Today's vent:

The faucet knob in our tub fell off this morning. I tried to put it back on, but it wasn't having any of that. I emailed the landlord and hopefully he'll get it fixed tomorrow.

It's a pain in my #######. We can only turn on the water with pilers on a plastic piece that could break at any time. Annoying. ><

Ugh, my last apartment was like that, and I could not stand our landlords (or as John called them...the Asshats), who lived 10 miles away, were never reliable and ended up cheating us out of some our deposit money.

My new landlords live right next door, and are the best.

Hope you get your faucet fixed soon without any issues smile.gif

Lol I know exactly what you're talking about. I was in Windsor to spend the day with my wife's family and all the people on the news from CBC and stuff were kind of laughing at how it was such national news that the East Coast got slammed with snow. Guess you Canadians are hard core when it comes to complaining about snow haha.

I loved all of the snow!

I'm actually quite surprised at how well Virginia (at least around where I live) has coped with it.
I remember quite a few years ago when Mayor Mel Lastman had to call in the Canadian forces when they has less snow than what we got on Saturday. And the rest of Canada laughed at him laughing.gif

Still trying to get my car out, but luckily I don't have to work today, and John has the truck (which he dug out yesterday to go Christmas shopping).

My car yesterday morning laughing.gif

My husband's ex-wife calls him. Every. Freaking. Day. I understand they have kids together, but this seems a tad excessive to me. Maybe I am being too sensitive, but it annoys me.

Not excessive at all. I had the same problem when hubby and I were dating, then engaged. His ex-gf would call him all of the time. Finally I said end the conversations or I'm gone. He finally told her that they had to end all communication (she was doing it to try and get him back the whole time) and she freaked. So him being the 'nice' one thought maybe he should slowly stop.

I didn't agree.

She finally backed way off.

But I know exactly how you feel.

I absolutely hate my job and my boss!

Boss happens to be a 'friend' but lately has been making me want to rip my hair out.

He's a horrible manager, chews me out for stuff that I shouldn't be chewed out about, when he's done much worse and has even tried to blame me for.

PLUS, we're in the same re-enacting group, of which I am the now secretary on the board of directors...the position he held previously.
He was supposed to hand over the books a YEAR ago and still hasn't done it. And now I've found out that he's talking about me behind my back to other board members who proceed to tell me everything because they cannot stand him anymore (takes a breath).

Of course, I cannot bring any of this up with him, because I know he's the type who will not separate work from personal and would probably fire me over it.

Every day I wake up dreading having to deal with him, and end up with a massive headache during the day after I have dealt with him.

Argh!

I so need a new job laughing.gif

Sorry to hear things aren't going well Necrotica sad.gif

I know how you feel about having someone who isn't financially responsible. If I let John do any of the financial stuff, we'd be filing for bankruptcy, and running from collections.
But, he knows that he's horrible at it, and knew that if things were going to work and his credit was going to get any better, he'd have to give up any rights to dealing with finances.

Also feel your pain about employment and money situations.

I hope everything works out for you.

My vent for the day...

When you are at a client's to discuss offsite backups because their current backups aren't working, and then while doing a restart of their server, the hard drive fails. wacko.gif

Some days I wonder what I have done to deserve this...

Driving to work, my head just started pounding...then sharp pains in my right temple and now my eyes hurt, and I feel like I'm going to be sick.

GREAT...migrane. And I can't go home because John and I commute in together and he can't leave.

And why oh why must this client have fluorescent lighting that is really really bad! Not helping whatsoever.

Wish I had my bed, my kitty to cuddle up beside me, and a DARK room to go to right now...oh and DRUGS.

*sigh* this is going to be a long day sad.gif

So been a while again, but just some news to post....BROKE MY FREAKIN BIG TOE!

John and I were 'sparring' at TKD (non-contact...ha!) and we both kicked at the same time. I kicked his ankle and CRACK! I heard it, he actually felt it. :crying:

Funny, my big toe doesn't hurt as much as the index toe that I severely sprained and looks deformed. So I get to do the crutch thing for a little while. Good thing we just did belt testing and I already know my form for the next belt so I won't fall too behind :D

I've had that happen before Marylin...don't be surprised if they send you a bill for it.

What will happen is, they will bill your insurance, and realize they forgot the copay because insurance won't pay it. Then they will send you a bill.

John and I did the Cherry Blossoms last year for my Birthday (they always seem to be at peak bloom around my birthday), but there were so many people, that he'll never go again :(

It was gorgeous though!

So just checking in since it's been a while since I've been able to post anything!

Work has been going great! Lots of training, and listening to actual calls with a mentor. Those have been interesting

This will be the end of week 2 of training.

Hubby found out what kind of raise he got. Almost 4%, which is higher than the average employee received, plus he got a $5000 bonus! Half went to company stock, and the other half he'll get inbetween paychecks which will be nice.

It's nice to be able to not worry about how kills are going to get paid.

Glad to hear you're so happy Shaun! :)

I felt the same way when I moved to Berryvilly.

It's so tranquil in so many places around here. Totally different from S. Ontario.

