Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTax return or Transcripts ?
Transcripts are the way to go.. Free, simple and consolidated for your easy use.... I wouldn't try and mess with the tax returns especially if it is a multi page return.. Transcripts are offical documents so you are fully covered with them....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionExpired Green Card and boarding issues

Hi everybody,

I decided to get the transportation letter. It requires forms, copies and other stuff, but it is free. I will feel better if I do it.

Thanks for the replies

What Transportation Letter are you talking about?? My wife will be going to Thailand and returning after her GC expires.. We also are planning a trip to the Bahamas in Nov, they accept the GC inliew of Visa.. Wondering how this will playout for that trip with expired GC and the Extension letter issues during this process...

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionbuying a house as a conditional resident

Again!!! without her, theres no him to get money from them to get a house to begin with.He should tell his parents "  No, we are a family , its our house" instead he prefers it in his name. Its ok, anything accrued in a marriage singularly or plurally, IS JOINT PROPERTY AND THAT SALL I HAVE TO SAY ON THAT.

My thoughts exactly, his parents may wish to protect there investment, however it would be a 50-50 split if acquired during there marriage... Red flag possible, easy to speak about at an interview with cultural differences and such... I did the exact opposite, owned my home outright and added Pla to my deed to ensure no issues for us with joint everything.... Be ready for some explaining if they wonder about it....

So even if we get our green card today, most of us would still need to wait to have been here exactly 3 years to proceed for the final N400 correct? For us, that would be April....

3 years from the first Green Card issue.. Actually 90 days before then, same as you did for the ROC....

PhilippinesWhat are your hobbies?

I love to fly my plane also only mine is radio control. My hobby is radio control precision aerobatics. Nothing beats the satisfaction of executing a crisp 4 point roll in front of the judges !!!

I know what you mean... I love to land so smooth you can't tell we are on the ground except for the tires rolling makes a slight vibration.... Nothing like percision flying be it radio control or the real thing... We enjoy getting out for a nice hop for lunch or visists to the family or friends. Have a nice trip planned in Aug to Florida for vacation.. Just hope the weather cooperates with the plans

Philippinesmoney problems in paradise...

The answer to your question is another question. What would they have done if you or an American wasn't involved with their relative? Whatever the answer is is where the money should come from. For a lot of folks once an American joins the family they begin having 'problems'. This brother may actually have a real medical issue but what about 'serious problems' in the future? What will you do then if your wife's paycheck can't make even a dent in paying off those to be bills? Why can you help this one but not the other? You have to bend the tree when it's still young.

If you have a little and have no issues letting that little go then help them but keep in mind that this could very well become a bad habit for your extended family.

That number of $10k is troublesome to me... I have a friend in the PI that got in a motorcycle accident a few years back.. He broke his leg real bad and needed surgery to allow it to heal properly... The total cost was $1500, so I loaned it to him and he is fine today... Yes I got the money back over time... Be real careful with request for money, sometimes we are seen as ATM's for every little thing that comes along... I am married to a lovely Thai women, we help her family when we want and do not get the constant request for funds... Our choice and the family is fine with our gifts when we send/give them to them... I love my in-laws and they are my family now.. Comes with the marriage and becoming part of the extended family... Money should never be part of the equation... Verify the amount as best as possible and decide if you can or want to help out... Then do what your heart and mind tell you is right... You will always be judged on your decisions and actions... That is part of life!!!!

Philippines$25 USD for Unlimited calls to the Philippines

Magicjack works perfect for $20 a year.... I have 3 accounts with them and is easy to use... If she or you have an Ipad or Iphone you can get a free access on their app.... So it could be free... And of course if you both have them facetime is the best for free... My wife uses both of these to stay in touch with family and friends back home....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat to do? My mom will pass away within days and I need my fiance here.
[quote name='NouraM' date='May 7 2009, 12:19 AM' post='2906024']
My mom is in ICU and will pass away within days...maybe hours.

I have called both NVC and USCIS and both gave me standard response saying that even an urgent expedite request would take 5 business days to get a response. I have also written an email to the US emabssy in Paris asking for their help. Our case was finally received today at NVC, but because of a data error on their side with my birthday they will not discuss my case with me until my birthdate is corrected in the system.

What do I do? My mom is asking for Kwabena and really wants to meet him to know who will be my husband and also Kwabena and I already have a son named Benjamin. Benjamin is the first and only grandchild in our family and my mom wants to know Benjamin's father before she passes.

What do I do? What can I do?

