I hear you, our longest span of not seeing each other was 16 months. Him coming to visit you is a great idea!
Enjoy your time together and hang in there. AP will finish at some point. Sooner than later, inshallah.

Unless he is there anyway, I would have him ask them first by email. In general there is nothing one can do to speed up the AP process. I would hate to see him fly all the way over there just to have them tell him you just have to wait.

When I was speaking directly with one of the consular officers she had said that AP is a process they cannot predict or change. At the time, which is now a good 6 months ago they were several months behind.

I tried talking to them about me coming in to clear up a mistake made on their end and they were not open to it. They had marked my husband as a no show to his interview when he had in fact been there. They made me go through the State Department instead.

So what it boils down to is if he wants to try or not and if he can go with the understanding he may get anywhere. He would get to visit with you though, so that's always a plus!

my fiance is not here in algeria now,he is in MN,he emailed the embassy yesterday to ask them for an appointement to allow him to see the CO and ask them why they put our case under AP.

WE didnt see each ohter for 10 months,we miss each other,we wanted to travel together to spend holidays together in france,but my passport is in the embassy since my interview on december 2012;

he will come her to spend holidays together, coz i cant travel without passport

This embassy in general does not look too much at what you bring. One of the officers told me they generally review your file before the interview so they know what questions they want to focus on. They have looked at what they have ahead of time. With that said I would still bring anything extra or more current to the interview as well just in case.

u r right they dont check what u bring,they hv a special quesyions to ask u at the interview day;

am under AP processing for more than 5 months and they didnt tell me why, everything was good when i had my interview.

I just wanna ask for a help from u all ,what do think if my fiance chedule an appointement with the embassy and come here to algeria to meet the CO to make the AP ,PLIZ  i wanna u all to share with me what do u think about this idea.I need ur help

thank u for u all

I love to hear from others from Algeria who have gone through the same thing. Thanks in advance.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaVaccinations & Medical in Lima, Peru

Today I contacted the interview and we got my fiancee's interview data and surprisingly it is for January 6th! Anyways I am going to visit her for Christmas in Lima, Peru (and unfortunately will be leaving before her interview since we didn't find out until today and I bought the tickets months ago) and will be helping her with all the pre-interview paperwork. She needs to get a medical done and she scheduled an appointment with one of the two doctors (she said the male one so I guess Dr. Sandro Corigliano).

I originally was under the impression that vaccination records weren't required at the interview, only for AOS, but one of the letters they send from the embassy in Lima says that vaccinations records must be shown before a visa will be issued. Anyways, the Dr. said 460 soles for the appointment and like 600 soles for the vaccinations depending on which ones she needs. I'm guessing this means that's the maximum she would pay but want to be sure. Does anyone have actually how much they paid at one of these doctors for vaccinations?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC fire alarm today

Try calling DOS instead- much faster hold times and really friend service.  Both times I called, I was speaking to someone after not even 1-2 minutes smile.png  Much different from the 30 min wait time with NVC.  I did call NVC late one night- 15 mins prior to their closing and to my surprise I got someone right away, so try that.

Oh really? So I can call the DOS office with my USCIS receipt number to get my NVC/DOS case number also?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC fire alarm today

Every company over a certain size is required to have fire drills.

Well of course but I would have rather been put back on hold, and most companies don't put you on hold for 25-30 minutes :D

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC fire alarm today

Did anyone else experience this today? I called to check if our I-129F case has made it there yet around 4:00 PM central time and waited for over 25 minutes. Finally a guy comes on the line, and asks me for my number and I give to him, he asks me to repeat it one more time and as I do he interrupts me and says "Sorry sir, the fire alarm just went off here I'm going to have to drop you... 'click'" and hangs up on me. It was really nice after waiting that long and not hearing any information (sarcastic). The thing that drives me even more nuts about waiting on the line is the every 10 seconds of "Assistance is just a moment away...", "thankyou for holding..." blah blah

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionsecond letter of intent for interview

I was wondering if the following is ok for the secondary letter of intent that I send my fiancee to her interview. It's very similar to the first just modified a little. The body of the text says:

I, [my name here], do hereby state that I am still legally able and willing to marry [her name here] and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the US using the K-1 visa. I give my full and continuing support to this application.

