girl's name, but AZ for a child's initials would just be cruel :) Lol, Yuri's initals are YVZ - I bet there's not many of them in the world.

Anyway, I feel so much less stressed now. It just down to your Diana to get an interview now Caspar! And to everyone else awaiting their interview. Keep up hope, it does pay off in the end.

Emma x

Oh that is awesome news Emma congrats! Wow June 7th that is super soon! You might beat me to the states!!

Wow that is quite the mix! Awe Adele is a sweet name. Ahh AZ isn't too too bad I don't think anyone would notice so I would definitely keep that name in the mix.
We will be an Italian, native American, Irish, and Ukrainian family! A lot in the mix there too! I had a few names picked out both boys and girls names but Angelo is really set on having very strong Italian names. Some of them sound nice (I was on a baby name website checkin them out) others are a little too much of a mouthful for me.I am glad Angelo just goes by that instead of Angelino. Hopefully we can make a nice compromise on that one lol.

I am real happy you are feeling that nice wave of relief now. Believe me it is already starting to go away for me. I am freaking out about the interview! Oh well I am sure we will all succeed and finally get to be with our loved ones
