From our personal experience my hubby is here on K1 and he got his social security card in no time, he had to bring with him was his passport and 1-94. Just that simple. Only problem we have now is they misspelled his first name by switching two letters *doh*. How it got passed Homeland Security is beyond me. I hope we get it sorted soon.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

My fiance and I are still awaiting an interview as well. His forms were signed for August 27th, and we had a CEAC case update on September 16th. With a wedding coming up in 3 weeks, we are VERY nervous hoping his forms will be logged and interview set in time for the wedding. Anyone gotten a interview set recently? When I call DOS they just keep saying his forms haven't been logged. Someone mentioned in another forum that school visas may be slowing other visas, so I am assuming that is what is happening to all of the k-1's like us that are waiting.

That makes sense about the school visas and whatnot. My fiance was telling me that while he had his interview a large amount of the people in line were there for student it seemed

What paperwork did he take>?

Thanks! He took anything and everything..we always believed its always safe to have too much info than not enough..even though the only things they asked for was sponsor paper work(the I-134 Affidavit of Support and letter from my moms employer since she is his sponsor), his police certificate, birth certificate and my letter of intent, MRV receipt, appointment letter, and of course passport, and 2 passport size photos..This is from memory of what he told me of course but I'll put up a review soon, just waiting on him to type it :P

Congratulations.  Isn't it fun, trying to sleep while waiting on the news?

I don't know how I'm still awake and its 9:22pm, I been up since 3am lol Even after hearing the news I was so excited I couldn't even imagine sleeping :P

I've bolded the important part. He got his interview letter on the 4th August, which is before the 1st September. Therefore he doesn't need to fill out DS-260.

meant august 14th DOH! lol But I see your point..and that clears things up! Thanks so much for posting so quickly! :P

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Minor update regarding DS-260 for K1's:

Now, according to posts in other threads K Visa applicants *can* get their NVC Invoice number from the NVC either by emailing them or when ringing them. So when you start ringing them to find out your case number you also need to be asking for your NVC Invoice number. So yes, we K1's (if we get Packet 3 after Sept 1st) are now subject to this as well. When filling out DS-260 and it asks about your relationship, there's no option to select Fiance(e), so the closest thing you can pick is "Spouse". Note that also originally we were told that DS-260 would also replace DS-2001 (the form you send to say "I'm ready for interview"). This is false, you still have to send that plus the other forms asked for as before, including the duplicates where asked for.

If you're on the DCF (Direct Consular Filing) route and therefore have had no contact with the NVC, you need to follow Lost's instructions at the top of the forum instead.

(Note/Disclaimer: I have NOT been through the DS-260 process yet myself because I'm still waiting on my NOA2 and all. The information above is based on input from other experienced users as well as the embassy website. Your mileage may vary and this is subject to change as time goes on.)

So just to confirm since my fiance has his interview next week and got his interview letter on the 4th of August he does not have to fill it out, right?

When I go to https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx  there is an option he can do to fill it out the DS-260..

of course this me over thinking before his interview next week lol

It is advised that one uses a black color ink on legal documents so I would assume black :) Trust me they can tell the difference of a copy or not

SIGNATURE BLUE OR BLACK PEN? BLUE IS BETTER B/C IT CAN BE DISTINGUISHED AND NOT CONFUSED WITH A PHOTOCOPY... ?

just double checking... the letter (paket 3) my fiance got stated; ds-156k one but the embassy website says duplicate

. So which is correct or just make two just in case?

I would follow the directions of Packet 3 :) But make sure you keep extra copies for when you have your interview

I'm really hoping I'll hear something Monday or Tuesday. But my plan was to start pestering on Wednesday if I've still not had any news.

If I end up interviewing in late September, we will have to push the wedding back to December. Which will be a bummer, but not the end of the world I suppose. :/

finges and toes crossed here for you too :) it will be okay..totally not the end of the world because you know in your heart you will be with the love of your life and that itself is worth the wait

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

so just making sure..my fiance should bring his passport to the embassy..right? :P I'm joking!!! heehee!

Thank you for posting this btw..you are so helpful!

