US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	how long before interview??	No actually the case number that paris needs, is the one you get from NVC. It should start with "PRS2006" We'er going through Paris as well. We sent our Packet 3 on the 7th of june, and got our interview letter yesterday. Interview set for july 20. Actually I thought I'd be way happier then this but they told him it'll be a week before he gets his visa, and now I'm nervoous because I took vacation time off to be with him next week (stupid I know). What additional fees have to be paid once you are approved at your local service center? I keep reading about bills from the NVC and I'm soooo confused. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Missing Tax Returns HELP	So I've been trying to gather everythign I can for the I-134 and such that I'll need to send to Alex after the approval (yeah I know, a bit early since we're not quite there yet) but I can't seem to find my tax returns. I know I put them in my file, and I searched all night for them, but they aren't there. Is there any way to request a copy somewhere, or does anyone know if it's not a huge deal since I have a Co-Sponsor? My Parents are going to be filling out the same information, because I DEFINATELY don't make enough, but I'm worried without mine he still may be refused. Any experiances with the tax returns or with a co-sponsor? PS- his interview will be in Paris, not many filing the same countries as we are, but any help on I-134s in France would be GREATLY appreciated. My boss wrote up a letter but it just has the name of the company in our official font at the top and his signature on the bottom. That's for after you've got your NOA1 and have signed up for email nostices at USCIS website. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Please advice on how to start	I hired a lawyer to the tune of $650.00 and he really hasn't done much but answer my questions. Of course that was before I found VJ. and my lawyer has been very SUPPORTIVE, but that's about it other than supplying paperwork. In fact, he never informed us that I needed to send in a copy of my FIRST MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE and now we're praying it wont end in an RFE. And the 650, only takes us through the first step, up till the visa approval, the aos and anythign else will be additional...shoudl we decide to use a lawyer from that point on. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Military question...sorta	Ok REALLY need to know soon if anyone can help. I was in the army reserves prior to going off to basic training. Unfortunately 2 days before graduation I was sent home with a medical discharge. Neutral. When I left and filed all my forms they told me that after 6 months it would be as if I never was in the military. That there would be no records accessable or anything. My history would basically be wiped since I didn't TECHNICALLY finish basic. Well now that I've ordered my tax transcripts, my third year back (2003) will have military pay on them, but the military job was not listed in the I-129F. Is this going to be a huge problem? I mean we have a cosponsor so they don't exactly need those tax transcripts, but for approving the I-129F, am I going to run into problems? I didn't even think about it until I called the IRS yesterday. I'd love to call the head of my old unit and find out, unfortunately they've just been deployed...any ideas guys? I'm DESPERATE for any sort of answer. THX in advance! ~Kiya There will always be a record of you being in the military. Didnt they give you a DD214 when they released/discharged you??? I wasn't given anythign upon discharge, I was told to turn in my paperwork at the 1016th, and left empty handed. With any luck monday I'll have my sorry excuse for a law firm contacting someone ANYONE to solve this problem and the others. I need to add some information but neither myself nor my lawyer are sure how to go abotu it. He thinks we should just mail the info, but I think we should call. I need to change one brithdate and add forgotten employment information. Can this be done at the consulate or should this be done at NSC? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	submitting clarified evidence after NOA1, before RFE	I had to call to make some ammendments on my case, but when I FINALLY got to someone on the phone I was told it would have to be sent with a cover lett, case number, reciept number, blablabla. Dunno if they've matched it to the case or tossed it. but I guess we'll find out. And if you are on a visitors visa or on the VWP, yo uwill have to return to your country if you get married. If you try to get married then adjust status here, you'll have to prove the marriage was spur of the moment, which seems practically impossible. Why does it seem practically impossible when that's exactly what he said happened? Totally with meauxna. Its done all the time and is a perfectly legal way to enter on a vistors visa or VWP, get married and to do AOS. What is illegal is if one has intent on entry to immigrate. As the OP stated that he was visiting, decided to get engaged.....if they wished to marry and do AOS it is well within the realms of possibles. I'm not disagreeing with anyone, it's just been my understanding that it's extremely difficult to prove that it was spur of the moment, and not planned. I know it's happened and people have been successful. Just giving what I've understood the process to be, and what I understand to be the "safest" way to go about things.
