You will not regret going to the interview, and when it is approved, the celebration is not to be missed! :P
I agree, it was the plan all along  I believe visa approval will be celebrated with my first trip to Yalta  Her ,I and a few close friends :help: I am very excited for this portion of our journey to come to a close.

Oh, and the "deer in the headlights" phrase has been replaced with the Russian equivilent. "Boiled fish. Eyes open but nothing there" I witnessed it the first time Alla went to the deli counter and ordered "500 grams of roast beef Pazhalsta"

Thats good stuff right there

Thanks everyone for the helpful information. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them, I think. With all the other docs I will be taking, what is 2 more sheets of paper? I just DO NOT want any surprises, no off the wall request's for evidence. I am happy to be able to attend the interview with her. I have been blessed with a generous employer who puts family first.

She thought it strange that I could take so much time off work and still have a job when I returned :) and I made an attempt to explain employee rights to her but I got the deer in the headlights look so I simply said, Do not worry my love, all will be o.k. I have a feeling that will be a mantra for me over the next few years

Thanks again everyone for the info

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusUkrainian Couples... What did you bring?
But seriously,
We talked about shipping some of her posessions over but after doing some more research we saw that sometimes these packages can be held up in customs for weeks even months at a time. It can also be somewhat expensive. We decided that when I go over for the interview I would pack very light, and bring 5-6 empty bags for her to pack her very favorite belongings. The other things could wait until our return trip for our first visit as husband and wife

With each of us able to have 1 cary-on and one personal item and each of us having 2 checked bags each @ 23 kilos each, we figured we could get a good amount of her belongings over that way. 50 Euro for third checked bag and 100 Euro for every bag after that, this could also be expensive but she bought a digital scale and the weights will be checked even before we get to Borispill.

Car in Ukraine? sell it. Dishes? Not sure but if they are precious to her I wouldn't risk shipping or packing in bags. Maybe leave with mother and have them around when you two have your own Dacha somewhere in Yalta

Good luck

Well folks
the interview was a breeze,we waited 4 days for the visa (because of the weekend), we packed her bags and flew back across the Atlantic to continue our life together in Texas.

All is great in our world she is adjusting better than I could have ever imagined. I have had the chance to spend a good amount of time at home and around town with her(work has been a bit slow) but it is truly a blessing to be together at last  .

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Normal NVC Processing Time (No Shortcuts)
There R NO SHORTCUTS so to speak. They(NVC)will keep petition as long as needed, could be a few days could be a month could be longer. Don't ask me why some are held and some are not. It's Government. No formula to predict the outcome

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUkraine embassy: a phone call only with no packets sent?

I have a K-1 fiance visa application in process for my fiance in Ukraine. My I-129F was recently forwarded to the Ukraine embassy. They would have received it this week via DHL. Today (Friday) my fiance received a call from the embassy. They told her they would call her back in 10 to 15 weeks to schedule her interview in Kiev. And they said she could go to a doctor in Odessa for her medical appointment.

But on the phone they made no mention of "packet 3" or "packet 4" or any mailings at all to her.

Another thing that was mentioned is that sometimes fiance visa beneficiaries have to go in for more than one interview in Kiev, and that in general the fiance visa process was "difficult."

All this seems strange for several reasons. I have seen good reviews about the Ukraine fiance visa process elsewhere on this site.

I thought the embassy was supposed to send out the information packet or packets, rather than just to do a phone call.

Is it normal to say to the fiance "we will call you in 10 to 15 weeks and only then can you schedule an interview?"

And, what about the medical? My fiance received no specific information about exactly where she needed to go, although general mention was made about her being able to go to doctors in her town. And there was supposedly no mention from the embassy about what she should do at the doctors office or how much she might have to pay to the doctor.

On Sunday night or Monday early in the morning I plan to phone the $12 per 10 minute line (1-888-826-2340) the embassy has set up to see if I can get some answers.

There's nothing unusual about my application and it was approved by the USCIS and the National Visa Center.

Strange  its not that hard. do not wait for packet 3 if Kyiv received your petition on Friday you may have to wait a full week as we did to get interview. ours was aprox 4 weeks from date they had us in the system

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsone way flights advice??
If you book round trips some airlines will let you book return trip 11 months out. And you may be able to use it for a return visit 11 months down the road it may not go to waste. I will be booking RT for us to insure we make houston POE our final destination. It will however end up being a bit less expensive for the tickets. But the cost of extra luggage im sure will match the cost of the one way ticket  looks like i will be packing very light and taking empty bags from here to there. From Ukraine 1 cary on 1 checked = free. 1st extra cary on and checked 50 euro each next checked bag goes to 100 euro each  Tried to get her to fedex bulk of personal effects but she aint havin it :bonk:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTo Use or Not to use
The thought of skirting the system never really came to mind when I submitted K1. I could not take the stress or the worry of looking over our shoulders waiting for ICE to come a knocking one day. To loose this person in such a way would kill me.
The fact that the people on VJ are only a very small portion of what the USCIS sees in the way of visas is what I keep telling myself. USCIS is supposed to be hear to serv us the USC, we the tax payer support their families and lives. But more and more it is government that is out of control and ignoring the voice of the people.

You are right it is a drop in the bucket of time but it just seems so bass akwards to me. But I would not take the chance of doing it any other way.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTo Use or Not to use
Great advise Gary I will agree with you on all points knowing what I know now thanks to VJ. I need to find better ways to spend ma time while waiting for her to wake up and come to skype  soon her and I will be spending our Friday nights together  and I will hopefully have other things to wrap my mind around. I just find it completely absurd that thousands of people make their way into this country by going around the system and they can be here in a few days, find jobs and live happily ever after. It seems so tempting to go that route. No long lines, no fees and you get to be by the one you love so much faster.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTo Use or Not to use
I see date ranges from less than 60 days to more than 100 days for some. CSC seems to be more consistant with time lines than VSC. I was wondering if there was a connection to use or not to use Attorney to file K1 petition as to length of time. I can not figure out why there are such large gaps in some NOA 2 approvals. I know this is only the beginning of the VJ and I chose to use Attorney and the package that was assembled for our journey was complete and in order. But that was before I even knew this site existed :bonk: . IMHO Knowing what I know now and if I had it to do all over again, I think I would have kept my money in my pocket. I have heard horror stories and positive stories on both ways to go about this process. I would like to see some numbers, maybe it will help future VJ's make an informed choice.

Please share your opinion,
Thanks

They said they shipped to Kyiv on 29 June so on DHL site I typed EXP 29 JUN 2010A for referance And a date range of 29 JUN to 29 JUN but still nothing :( Is EXP correct or is there another prefix for Kyiv ?

Don't worry and keep your head high and shoulders back. Consider no news good news to this point. I noticed that most RFE's come within 90 day range or a bit after. You are over 100 days now. You should have the good news any day now. I will dance a bit 4 ya. it may not help but I know it wont hurt :)

Yes Garnier here is a suggestion but I doubt it is what you want to hear. Speak to your SO every chance you get, go for a visit if possible be patient and let it run it's course. People will say call your senator/congressman and such but the ONLY thing that will make this process any faster is immigration reform and that will take years. You should have NOA2 any day now so keep your hopes up and stay positive. Seems to me that 10% get NOA2 quickly, 80% get it within the projected time and 10 % wait longer than projected time. I called USCIS about 30 times after the 90 day mark and finally got to speak to a supervisor. They read the same script to me as the person before. You are right there within the average time frame according to VJ I am sure it is close.
