Once you have your case number and IIN, you can log onto the payment portal to see when bills have been invoiced. When they appear, you can pay them right away. Since you have a lawyer, both bills will be invoiced at the same time, so both should be available a few days after your case number is assigned.

Hmm, I tried looking at the photograph requirements and couldn't find anything about ears needing to be shown, so you should be okay. If you want, you can re-do them and print them out again, with your ears showing this time. But, I think you should be fine.

thank you. my husband just received the printed NOA2.. telling that they already send the case to nvc... hoping we'll get that invoice asap

 kinda upset. i think it was not really a good idea to hire a lawyer. i told my husband about the requirements he can obtain while waiting for the case number but he refused to do so since he would listen to his lawyer and said just wait. just wait and just wait. tried to explain that we can save time and for the process not to be delayed but still he refused to listen. now this lawyer said she will just send the list of requirements when we already have the case number and we will know the case number on the invoice that will be sent to my husband. i'm really expecting for a 20-day delay. darn!

now i am just wondering, do we really have to wait for the invoice before we can pay the fees? even if we already have a case number and the rest of the numbers needed obtained through calling NVC? :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Wow! Is NVC process worse than USCIS process? I thought the major hurdle was USCIS but it looks from your posts guys it is the way around... :-(

no, i think USCIS is still the Wrse... but the thing with NVC, we have to call them over and over again for updates...

at last! i'm done reading all the posts and replies on this thread.

seems everyone in here have filed the petition without the assistance of a lawyer and I feel like it's a better option since you can have control on what is going on. In my case, I think instead of calling NVC or USCIS to check about our case, I think we have to call our lawyer everyday for her to be aggressive in completing our case. I'm not sure if we will also receive any updates from NVC.

how do I get my husband on the appointment list to come to the interview with me? Do I have to wait until the case has arrived at the embassy or can I call now?

last feb 14 we had a visa hour from the consular's office and someone asked the same question and they said that you don't have to set anther appointment request for the petitioner, he/she can just join you during the interview and it is actually encouraged that petitioners should be with their spouses during interview since the interview is about proving the relationship or legitimacy of the marriage.

She REALLY wants my name on it.
Can she do it after she gets here?

she can go to DFA and ask how long will it take to renew/change her passport... if it will be more than 20 working day, then she has no other choice but to keep her current passport otherwise, changing it might delay the process... in my case, i will just change my passport after... my ID cards are still on my maiden name and changing them also requires longer days...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2013

Where can she do it?? ASAP??

passport renewal here in the Phil can take to up to 1 month... 20-30 working days... i was about to change my passport and use my husband's surname but I was discouraged since it will take me 30 calendar days before I could get it from DFA. besides, they require me to first attend the CFO seminar since i have a foreign husband. But the DFA representative told me that Filipinas have the option to not use their husband's family name in their passport or IDs. And i've read in the Phil embassy's website that it is fine and the name that will appear on the visa will be the same name written on my passport so basically my maiden name. just make sure to bring original copies of marriage certificates esp when traveling to US.

you should take everything you've submitted from the beginning of the application to the interview. BUT all you have to do is make copies of each packet before you send it. You don't need to order more transcripts or have your husband fill out another i-864, just make copies before they're sent and take those copies with you to the interview.

oh okay, so this means that what my husband has submitted will not be sent to me... i mean, i will send the same documents with what my husband has submitted but the thing is... some of the documents that i will send are just copies.

i think i understand it now. :bonk:

we hired a lawyer, but i just really want to know the process. my husband always tell me, leave it to our lawyer but i'm not that confident since he is the only one who talks to her. but anyway, still have to wait. i just got approved yesterday. not much excited.LOL :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Tax information for 2012 isn't needed yet at NVC, so you're fine. But make sure you file taxes soon as your interview will likely be after the tax deadline in which 2012 tax information will be needed at the interview.

If you're going to send 2012 information to NVC, then no, the copy of the tax return doesn't have to be certified. But, for the interview, I highly suggest getting the tax transcript from IRS (as well as bringing the W2s and copy of the tax return).

Thanks for the info Saylin!!

who is going to submit the tax transcripts? the petitioner or the beneficiary? is it needed in completing the affidavit of support?

