I am trying so hard to not keep going to the USCIS website but it's really hard. I have a horrible cold and stayed home from work today, and that gave me WAY too much time to think about this.

I wish we had a huge day--tons of approvals flooding in. I miss those days. Sigh.

H_charara7, didn't you say in another thread that October was a big month in past years?

On the good news front--hopefully we'll get updated processing times tomorrow!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmy journey starts today!
Welcome and good luck!

If it's at all reassuring, 6 months is actually an improvement--up until that change, the "outside" date for processing times was at February 1, 2008 (which was almost 8 months by the time they changed it). You will likely have your petition approved before then!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont update processing dates
Since before this change we had cases from February 2 considered "within the timeframe," this change to six months is great. This works to our advantage--you can now have your Congress people get involved 6 months after your NOA-1 date, whereas before you had to wait until the your date was outside of their date range. This is better for us, not worse.

In other words, April 20 filers would have had to wait at least two more months to be considered outside of the normal processing times before (based on the movement of 1 month forward each update, with Feb. 1 as the date they had showed). This change made all February, March, and most April filers out of date so they could take action. That's a good change.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa out of date?
Hi Guys

I wonder if anybody can be of any help?

I got my packet 3 on 6th April, it was sent a few days before this I believe.

A week later there was a death in my family, and a lot of upheaval and change. Because of this, we neglected the visa to sort out funerals and wills and houses and all sorts of other things. Then I wanted to stay at my mothers house for a while to keep her company and get her back to normality, then my fiance switched jobs and had a bit of an upheaval there too.. basically we haven't sent back the packet 3 forms yet.

Now things are settled, he is happy in his new job and the estate has been dealt with, my mother urging me to carry on and get moving over there. But I am ever so worried that we left it too long and the visa has expired. I'm also not sure if we even have the full packet anymore, there has been so much moving around and paperwork everywhere... it's a bit of a mess.

I considered getting in touch with the embassy and telling them we never got the paperwork - or just telling them the truth.. I just don't know what's for the best.

I want to be over there with my fiance ASAP, I miss him so much and the past few months have been so traumatic... but have we left it too long??

I understand you being upset about your case taking a long time, but it's not on to question the validity of someone else's case. If you don't know the situation, don't judge it--and remember that people fall in love at all ages.

USCIS Service CentersService Center Processing Times Update Today?
The sites have been updated now (yay!)--they now read "6 months." Here's the explanation:

"The table shown below is intended to be a tool for customers to view our processing times. When applications and petitions are completed within our target timeframes, those timeframes will be shown (example: 3 months). If we are not meeting our target timeframes a date will be shown (example: April 16, 2008)."

I'm not sure what is going on with the sites--they were updated on Sept. 15 (at least, California was), but then at some point they reverted to this July business. Weird.

Hello Captain Ewok,

Well, I'm getting all of my documents together and once I get signed papers back from my fiancee in the Philippines I'll be sending my package in to the Nebraska Service Center since I live in Washington State. Yes I will begin a timeline when I do that. I noticed there is no timeline for the I-129F when I click the processing times. Just straight timelines for I-129. I'm sure it's probably similar to the other service centers but was just curious why no timelines are posted for I-129F in Nebraska Service Center. If you know, great. If not your humble opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Steve

All I-129F petitions go through California or Vermont--they no longer go through either Nebraska or Texas (that's why there is no timeline posted for that service center). If you read through the I-129F application, it will tell you exactly where to send your petition. Good luck!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Not sure if my parents need to file a waiver...please help...

There is NO waiver available for parents of a USC.

In the recommendation you quoted, the person advised that the father become a USC and then apply for a waiver, not that the OP file a waiver for her mother. I believe the "no waiver for parents" bit is clear.

United KingdomDo i need to be employed when i go for my interview?
My fiance had to give three months notice for his job, and it looks like he'll be done in late October (since he's in retail, it doesn't make sense for him to leave just before Christmas). We were a little worried about money, but then we realized that ultimately it's better for him to have some time with family and friends before moving to the States. We're still worried that our petition is going to get stuck at CSC, but--with having to give three months notice--we didn't want him to have to rush through it all. If we DO get stuck at CSC, he can always move back to London and stay with his parents while we wait...

So yeah, in your situation quitting seems like a good idea. Enjoy life!

There are some excellent answers on here--excellent, and entertaining! Thanks all.

To be clear, Spurs would be fine on this front anyway--I just wondered what would happen if someone answered honestly that they had taken drugs. Misspent youth and all that!

So even though we're still waiting on the NOA2, I was looking over the Packet 3 materials (thanks Nichole and Jason!) and noticed that they ask if the beneficiary has ever "misused or abused" drugs. Not trying to get anyone into trouble here (this is purely hypothetical--seriously!), but I'm curious as to how people have responded in the past. Would recreational drug use mean anything? I know the best policy is to always tell the truth, but this seems kind of tricky...

So far, along with all the other time we've missed together, there's been HIS birthday, the 4th of July, MY birthday, Larob Day weekend, Autumn foliage here in New England, and it looks as though we'll be missing Thanksgiving Day with my family too. Guess we'll miss Christmas?

