Hi Vjs..

thank you so much for the prayers.. i really had a nice flight last nigh.. im usually scared of flying.. but having the 13 hour-flight, i got used o the idea... it was actually a smooth flight.. Kudos to the Captain.. GreAt job.. kicking.gif

.. Here's what happened last night at the POE:

we went first to the immigration, it was along line actually,,,the officer in the immigration was i think an indian national,, but she was nice.. she asked me where and when did my fiance and i met...also how long do we know each other.. got my finger scanned and my picture taken..then i get to have the I-194 attached in my passport.. (it expires on November 06, 2008) then i have to wait for like an hour for my baggage to be in the carousel.. i was able to carry them in and out of the cart (its funny coz they are really heavy) mad.gif

then i get to go the customs, i was asked to get to LANE A.. to have my baggage checked, when it was done, i asked one of the guys in there where is next, he said exit.. so i did fell in line for the exit, when the officer checked out my paper.. he said i have to got o lane A,, i said i already did.. he said you are lying... hold on a second??? im lying???? i told him i wasnt lying why would i lie? then i get to the exit of LANE A and told the guy he should put a stamped on it so i would be tagged as a liar..he apologized and did the stamping and didnt checked my baggage anymore im surprise (what if i had other peoples baggage?) hmmm

Then when i came out of LAX after 2 hours, im scared that MIke is not going to be there, so i asked one of the police in there of a ohone booth so i can make a call to my fiance.. but before i got to the booth, mike is coming towards me holding a bouquet of flowers, ballons, and a teddybear with a little bag and some chocolates in there.. (that was sweet of him) i think after that long hauled flight illbe exhausted, but when i saw mike with his new clothes looking hansdome as ever, i cried of relief.. (he told me he got scared that i was about to call him you know and say that i backed out of the wedding and not call me anymore,,) well it was all worth it (so far)

we grab a bite a very quick one and went to his parents house, finally meet his dad.. and find a gift waiting for me.. its a basket of spa things from his aunt.. that was nice of her to do so.. i dont know her yet, but i will meet her tomorrow.. its my FIL-to be's birthday.

by the way just a little update: i got my wedding dress today, with the accessories.. (its gorgeous) i think it was made for me.. heheheheh the MIL-to be paid for it.. thank Goodness... driving around LA is weird.. nothing like the PI, i nmea being here is weird.. it felt weird.. not my turf you know but i hope i van get used to it...

Hanny said i shoud get an SSN before i get married so i can have a job soon (anyone have done this?) thank you so much!

Until next udates guys,, have a good one..

Ruchie applied for her SSN 2 weeks after she arrived here. You need to give them time to put you into their system. She got the SSN in her maiden name and changed it after we got married. She took the Marriage License to the SSA office to show them the name change and they issued her a new one in her married name. It arrived about 7 to 10 days later... You will need to file your AOS, so you can get your EAD to work. It's best to wait to go to work when you have your EAD in hand.....

Ok me and the little lady are having this on going thing about the trip here. Now I have flown to the phils 3 times to see her (the love of my life who I care for deeply and better not be embarrassed by me posting this). She is a little afraid of the flight, even though she has flown in a plane before but I think Manila to Cebu isnt quite the experience one might need for the trip! Anyway she wants me to fly all the way there again to fly with her back. Now I know this would be a nice thing to do and believe me if I had a money tree I would go outside and shake it and be on the first flight there! But well anyway I was just wondering is the flight to the US really that bad for filipinas I mean I have arrived in to Detroit Minneapolis and New York before from there and it really didnt seem to be that bad, same annoying lines and people moving slow either way. Its not a language issue because my fiancees english is amazing!!!! (she makes me say that) She is just more intimidated by the whole thing. My advice to her was just find some other ladies holding the St Lukes X-rays and make friends. Is that good advice really?

I went to see ShaSha 3 times last year so I know how you feel. When her visa was approved I had just been there 2 months before so I didnt go again to fly back with her. I did go to LA to be with her when she arrived in the United States and we stayed in California for 3 days to vist Disneyland with the money saved from me not having to pay for another ticket. Ask her if she would like to see Disneyland, it worked for me. laughing.gif

Thanks for the laugh! rofl.gif

PhilippinesIntial travel to US from Phils
When Ruchie and Mathew flew here, I sent her all the links to the airports that they were going to be at. It helped her to get a visual of how she was going to get from point A to point B.... She flew from Manila to Hong Kong, then to Chicago(O'hare) and then to Kansas City. I flew up to Chicago to meet them and flew back to KC with them.
She was intimidated at times, but she said it helped her with the links I had sent her from the airports. If you can't afford to fly there and then fly here with her, then I think this is the next best thing..... good.gif

Hello VJers! For quite some time I haven't read an interview experience of a K1/K2 wherein the K2 was asked of any question. Can please anyone under K1/K2 share a sample question asked to the k2? just want to have ideas since the changes in the trend makes me worry, just like this 2nd interview thing.