Can't wait until we can have a meetup and discuss different places we like to go to :)

So I finished my second day of training at Navy Federal. The benefits of working for this credit union are awesome!
It's funny, we've been sitting down for most of our HR training and I'm pooped!

Just glad I have a FT job with great benefits, and 10minutes from home.

Think I'm going to enjoy my time with NFCU :)

Missed you Krikit! Glad to hear your mum is doing better :)

At least the weather in NoVA has been nice...going to be close to or at 60deg all this week.

Only thing that scares me is that March has come in like a Lamb, and people have told me that the Almanac has predicted a nasty March....

YAY :) Congrats.

Are you guys still going to the air show in Reading? I'm trying to convince Varba to go this year.

Thanks everyone! :)

Yes, I still will be attending the Reading AirShow, but only on the Saturday right now. Saturday is the busiest day anyway...just hope it doesn't rain :D

Hope you can make it! We're usually the only Canadian group that shows up (there are a couple of other 'Canadian' individuals there) :)

Woo hoo! Congrats Krystin!

Thanks Shaun! :D

If I were FT at my current position, this new job would be well under what I could be making, but I'm not working FT and my paychecks are never the same. This job is more than what I am currently making, but less hourly (about $7 less)

This is FT, a steady paycheck (with Direct Deposit, something which I don't have and is a pain), Great benefits, and the possibility to move up with the company.

And it's a GREAT company....it's Navy Federal Credit Union, so a good place to get my foot in the door :)

So happy right now :D

So I get a call at around 5:30pm yesterday from the HR person, asking me to pick one of the few remaining shift times that they have.

I'm thinking "huh? Ok....."

So I did. I wonder why they would have done that? I didn't get a shift I would have liked (10:30am - 7:30pm Sunday - Friday with Sat and a float day off...I would have rather had an early one)
I did ask if you could switch shifts eventually.

It ws really weird. One one hand I still have to interview, but on the other it sounds like I've already been selected. Sooooo confusing

PLUS I still have to write my essay on "What makes a good employee" Oh this is going to be fun

So I'm expecting a job interview with Navy Federal sometime soon. I 'passed' their assessment test yay me :D and someone called to set up an interview today, but I wasn't home.

Hope to hear back tomorrow (I called back at 5:30pm and she had already left).

It's a call centre job, but full time with benefits, and 15 minutes from home, which outweighs all of the bad call centre stuff

Omg did i ever tell you my Chad Kroeger story????

I was standing outside of the horseshoe in Toronto, and this was when they just started to get big and he walked out and I excitedly said: "Omg! Aren't you the guy from nickelback???" and he looked over and smiled and said: "Ya" and started to walk over and then I yelled: "YOU GUYS SUCK!"

And he stopped in his tracks, gave me the finger, called me a "punk a$$ kid" and got into a van.

I was really hoping that John and I could buy a home soon, but we know that if we did, we'd make our lives even more money stressed.

I guess I'm impatient because I would like to start a family, but I would like to have my own home. This one just fits myself, John and the two cats. I guess we could do it, but someone or thing would have to go.....and John wouldn't be happy sleeping in the car :P :D

Even if they don't have hitting, playing will still be fun!

Arlington county has one (which as you know, is close to Alexandria)

http://www.arlington.../page62828.aspx

I agree TKD is definitely going to help me with hockey. My physical fitness took a nosedive when I moved down here. I used to be in pretty good shape playing AA/AAA women's hockey and Rep Softball (finished 5th in Nationals in 2001).

I'm looking forward to that part.

Plus, with it being in Berryville, we can walk / run / or bike to the school :)

Yesterday was such a whirlwind day!

In our small town, the recession had really hit it hard. A lot of shops and things had closed (and still our...our Movie Gallery is closing :( )
But, we've had a few new things open and it's just really revitalized the town. A new restaurant (we went the other day, and it is sooooooooooooooo good, and fairly inexpensive).

So anyway, a few months ago a new Tae Kwon Do place put up a sign where an old fitness place had gone out of business. John has been talking about doing TKD ever since I met him, as he had started to learn back when he was in the Navy. But the closest places were either in Winchester, or just not close enough. So when he saw this place was going to open, he got all excited.
Yesterday was their grand opening, and we went in to see what it was all about, and how much.
And wouldn't you know it, they were having a special on membership.

So, I had to think about it (since I'm the money manger) and we watched a demo. He kept looking at me and smiling and that (canIcanIcanI look )

I finally gave in, and guess what...We're BOTH doing it!
I'm actually excited. I took Karate when I was younger and loved it, but had to stop because of my committments to hockey.

So, while I would never go to a gym (out of pure laziness), I think TKD will be fun for both of us.

Then, I had a hockey game up in Baltimore. As some of you know, I've been a goalie since I was 6 (I'm 27) and decided to play out this year. The team isn't that good, so I'm one of the better players anyway.
I scored 2 goals! (we lost 7-2), but OMG it was awesome! The second one couldn't have been on a highlight reel

I don't think I'll ever forget that moment :D
