well kids - got it - APPROVED!!!! got it on the way home from work, sitting at an intersection "hmm... lemme check one more time." biggrin.gif

i know it's much easier from this end of things, to know that they are actually getting through the apps, but boy when i've stared at that same date for forever - it's hard.

so i'm thinking AWESOME thoughts for everyone who's still waiting!!!!!!!!!! you guys are all close - closer than you think - and certainly closer than it may feel.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Yaaaayyyy!!! Congratulations!!!!

Good luck to everyone still waiting--I hope you hear updates soon!

Just checking in with my fellow Junies--I'm surprised (and sorry) to hear that nothing much has happened this week. Hopefully tomorrow will be huge! And keep in mind that it looks like a lot of people are getting late notices--it seems like we're ending the week really poorly, but then they trickle in over the next week or two.

Good luck you guys!!!

Villa, did CSC notify you via e-mail of your NOA-2, or did you just see it when you logged in? Anyone else approved in the past couple days?

No email at all--I just saw it on the site. I checked the junk mail folder and everything, but nada.

WAHHHHH-HOOOOO!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

I had stayed up until past midnight checking the USCIS site before giving up and going to sleep, but I woke up a few minutes ago after having a dream that we were approved. I came on here, then gave in and checked USCIS. WE'RE APPROVED!!!! We were approved yesterday (10/28). I immediately called Spurs, who I think is fairly certain that this process is driving me nuts. I think he's right! whistling.gif

Now here's hoping that the rest of you get good news soon, our files actually make it to NVC and make it out again quickly, and we all have speedy and fruitful interviews at our respective embassies!!!

aww see i told you it would happen soon for you! I was very happy when I saw your name at the top ;-)

Also a few more comments:

1. It seems most of the people being approved have timelines of around 130 - 135 days. So if your timeline is in that range.. lookout it could be any day for you! (my 130 day comes on Nov 4th.. I'm hoping for a great new president and my approval to make for a fantastic day!)
2. Did everyone notice we got a lot of late last week approvals posted? I think we went from 11 to 14. So Cal is working, its just CSC visa journey people are slow to update. (I finally broke the 140-149 range after two weeks.. 138 Igors now whew!!!)

We were at 122 on Igor's when we were approved--usually the oldest filers who are out of range are deleted when USCIS updates their site, but that didn't happen this time (perhaps because it went to 6 months instead of a date?). So don't worry if you're still low--people are getting approved in the low 100s now!

Good luck annax, RyDa, Stepha, and everyone else--we're pulling for you!

Nothing to report here... still no touches or approvals or RFE's.

I think the date you are in June doesn't matter so much anymore... so who knows when everyone will get processed!

Hopefully after the election it'll speed up. Until then, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It's too depressing!

Have a great week!

i know this might sound like a silly question, but how does the election slow down/affect the processing?

A poster has a contact (brother-in-law, maybe?) at USCIS who said that they had shifted resources to approve a backlog of citizenship applications so that newly-minted citizens could vote in the election. By now, however, it seems unlikely that anyone could register, so hopefully they've sent them right back to I-129F adjudication!

^^^^^^^^^^^^
lets hope this is true, thanks for the info!!! good.gif

Voting rights? My question is, when my sweetie moves here in the next couple months, when or how will she
get the right to vote?

Cheers,
Scott

Only citizens can vote, so it will be quite a long time before any of our spouses can...

Why are we so quick to dismiss the lawyer? He may have overstated the claim that he knows the adjudicator who personally would be working on his client's petition, but we can't say that he doesn't have contacts amongst the adjudicators or inside CSC. We don't know. Layoffs are a possibility--we have no idea. Unless we have evidence proving otherwise (or, more specifically, disproving his account), the lawyer's comments are possible, even if they're not probable.

I really hope he's wrong, but we can't know for sure. All we can do is hope that we see lots of approvals around the corner.

yea i feel you, Its a very painful process, thats for sure!

But in your case, I honestly think your approval is right around the corner. hmm maybe tomorrow or by monday?

actually, I think more people have been looked at then you think. If you look at the recently updated people in the list (which includes a number of late may/early june people) you will notice a number have received RFEs. (you have to actually click on their timelines, it doesnt show RFEs on igors list page until it hits the "RFE Reply(s)" stage.)

So those people have been looked at, so more people are being processed then you think. (even in our small sample).

even still.. i hope this week picks up.. 3 approvals by thursday is pretty meh.

I'm just remembering the glory days of July when there were 30-40 approvals per week (even one week with over 50!); how I miss those days! Again, I just don't want to start getting my hopes up too high. I'm already at the point where I jump whenever I get a new message notification on my email... and it makes waiting this out so much harder! Ah well--here's to hoping! (goes to get drink)

prolly catching up for the Monday when they were off.

but i think its moving even faster than that, because last week i checked the date and it was May 20!

almost 25 days processed in less than a week? thats awesome!