Thank you so much. smile.gif

Ruchie and Mathew's interview experience was..... Mathew was 3 years old, but they did show him a photo of the 3 of us together and asked him who I was and he answered correctly. It all depends on the age of the K-2.... I don't see you having any problems as long as the child knows what is going on and who you are... Don't sweat it, everything will be okay! Good Luck to you! Was just wondering.. will i have a problem if i only got a one way ticket? i heard peeps has round trip tickets for themselves or their SO. If ill be having a problem, with whom should i'll be dealing it with?

Jomay

We purchased one-way tickets and had no problems at all. As said above, it's okay as long it isn't a tourist visa. good.gif

Guys,

Just an observation, but it seems that the majority of those being interviewed for a K1 or K3 Visa are Filipinas.

Aside from me, are there other Filipinos here on VisaJourney going for their medical & interview? In our case, my Fiancee is the U.S. Citizen and am the Filipino:)

Yes, The US embassy in the Philippines is the busiest US embassy in the world and most of what they process are for K1s. Someone posted a number and I "think" in 2007, the manila embassy issued close to 10,000 K1 visas.

Yup, the U.S. Manila Embassy is one of the busiest and it certainly doesn't help that the Philippines is considered a "high fraud" state.

But to clarify my question, I wanted to ask with respect to the U.S. Embassy here in Manila.

I just noticed that majority of those going for their medical & interview are Filipinas based on the posts here. Meaning that a majority of Filipinos seeking K1/K3 Visas (Beneficiaries) here at the U.S. Embassy in Manila are girls with their U.S. Citizen Fiances (Petitioners) being the guys.

I'm just trying to find out who is in the same boat as me, with me (beneficiary) being the guy and the U.S. Citizen (Petitioner) being the girl. I hope I'm not the only one:)

I have seen a few being the guy as the beneficiary... Not many though! Can't recall who they were here on VJ. Good luck to you!

PhilippinesIs it getting old or what ?
It's all about letting each other have their own space and their own identity... Plan a time of the day or night where it is your time(meaning both)... Make that time your special time... Right now you both are apart, but you can still have that special time for each other.. When you two are living together here, set aside a few hours a night just for the two of you..... Don't ever let it get to the point of smothering her... It will drive her away from you... Relax and let her be herself... Good Luck to you!!! good.gif
DARUMA07MalePhilippines2008-08-19 17:11:00
PhilippinesIs it getting old or what ?
That is normal... We went through the same thing! Day in and day out chatting 2 to 4 hours a day, you have a tendency to run out of things to say... It picked up again around the time of the interview to go over all of our Documents.. Nothing wrong with this as long as you both understand what's going on..... Good Luck to you! good.gif

This is none of my business but I was wondering if Tpezzuto and webcritic are one and the same person and if they are hired by OLVIS or the Olvis owner himself? It seems they just joined VJ to dispute the bad experiences of other people who used OLVIS. unsure.gif If it is so, isn't that a bit unprofessional to be challenging displeased clients this way? They paid for the service, it was undelivered, they do have the right to vent... adding more insults to injury will only add to their displeasure with OLVIS and this is not the only forum that displeased clients could vent, would Olvis need to run all over the net to challenge every word against them then?

Cebu Pacific has had MANY displeased clients who are venting all over cyber space yet cebu pacific do not follow and challenge everything, they just continue to do what they can in the best way they can and let the few satisfied travellers spread the good news for them. Can't olvis do the same? Personally, I don't believe praises I read from supposed "overly satisfied clients" posted on a companies personal site coz it is easy to make up one.. word of mouth from people you personally know still holds greater value.

Well, we didn't go through any agency or any immigration lawyers, we just have "DEAR OLD VJ" and the "DEAR OLD VJERS" to assist us for FREE and we were approved with no problem at all. Filed:January 29, 2008, NOA1:Feb. 1, NOA2:March 18, Visa on hand:June 3 (i would have gotten the visa sooner if I grabbed the April 1 interview date that was first offered to us when we called)... by the way my fiance has had 3 divorce, I have 2kids... i also know quiet a number whose fiancee has been annuled or some petitioners who has filed petitions for other person before, and or someone who was denied a tourist visa before, or some other minor complications and they also didn't hire lawyers or agencies and was approved in no time with no problem at all.

As others have said, if your case has no big complications, there is ABSOLUTELY no need to hire immigration agency or lawyer. The process only seems complicated at first but when you start working on it, it is just a very simple process actually. Immigration agencies and immigration lawyers WILL NOT and CAN NOT make the process any faster than other cases NO MATTER what they claim. We were approved in less than 2 months all because VSC was working faster that time as compared to how they are doing now.