What do you think?

Not counting on it, as I said we have alternative plans (Internet streaming) and even if they can come we're not sure if they will.

Yes I know this is a risk but if was either that or risk not getting the venue at all (due to how often it's reserved for weddings). I had to pick a date that worked for all my family and friends because many live out of state. However it's almost 5 months after the interview and I am aware of the risks. We won't however be purchasing any Airlines tickets until the visa is in hand.

My fiance is in her interview at this moment so wish her the best of luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Question About Wedding

Thanks guys!

If your family celebration is not in the US you have to wait advance parole before you can leave the US.

It will be in the same city where I live in the US (Minneapolis). I would be too expensive to go back to Peru and have a celebration there. We are hoping that her immediate family can get tourist visas and come but if not we thought about streaming it over the internet so they can watch :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Question About Wedding

My fiancee and I plan to marry legally in the court here very soon after she enters the United States (in February or March), however we plan to do a ceremony and reception for my family later in May (we already have somewhere reserved too). I want to make sure that the answer she gives will be sufficient to the question they ask. For example:

"When and where are you getting married?"

"My fiance and I plan to get legally married in the local court in Minnesota within two weeks of my arrival to the United States. Then in May we will celebrate it with his family and friends by having a regular wedding ceremony and reception."

Do you think this answer is ok? She will have proof of our wedding venue reservations for May with her as well.

Philippinessent mail to US postal..worried :(

Express mail works great internationally, because it's an international standard and is trackable on both ends. The international postal union actually fines member countries (Phillipines is a member) for being late on delivery of express mail items. I have sent my fiance in South America items via express mail 5 or 6 times now with no trouble. If you're going to send something via USPS, I would recommend using this service. What method did she send it then? Did they give you a number on your receipt?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhich service center?

My fiance and I will soon be filing our I-129F for the K1 visa. After we send it to the Dallas lockbox, which service center will it be sent to? I live in Minnesota, which technically would be Nebraska then, but I've read Nebraska doesn't process these petitions. So where will it be sent after I send it to Dallas?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 was sent today!!

My fiance and I just checked the USCIS website and found that the NOA2 was sent to me. It's strange that I didn't get a text message or email yet though I got one for NOA1. Well hopefully I'll get one tomorrow. We are very happy! It's been just over 2 months since we received our NOA1. So what's next? I know it goes on to the NVC right? Who and when should I call next for more information on our case??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdont want to wait another 4 or 5 months
My fiance and I have been apart for 2 years, and I only get to see her every 6 or 7 months. It's been really hard but we don't give up because we love each other. We haven't even gotten our NOA2 yet and you're talking about an interview and the visa. You can't wait 3 more months really?? You must being doing this for the wrong reasons then.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS-160 Previous Work Experience

So this has nothing to do with the interview scheduling right? It's just a online application that they retrieve when you she gives them the bar code on the interview date correct? So after we get the new number, my fiancee can just bring the new confirmation page and barcode to her interview in January and not bring the old one? Just want to make sure this is correct.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS-160 Previous Work Experience

I think it's a bug on the website.. or depending on what browser you used maybe. I filled out my DS-160 using Google Chrome and I noticed that too. Previous work experience and education is not on the "side bar" (or whatever you call it - the left side of the website listing all the pages/sections). What I did is when I clicked the "back" button, I filled out that section then "saved".. Make sure it is there when you "Review". My "previous work experience and education" disappeared several times when I edited some other sections, so I had to fill out that part again.