I'm going to sound like a broken record but this is what I would bring:

Things you will definitely need and should be on top
Interview letter (when you get it)
Passport (with at least 8 months clearance before expiring)
2 US passport photos
Birth Certificate - long form with both parents listed (plus 1 copy)
UK police certificate - (plus 1 copy)
I-134 evidence of support form from me (plus 1 copy)
I-134 backup -my last 3 years of IRS tax transcripts and last 3 of my paystubs which I will send when we get interview date (plus 1 copy of all)
Visa Fee receipt and Courier Fee receipt - you will go online to new system and pay once we get interview date (plus 1 copy)

Things you should bring just in case but probably won't need
Extra copies of the forms sent in to the Embassy (DS156, DS156-K, DS157, DS230 part 1)

The medical checklist is to facilitate Knightsbridge in conducting your exam. The embassy has the official report four page report. I just don't get that. The interviewer isn't a doctor.

NOA1/2 has never, ever been asked for. That is USCIS stuff. The NOA2 is super important for AOS. Don't lose it.

Your original intent to marry is in the file. Do a new current one if you like. The beneficiary signs his oath saying the same thing at his interview. Read the form DS-156k. A new letter of intent from him is redundant.

Ok, I'll shut up. I'm sure you don't believe me. tongue.png

United KingdomWait time for K1 Interviews at London Embassy?

Stay strong this part is the hardest because you are so close but its gonna be okay :P I promise :D

I'll try my best to answer from our personal experience in red from your questions

Can anyone give me an indication of how long I should expect to wait for my interview in London.  I am getting very impatient!!!

NOA2: 5th July

Consulate received: 8th Aug

Packet 3 received: 15th Aug

Packet 3 sent: 14th Aug

Medical: 20th Aug

Interview: ????

Last week (Thurs 29th Aug) I called the Embassy [020 3608 6998] and was told that they had everything necessary to schedule the interview and I should hear something within a week.  I called them this morning and the lady I spoke with said she didn't have access to any additional information (just the stuff I can see at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-GB/users/sign_in; i.e. nothing!)

If anyone can give me some answers to the following questions it would be much appreciated.

1. How is the typical wait time between medical appointment and interview? Usually it takes 4 weeks or a little bit longer

2. How can you contact the Embassy to check the status? (is there another phone no or email address? the one above seems pretty useless!) My fiance and I both tried the phone which was extremely frustrating. I found contacting the Department of State helpful but also we did contact the embassy directly using http://london.usemba...ntact_form.html and telling them our information such as my fiance full name, dob, LND number, when he had his medical and when he sent all his info requested in his 3rd packet back to the embassy(pretty much everything I thought thought that would help them find him)

3. I assume the 'Status Updated Date' on the US DoS website gives you an indication of when anything happens on your case?  Mine says 27th Aug, which I assume is when the Medical results were received? Might be, but could be any reason they update the website, doesn't hurt to contact and ask them really but don't harass them..some people do ;) I joked about this with a worker at DOS when I called one time  :P

4. How do you receive notification of your interview date?  Email or letter in the post?  If it's an email can someone let me know the address so I can add it to my safe senders list!

Well because I sent the email we shortly after our 4 week wait got an email back about a request on the status of our case and they told my fiance they sent him his 4th packet on such and such date. Sadly the email I cannot confirm if its the same for anyone that contacts them so I would suggest if you do contact them it takes 5 days or longer to get a reply so just check your spam folder etc in the mean time while you wait.

Any advice gratefully received.  I've been pretty patient throughout this whole process but I am starting to lose it now!

Its going to be okay! Woosa! :D

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBooking a medical whilst visa is 'in transit'?
As long as you have your LND number from NVC and your police report you should be able to book your medical :) Also they usually schedule a date and time for you when you call.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGetting an interview date

I am at the stage where I want to book a visa interview date and pay the fee for it. As far as I DID understand it I should send the DS forms along with the 2001 (which I have done) and wait for the embassy to send me an interview date. (which I am doing)

However, this whole website thing has now confused me. Am I wrong to wait for a date? am I supposed to do it myself on the new website? is that the only way to do it?

I have created an account on www.usvisa-info.com but I cannot 'add applicant' as I do not have my 'post assigned appointment date'. I do not know what this is or where I find this information. Is this the actual interview date they are asking for? if so, how can I book an interview if I need the interview date? I MUST be missing something here.

I also tried to use the https://ceac.state.gov/ceac website mentioned here but it asks for an invoice ID#. Where do I get that information? Do I need to use this website at all?

Thank you for any help

Robert

LOL thats exactly all the same questions I have in my head :P