I really need him with me right now. crying.gif

He can travel on a visitors Visa, isn't France a waiver country so he can come here with no issues to visit.. He would have to return to finish the K1 fun and games at the Embassy when the paperwork is finished.. I have my fiance here with me right now, she has been here 3 times total since we filed the K1 paperwork... She is from Thailand and we got her a visitors visa in 2006 that she continues to use.. They even stamped her B2 entry this time for 18 months, her I-94 show Oct 1, 2010 departure date.. So it can be done for sure... Of course I want the K1 completed so we can get that all behind us, but we do the best we can until the "Blackhole" called VSC gets their act together, been 7+months so far... Good luck and I am real sorry about your Mom, God Bless you all!!!

Steve

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont Service Center frustrations...
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Jul 23 2009, 11:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Has anybody here had to wait over 140 days from NOA1 to NOA2? We are at 143 days right now and getting a little upset over this sh*t.
The clowns over at the Vermont Center seem to just randomly pull cases to process, which is unfair.
I'm just curious how many here had to wait over 143 days for their NOA2.
Thanks.

We are at 310 days... This #######, I agree that they randomly pick the cases to work.. I have called multiples times to them, have had my senator contact them and an ambassador... They have assured Them (and me) that we should be complete by mid August... We fair exceed all minimums for approval and have been sitting here waiting... The only blessing is that Churawan has a B2 visa and has been able to visit me a few times since this process started for us.. But I want to get this all behind us and move forward with our new lifes... I wish VSC would follow the first in first out concept... What are they doing up there???

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAbout Wedding Pictures

There were like 60 people or more.Is it acceptable?

I had a home wedding by Justice of teh peace, as we did the big deal in Thailand with 350 guest there.. So I only had close friends attend here at my home, 15 people was it.. That was no issue for the interviewer.. They were definitely looking for picture though, we had about 10 with us, copies printed from digital pictures, Wal-Mart to the rescue to print them out.. That was it for that part of the evidence they were looking for... Do not worry about number of people or too many pictures....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting too LONG!!!!
Hi folks.. Churawan (Pla) and I have been members here now for ~16 of the 17 months we have been waiting for our K1 to be approved.... Thank God I had her get a Tourist visa back in 2006, long before we decided to get engaged and married... She has been able to make multiple trips her for extended visits, glad I could get her plane tickets repeatedly(getting old and expensive)... I used an attorney when I filed as I didn't know of this great site at that time.... Our NOA1 is 9/29/08 for our K1. It has been in "security background check" for over a year now. I have used Senators, Congressman and an ambassador to attempt to get this moving. All with no luck. same "form letter" back from the VSC....

We have know each other for 9.5 years. Met her in Sept of 2000, over time we fell deeply in Love and decided to start dating in late 2005, decided to Marry in Dec of 2007(ask her on Xmas Morning at a nice beach resort in Hua Hin Thailand), filed for the K1 in Sept 2008. She has visited here in 2006, 2008 (Summer and Xmas) and 2009 Spring and Summer. 2010 Jan to present.... We have spent a lot of time together, here at my home, vacations, travel in Asia...

Pla is here right now on another visit, just got another form letter response through my congressman saying still stuck with background checks comeback in 90 days.... So I have had enough of this supposed to take 3-6 month process of K1.. She quit her job in Thailand and I already bought her a new car 12 months ago in preperation of the pending approval. Not to mention getting her an entire new wardrobe for the northeast USA living conditions. She Loves her new home, life (Me) and being here. I guess that would be the only real benefit to the long wait and multiple trips back and forth, no home sick issues at all!!!

So why I am writing here, is to get some opinions on just getting Married, like next week, abandoning the K1 and starting over with the CR1 approach... I should have done this from the start, but was told the K1 was faster and that was what I was looking for.... So now I am out the $$$ for the lawyer and K1 application cost... But at this point I want to get this over and finalized for both of our sakes...

So what do you think of this approach??

She has until July on this current I94, I know she can't over stay and she will not!!

She will still have her B2 visa to visit me again while we go through this new process...

What is the "normal" CR1 processing times???

Any and all advice would be welcome...

Steve and Pla

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow much is your phone bill?
MAgicjack is the way to go if they have internet access.... Order 1 and when you get it, mail it to them then you will be making "local calls" to that number and they will call you easily on any number in the states for free.... I have been using these things for 3 years and they work great.. We left one in Thailand with the family to use daily... Her friends asked for them also they can call her when they want to catch up.. $19.95 a year... Cheap and simple....

Wow, really not judging here, but how can you guys not be aware of the drug testing at the physical??? There are many discussions of this topic on here almost weekly, you should have had knowledge of this and warned him of the tests... Sorry to hear about this happening to you both... I hope you get through this quick as possible, 12 months will seem like a long time, but the rewards are coming!!!!!