If you give both email addresses to an operator when a case number is assigned, then you should all receive correspondence by email. But, you'll need to speak with your lawyer about this and not us as they may have their own protocols about dealing with NVC (ie: I've seen cases where lawyers do NOT want the petitioner or beneficiary contacting NVC under any circumstances).

oh okay. good advice. thanks. my husband will call our lawyer tomorrow. we'll probably leave everything to our lawyer and wait for her instructions.

WOW! Was that getting a new passport in hand? Wonder if we should do it? Before or after? She's in Dagupan area.

i've got advice from previous applicants, they said it's okay to use a passport that shows the applicant's maiden name as long as she has the marriage certificate...

i am married and i will be using my passport with my maiden name on it...

You would have to be EXTREMELY lucky to get a case number within 2 weeks from now.

And if you have a lawyer, they're automatically designated as agent, so no, one doesn't send a DS-3032 if there's a lawyer/attorney on their case.

now i think 2 weeks is really impossible :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

So you mean, our lawyer will be the one who will receive instructions from NVC and then possibly forward it to me? and will pay the bill? but of course we have to pay her...

I don't really think location has much to do with it. I was processed at CSC and NVC got my case in three business days. Others come from NBC or VSC and have to wait over a month. I really have no idea what determines it, but it seems to be luck, as does almost everything else with this crazy process. Posted Image

OMG.. i think it will be based on luck? :))

we just got approved today... but i am really hoping that 2 weeks will be the maximum date of waiting for the case number.

For your sister, was she able to select 2012 from the drop down list for which year's transcripts?

And the time frame varies. Once the IRS has accepted and processed the return, then it's available to order. Our return was accepted and processed within about 2 weeks. I ordered it on the very same day.

Please refer to the FAQ ;)

my sister has just called me and said, she made an error in using her husband's SSN in filing her tax... nyay! i think that's the reason why she wasnt able to order it online...

Because you have not changed your passport I would think you should be using your passport name, but they can make the correlation between the two since you are including your marriage certificate in your IV package. No matter what name you put on this, your green card will be in your passport name.

what im planning is to just write my full name... maybe it is safe that way... thanks for the reply...

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)E-mailed Embassy for AP - They got annoyed -_-

Hello There,

Fast forward:

Husband was interviewed on July 17th 2013 and (most likely) like everyone, he was placed in AP and still is.

It has been almost a month now; his case was sent to the DOS on July 17th

--------------------------------------------------------------------> Updated on August 5th

--------------------------------------------------------------------> Updated on August 13th then

I emailed them around the beginning of August, got a response on August 5th which was also when the case was updated.

The first e-mail said the following:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our record indicates that the subject immigrant visa case is still pending under administrative processing. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to predict as to how long it still may take. However as soon as this process has completed, we will contact the applicant using the contact information he/she has provided on his/her form DS-230. Please rest assured that this case has neither been forgotten, nor slipped through the cracks.

If he/she has not heard from our office after six months, please have her contact our office using the web based email form available on the website of the American Embassy.

Yours truly,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Consular Section,American Embassy

Islamabad,Pakistan

I emailed the second time around about August 12th and the case was updated on the 13th of August, BUT look at how they got annoyed...

I know I was annoying for constantly emailing but check this out:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please refer to our email of August 5, 2013. This email clearly indicates the admin processing situation in your case. Our office would like to clarify that unless this situation has changed, there does not exist a reason for us to contact or review your case again. May we also remind that an immigrant visa application cannot be processed any further while the admin processing is pending.

Yours truly,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Consular Section,American Embassy

Islamabad,Pakistan

Any updates on those who have been interviewed in July????

Has anyone else been told as well that the AP will take only about a month????

hello? I would just like to know how did you know that your case has been forwarded to DOS?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpreparing for interview

IMO, just have your wife get a new NBI clearance (valid for 1 year) for 'US VISA' for her interview. Getting ready for NVC stage-I recently went to NBI 2weeks ago and that is what they told me, that if you have a scheduled interview at USEmbassy-better put in for 'US VISA'. Since accdg to them, 'TRAVEL ABROAD' and for 'US VISA' are different and there have been issues that the Consulate requested for another NBI clearance that has for 'US VISA' purposes. Although I got 'HIT'-my NBI clearance is still not available as of now.

'CEMAR' from NSO is valid only for 6 months- get a fresh copy close to her interview date.

It is highly advisable to be always on the safe side to AVOID another unnecessary delays..

hello. do you have to ask your husband for copies of his tax return transcripts?
