I see alot of October filers are starting to get their NOA2s, even people that filed after me. So I called USCIS today and one of their robots told me they are still working on June filers. Anyone have any advice on this?

OK. AT 5:30 tonight, let's all get into the tantric position and concentrate our thoughts collectively on the CSC. We'll project our thoughts on speediness, and then find out tomorrow if the magic worked. LOL

Can anyone explain how the “timeline” function on this site calculates its results? While you’re viewing forum posts, look to the left side of your screen and you’ll see the poster’s information. Near the bottom of that person’s info are the words “my timeline”.

There are two of us that have the same exact dates for our NOA1, there’s only one difference- mine is at CSC and the other is at VSC. Yet when I compare mine to the other, mine says: “Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated as early as April 9, 2008*.” When I look at the other it says, “Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated as early as February 27, 2008*.”

Are the CSC and VSC facilities really that much different? Am I missing something in the calculations?

~Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong~ content.gif

No word on my file, no touches, emails.. zilch! My partner (he's actually from Australia) is getting very impatient.. We live in England atm and are wanting to move back to Texas where all of my family are, get married have the white picket fence.. 2.5 kids.. you know the story..! Although, we've been living half of that dream for the past four years now!

It's nice to see that some October filers are receiving approvals well before the max 6 months tho! Especially ones who have filed with Vermont SC.. woo hoo!! What made those go faster than others though? I know every situation is different, but to those who did get approved within 3-4 months - what helped that?!

Anyway.. Having come on here has helped put my mind at ease a little bit at least.. mainly because I do see progress for other people, it at least gives me a bit of hope that perhaps tomorrow i can open my email up (maybe not though as today is MLK day!!) and find that we've been approved onto the next level!!

We shall see..

Welcome, Halle. Word on the street (lol) is that someone at the USCIS opened the wrong box and started processing October's instead of continuing on with June and July. This is just rumor, of course, and good luck getting anyone at the USCIS to admit to it.

I know the feelings your fiance is having. I have them every day, all day. I check the USCIS website about 15 times a day- I KNOW what he's going thru.

Good luck on your petition- on all of our petitions.

How's everyone doing?

Just finished reading the USCIS testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on January 17, 2008. Here's a paragraph from it:

Where Does this Take Us?
This surge will have a serious impact on application processing times for the next couple
of years. As a result, based on our response plan, most customers will wait much longer
to have their applications completed. As we have reported, the average processing time
for naturalization applications has increased from the current average of seven months or
less to approximately 18 months. Family-based adjustment-of-status applications
increased from the current average of six months or less to 12 months. Our two-year
response plan will help us accomplish reducing processing times to six months by the
third quarter of Fiscal Year 2010.

Here's the full release: http://www.uscis.gov...ETG_17jan08.pdf

Now are you pissed (LOL)????

Thanks, our cheque was cashed not cancelled and I do have a picture of the cheque from our bank and I see the recepit number you are talking about (mine starts with EAC) but I cant seem to make out the numbers and when I try them on that link you sent me, it says invalid number so I'm just trying to rearrange the numbers.... all the 8s's look like they could be 8's or 6's.... lol. I'm assuming that they'll eventually send me a notice with what the number really is... right?
[/quote]

Well, from what I've read on this site, some people have never received a hardcopy NOA1 in the mail, but they were notified via email. You should, though, receive a notice in the mail stating your case number. It will include the date received by the Service Center and the date of the notice.

We filed back in October for our K-3 visa by sending in our I-130 to VSC and our cheque JUST got cashed (Jan 14). Does this count as a NOA1? Whether it does or doesnt, I'm just happy that our 130 actually made it to someone, for the past 3.5 months we didnt even know if it was lost, stuck somewhere at the bottom of a postal truck!

Take a look at the back of your canceled check. Is there an account number that you can make out? It will usually start with three letters. Mine starts with WAC, for instance. Take that number and go here: https://egov.uscis.g.../jsps/index.jsp

Set up and account to view your status online.

Congratulations. I'm so envious and apprehensive and angry at the same time. My 1st NOA is dated 10/10/2007 and I've not even had a touch, yet. Who'd you bribe to get it done so quickly? LOL

I hope I didn't make a mistake today, but I phoned the USCIS and told them that I know of two persons who filed after me and already have their 2nd NOA. I implied that mine was lost and the rep turned ugly on me- down right rude. It ticked me off so I wrote an email to my state's Senator. I hope this isn't an oops on my part.

Anyway, congratulations, again. I know the apprehension that has been totally relieved from you now.

I am looking here: http://moscow.usemba...v/ivinterv.html and then using the browser search function, searching for (private number) as it instructs. Not finding anything. Even searching for just MOS finds only the samples they give, so maybe they aren't posted?