And by the way, VJ also SPELL OUT all requirements and STAY ON TOP OF EVERYTHING AND SO MUCH MORE because we have people here who are going through the process in real time, day in and day out (day time in philippines, night time in other countries and vice versa). And there are members here who are lawyers, doctors, researchers and etc., no immigration agency or immigration lawyer can claim that diversity of information sources... and all for FREE.

PEACE OUT! good.gif

I 100% agree with you..... good.gif A vast majority don't need a lawyer anyway! This process is very simple if one follows the guides and advice from seasoned VJers... There are a few complicated cases that might need an Attorney, but most don't... It takes alot of reading and research, but 95% of the people can get it done themselves.. Why spend money for some high price lawyer, when there is VJ to help....

If you hire an Attorney and fail to get your Visa, then I would blame the Attorney. That is what you hired him for.... Law Firms like Olvis try to fool you into thinking you can't do anything by yourself. I'll keep my hard earned money and laugh all the way to the bank... tongue.gif

Just thought I'd lay out a bit of information on who NOT to hire for immigration or any kind of help.

Olvis Travel and Immigration in Cebu!

I didn't know anything about the process when I did my first K1 and hired good old 100% guaranteed Mike.
Owner of Olvis Immigration and Travel that has a office in Cebu and he lives in Las Vegas.

He took me for a $1000 in 2003 and the visa was outright denied.
Claimed total refund if denied also.
Never got a cent back.
He still advertizes.
"Amazing 22 Year 100% Success Track Record!"
http://www.olvis.com/
Right before the interview Red flags flew as his girls in the Cebu office told my fiance not to mention that Olvis had done the paperwork!
OOPS! To late!

Last I heard he is still in business as a friend said he saw a big sign advertizing Olvis at the airport on Mactan island.

I was referred to Olvis by some other people that have used him , they said he was fantastic. I used him and I will tell you this Mike and the staff are very professional and really knew how to handle all of the problems and made it a very smooth experience for both me and my fiancee. I am new to this board and really do not know why no one puts their name? It seems kind of funny? By the way my name is Tom Pezzuto.

I didn't say the staff in Cebu wasn't professional. They seemed to be. However Mike didn't come thru with returning the money. He did finally return part of it .I think it was $150 of about $1,150.
That was for the extra I'd paid for her child that cancelled out anyway.
Glad you had a good experience with Olvis. Mine was a long ago and it looks like they may have their act together now.

If the Man's word is no good, then he is no good.... He should have stood by his refund policy... mad.gif You should have gotten your money back!!!

Me and my fiance both planned of picking me up here in the Philippines to travel to Virginia but after a few months he told me he won't have enough money for our wedding coz he has to pay for my moms ticket too if she pass her interview at the USEM for tourist visa to attend my wedding. He told me its okay with him to come here and pick me up here in PI just that we will loose money that will help alot with my moms ticket and wedding stuff. I am scared and never been on the plane before. I may not be comfortable to travel alone and waiting at the airport to get on another plane, getting my luggage or without him sitting next to me on the plane or have someone to talk to. Landing and take off maybe scary. What should I do?

Flying is very safe! Landing and taking off isn't really that bad. Once I knew what airports that Ruchie would be at, I sent her the airport websites so she could learn the layout of the airport. It really helped her out to get from point A to point B.. Her POE was at Chicago (Ohare).. What I did was, I flew from Kansas City to Chicago to meet her there when her flight came in and then we flew back together to Kansas City.. She had no problems during her entire trip... You will be fine! I would advise to bring a book or magazine to keep yourself occupied during the long flight across the Pacific. You will do better than what you think you will..... Good Luck on your flight!!! good.gif

We also considered my fiance picking me and the kids up before but then due to financial constraints we decided it would be best for him to just wait for us at Raleigh, NC airport. I am used to traveling by plane but have never traveled out of the Philippines but I am not worried coz as others have said, plane ride is relatively easy, para kalang nakasakay sa bus or taxi (di hamak na mas safe and comfortable pa nga compared to bus and taxis and jeeps dito sa Pinas.)

Daruma also gave a good suggestion about studying the airport lay-outs (will do that also.. thanks Daruma good.gif ).

In anyones experience or opinion, will i need a co-sponsor if my income is only slightly over the 125% poverty level?

The guidelines for 2008 say $22,000 for a family of 3, to which i will be making an estimated $23,500-$24,000 this year.

Does anyone know if they follow the guidelines closely and possibly take into consideration that my past few years were much higher but due to a recent job change it has been lowered?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

Thank You ~~Mike and Karol~~

In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong as long as you are over the minimum...

Our problem is trying to get Ruchie a job scheduled around my job... It's not impossible, but it does throw a loop in things!
