hello folks have my interview today at 26 federal plazza in new york.nice lady went true the all documentation then the yes or no questions.after that reading and wrirring test then the civics questions.ihad 6 questions because i gave the right answer so dont need to go to ten.after she said i passed and i will received the oath letter in about 2 wks.thanks everyone wish good luck to dramaqueen coz she/he is also part of ny.dont know now how long will take for the letter and the ceremony.anyone have idea.thx

FlipgalRN :no: How was the parking at The Paramount Thertre? did you do your new passport today ?

The parking was good we went to a parking lot around the corner (which was $10) versus the one right beside the Paramount ($20). I did apply for my passport right after the ceremony. I highly recommend having everything together (application signed, a check or money order, 2 photos, and grey envelope you received at your interview) Also bring a pen (to sign your certificate) and get one of those hard cover naturalization certificate folders that they sell outside ($15). After we received our certificates we had to file out to the main lobby and it was PACKED! It was very crowded so it helps to have that folder (or any hard binder folder) to keep your certificate intact. Also if you are doing passports make a "copy" of your certificate I took a pic of mine with my iPhone so I had one for my records in the meantime. Bring a camera as well as we are allowed to take pictures and there was a photo op with the American flag.

Did my Oath ceremony today I was one of 1009 new citizens and there were 95 countries represented. The ceremony was very touching. They gave us a package (with passport applications, voting info, oath, letter from the president, etc) It was a mad house afterwards lining up for passport applications and voter registration. Looks like I will be back for my husband's ceremony at the end of the month. A little tip to everyone bring a pen! Plus they sell hard cover certificate folders outside the ceremony venue (get one). It's so worth it! Keeps from getting your certificate smashed in the crowd as you file out and apply to vote and get your passport. Posted Image

He didn't get the date yet but should be getting it today or tomorrow. So far the way San Francisco processes the Oath letters it usually is right before an Oath ceremony, so you can pretty much count on the next Oath ceremony as your date. For mine I was placed into the Oath que before the last ceremony in March but was then scheduled to take my Oath the first week of April. Another friend of the family had her Oath 2 weeks after she got her status changed. So you basically wait 2 weeks and you'll be a citizen. At least that's the trend I'm seeing. Posted Image

On April 8, 2013, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. :dance:

After took the test in April1. I received e-mail/text notice status changed today :dance:
On April 8, 2013, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled.

Hi FilipgalRN,
May I ask how long between your interview day (when they told you that you are recommended for approval) and the day that your status is changed to In line for Oath online? 2 week? It's been 2 weeks since my interview date and I have yet to hear anything nor see my status online updated. It still showed "interview". Although i am told that I am recommended for approval, i am still getting a bit worried about all these. Wondering why it takes so long :blush:

For my case it took 2 days (after being approved in my interview) to have my status changed to in "que" for oath, then 10 days after that to be scheduled for my Oath ceremony. My husband who had a "pending" decision waited 10 days for his status to be changed to in "que" then another 4 days until his status changed to Oath scheduled and letter sent. The San Francisco office seems to be very efficient with processing N-400 applications (even the level 2 USCIS officer I spoke with was impressed) I was worried about my Husband's case so I called USCIS and spoke to a level 2 officer and found the Hubby's case was processed and was to be placed in que a day before it was updated online. You can try calling the USCIS to find out the status of your case as well. I'm sure yours will be coming soon too! Posted Image

Hi all,

I wanted to report that my husband passed his naturalization interview. His interview only took about 15 minutes, but he was a bit nervous about the questions. He studied the questions, but the IO seemed to elaborate or want more than just the short responses outlined in the book they give you. It threw him for a loop, so it took additional think time on his end to figure out what she was actually asking for.

Questions asked:
1. Where does the President live? (He was asked to read this question and then write the answer out as a complete answer)
2. Where is the Statue of Liberty (IO asked for elaboration after he answered New York)
3. What event to the equality of different races? (CRM)
4. What is the Constitution?
5. How does the Constitution work?

Also, we filed on the 3-year marriage condition. There was a question of how long you have been in the country for 5 years on the application. We had seen on here that people put a line through the 5 and put a 3 if they are filing under the marriage condition. The IO told him that you should NEVER edit an official government form and made him recalculate how long he had been in the US.

Hope this helps others who may be filing out applications or have interviews coming up.

Wow a few of the questions were so different from the ones in the book. I'm surprised they asked him to elaborate..weird! But now the hard part is done! Congratulations to your Hubby on passing his interview! Posted Image

Tomorrow is the big day! Oath day! 1:30 in the afternoon! Sooo excited for the hubby!

Yay!!! Congratulations to the Hubby!! Will you be doing a same day passport? I was thinking of handing in my naturalization certificate with my passport application after the Oath ceremony but I'm not sure how long the processing time is.

By the way, I did not receive any yellow sheet of paper, only a white I-797C NOA and N-659, Naturalization Interview Document Check List. Is this standard?

My husband didn't receive his yellow letter but I got one. I think it's sent out at random. Congrats on getting your interview! Posted Image

glad things are moving fast for you guys. It's been 11 days since my interview with the "recommended for approval" thing and my status online still hasn't changed to "decision", it's still at "interview" stage. I am so anxious right now hahaha. Wonder why it takes so long

Mine took about 10 days or so to change from Oath que to Oath Ceremony and my husband was just placed in the Oath que today (10 days after being in the interview status online. It didn't even change to decision) I'm sure there is a little backlog but hopefully you will have yous soon! Our journeys are almost over!! Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Any word on your oath date yet?

No letter yet! It should be here this week! I'm so excited. I also contacted USCIS and spoke to a level 2 officer and he told me my husband was approved and should be placed in the Oath que this month! I'm really excited! I apply US.Passport in April23 ( Oath ceremony ) and i got US.Passport last friday in May3. When i will get my certificate back? Thank you for the answerheart.gif

My husband got his passport last friday and his passport card yesterday. Hopefully he'll get his naturalization certificate back next week. If you are worried you can call the passport office customer service they should be able to give you info as to when it was sent out and if there is any tracking info for it.

Can someone update me please, I passed my interview at the Milwaukee field office on April 24th, it was very short and IO was SUPER friendly. Today I got the mail below stating..........

Oath Ceremony

On April 26, 2013, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies.

Good luck to people still waiting on interview, congrats to those who have interview date and passed and congratultions to those waiting on oath ceremony and those who are already done!!!

question on N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony questionnaire.

Do I need to do the questionnaire and sign at the Ceremony or I can answer and sign it at home?

You can answer and sign it at home..but you may want to make sure you don't get a ticket otherwise you have to change your answers. What I did was fill it out the night before and signed it. It helps because there will be a lot of people at your ceremony so when you file in you just have hand it off before you are seated so being prepared does help. Also if you are filing for a passport that same day have everything ready and signed.
