Thanks for the replies everyone! Thanks Daruma :) She's been to the CFO in Cebu before too as a matter of fact. I thought she might want to do that too, BUT she'd rather endure a beating I think than to ride in a boat again!! LOL That girl hates boat rides!! We had to take that same trip to the embassy in Cebu and she was NOT happy!!  Neither was I really but the boat was the good part - the bus and the van about killed me with their 6" of leg room. I'm 6'3" and it was MISERABLE!!

Well Kevin, you got a point about the boat ride!! You are literally taking your life in your own hands! Anyway, I think she will be fine to whatever you both decide. There is actually no easy way through this. As long as mother nature(Period) is on her side, everything will fall into place.

Word of caution!! Ruchies CFO experience wasn't too good. She had all the documents that they wanted except 2 letters from the Hospices here that took care of my former wives that died of cancer. They had a problem with the dates that the Doctors signed the Death Certificates. I felt like I was being accused of their deaths. I was majorly pissed after all of this. Finally gave them what they wanted and then she got the CFO certificate. Just make sure you have all the required documents for CFO. Don't want anybody to go through that!!!!

PhilippinesInterview timeline
Kevin, if Merlaine is feeling overwhelmed that week with all the scheduling. She could do her CFO in Cebu now and have that done prior to her Medical and Interview. I had Ruchie take a bus to Ormoc Leyte and then take the SuperCat to Cebu to get the CFO done. It was less stress on her having this done before the Medical and Interview. The week prior to the interview, she had the Medical and stayed with cousins in Manila until her Interview. She left Manila after the interview to go back to Tacloban and waited for the Visa to be delivered.

When it was time for her to leave the P.I., she flew up to Manila and stayed with a cousin for 2 days and went to CFO there and got the sticker. There are options now for them to get the sticker at NAIA airport. This option wasn't there when we went through this process.

This is just an option for you and Merlaine. I wish you both a smooth Journey and many years of Happiness!!!

I can't help you with the POE experience, but would like to say "Your the Man" for flying out to meet her and flying back to Wichita together. I also did that with my wife Ruchie and Mathew(son). I flew to Chicago to meet their flight as it came in and we flew back to Kansas City together.

Since this was all new to her, I didn't want her feel that she was all alone in the big ole US of A.......

PhilippinesSending 1-129 Packet

I am getting the package together with the 1-129 and 1-134 support information to send to Olive. How have others sent their packets to the Philippines in the past? This thing must weight a ton with all the information. Thanks

I used the USPS to send my supporting Docs and never had any problems. You can use Fedex or UPS to make it quicker and they give you a peace of mind that the docs will reach it's final destination.

Have your fiancee print out most of your evidences(Chat logs, emails, photos & etc). This will save you money because of the added weight. As you know, these shipping companies charge alot Anyway, good luck to you both and may the rest of your journey be as painless as ours were...

PhilippinesMissing my Ivy
Michael, Been there too! Not a very easy thing to go through!! The main thing that kept me from going bonkers was to keep myself busy at home. I started to get things prepared for their arrival months before they got here. I bought things for the house that they would need and got her on my cellphone plan. She already had the cellphone when she arrived.

Hang in there!!! This will go quicker for you once you get the NOA2. It will be all downhill from there. In the meantime, treat yourself with some new clothes or etc. Before you chat, take a walk to the park or take a motorcycle ride(If you have one). PM me if you would just like to talk!!! Danny

Hey everybody, just needed to say this out loud lol, I just got a text and an email telling me that the USCIS has approved the 129F Petition!! So I guess its safe to say that its the NOA2. Now I'm wondering what to do next, Im still in shock cuz of how fast it all was for me to get it, a couple days shy of 2 months. I'm just getting worried, but anyway Im happy, and just needed to share. :D

PhilippinesGot my visa...( But i have problem)

Hi there VJ family..... I got my visa today.... but I have a little problem.... I'm afraid to open the packet which is sealed.. my passport is inside the sealed plastic together with the yellow folder... Can I tear it then tape it again to get my passport? :help: ( sorry its my first time ) =p... Its better to ask the experts... i dont want to get into trouble...

It's okay open the outer plastic to get the passport out. Just don't open the yellow envelope. If you want to leave the plastic on there after removing the passport, just cut a small slit in the plastic and remove the passport and tape back over the slit. Your choice!