So should we fill out another one?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS-160 Previous Work Experience

Hello, yesterday I helped my fiancee to fill out the DS-160 online. When she was filling it out, it asked for her current job but did not ask for any previous work or educational experience. When I clicked the "back" button I noticed it said something about that, but normally go forward it asked for nothing. Is this some type of error with the page? Should we fill a new one out? We were just concerned because we'd seen some other people mention education and such (which she has) and we don't want this to mess anything up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLatin American Names and Addresses on Forms

My fiance is Peru. As most Latin American people, she has 2 last names (one paternal and one maternal). On this site I have seen where it said many people list only the paternal last name on the form (specifically I-129F and G325A) and attach a paper listing/explaining the full name. My question is, if it will fit, is there a problem with me listing both last names together in the last name or family name box? She also has two first names, so I'm guessing I should put the first one in "first name" and the second one in "middle name?" (they don't have "middle names" in Peru)

Another question along kind of same lines. She lives and is from Lima, however Lima has districts as well as "Urbanizaciones" within the district. Usually when I send her packages or mail I don't say Lima, but rather the district and Urbanizacion. I'll make up a fake address as an example:

Juan Carlos Mendez

Calle San Luis 300 Urb. El Barrio

Miraflores, Lima-18

PERU

This is how I've successfully mailed several packages. So how should this go on the forms?

Well the person that replied said he already sent it so he can't fill out the new form:

i just sent my packet in has the old forms will i be denyed??

I think I'm going to fill out the new one because that quote from the website doesn't make sense either: "The current edition is dated 06/13/13."Ummm, no it's not, it's dated 06/30/2013, and that's not the current edition, I think that has been on there for a while too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew I-129F form different

So I went to the USCIS website to download the I-129F and found it is a new form that looks slightly different (expires 6/30/2016). The first question I have, is why is the phone number on page 4 (item #30) only have enough spaces for an American telephone now?? How should I enter my foreign fiances number with country code? A lot of you might not be able to see the new one if you have visited the link below recently because the original may still be saved by your browser. You need to use a different browser or clear your temporary files.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestranslating foreign documents

What is the best way to show/implement translated documents into english? I know someone who is fluent in both languages needs to do it, but how should they write it. For example, I have some forms that have boxes with foreign words, like "nombre", what is the best way to show the translation of these without getting messy and scribbling everywhere. Does any one have an example they could show me? Or like with a letter, should it be wrote off to the side with an arrow pointing or something?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Records Peru

My fiancee will have her interview for the K1 visa scheduled soon and she told me in Peru there are different types of police certificates she can get, some more expensive than others to obtain. She is wondering which one the embassy in Lima needs, and also will she need any others for when we later here for when we file for permanent residence? Also are there any other papers we will need later here in the US that she should get before she leaves? Or will they put all this on file after her interview?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Supporting Information, do you think this is enough?

My fiancee has her interview for her K1 in January, I'm gathering more documents that I will bring with me when I visit her next week (just happened that the interview fell just after I leave :( ). I make more than enough to fulfill the poverty guidelines but I just started my current job back in June (I was still in college but got a job after I graduated). It also happens however that with my previous jobs for 2011 & 2012 tax years I made above the poverty guidelines also (but these were with different jobs I don't work at anymore). Do you think the following will be enough supporting evidence with the i-134:

-Original from my current employer as of last week stating that I am a full time permanent employee, annual salary, hire date, etc.

-Copies of my last 4 paycheck stubs (with my YTD income already showing far above the poverty guidlines).

-Copies of my 1040s & W2 for tax years 2011 & 2012 (as stated these were for other jobs but my income was above the poverty guidelines

What do you think? I also requested some transcripts from the IRS just in case but they will not arrive for another week or so, but wouldn't the 1040 with W2s be enough? Is the total evidence above sufficient for my fiancee's interview with my new job and all?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long did you know your fiance before you filed your I-129F?

We met online in August 2011 and I first met her in person in March 2012. We filed on August 2013, so we had been talking for almost 2 years. I've also visited her 4 times about to be 5 and she hasn't had her interview yet. I know a lot of people have only met once and often times get engaged within a year or so it seems.