My letter from April 29th says it is approved and will be sent to Moscow Embassy within a week. Adding a week for DHL gets us to mid-May, so I thought something would be posted by now.

I emailed the embassy, but haven't heard back other than the automated response directing me to the aforementioned web site.

Ideas? Suggestions where to look?

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusProof of being single for interview
I have never heard of such a thing, or related requirement, but my fiancee stopped by the marriage office in Russia and they said they can give her a paper saying she has never been married and is not currently registered to be married in Russia. She said it isn't expensive, but the notarized copy is expensive.

Ever heard of such a thing? I told her why not get the non-notarized copy, but she is afraid it's useless if not notarized. Her interview is July 23rd in Moscow and she is worrying herself to death I think!

Registering at OVIR is no big deal. My fiancee did it for me twice. Quick and inexpensive, sorry I don't remember the amount, but it wasn't much. Office was out of the way and we had to go get additional copies once. Might find a copy place close since they seemed to add copy requirements. I would copy your passport, visa, invite letter etc. before going. Forms were only in Russian as well.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusApostile for diploma's
My wife was a teacher in Russia and is interested in teaching in the US. The company that does the degree evaluations wants her diploma's with Apostile, from the Russian dept of Education. In checking their site they say you can send the original documents in, along with a notarized copy. (or bring them in personally of course) They don't list fee's for sending them back and companies that my wife has contacted won't ship sensitive documents like passports or official diploma's.

Anyone have any experience with getting an apostile for education doc's once you are in the US?

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMIL Visa

If I understand what you are asking, you might do a combination. A B-2 tourist visa would be the fastest way to get her here for awhile. The B-2 my MIL has is a five year, multi-entry visa. She can spend six months at a time here.

1) Get the B-2 if possible, to remove MIL from the apartment where safety is an issue.

2) Maybe rent her a place to stay when she has to go back.

3) Wife sponsors her immigration ASAP.

The offer of property to the abusive son might also help. My understanding of property law there suggests that both MIL and her son, and maybe your wife, have an ownership interest in the flat where they live. If that is the case, have them tell the son that if he takes care of mama until she can immigrate, he will get 100% of the flat free and clear. That is a huge incentive for him that costs your wife nothing, assuming the apartment was transferred from the state and not purchased.

The threat is that if mama is scared or hurt, your wife can make it impossible for him to ever sell the flat. She can also maybe sublet her portion to some one else. He won't want that. All of this would take loads of effort from your wife, but he probably doesn't understand that either.

Good suggestions, thanks.

Parents purchased the flat, after her death my wife gets it, BUT her brother has rights to live there. Basically she has to pay and he lives there free :) So, losing this flat may not be that bad option.

My wife doesn't want her to come on a tourist visa, since she may not have anything left when she returns. Maybe renting her a place there is an option.

Thanks and all other suggestions welcome!

Should have explained that I did read the post...

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSending money to Russia since Crimea situation?

Hey folks,

We have been sending small amounts of money to my MIL on a Walmart/GreenDot money card. It's a 'student pack' so there are two cards with the same #. It has worked well for the last 3 years.

Now it won't work since the US blocked a Russian bank. Not sure if it's Russia retaliating or other banks being careful, but they won't let her withdraw money. They can see balance, and charge for the privilege, but she can't withdraw. Called GreenDot and all they said was ty other banks. Did that and it didn't work.

Any ideas that are still easy? Western Union would probably work, but it's a hassle since neither of us have a convenient Western Union.

Thanks!

Adam

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRFE - joint marital asset evidence

We received basically the same RFE for my wife's permanent green card. Want additional proof of joint indebtedness. Had been on extension, so we hadn't included most recent tax returns. We have one account together but house was mine previously and we have mostly separate accounts. Just because my wife brought money from Russia and I have a business, other assets etc. before our marriage.

I sent in a 1" notebook with tax returns, bills in both names, bank statements, paychecks showing I paid over $10,000 for her heath insurance since marriage, tuition paid by me, additional pictures, car title together(sent before). House loan is our only debt and we aren't big credit card users, so not much there.

They asked about children, which hurt my wife's feelings since we had a miscarriage. Even included proof of that although it's really personal.

They just received it today, so I don't know if it's enough. Hopefully is is because I don't know what else to send!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusFlying from Russia to US, via 3rd countries on K1 visa
Hi, all. Thanks for all the help. Our K1 sailed through and is on it's way to Moscow embassy.

Here's my question. In looking at flights from Moscow to Portland, Oregon some go through third countries. Options include Frankfurt, London, Kiev and of course Moscow to JFK or Washington DC.

Is it possible for her to transit through another country? Some of these countries it would be very hard to get a visa (Great Britain, Germany), while Ukraine I guess is pretty easy for Russians. Not sure on the cost, procedure for Ukraine.

Thoughts? Is this a bad idea?

Thanks!