Thank you all so much! We both prayed a lot and like sweet angel said, it must have paid off. You can count on a visit Danny :) My cousins live there in Blue Springs too so we'll definitely be running up that way to meet you two! I'm sure the wives would love to have a chat in Waray (I'd guess Ruchie hasn't much except on the phone). I should be talking to her in a few minutes and I'll ask where it was that she went exactly. She went to one of the hospitals there instead of one of the private doctors. I got an infection when I was there and she took me to a private doc - great guy and great treatment

I told her teamster, when we go back to meet her sister next year, I want to go meet that doctor (she's a female), gonna smile real big, shake her hand and kick her in the shin as hard as I can - "Grandmas' Boy" style

"Grandmas' Boy style???? That gave me a good laugh this morning..... Kick the Doc. in both shins Kevin.

Well, my girl did her CFO seminar yesterday. She'll just need to grab the sticker on her way outta the Phils now. Day 1 of the medical is just about over. She's sitting there now, freezing to death, waiting for her name to be called for the last (girlie part) part of the exam then today's over. Tomorrow she'll go back for D-Day  (I'm as nervous as a ####### in church)

Keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers.... Passing the Medical is the words I want to hear! Go Merlaine!

Thanks Tahoma and Danny :) I wonder if it's an optional form of testing at St. Lukes yet though? They call the shots so we're at their mercy right?

Yes sir, you are at their mecy! I still have a hunch this whole thing was a mis-diagnosis.... I don't see how the diagnosis was made that quick. Let's hope that it was!!!

@ Kevin...it is my understanding from reading about TB on previous VJ threads that the gold standard for diagnosing TB is an expensive blood test. If you haven't already done so, information on this subject is only a google away.

Here is the name of the new blood test!! ELISpot-Plus

See Danny, after I got to talk to her more, that's the part that pi$$ed me off. That doctor there did a chest x-ray, took a blood sample (finger #######) and a urine sample, then diagnosed her with PTB from looking at the chest x-ray...nothing else. She was started on the TB meds as well. Merlaine's dad got sick a while back and went to get checked. He was told it was TB and said BS! He went to another Dr. and sure enuff, the spot on his lung was pneumonia. I'm actually anxious for her to get to St. Lukes now and so's she. If it is TB then we're prepared and we'll do whatever it takes to get her healthy and happy again. If not...well Posted Image Posted Image hahha

To her knowledge, she's never been exposed. No family members have EVER had it and no one in her barangay. Sure it's possible, but she doesn't even know of a case there.

The only symptoms she has are fever and a dry cough basically - pretty vague to hang my hat on Posted Image Posted Image

Let us all know when she does the medical.... As I said earlier, we're all pulling for you both!!Posted Image

I really want to thank all of you, not only for all the help and support you've given me through all this visa #######, but for chiming in on this thread. When I talked to Merlaine this morning (there) I told her to come read this thread and she felt tons better :) Now that the shock's worn off things look more managable. We're both really hoping for a misdiagnosis (happened to her father) and that she has the infection that I thought she did originally. If not, then we're prepared to go distance with it  She'll be flying to Manila on the 3rd and we'll go from there!!

We're pulling for you two!!! Kevin, did they do a chest x-ray at the doctors? Have they done the TB skin test( Mantoux test)? Most PTB patients have cavities(Tuberculous cavities) on their lungs. Some have Erythema nodosum is skin condition sometimes seen in tuberculosis when there are spots on the shins, which are painful and red and disappear within a few weeks.

I was just wondering what they did to diagnose the PTB. I would go ahead and do the Medical and see what happens after that. Doctors are wrong everyday!

My thoughts and prayers are with you both!

Man, I really am sorry to hear this Kevin. Hopefully this was a misdiagnosis. It could be possible that she has pneumonia. As others have suggested, I would still let her do the Medical. If rejected, they will plan the course of treatment. I'll keep you both in my prayers!!!

Philippinesflying to US

Does she need CFO if just flying to visit? Just curious....

I am not really sure, but since her flight is originating from the Philippines then it would be best that she checked with CFO to see if she needs the counseling and the stamp... I would hate to see her try to board her flight then they reject her because of her not having the stamp.....
