Now that the reality is here I juat wanted to (hopefully honestly) hear from some of you out there.---IN ALL HONESTY!!!!

What has it been like for you here in the USA?If someone asking me how I like living here I always say IT'S OKAY might be yes or no...my husband know from the start the reason why I left my family in the philippines is only because of him.

For those of you that have been here for about a year now, is everything the same for you? Is your love still as strong? YES, we encountered a lot of problem for the past few years and we are married for almost a year now BUT i love him everyday especially now that we have little angel...

What if any problems have you had in your relationship and how have you overcome them?I am quiet when I felt something wrong BUT thanks GOD because my husband is always there for me to think and guess what is wrong But lately I realized that nothing will happen if I will be like that forever.

What do you miss back home?FAMILY FRIENDS AND MY COUNTRY

How long after you have been here did you wait until you returned back home to visit? Was it just as hard to leave the second time to come back to the USA?

What did you think life would be like here in the USA before you came here and now that you are here what do you think? What would you tell someone life is like here?I knew from the start what kind of life here and the way of living but my husband is US citizen so no choice need to leave my country

Do you find our foods to be the same or totally different? totally different and I dont think that you will find anywhere in the philippines that almost everyday the food is DING like here

Has any of his/her friends offended you in anyway and how did you handle it?
it never happen
Have you had any racial issues?Oh I remember one time...someone told me that I am not fuc---ng american then as what I said I am glad that I am not if I will be like them NO THANKS!!!!

Is your husband/wife everything you had hoped for? Has anything changed?I Love the whole him so i never hope

What have you enjoyed the most about being here in the USA? What have you not enjoyed?as long as my family here is complete that most matter to me

I would say F-ck what the travel agent said lol hes probably some old fart who got divorced 3 times and smokes and drinks way to much and is very uhappy in his life so he doesnt want to see anyone else happy either lol many american are like that to if there not happy they dont like to see other happy:-)

And he probably is a one legged cross dresser too...... Damn Travel Agent! devil.gif devil.gif

PhilippinesWhat has your adjustment to life in the USA been like?
I have to speak for Ruchie because she is not home...

In all Honesty! The first year will be rough, but that is in all relationships. Not just American/Filipino....

I think Homesickness would be the most difficult problem she will face... You will have to really be supportive and understanding for her. You have to remember that she left her family thousands of miles away and now she is in this strange country.

I remember one of the first things that Ruchie noticed about Americans was How Blunt and Outspoken we are...... I told her not to take things personal or be too sensitive ...

You will have your ups as well as your downs, but with hardwork and understanding you will make the transition alot easier.

I wouldn't let what the travel agent get to you. Don't let anyone put doubts in your head. It's only going to give you negative thoughts of your Fiancee or wife.

I wish you both Luck, but remember "Give her the benefit of the doubt".... good.gif

Hey all,

I'm a little bit nervous because I told my fiancee to get a phone card in Tokyo so that she could call me to let me know that she's alright. Well, the plane is boarding right now and I still didn't hear from her.

I was just wondering, did anybody else make an attempt to call their petitioner while in Tokyo or a different non-US airport? Maybe it's more difficult to get a phone card than I realize. She had about 100 minutes in-between her flights. That should be plenty of time right?

Sorry if I'm being a whiner, I just want to know that she's ok, lol

Thanks in advance!
Brett

We have a store here (CATO) for petit and misses and most of my clothes and shoes where bought there. $3.00 a pair for shoes? Where else can you go? Oh, we also have the store called 1/2 of 1/2 (Name Brand Clothing) that sells clothes (with little defects that are unnoticeable) from malls like Dillard, Macy, etc... $4.00 for a nice pair of Daisy Fuentes dress pants? What a good deal! I'm not a shop-a-holic but my husband likes to go to stores and get stuffs for me. whistling.gif

Yeah, it's like ukay-ukay (but they got almost everything from appliances, to books, etc.) but all items are sort out and well-organized and you won't have a hard time finding what you wanted. I like going to secondhand stores. That way I won't feel guilty spending David's money. whistling.gif

Check it out at: www.cato.com. Here in our area and neighboring cities, whenever there's Wal-Mart, there's CATO (I think Wal-Mart management owns them). They have really nice clothes especially made for petit and misses. I bought most of my shoes and 3/4 of my clothes in my wardrobe there. Trademarked and Copyrighted Articles
CBP enforces laws relating to the protection of trademarks and copyrights. Articles that infringe a federally registered trademark or copyright or copyright protected by the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works are subject to detention and/or seizure. Infringing articles may consist of articles that use a protected right without the authorization of the trademark or copyright owner or articles that copy or simulate a protected right.

Articles bearing marks that are counterfeit or inappropriately using a federally registered trademark are subject to seizure and forfeiture. The importation of articles intended for sale or public distribution bearing counterfeit marks may subject an individual to a civil fine if the registered trademark has also been recorded with CBP. Articles bearing marks that are confusingly similar to a CBP recorded registered trademark , and restricted gray market articles (goods bearing genuine marks not intended for U.S. importation for which CBP granted gray market protection) are subject to detention and seizure.

However, travelers arriving in the United States may be permitted an exemption and allowed to import one article of each type, which must accompany the person, bearing a counterfeit, confusingly similar or restricted gray market trademark, provided that the article is for personal use and is not for sale.

This exemption may be granted not more than once every 30 days. The arriving passenger may retain one article of each type accompanying the person. For example, an arriving person who has three purses, whether each bears a different infringing trademark, or whether all three bear the same infringing trademark, is permitted only one purse. If the article imported under the personal exemption provision is sold within one year after the date of importation, the article or its value is subject to forfeiture.

In regard to copyright infringement, articles that are determined by CBP to be clearly piratical of a protected copyright, i.e., unauthorized articles that are substantially similar to a material protected by a copyright, are subject to seizure. A personal use exemption for articles, similar to that described above also applies to copyrighted articles for the personal, non-commercial use of the importer and are not for sale or distribution.

You may bring back genuine trademarked and copyrighted articles (subject to duties). Products subject to copyright protection most commonly imported include software on CD-ROMs, sound recordings, toys, stuffed animals, clothing with cartoon characters, videotapes, DVDs, music CDs, and books. Products subject to trademark protection most commonly imported include handbags and accessories, and clothing.

I'd say it depends. If you're going to a large airport such as Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas etc., your line is definitely going to be longer. If your POE is a smaller airport such as Houston, Minneapolis, Detroit, etc., your line will be shorter.

I always say better safe than sorry. Make sure you have at least 3-4 hours and bring plenty of Sudoku books wink.gif

EDIT: (for some reason, it won't let me edit my original message, UGH!) Anyways...
What I'm planning to do is fly my fiancee either to Minneapolis or Chicago which are the nearest (main) POEs in the area where I will be. When she gets here, I'll be about 80 miles north of Kansas City (I live in San Antonio except during the summer, I live in northwest Missouri) and will drive to pick her up at the POE so that she will not have to deal with other problems at the airport. I also figure that she will enjoy the scenery, even if it's another 5-6 hours drive smile.gif

Where are you at? Maryville? That would be a nice drive to Minneapolis. It would give your Fiancee a chance to see the Heartland.... good.gif
