I wasn't able to see my case online until my Biometrics letter came.

It will tell you that in the NOA...even though I continued to try until I received the Bio letter tongue.gif

Quick question I can't recall...

Is the 1 year extension from the NOA1 valid from the NOA1 date or from the expiration of our GC ?

Good question!

But, I'm hoping we don't have to worry about that, and we'll all be approved in 4-6 months tongue.gif

And good Lord, I check this morning and come back 2.5hrs later and it's two pages longer than when I left! laughing.gif

So, had my biometrics appointment. It was pretty painless other than the 9 hour roundtrip of driving. Appointment was at 3:00 but I got there early at 2:00 and there was nobody else there waiting so the lady took me in right away and did it. Maybe took 15 min. max. Fill out a form, confirm your info, take fingerprints - some of my fingers were hard to read but eventually she got some acceptable scans, then a quick picture and out the door and a 4.5 hour drive home.

Now we wait for months laughing.gif

It's nice to get it out of the way though...even though it was a long drive.

ALEXANDRIA? I had no idea there was an office there - now how come I ended up at Fort Belvoir the last time I did biometrics for the AOS? I live in Centreville/Chantilly so Alexandria would obviously be closer

Same one...just has an Alexandria address. It's not in Olde Town (thank goodness! I'd hate to think what parking would be like!) I should have gone on a day off just to see if I could have gone earlier.
I did get there about an hour beforehand, and they didn't care about the time.
Oh, and they've expanded the inside. All of the fingerprinting is behind glass now in a separated room.

The lady was definitely funny...looked at my address and said "Berryville huh...you drive far. Ever go to Charles Town casino???" laughing.gif
My answer was "But of course!" tongue.gif biggrin.gif

John and I aren't photo people either...so I had my mom send me some pics that she took and insisted on having when she came to visit or when we met them in Vegas.

Speaking of envelopes...I sent a bunch of copies of those, some from each Christmas we were married and Anniversaries.

Had my biometrics done today in Alexandria, VA. It was a breeze compared to the last time I went (for AOS). The woman who took them was very friendly and I even made her laugh! Didn't think that was possible for USCIS workers tongue.gif
Anyway, she was able to capture my fingerprints with no problems...for AOS the guy was HORRIBLE and kept getting the 'failed' message. She kept on going and when she was doing my last finger said, "I'm pretty good huh?" after not missing one, the last one came up 'failed' laughing.gif I told her she jinxed herself.

All in all done within 45minutes. good.gif Oh and there were no guards there this time. Weird.

CanadaSocial Security Card Bah Humbug!
Yup, whatever you use as your name, is what they go by.

Don't worry about changing it until you have your EAD (which also can be used for your SSN as you'll be legal to work, and they will have to unlock it).

I still use my maiden name, but whenever I filed, I put down my married name in the section of "any other names used", as most people just assume that I go by my married name (although never official smile.gif )

CanadaWhat's For Dinner - Part Deux

Tonight we are having bbq. I have some baby back pork ribs coated with rub, and have some drumsticks soaking in a brine solution and will smoke them on the bbq this afternoon, then coat them with my homemade bbq sauce. I have made a potato salad to go with it, and we will also have baked beans. I cannot wait!

So I guess we know who's going to host the BBQ when you move up here :D

I admit, I LOVE BBQing...John doesn't like cooking, the BBQ is mine. I picked it out, I bought it, and I do all the cookin' on it.

Haven't used it in a while. Maybe I'll do ribs this weekend.