We should probably be cautious--those are VJ estimates, not what CSC is actually doing. It's good news, though--but we have to be cautiously optimistic I'd say!

But the VJ estimates are based on actual approvals that we are witnessing in these threads

Right, but we've all also seen that there haven't been too many approvals in the past few weeks, and there are lots of May filers still waiting (even though it says June 7). Basically, I'm just trying to stay realistic for my own sanity--I don't want to expect that the approval will come in the near future and then have to be disappointed constantly over the next month. It was a lot easier when May filers started getting approved--then I knew June was around the corner. Now that June is here (but moving sllooooooowwwlllyyyy), I don't want to overestimate when I should expect something.

I'm still thinking it will be at least a few more weeks until I'm going to start REALLY hoping for the petition approval--I can't see them moving through June too quickly (although based on Igor's List, I think there were considerably more May filers on here than June). Well, I must confess I saw this bright side also, at least I tried to see it , but I am more scared that it will take them X months to come back to our case. I'll have to check at others the period between RFE and NOA 2. Anyway I am really really upset.
I had a busy day at work and some problems and to end the day with such news....not encouraging at all... mad.gif

From what I've seen, they move pretty quickly once they get your stuff back--it looks like it stays near the top of the pile on your adjudicator's desk, so hopefully it will be really fast!

Has anyone seen an explanation as to why CSC is so far behind. It seems they're always behind. I mean if their receiving more apps. then why aren't they increasing staff. Just thinking out loud, I'm a July filer, but it does make me cranky when I think about the time involved. It seems the Immigration office has raised their application fees about 100% in the last 2-3 years, unfortunately they didn't raise their quality of service.

On their site they make it seem like they're changing their priority more to other visas with quotas to meet since we're right at the end of the fiscal year.

So the optimist in me says we should be seeing more approvals in much larger quantities at the end of the week or next week as a new fiscal year begins.

Where do you see something about priority and quotas? Have a link? I think theyre probably fast tracking people who are trying to naturalize in time for the election. I had a friend who went through that recently, was told a wait time of a year and then managed to complete the process and have the ceremony in a few months time. She filed her paperwork well after I did. It would seem k-1's are pretty low priority looking at the processing times for other types of cases. It could be worse though check this one out >.<:

I-829 Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions Removal of lawful permanent resident conditions (immigrant investors) based on PL107-273 September 10, 1997

1997....wow....

Has nothing to do with the elections, as it doesn't give them a pay raise, so they're not going to adjudicate any faster due to elections. It's based upon quotas and especially the fiscal year.

In fiscal year 2007, USCIS received 1.4 million applications for naturalization; nearly double the volume received the year before. USCIS is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new employees, to address this workload.

Last year's application surge did not impact USCIS offices evenly across the country. Although most offices have already processed cases received during the 2007 filing surge, a handful of offices will have a small percentage of their 2007 cases pending at the end of Fiscal Year 2008. That will result in processing times longer than the 10-12 month national average. USCIS will continue to shift resources to ensure that all local offices achieve the goal of five month processing times.

Dunno how else to put it, other than they have a higher volume of pending naturalization cases and thus shifting their resources to meet those quotas -- based upon fiscal year, not the elections.

So, once again, the optimist in me says things will get better for us May and June filers pretty soon.

yeah its pretty depressing seeing filers with noa dates before april getting noa2 in 4 months time, whereas its up to 5 months now for recent ones. =/

I'm just really hoping SRVT is right... Hopefully we'll see things moving quickly!!!

It looks like the average processing time for CSC is 149 days right now, so--while this SUCKS--we should definitely be in the home stretch. Hopefully some CSC June filers will start seeing approvals toward the end of October!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one--I feel particularly anxious today. We're really lucky--we get to see each other more than most--but this wait is just killing me. I've had a really long week at work and every night when I've been driving home I can't stop myself from wishing that he would be there to help me decompress. Gah.

I have no idea what to hope for--I don't want to start freaking out when it doesn't come as expected! We're hoping that Spurs can start classes at my university in January, so ideally everything could be done by then, but it's looking less likely by the day. sad.gif Ah well--we'll just do our best to stay patient and hope that we get sorted soon!!!

Have any of you thought about making wedding plans yet?

I'm not a June filer, but I thought I'd give you a heads up. Have you talked directly with the university about your plans? Typically they don't accept enrollment unless the person is a greencard holder unless that person files as an international student (and for the appropriate student visa). Not to mention you're going to pay out of state tuition until your hubby has permanent residency. I looked into this stuff closely when my SO was looking to do the same, and we had to postpone our hopes for this for awhile.

Luckily for us it's all sorted pretty easily--I'm on faculty, so he has a tuition waiver and thus we don't have to worry about any of that. Coming in on a K1 visa is fine--he can start before we adjust status or anything. Basically, as long as we're married by the second week of classes (our last add date) he can immediately enroll. I have taken to referring to this as my $20K/year raise whistling.gif