HOW DO YOU GET THE D*** INTERVIEW IN LONDON??????

He sent the final packet on the 9th of SEPTEMBER!!!!!!! We've gone through OCTOBER and will be going into NOVEMBER! EIGHT MONTHS is a long time to wait.

One time he actually got through to a person in the embassy who told him it was IN THE PIPELINE -- this was weeks ago and we are STILL WAITING. He's done everything -- police report, medical, all forms......everything........he simply needs THE INTERVIEW. Is something going on at that embassy that they are not scheduling interviews? Does anyone know? Is there anything we can do? Final Packet RECEIVED IN LONDON AND SIGNED FOR ON 9TH SEPTEMBER 2008 -- HOW MUCH LONGER UNTIL THE INTERVIEW? crying.gif

I would definitely get in touch with your elected officials ASAP--call your Congressperson and Senator and ask them to intervene. Your situation definitely sounds out of the ordinary... I'd follow up.

cca downloaded her packet three and got ready on her own as her proper packet three wnet missing in the post. the ldn number is what you need for the medical and for your interview (to book it) it wont change from what nvc give but i presume you must wait untill it has at least landed at the embassy. otherwise they wont know who or what you are. as far as medical they like you to have packet three so they can go through the bumph with you and for the questionaire. also they send it onto the embassy after a couple of days. hence the need for the ldn number. so i would say you can speed it up to a certain point, but wait till the embassy has your file.

if i'm wrong someone correct me please innocent.gif

We have our London case number now (yay!) and the lovely woman at NVC said our file should be sent out tomorrow (Friday) or early next week. I'm still worried we're going to go into some sort of AP, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

So my question... How far in advance do you schedule your medical? If London gets our file on Monday, should Spurs go ahead and call so that he can get in soon after the Packet 3 arrives????

I agree with the above posters--it would actually be a great opportunity for your son to live in the UK, so this could be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully the economy will recover sooner rather than later, and then you could think about moving back to the States--your decision now doesn't have to be permanent (as we keep reminding each other!!!).

Don't necessarily believe that--I got that message (which apparently became standard after 7/7), but they replied a couple days later. Weirdly, the next time I emailed I got a totally different email, which basically said they would get back to me in a few days and not to harass them or they'll delete all my emails!!!

Hi Hannah,

Spurs and I sent the packet back just a couple days after you did, and we found out today that we have an interview date in December. We had written on the forms that we wanted to get married in early January, so they did accommodate that. I had emailed the embassy--that's how we found out the date--so that might be a good option for you! Let them know that you want to fly over in February and ask if you can move the date up--it seems likely they'll adjust yours.

Good luck!

QUOTE (Nich-Nick @ Dec 16 2008, 09:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Your email takes the place of the appointment letter.

This is the list of documents http://www.usembassy...iv/docs169.html but you should already know that

Make copies of things you want back, like your birth certificate. They will examine the original and keep the copy for the file.
You don't have to copy your passport. You get it back with the visa inside.

2 passport photos must be US sized.

Check your keys, cell phones, and any electronics at the Chemist down the street before you get in line.

Take cash to pay for the visa and the courier. They take pounds or US dollars for the visa fee. Courier is pounds.

Phew--that is a HUGE relief! We already have copies of everything and cash (both $$ and ££), thanks to VJ. I can go to sleep much more easily now!

Thanks again for all the help--we really, really appreciate it. Hopefully we'll be back on tomorrow with good news...

Hi all,

We found out by email on Friday that our interview is scheduled for today/tomorrow, December 17. Apparently that did not give them time to send out a packet 4 for us--it's no where to be seen.

Can anyone tell us a.) what was in the packet, and b.) how essential it is for the interview?

Thanks!!

I was allowed in on Wednesday (the 17th) with my fiance--I hadn't cleared it in advance, just showed up with my U.S. passport and there were no questions or hesitations at all. In fact, I think it made the whole thing go more easily.

After reading this thread and much discussion, we've decided to go with a smart shirt and new sweater (I think Spurs just wants a new jumper, to be honest!). We figure that it'll make him feel more confident, even if it doesn't matter to them at all.

United Kingdomupdated, signed, letter of intend for embassy.
When you get to your actual interview, the interviewer will have you complete a form where you write in your fiance's complete name and then sign an affirmation that you intend to marry him. They never even asked about our intent forms, and (as far as I remember) they weren't included on the list of things to bring with you to your interview. So all that to say, I wouldn't worry about it at all!!!

Congrats and it must be good to finally have it over and done with. Funny about being told NO about picking up the visa the same day as Pete did ask at the information desk and was told yes, he could wait. Maybe someday we'll find out for sure.

We're still waiting.....................

If he asked at the SMS desk, they might have been the ones to say it was possible--we got the "no" from one of the British consular employees. The thing is, they tell you the visa can take up to five days for processing, so I'm not sure how same day could be guaranteed by SMS. So confusing!

New Englander, I hope you hear something soon--our fingers are crossed for you guys!
